Pros: I would recommend this hotel for both business and leisure. 18m indoor pool and gym were good. Baby sitting service outsourced was fantastic, our sitter was a preschool teacher. The Concierge service was second to none and nothing was ever a problem, even though we called them 15 times on the first evening. Located right on the Bund (my room didn't have a Bund view) and was a 50m walk to the waters edge, and on one of the biggest shopping streets in China (East Nanjing Road).

Pros: The location is great but most rooms have no views. The products provided is top of the line and the jazz bar, though did not play jazz when we were there, is a nice old time Shanghai fair.
Cons: The facility is older even after the renovation. The switches are so over-used that one is hard to read what the switch is for. The shower room insulation is old so that water leaks to the toilet area whenver the shower is used.

Pros: Management went out of their way to make our trip memorable - Thank you Andy, Rico, and Zak! At every turn, they were there to help. Also, Karme the concierge - Cannot get better in Shanghai! Location is amazing, while the hotel has a charm and luxurious feel.
Cons: Generally, difficulty with English. Room had a leak, and AC was not working, but the staff was quick to fix everything without question or delay!

Pros: The location is great and they have English-speaking staff. The Hotel itself is very comfortable and the mini-bar is refilled everyday and Free (coke & sprite, water and cookies). The Restaurant of the Hotel, in the 4th floor has a wonderful view and good food. I went for breakfast and lunch, the prices are ok and the food is safe and tasty. The subway station is 2 blocks away, quite convenient.
Cons: The location is good but there is a strange neighborhood crossing the street (not unsafe but not nice to walk either).

Pros: I can't recommend Dorsett Shanghai enough! Traveling solo to Shanghai for the first time, I was worried that I could get stuck with a less-than-desirable hotel in an oddly-located part of the city. However, the Dorsett is easily accessed from Line 2 of the Metro, and right across the street from Century Park. The room was amazing. Luxurious quality with a bold design, it made me feel right at home, even on the other side of the world. It also had a beautiful view of the city overlooking the park. I couldn't have been happier. Finally, the service was outstanding. The team at Dorsett was completely accommodating when I needed to cancel a reservation later in the week, and did it without charging me for the room. They were professional and courteous.
Cons: I don't have any real complaints about the hotel. My only slight gripe is that I was hoping to have a quick meal at the restaurant before I got on my flight, but the prices were quite a bit more expensive than what I had expected.

Pros: Please Google "Shanghai Scam" if you are visiting. Location of hotel was good. It's one block from a major pedestrian shopping mall and you can easily walk to the river or to the square. The hotel room we got was a king and was really nice. It had a huge room and the bathroom was really nice also.
Cons: The A/C in our room didn't work. We notified reception and they sent an engineer to fix it and it worked for 36 or so hours after that and then blew warm air again. The reception staff said all the rooms A/C are bad and there was no point in moving us to another room. She said it's because the A/C units are old and the outside air is too warm to cool.

Pros: Staff was responsive and tries to help.
Cons: It appears that more female staff are recently hired, which is great. More materials need to be provided to them to help them know what tourists generally ask about. One thing I noticed about mainland Chinese is that that they do not give details but only a generalized answers. The more experienced staff are okay. But the newer staff should be told to be more specific because world travelers are not stupid. The details are what tourists want. Also, give the young female staff encouragements rather than criticisms. And have the experienced staff, who seems to be mostly males, to give the female staff a chance to help tourists - so don't take over but assist on the side.

Pros: The hotel is located just adjacent to the Yu Garden, ah historic and picturesque neighborhood the recalls the Shanghai of yesteryear. It is fascinating to walk through the little lanes and see the ancient buildings. The Yu Garden is a real gem as well. The hotel is located just above the Yu Garden subway station and could not be more convenient for getting around the city. The hotel is clean and modern. The staff was wonderful. Pros: For a little over $100 per night this hotel is very nice. I'm surprised there's an even more upscale sister hotel Grand Central next door! The rooms are quite spacious and clean. The location is excellent, 3 blocks from the Metro 2 stop and right behind the famous walking street.
Cons: The staff is not the most friendly and they were doing construction in a room close by which caused quite a bit of noise early in the morning and the water in our room was shut off for half a day. With that in mind we should have gotten a price reduction on the room for the inconvenience.

Pros: Beware Hotel is in great location. The pros end about there. Yes its true, the hotel is very near the main walking Street. However, you're better off sleeping on said street. We checked in for a total of 15 mins. That was enough time needed. Our "suite", and I use the term liberally, resembled the steerage room on an old ship; small, dank, and full of condoms. The condoms were on a convenience store style display, I'm assuming to give you a choice to use on whatever hooker youre bringing back - assuming theyre willing to set foot in Such a place. The "king" bed fit 1 small child or 1\3 adult. Rooms are cleaned after 1 pm based on our trashed room that we checked into. One would hope that the maids use a flame thrower. Room was roughly the size of a prison cell. However, room was not as nice as previous point. Beware of pickpockets: not nessessarily on the street, but on the elevator - they have ample time to rob you, since it stops on every floor for no apparent reason... We attempted to voice our concerns to the front desk who merely offered to send the maids to our cell block. They attempted to pursuaid us that all king beds are 5ft x 5ft and that rooms with windows are "deluxe" suites and can only be booked through the hotel. If you're looking to stay in the area - try anywhere else...
Cons: Everything. Also, they would not honour their free 24 hour cancellation policy. Beware!
