Pros: Breakfast was exquisitely delicious. We went to the buffet. And for 350 pesos/person, we thought it a bit pricey. However. there were endless choices. Fruit, salad, hot traditional yucatan dishes , ladies making eggs, empanadas, tostadas to order. Lots of pastries, fruit, cereal, a great foodie experience.

Cons: When we arrived at room, the garbage wasnt emptied from prior guest, and they only gave us 1 robe and 1 pair of slippers, which we shared. Also, u are only allowed to drink 1 coffee in your room, then u have to pay, which is very cheap of such an expensive hotel.

Pros: The property is great, very clean, great location, anazing rooms, amazing breakfast. All the staff members are very helpful, always there to help you!
Cons: However, not all the staff members speak a good English. Some of them find it difficult to explain even simple things.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Comfortable bed.
Cons: Overcharged £160 and when I questioned it I was told I was wrong three times despite showing 3 emails and my bank statement to prove I had already paid. Totally unacceptable customer service. The pool has no sun at any point of the day. Mini bar advertised with the room, non existent at all. Paid for a film to watch couldn’t watch it due to poor connection.

Pros: Awesome hotel. Like staying in a museum.
Cons: No fridge in room unless you unlocked mini bar.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It is a luxury hotel with plenty of additional services and amenities at (close to) Mexican prices. The location of it is very convenient, right at the beginning of one main street with lots of cafes and eateries, leading into historic Merida.
Cons: The swimming pool area was a bit of a disappointment. It is a very small deck with like 6 loungers crammed right between the hotel wings. No sun reaches there at any time and having two people on the deck already feels crowded so don't count on using it. Also, the WiFi signal was strong everywhere but the connection was inconsistent, constantly cutting out for short periods of time. Checking mail and messaging was fine, but not good at all for VoIP calls or god forbid, streaming.
6.2 Good
Pros: Location, easy check-in, check-out, breakfast buffet
Cons: Bathroom design, surroundings outside window
6.3 Good
Pros: THE BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT. THE HOTEL IS WELL LOCATED. BUT THE BUILDING, ELEVATORS, POOL, ROOM SERVICES ARE OLD AND SLOW. THE POOL TOO SMALL AND THE LOBBY BAR TO SMALL ALSO. I WOULD RATHER STAY AT THE FIESTA AMERICANA ONE BLOCK AWAY NEXT TIME AND I AM AN IHG MEMBER.
Cons: THE ROOM TOO LOUSY, IT WAS COMMUNICATED WITH THE OTHER ROOM.THE LIGHTING IS OLD. THERE IS NO SERVIBAR SERVICE. AND THE ROOM SERVICE IS TOO SLOW. THE POOL IS TOO SMALL AND A LOT OF CHILDREN FOR SUCH AN SMALL POOL. THE GYMNASIUM IS REALLY RIDICULOUS. ONLY 4 PIECES OF EQUIPMENT AND NO BODY BULIDING AND IT WAS ALWAYS CLOSED AND HOT.

Pros: I appreciated the quality of maid service. The mural was extraordinary!
Cons: The room itself had a musty smell.. a repulsive musty stench came out whenever you turned on the sink or tub faucets....the air conditioner was so loud we didn't have an uninterrupted sleep our entire stay, we reported the problem, maintenance was sent to our room but nothing was done... there is a sewage processing facility with an open sludge vat by the pool area that is separated by a fence, which explains the nasty odor that permeated the air, the restaurant service was slow and unattentive, yet they were quick to give us our bill before we were even finished with our meal. The restaurant itself was not very clean. Even though a score of 3.8 was given based on booking.com calculations, I would rate this place 2.0 based on my experience during my stay.
5.0 Okay
Pros: the pool and updated floor and lobby. the person that checked us in was very knowledgeable and pleasant. was able answer all our questions.

Pros: Staff was simpathetic to my complaints and were happy to cancel the contract without charging any fee.
Cons: The whole hotel smelled of Mold from the corridors to the rooms. Curtains were stained. Maintainance is urgently needed there. It didn't have a mini bar. It is overpriced for what it offers.

Pros: Great location, friendly staff.
Cons: No free Breakfast as many other Holiday Inns in U.S.- Need to be more clear about this in Ad.

Pros: Casa del Balam is very well located in the heart of the historic district within an easy walk to the main plaza. We were there for a scientific meeting which was right across the street at the University of the Yucatan. Restaurants are all nearby and the one attached to the Casa was as good as any. We had breakfast every day (we were there a week) in the Casa's courtyard beside the fountain and serenaded by the white-winged doves. The room was on the second floor so we walked up and down and it became a haven for those really hot days you get in May in the Yucatan. The room was always clean and cool and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was most welcoming and ready to arrange a tour, give you more bottled water or answer any questions. All in all a great place to stay for a very reasonable price.

Pros: The perfect location in the centre of the city
Cons: The windows couldn't be opened; the climatization was too loud; the lifts old.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: We liked everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel location is great; close to everything. Staff delivered excellent service from arrival to departure.
Cons: Tile flooring. Expected to have carpet flooring.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The water pressure is excellent. The sheets and towels were soft and comfortable. Location is central. I had an amazing stay as a solo traveler.
Cons: I didnt realize the minibar needed a key to open and I wasn't given one at check-in. I ended up going to the attached restaurant instead. No big deal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Clean and first class.
Cons: Nothing about this hotel not to like.

