Reserved and prepaid for a car. Once I arrive there was no car. They do not seem to understand how reservations work. We were put in a major bind and nearly missed the even we flew in for. The young man behind the desk gets 5 stars for trying his best to find us another rental car from another agency. When I booked the Hertz car they booked me at a downtown location and not the airport. I had never been to Kansas City so I just assumed the location was off site and I would take a tram from the airport. When I got to the Hertz desk at the airport they said I was in the wrong place and they had no cars that I could rent. By the time I got into town they told me they had given my car away and they did not have a car for me. They said they would try to get me one the following day and they would call me. They tried to slip in an extra $80 charge for my car. When I asked them what it was for and attendant named Ashley made me wait for 30 minutes to speak to her supervisor. When I finally get to the supervisor all he did was make stupid dad jokes about how his day was going. He called me into his office, did not invite me to sit down, and spent 10 minutes determining that he has no idea what Ashley was doing. When I asked if this was of any concern— That his employees are just charging customers, large sums of money with no Justification, he just stared at me., And aggressive. Never go with her. Every couple years I Go with them because of a low price, and I get reminded why this is such a shitty company.Reviewed 23 Jul 2024

They did not have our car ready at the time it was reserved, and did not have an idea of when it would be ready. Therefore, we had to make alternate travel arrangements the same day, over the holidays, which was a huge issue.Reviewed 3 Jan 2022

Customer service was poor. I was charged for pick-up and drop-off at 2 different locations even after she confirmed with me I was dropping off at the same location. I will now have to dispute it. She didn't explain that even after my initial payment of $201, that my card would be charged another $261 for some reason and when I called customer service the next day, the guy explained that it was a deposit that wouldn't be charged after I return the car. However, the extra charge remains for inter-city drop-off. And, the person at the desk pointed out and told us to select a car from the "right" but if there weren't any to go to the "left" and when we got outside, there weren't any cars in the Compact area at all! So we just got in one! I still don't know if we chose correctly or if I am to be charged again! Not a choice I want to make with no help after a long day of traveling. We gave 3 days of cancellation notice because of SW airlines having there pilot problems and they kept $50.00 instead of refusing our full amount. It’s a bad policy and provides a bad service. I will never use Hertz again.Reviewed 24 Oct 2021
