Pros: We were there for my wife's 50th birthday. The hotel staff was spectacular in helping me organize some surprises for her on her special day. They were also helpful in organizing private tours to the ruins and areas around Merida. If you want to experience the feel of one of the old Merida homes, this would be a good option.

Pros: Attractive
Cons: Has to eat outside .bitten by mosquitos. No way to escape
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It is beautifully maintained building. The road on the Main Street isn’t that great but once you get in, it’s quiet and chilled place. The breakfast was amazing and huge volume, and staff were very helpful to meet my requests. My room was massive, but seating ideas might be required for more than 2 travelers. The internet worked perfectly, and enough pressure of the hot water.
Cons: It’s a bit off from the main square, and particularly the first 2 blocks to the center were sort of deserted and I worried a bit to walk back in the evening. It was probably the off season but the pool wasn’t maintained.

There are a couple of restaurants about 1 block away, and there are two large shopping malls with food courts within a 10-15 minute walk. The Mundo Maya Museum is about 3-4 blocks away.
Cons: It's a very long way from the downtown so if you don't have your own transportation, it's difficult to get around. Once a Spanish general’s stately mansion, this Merida luxury hotel blends colonial elegance with modern convenience. Relax on our outdoor terrace and enjoy the finest tequila selection in the city. Explore historic Yucatán and the tree-lined splendor of Paseo de Montejo, once Mexico’s wealthiest district. This Merida luxury hotel is also well placed to explore the area’s fascinating heritage, including Uxmal and the ancient Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza.
6.3 Good
Pros: Easy to find in Merida and convenient to park - decent size, clean and quiet hotel room with a comfortable king-size bed.
Cons: Highly unprofessional staff which is really uncommon and even quite shocking for the Intercontinental Brand. We did not feel welcomed in any way ; on the contrary. As the most striking example : the fridge/mini-bar in the room is locked with a key which they did not provide us with - only until after a deposit of 1,000 peso was made (!?). Because this experience in Merida was so disappointing, we decided NOT to stay in the Intercontinental Hotel in Cancun (which had been our original plan). I would advise Intercontinental to train the staff in client-friendliness
6.2 Good
Pros: Location, quietness
Cons: Bathroom, a/c, concierge service, quality
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was good
Cons: Lobby is not beautiful and it was full of big “art objects” occupying the space
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property is great, very clean, great location, anazing rooms, amazing breakfast. All the staff members are very helpful, always there to help you!
Cons: However, not all the staff members speak a good English. Some of them find it difficult to explain even simple things.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome hotel. Like staying in a museum.
Cons: No fridge in room unless you unlocked mini bar.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It is a luxury hotel with plenty of additional services and amenities at (close to) Mexican prices. The location of it is very convenient, right at the beginning of one main street with lots of cafes and eateries, leading into historic Merida.
Cons: The swimming pool area was a bit of a disappointment. It is a very small deck with like 6 loungers crammed right between the hotel wings. No sun reaches there at any time and having two people on the deck already feels crowded so don't count on using it. Also, the WiFi signal was strong everywhere but the connection was inconsistent, constantly cutting out for short periods of time. Checking mail and messaging was fine, but not good at all for VoIP calls or god forbid, streaming.
6.2 Good
Pros: Location, easy check-in, check-out, breakfast buffet
Cons: Bathroom design, surroundings outside window
6.3 Good
Pros: THE BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT. THE HOTEL IS WELL LOCATED. BUT THE BUILDING, ELEVATORS, POOL, ROOM SERVICES ARE OLD AND SLOW. THE POOL TOO SMALL AND THE LOBBY BAR TO SMALL ALSO. I WOULD RATHER STAY AT THE FIESTA AMERICANA ONE BLOCK AWAY NEXT TIME AND I AM AN IHG MEMBER.
Cons: THE ROOM TOO LOUSY, IT WAS COMMUNICATED WITH THE OTHER ROOM.THE LIGHTING IS OLD. THERE IS NO SERVIBAR SERVICE. AND THE ROOM SERVICE IS TOO SLOW. THE POOL IS TOO SMALL AND A LOT OF CHILDREN FOR SUCH AN SMALL POOL. THE GYMNASIUM IS REALLY RIDICULOUS. ONLY 4 PIECES OF EQUIPMENT AND NO BODY BULIDING AND IT WAS ALWAYS CLOSED AND HOT.

