Pros: The room was large and beautifully appointed. All amenities were available. The beds were very comfortable and temperature control was easy.
Cons: Bathrooms are small and plumbing is worn but nice looking and fits the room. The biggest problem I had was two mornings( plus a third I didn't tell staff about) when I couldn't get hot water to the shower. In one case it was a boiler problem and the other two I don't know but possibly regulator plumbing at the shower itself. The staff are exceptional and offered a room upgrade but only on the last evening of my staff so I stayed where I was. I would try this place again because of the kindness and the responsiveness of staff and if going to the theatre.

Pros: This was a wonderful hotel- beautifully restored and renovated. My room was spacious and comfortable. I had read a previous review from a guest who had been disappointed by the size of the bathroom, but I did not experience this problem at all. Every aspect of my room met or exceeded my expectations and the value was exceptional.
Cons: I can't think of any part of my stay that disappointed me. Honestly.

Cons: The walls were paper thin and the door to the room was not closed tight enough to not shake and bang anytime another door was opened or closed on our floor. It kept my girlfriend and I up all night long, I finally called the front desk around 3 am and was told all they could do was extend my checkout by an hour... The free breakfast in the morning was alright but I was too tired to actually enjoy any of it. Room 501 was the loudest room I've ever slept in.

Pros: Very quiet and cozy, with only about 8 rooms per floor. Rooms are small, but nicely appointed and very clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was great. Everything was obviously prepared fresh. Staff are courteous and friendly.

Pros: The staff greeted us warmly and even provided champagne upon our arrival. When we made it to the room it was beautiful with a great view of downtown and all the amenities we could have wanted. Even the water fixtures were stunning. It was a truly fantastic stay and I couldn't recommend it higher.

Pros: The location and proximity to MDAnderson Cancer Hospital was ok, less than 15 minutes to drive there. The decor, though older, was nice too. There was a full size gingerbread house in the lobby, all edible, which we thought was really cool too.
Cons: Reading online that this hotel had a remodel in 2011, I wasn't expecting it to be perfect and pristine, but it was even less than I expected. The carpets coming off the elevator to our floor were stained and looked dirty. Entering the room, everything looked ok, but there was a definite smell to the room. Not overpowering, but not good either. Kind of musty/humid/moldy smelling. The tv was on a dresser not facing the bed, or any of the chairs in the room, so I'm not sure how one is supposed to view it. We were there for one night before our appointment at the MDAnderson Cancer Center, and though we will be making many trips there over the next few years, I'm not sure we will stay at this hotel again. For the price ($156 after taxes), I was expecting better.

Pros: We liked basically everything about this hotel and wish it had been more than a qiuick overnight stay. It was a special birthday trip for me, and I had chocolate strawberries, Prosecco, and a lovely little chocolate cake upon arrival. Our suite was large with a very comfortable bed and huge sofa. Great overall vibe. Our friends had a small but well-apportioned corner room with windows on two full sides and an amazing 20th floor view. Staff was friendly and helpful and bar was comfortable with good drinks. We did not have the opportunity to try the restaurant, but will next time. Great location.

Pros: We really enjoyed the room and the location. It was 2 adults and a 5 yr old. We were there to catch an Astros game and to visit NASA which was only a 30 minute drive away. Minute Maid was within walking distance. Concierge said we could use the complimentary shuttle but we walked to ballpark instead. Hotel was also next to the northbound and southbound light rail so we hopped on that to the museum district. We would definitely stay there again. We didn't use the valet for $36, we found street parking around the corner.
Cons: Got locked out of room at noon even though we had a late check out scheduled. Was no big deal though. They had a bus boy sent up to give us new room keys and they apologized.

The view from my room was construction and graffiti ' ed windows on the building next to us.

Pros: location close to Minute Maid park. Rooms were nice size, free breakfast buffet was spectacular. Maria and the staff in the kitchen during the breakfast and in assisting in attempting to rectify a mistake made by other staff (see 'What didn't you like').
Cons: I called ahead to find out whether I needed to bring our coffee brewer for our own, in room, coffee, and was told they had actual brewers (not those pod-type things). They didn't, and couldn't locate any, and didn't have any answers for how to get what we wanted and what they said they had. They did brew our coffee in their kitchen for us, which was apparently the best they could do. We almost didn't get the early check in they had also promised over the phone; luckily I had the name of the person who granted it, who happened to be the one at the front desk and who initially told us they couldn't check us in early.

