The rental was arranged through Kayak, so I’m not sure if Kayak or Hertz is the problem here. The arrangement I made through Kayak wasn’t even available because the drop-off location wasn’t open on the selected day. Even worse, the car I selected wasn’t even available at the pickup location. Even I though I paid for a rental car, I never actually used one. I had to arrange different plans since time was a concern. Again, I’m not sure who’s responsible for this mixup but these are issues that shouldn’t happen when making reservations. I’m guessing there should be better communication between Kayak and the companies they’re working with.Reviewed 5 Dec 2022

Called 20 mins before time of pickup and said they didn't have any cars, even though rate said guaranteed and was paid for in advance. Asked local office when they might have a car for my employee and they said, try back in 4-5 days! umm. no, bud that won't work!Reviewed 16 Nov 2022

The car was like a go cart. The passenger rear view mirror didn’t work, there were dents and scratches, with rust, the dashboard lights were so dim they were unreadable at night, and the tire pressure light was on because the tires were low on air. The drop off was so crowded they just told us to leave the keys in the cup holder and they’d deal with it later. Never had so many issues renting a car or the having a car with so many issues. It was supposed to be a Ford Focus or similar. It was a Mitsubishi Mirage with the bare minimum. Not a great experience. I rented from VIPCars earlier in the week for less $ and got a Ford Fusion that had no mechanical issues. This rental with Hertz through Kayak was terribleReviewed 20 Aug 2022

I purposely rented a van for space. During my flight to Birmingham, I had a voicemail left telling me that my confirmed van was not available. They "upgraded" me to a smaller vehicle and one with worse gas mileage. Caused me a lot of hassle due to the smaller size. I rented a van because I needed the space and would be carrying items. I would not have used Hertz if I had known a van was not an option. What's the point of a confirmation when it's actually not confirmed????Reviewed 8 Aug 2022