Cons: There was nothing outright negative about our stay. It was delightful. The rooms could feature some more art and the beds could include a heavier comforter/bedspread since the A/C is necessary and gets the room very cold. Despite that, the bedding was great and we slept really well.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful!! We were staying for 1 night only but we loved the hotel that much that we book for 2 extra nights Staff very friendly and helpful

Pros: Beautiful boutique hotel, great design and amazing welcome from the owners Sara and Neil. The check-in was extremely smooth with welcome drinks and snacks as well as quick but very efficient information on things to see, restaurant suggestions... Breakfast is delicious and home made, in addition to be beautifully presented and changes every day. The swimming pool is a great plus after walking all day in the heat. We absolutely loved our stay at the Diplomat!
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect. Sara and Neil, you do an amazing job!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Much of Merida is still basic looking so when we drove in we were a bit concerned. Once we were at the property we were so relieved and the place is Beautiful. Neil and Sarah have done a wonderful job with the property, The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed. The pool is very nice and the margaritas are great as is the local gin. They are lovely hosts and the service cannot be faulted. They include a lot to the rate and it feels very welcoming. They provide lots of information and uber to all the main parts of Merida were very fast and was between US$ 50 cents to $1.50 There are only 4 rooms so you feel as if you are in your own little paradise in the middle of Merida. Highly recommended for discerning travellers.
Cons: all was good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room and a brilliantly thought out, varied breakfast, wonderful sun trap pool and possibly the best check-in experience and overall level of service you could ever hope for. Sara and Neil are helpful informative, friendly and have thought of all the little extras you could want, including free mezcal (though it's too tempting to upgrade them to mezcal cocktails). Just a fantastic hotel and experience, well located next to the centre. You want it, they sort it - restaurant reservations, cheap car hire (don't use the airport services)... it's all slick and done with a smile. Thanks guys!
Cons: Absolutely nothing
9.2 Excellent

Pros: Lovely complex of separate pavilions in an intimate garden. Good location close to Zocalo.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was excellent. Irma is a great host. The staff was very nice and helpfull. We enjoyed our time at Casa del Maya.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is absolutely lovely. We used the lounge area and the pool a few times to relax after long hot days of sightseeing. The beds and linens were very comfortable. I loved the rainfall shower. Breakfast was delicious every day! And the staff were always conscious of dietary restrictions, which is a huge plus. But what stands out is how helpful and friendly the staff is. Santiago helped us so much getting around and even helped us book a car to get to Chichén-Itzá, after we realized all the tours were sold out.
Cons: The lobby can get a bit hot and stuffy, but we only spent minimal time there, so it wasn’t really an issue.
7.1 Good

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Greeted by Jordy and Steve - they insisted on taking our bags to the room (and when we left, they insisted on taking the bags back to the front door). Rooms are newly redecorated and nicely furnished. WiFi throughout facility Breakfast is excellent. Jody makes some delicious homemade cinnamon rolls. The main dish always has some local flavor. Plenty of places to relax (siesta) in the afternoon While pool is too small to do laps, it is very clean and personal

Pros: Every detail contributed to my comfort. I love this charming little gem of a hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff that spoke many different languages. Nice breakfast! Great location close to the centre of town. Would definitely stay again for a short period of time.
Cons: While the decor of rooms is stylish and minimalist, it felt rather bare and unwelcoming in real life despite having appealed to me through photos. Due to being on a commun so terrace, we had to keep the curtains closed for privacy which left the rooms dark.Toilet door didn’t close properly and shower in the bedroom didn’t provide much privacy. Door to hallway was very thin and other guests could easily be heard entering and exiting their rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Price-place relation
Cons: The bar has no beers or wine

Pros: This hotel was nicer than the photos! It used to be an old puppet theater and has a lovely layout. The room and the bed were very large and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. The modern bathroom is fantastic! The location is very good - 5 minutes to city center on foot but removed enough from the busyness. We would definitely recommend and go back anytime.
Cons: The optional breakfast changes everyday and was hit or miss.