Cons: Our room was supposed to be ready for check in at 3, but upon arrival at 4:30, our room still wasn’t ready! The first person we came in contact with told us she was sorry the room wasn’t ready, and then the second guy said they didn’t have 500 maids that could clean them all at once. He did comp our breakfast and gave us two free drinks, but we had to wait for a room to come available. Extremely aggravating! The lighting was terrible in the bathroom and I could hardly see to put on my makeup.

Pros: The hotel seems like it was very nice a few years ago but doesn't feel like it has been kept up to date and doesn't feel clean at all. Our room smelled so much like mildew! Overall not impressed by this hotel.

They charged me over 60 dollars in overnight parking fees without ever asking me whet make or model or license plate number... I didn't even have a car with me on this trip- staff were condescending and rude about my attempting to address these and other issues..... Pros: Johnny at the front desk was spectacular, and was very professional. Gave me recommendations on night life and restaurants. The room was very nice, and the beds were comfortable.
Cons: The valet was decent. It's about $34 a night after tax for one car, but it is downtown Houston. They are very quick about getting your car ready for you when you call for it. At night we called valet for a cab and went down 10 minutes later and they said it had not arrived yet. My group waited 10 more minutes inside the garage before the valet guy told us to stand on the street and try to get one. What is the point of calling ahead for a cab if they wanted us to go flag one down ourselves. There is no on site self parking, but there is a small private owned parking lot connected to the right of the hotel which is $10/ a day where my friend left his car. Check your bill before you leave!! I was charged an extra $20 dollars for "long distance calls." I didn't realize it was considered long distance to call valet down stairs... They were happy to take it off, but I'm glad I checked it.

Cons: The pool closes before 10:00, and it's a main attraction, it's coming apart, and it's SUPER cold even in August. The smoke detectors go off when you dry your hair. Very annoying. No complimentary breakfast unless you pay a LOT extra for some overly-fancy room. This place looks so much better than it actually is. Very expensive and doesn't offer anything special.

Pros: I attended a conference here and felt pampered throughout. The hotel itself is beautiful and every person working there was friendly and super helpful The conference area was open and welcoming with wide staircases linking the 3 main floors.

Pros: The staff was really personable from the valets to Jorge to the counter staff. The hotel has a very appealing luxury façade but wait until you get to the room.
Cons: The room air conditioner did not cool the room. The ceiling had what looked like "black mold" but at closer look may be lent from the air conditioner vent. The room area that housed the ice maker looked very neglected which made me feel that the hotel was beautiful on the surface only.

Cons: I booked well in advance, but was given the room next to the elevator because they were sold out. The front desk person did try to be honest about it when I checked in, but didn't have any alternatives. The shower made a horrible chugging noise, and fixtures in the bathroom had visible rust. Also, although downtown Houston is not a walkers' paradise anyway, we were barely in the downtown center and had to walk 20 minutes or more to get to decent restaurants.

Cons: We found that the noise from the highway can be very loud and make it challenging for children to sleep at night. We also found cockroaches in the bathroom and that is not good indication of cleanliness. We raised the fact that we found the cockroaches to the hotel staff and their response was okay we will inform the housekeeping.

Cons: Rooms were not good. Beds were terrible. Possibly the worst hotel beds I have slept in. Noisy and kept the kids up as they are light sleepers. The hotel itself smelled old and the rooms did as well. There was mold in the inside bath/shower unit. We left the hotel as soon as we could. Staff were fantastic. The employees in the hotel did a great job.

Cons: Valet a little pricey. Did not end up leaving my car overnight so they charged me daily rate instead of over night rate. Although my car was literally parked to drop off my bags and change and then again to get my bags the next morning. So probably a combined hour of parking. But they were all really nice and helpful in changing it from the overnight rate to the daily rate.

I had the reservation for less than 24 hours and I cancelled it 24 hours before I would have checked in, but I was still charged for the first night. Cons: The rooms were tiny. You could hear EVERYTHING from the street. Our room vent clicked every time it was on. There was no separation from bathroom sink to living and the lights for the entire bathroom area was on one switch. So I couldn’t take a shower without disturbingly waking up my other half. Lastly the music in the lounge on Friday night was LOUD and made us not want to sit down there and enjoy drinks.
