Memphis hotels near Beale Street

Cons: We had dinner at Fishbowl, the food was very good, and our waitress was nice but it seemed understaffed. She was the only waitress in the entire seating area where we were, we felt bad for her.

Cons: The staff charged us a parking fee (per day) for both rooms when we only had ONE VEHICLE. When we tried to explain this to the staff, her reply was that she couldn't do anything because the room was booked thru hotel.com. This to me was unacceptable. A rip off.

Cons: The room was not very quiet. We could clearly hear our neighbors when they were speaking, and they started setting up in one or the meeting spaces across the hall at 6 am and it was loud enough that we couldn’t go back to sleep.

Cons: kayak charging a $77 booking fee.

Cons: Loved everything!!

Cons: Awful service all around - room service, cleaning staff, lobby bar, etc. All provided VERY slow service (i.e., did not turn over our room until almost 8pm at night, never provided clean towels despite calling twice, room service took almost 2 hours despite being told it would be less than an hour). Repeatedly told incorrect or wrong information (i.e., asked about where to buy a tshirt that we saw in a case in the lobby and was told the store doesn't exist, even though it's around the corner from the hotel, was told check out was 11am but it's 12pm)

Cons: I was told during check in that breakfast was included in the rate and when I checked out I was charged. When questioning the charge the young lad behind the counter started arguing with me and blaming the charge on using a third party and was condescending.

Cons: All the extra taxes and fees

Cons: We have stayed here many times, and actually were giving the hotel a "last shot" at reclaiming our patronage--because the previous stay was just awful. The staff's attitude is that we should be thanking them for giving us a room. Customer services has long left this property. Someone needs to build a competitive hotel nearby and put this old relic out of business. Or. . . better. . . . how about hiring management that reinstruct their "team" as to why they are in a service business.

Cons: I had nothing bad to comment on the Peabody Hotel in Memphis.

Cons: We booked our stay 8 months ago when we arrived at 11 pm we called to tell them we would be late we even payed a Peabody hotel town car to pick us up at a train we were told they did not have our room we had all are needed info from our booking 3 people checked in beside us while we waited 20 minutes to talk to manager we were called to back room and treated like we did something wrong one person in lobby even said wonder what they did manager was rude and over bearing tried to tell us we were rude because we did not want to go to another hotel but we had to it was 11 pm we found out from desk clerk at this hotel that the Peabody has a common habit of over booking and sending us away with 8 month ahead booking the people who got rooms at same time we checked in were part of a group shame on you Peabody for your treatment of guest! What makes it worse is you do it all the time

Cons: Traditional rooms and bathrooms are very small for the price paid...

Cons: I attempted to check in at 3:15. First, there was no record of my stay for that night . . . they had me booked for Sunday instead of Saturday. This may not be the hotel's fault. The staff was nice and they fixed it, but then I had to wait THREE hours to get in my room. I had somewhere to be, so this involved leaving my luggage on a cart in the hotel and hoping for the best. I was pretty miffed. I complained when I was in the lobby bar getting a drink, though, and the nice server (manager?) took care of my bar tab, so that was nice. Apparently it was an overbooked weekend. It was definitely chaotic.

Cons: It would have been nice to have a list of activities in the hotel when we checked in. We found out too late that there is a happy hour on the roof during sunset... and the roof has a beautiful view.

Cons: The shower head didn’t have a good setting for the showers I like to take.

Cons: I did not like the ( service fee ) I was charged . I know that where ever we go, I will ask about this hidden fee & if they have this fee I will not tip any of the help due to the fact I'm already paying it with the xtra fee their employer charged me

Cons: They couldn't find our room reservation because we booked through Kayak and then we were locked out of our room for two hours (computer malfunction) and then moved to a room of lesser value.

Cons: On the downside, I did have to take a lukewarm shower that got on the cooler side a few times. I'm not sure if there were too many people using the water at one time but even if that was the case, I expect that there should of been no issues with getting warm/hot water. The actual bathroom with the toilet/tub was a little tight but it was clean and had everything we needed.

Cons: Only one elevator operating, unpleasant/unapproachable staff, sketchy neighbor after dark, unstable (mostly cold) shower, tiny bathroom (very little room between toilet and door; uncomfortable for bigger people); breakfast time closed much too early; not affordable; ancient TV and very weak, slow, unreliable wifi

Cons: Bathroom could use a little updating of faucets/shower head; but, all were functioning. Shower head was also not very tall in the tub. Might cause some difficulty for taller person but was not bothersome to us.

