THE BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT. THE HOTEL IS WELL LOCATED. BUT THE BUILDING, ELEVATORS, POOL, ROOM SERVICES ARE OLD AND SLOW. THE POOL TOO SMALL AND THE LOBBY BAR TO SMALL ALSO. I WOULD RATHER STAY AT THE FIESTA AMERICANA ONE BLOCK AWAY NEXT TIME AND I AM AN IHG MEMBER.
THE ROOM TOO LOUSY, IT WAS COMMUNICATED WITH THE OTHER ROOM.THE LIGHTING IS OLD. THERE IS NO SERVIBAR SERVICE. AND THE ROOM SERVICE IS TOO SLOW. THE POOL IS TOO SMALL AND A LOT OF CHILDREN FOR SUCH AN SMALL POOL. THE GYMNASIUM IS REALLY RIDICULOUS. ONLY 4 PIECES OF EQUIPMENT AND NO BODY BULIDING AND IT WAS ALWAYS CLOSED AND HOT.
It is a luxury hotel with plenty of additional services and amenities at (close to) Mexican prices. The location of it is very convenient, right at the beginning of one main street with lots of cafes and eateries, leading into historic Merida.
The swimming pool area was a bit of a disappointment. It is a very small deck with like 6 loungers crammed right between the hotel wings. No sun reaches there at any time and having two people on the deck already feels crowded so don't count on using it. Also, the WiFi signal was strong everywhere but the connection was inconsistent, constantly cutting out for short periods of time. Checking mail and messaging was fine, but not good at all for VoIP calls or god forbid, streaming.
Awesome hotel. Like staying in a museum.
No fridge in room unless you unlocked mini bar.
Easy to find in Merida and convenient to park - decent size, clean and quiet hotel room with a comfortable king-size bed.
Highly unprofessional staff which is really uncommon and even quite shocking for the Intercontinental Brand. We did not feel welcomed in any way ; on the contrary. As the most striking example : the fridge/mini-bar in the room is locked with a key which they did not provide us with - only until after a deposit of 1,000 peso was made (!?). Because this experience in Merida was so disappointing, we decided NOT to stay in the Intercontinental Hotel in Cancun (which had been our original plan). I would advise Intercontinental to train the staff in client-friendliness
Location, easy check-in, check-out, breakfast buffet
Bathroom design, surroundings outside window
Once a Spanish general’s stately mansion, this Merida luxury hotel blends colonial elegance with modern convenience. Relax on our outdoor terrace and enjoy the finest tequila selection in the city. Explore historic Yucatán and the tree-lined splendor of Paseo de Montejo, once Mexico’s wealthiest district. This Merida luxury hotel is also well placed to explore the area’s fascinating heritage, including Uxmal and the ancient Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza.