Pros: Loved our beautiful room with balcony over-looking the pool. Wonderful to swim and refresh every afternoon. Staff is great— especially Diego.
Cons:
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice patio and swimming pool, big room, comfy beds. It's not new, but everything is clean and functioning and well kept.
Cons: I didn't like the noise (of the air conditioner?) which was working all night long (like a fridge).
9.0 Excellent
Pros: A very cool spot - the lobby and entrance plaza are like being in a jungle paradise. The room was very very spacious, and the decorations were old-school feel and quite elaborate. The bed comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful, especially with nearby recommendations and directions. The hotel is VERY centrally located, which is awesome to get around to the lively plazas and Paseo de Montejo. super conveniently located and easy to get around. The grounds themselves are very luxurious looking.
Cons: The bed was very big but a little but hard. Some of the bathroom amenities needed a fix, like leaky tiles after showering, but nothing that really bothered us
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Charme and location Pool and patio
Cons: Price paid at desk was different from web site. Due to city taxes. ? Never had similar expérience elsewhere
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It is centrally located and very good ambiance.
Cons: The receptionist was not as welcoming.

Pros: The cost per night at the front desk was 50% less than what Kayak advertised. We felt ripped off.
The hotel was conveniently located, and the breakfast was excellent. The parking for the hotel is 75m away on the same street.
The mattresses and pillows were firm, and clean.
Having not been for paying double of what the hotel cost, this would have been an excellent experience.

Pros: The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was really helpful, and room service was great. Many thanks to the lady working in the restaurant for her excellent service! All in all, it was a nice experience.
Cons: Well, the room had no fridge. In a hot country like this I can not understand how it's possible for a hotel not to have a fridge. Plus, the bathroom had no curtain and as the window was in the bathtub area, I could see another window outside where if someone was standing there, they could see me having a bath.

We love the doormen, as they are very thoughtful and accommodating. The adjacent restaurant is very nice with a nice buffet and great service.
Cons: This is a small thing, and maybe it's cultural, but they are a little stingy with extra towels. I asked twice for a bath floor towel, but it never came. Also, they do not have facial washcloths, but these are no big deal. We just joked about it.

Pros: It’s a cosy, cute hotel which has one of the best value for money in Mérida.
Cons: The staff albeit friendly and polite is completely incompetent. From the Maid to the manager on duty. Everything went wrong. The place is dirty. The balconies have paint stains all over the windows and haven’t been cleaned in months. There was trash under the bed, the towels had holes in them. The restaurant hand bread crumbs all over the bench both times I ate there. I really don’t know how they deserve 5 stars.

Pros: The food was not a draw, but it’s excellent location, quiet rooms, reliable high speed internet ( 2nd floor) made for a very pleasant stay. The pool was clean and situated in a pleasant shaded inner courtyard. No room fridges except in the upgraded king size rooms, if that’s one of your must haves...good to ask the hotel directly. The hotel staff was pleasant and non-obtrusive. Funny, when we first arrived, I noticed a few things were not pleasing...worn lobby furniture, etc, but soon I appreciated its quiet charm and authenticity. I would definitely stay there again.

Cons: Rooms are supposed to have a balcony, but both rooms we got didn’t even have a window. The rooms smelled wet/ moldy. Ok, the swimming pool is cleaned every day, but I would never jump in, water seemed not ok. Besides that it’s much to small to swim in it. There’s no service at all, no bottle of water on the room(drinks or coffee can not be bought at the hotel), no fridge. Receptionist has nothing to do whole day long, but never thought about removing the trash (empty bottles etc.) from the public area in the patio.

6.0 Good
Pros: Location was decent. The grounds outside the room were nice.
Cons: I had reserved a room for a double bed for a double bed and was instead given a room with two single beds. They said this was done automatically because they were out of the former, but I wish they had informed me in advance because I would have picked another hotel. Furniture was old, breakfast was underwhelming, amenities were lacking.

Pros: The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very nice and it has a roof-top area from where you have have a glimpse of the city.

Pros: The hotel is charming. The location is excellent (not too close to noisy areas but not too far from the main attractions or travel points either) and has a decent car park.
Cons: The food is average at best but edible. I'm only saying this because the cuisine of Yucatan region is so good that my expectations were lifted to a level that the hotel did not relatively meet.

Pros: The location is ideal since it is close to the main square in Merida. The parking area provided by the hotel is not too far away. The breakfast offers a wide choice of fruits, eggs, pancakes, juices and some cereals.
Cons: Quite generally it did not feel like a 4* hotel. The pool area was disappointing because it was in the hotel courtyard, which is never properly sunny. While the rooms are cleaned daily they do not seem to be cleaned thoroughly - you can still see bits of fluff on the floor.

Cons: Our bathroom was a bit small for my 6"4'' husband but I noticed some other rooms had larger bathrooms as we passed rooms that were being cleaned. I will request this next time we stay here. It seemed many of the rooms had different configurations.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location and cleaning of the rooms
Cons: We reserved for a triple room and at the hotel we discovered that it is a 2 bedroom (pictures showed however 3 beds and reservation was for a triple room). We finally had to book for an extra room to be more confortable

Pros: Right in the middle of town and yet quiet enough at night. The staff were helpful, they can tell you how to book tours and taxis. My friend injured her hand when we were there and they were attentive and caring.