Cons: They are in the process of updating and renovating. Didn't really have a problem with if.

Cons: Breakfast wasn’t as good of quality of comparable items as received in other brand hotels. The juice tasted like it had gone bad.

Cons: If there was an alternative breakfast option because covid19 restricted the usual breakfast

Cons: I'd like the hotel to be more environmentally aware. For example, they should offer the option of not having the housekeeping staff change towels every day. They have large bars of soap that would take at least a month to use up with regular use that, I assume, are just thrown away after checkout. Many hotels are now using foaming soap. They provide a plastic straw with drinks, even with orange juice in the morning. Millions of these end up in landfills every day in this country. Perhaps they could consider not providing any straws unless the customer requests one. These kinds of small but important changes would save them money and make our environment a little cleaner.

Cons: The beautiful glass windows would pop and creak when hit by the morning sun, not so great if you are trying to sleep in after a night on Beale street.

Cons: I liked everything about this hotel except the fact that there was no continental breakfast served. I can’t think of a place I’ve stayed that didn’t have at least something like yogurt and fruit in the lobby. And there is usually a table with coffee and water but you have to buy coffee from the Starbucks in the lobby. Also, the parking lot was a bit odd. There were only a few places to park that were close to the entrance. The rest of the lot was a bit of a walk to get there.

Cons: When I checked in the lady at the desk was not friendly at all.

Cons: Pillows were terrible. The only bad thing about the hotel.

Cons: We felt safe, but the room was old and rusty; wherever rust could show; you would see it. the toilet was tiny-- very low as if was for kids and it was leaking (for a while) because there was a dark stain surrounding it and the tub was chipped. While the room was clean, I did not expect this room condition in a Hilton property. I have stayed at other Hilton hotels and they definetely cannot be compared (it will be like comparing night and day).

Cons: They gave us a basement room by a large pond. Normally this sounds like it shouldn't be an issue... It sounds like, "oh hey, I have a room with a view! Of... A pond" but I assure you... This was not the case. I'll preface this review with the fact that I pride myself on being able to sleep anywhere. So ok, I walk in the main lobby and to my left is a small bar. There are a surprising number of people there and they are all fairly drunk. I didn't think much of it. I continued on to the check in. There were about 10 kiosks but only one was open. I was stuck behind a couple that was complaining about their room. Once they finished up it was my turn with the clerk. I'm generally a pretty nice person but when I start talking to her she has nothing but attitude. So ok, fine... I'm now checked in and have my basement room. Great. I just want to get to my room and go to sleep. As I walk down to the basement level the air immediately becomes heavy, cold, wet, and saturated with the smell of mildew. I continue on and when I open the door to my room, I am immediately slapped in the face by the smell of a moldy room. All surfaces in the room were also wet. Including the bed. There were also bugs on the bed. Really, the only reason not to just sleep outside at this point, the only reason not to sleep outside is because it's still hot out there. Anyway, I set my stuff down, waited 15 minutes, and then began smelling what I thought was a skunk that may have gotten hit outside my window... There was that small pond outside the window, and then the highway directly after the pond. I was however, completely mistaken. It was simply the people in the next room getting high... Which I'm assuming they had to do to stay in their room. After all this, I decide to ask for a different room. I was very polite about the entire thing. Which was odd because I was greeted with nothing but attitude. Again... From a completely different clerk. She seemed very upset about the fact that I was complaining. Once I was finished with the clerk, I go to my new room. There are dirty dishes on the floor outside the room waiting to greet me. The room smelled less... And was less damp... So... That's a plus. I will however, never be staying it this hotel again.

Cons: No refrigerator, but everything else was great!

Cons: The fact that the people in the room next to me smoked weed all day and night. If I smelled it.. Someone that worked at this hotel should have smelled it. This is just not acceptable

Cons: I had to wait on the room to be cleaned and hair pins lefted on the floor after being cleaned.

Cons: Like Zachary, we also got the room by the pond. getting to the hotel was kind of tricky as we missed our turn in the dark. The room did smell moldy at first, especially the bathroom. Shower fan fixed that and it smelled better after we ran the fan for a while. It appeared we were just down the hall from the kitchen staff? I think the room was overpriced for its location. I would have prefered a room on a higher floor for the price I paid.