Pros: The stuff was very friendly. The location is fantastic, super central and at a scenic place
Cons: locker for valuable belonging is old fashioned and has to be separately requested
9.1 Excellent
Pros: If you're looking for a clean base to rest your head at night, this is it. No frills- you get a bed and a bathroom. Staff are nice and helpful, food is good, bed was always made, and excellent location.
Cons: Noisy at times. Thin walls.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The best thing about El Caribe is its location. We have been staying there for 20 years, and there is some improvement this year. The A/C is better and the bathrooms are better. When you pay little money for a room you shouldn't expect the Marriott or a similar hotel.
Cons: I think there should be a lamp on the bedside table. I know there is back lighting, but a lamp would be nice. I also think some drawers would be helpful to be able to store your clothes and not have to leave them in your suitcase.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location was amazing!
Cons: The hotel it’s self had a cute restaurant and a good vibe. Most of the staff was helpful, a few were not. We were in a room down a cramped hallway near where the workers hung out. Hot water didn’t work two days in a row, but the workers fixed it every morning for us. A lot of hair in the drain. It also smelled a little like mold or mud.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location in the city centre, nice rooms very well cleaned. Pool on the fifth floor.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: The shower was pretty bad
7.1 Good
Pros: Excellent location, clean rooms
Cons: Do not give a very hospitable feeling, the quality of the bar is very disappointing (and you can’t charge to your room), worn out poolside furniture

Pros: Staff was very cheerful and helpful. Hotel is within easy walking distance of historic city center. Our room was quite comfortable. One piece of advice - book the premium room. For a few dollars more, you get a much nicer room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was very clean and vibrant with excellent views from the balcony. The staff were polite and helpful. The swimming pool was the ultimate highlight. Will definitely stay there again.
Cons: Mainly the taps and toilets in the rooms. The toilets got blocked easily.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, nice staff, comfy beds, nice Ambiente!
Cons: Could consider a bit more that there will also be vegetarian at breakfast :)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to a busy commuting intersection downtown Merida , this hotel provides an oasis of calm with the lovely courtyard/pool area. Our 3rd floor premium room had full wall of window/ patio door looking onto the pool and palm trees. A plain but good breakfast is served in the older courtyard. Staff are friendly and attentive. Spacious, clean, bright room.
Cons: Breakfast could be more varied..but must say the in house little pound cake is delicious. Gracias!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Large room with view of the courtyard pool. Both a/c and fan. Opening windows. Many seating areas to hang out. General ambience. Great value.
Cons: East side location. More walking! Breakfast lacked in quality. Limited bar service after 9pm.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was great. It was clean and the airconditioner worked great. The hotel is in a really convenient location, easy walking distance to the main plaza and some really good restaurants. It was quiet and I had a nice balcony with a street view. I didn't swim in the pool but it looked like it was well maintained. The breakfast buffet was reasonably priced and the food was tasty
Cons: The bathroom was small but the shower always had hot water and it was clean.
6.7 Good
Pros: The location is ideal since it is close to the main square in Merida. The parking area provided by the hotel is not too far away. The breakfast offers a wide choice of fruits, eggs, pancakes, juices and some cereals.
Cons: Quite generally it did not feel like a 4* hotel. The pool area was disappointing because it was in the hotel courtyard, which is never properly sunny. While the rooms are cleaned daily they do not seem to be cleaned thoroughly - you can still see bits of fluff on the floor.
7.1 Good
Pros: The breakfast was wonderful every morning. The location was very convenient since it was close to down-town.
Cons: The bath room was too small for two person.
7.9 Good
Pros: Bed and simplicity
Cons: Breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good
9.6 Excellent
Pros: All of the staff was absolutely wonderful! Extremely helpful and kind. We speak little Spanish but there was always someone to help. I would definitely use this hotel again. Great location especially if it is your first time in the area. Restaurants and convenience stores very close by. Breakfast buffet very good at about $7 US in the hotel.
Cons: Our bathroom was a bit small for my 6"4'' husband but I noticed some other rooms had larger bathrooms as we passed rooms that were being cleaned. I will request this next time we stay here. It seemed many of the rooms had different configurations.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location and cleaning of the rooms
Cons: We reserved for a triple room and at the hotel we discovered that it is a 2 bedroom (pictures showed however 3 beds and reservation was for a triple room). We finally had to book for an extra room to be more confortable
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Right in the middle of town and yet quiet enough at night. The staff were helpful, they can tell you how to book tours and taxis. My friend injured her hand when we were there and they were attentive and caring.
Cons: The air conditioner was directly over the bed and just blows into your face for the night, making it difficult to sleep.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location for the centre of the old town.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good
Cons: All was good
