Cons: not much. Dirty car, especially the glass, Alamo needs to spend more time cleaning the inside and glass (inside and out, could barely see! Cleaned it myself, of course) and pay less attention to the paint job, paint job won't save my life, and I spent majority of time IN the car, not looking at it.

Pros: The price and quick drop off!! The mini van was actually a great ride and comfortable.
Cons: The fact that searching for the car at pick up sucked!! It was in the space we were told it was and had to walk around trying the alarm to find the van...once we located it...I had to go back in and say that even though it was supposed to be "no smoking" the van smelled like cigarette smoke, so we wouldn't be charged with that..then to inquire as what I was supposed to do with the form for damage. I was just used to employees of the rental company walking with you to check out the vehicle. The van also has candy on the side of the passenger seat which meant it wasn't cleaned thoroughly but I wiped it down before my children rode in it.

Pros: Gas mileage was great!
Cons: The lady at the front counter in Birmingham was sour and curt. She seemed like she didnt even want to cooperate, just because I came to pick up the car earlier than the time I indicated when I did the rental transaction online. The pick-up drop-off times simply had defaulted to 12:00 and 12:00. She also charged me for a 2-day rental with no explanation, but zt that point I just wanted to get on my way and handle that issue at MIA drop-off. And, yes, I got the over charge fixed by the MIA Alamo personnel, very simply and kindly.

Cons: The Alamo booth isn't clearly labeled at the bhm airport. It's shared with the National rental booth but I didn't find that out until I asked one of the National guys where the Alamo booth was.

Quick service and very clean car
Pros: The car had 700 miles on it and was Bluetooth ready for hands free.

Don't try to change your plans!!
Cons: I was travelling for work this week and had to change my plans last minute so I had to switch my drop off location and I was charged an extra $350 which was more than I had to pay for the whole rental. I contacted Alamo's customer service who were extremely rude and said this is the rate and there is nothing they can do. The fact that I had their car and was forced to pay this amount felt like I was taken advantage of and had no choice in the matter.

Cons: Check in was a long involved pain, and once I got through it all, was told I was not able to rent a car because I didn't carry a major credit card and was renting for a one-way travel from ATL to BHM. Was largely inconvenient and was sent to another company that could accommodate. It cost me an extra hour in the airport and ended up spending a lot more. I wouldn't recommend Alamo or really Kayak for that matter.

Cons: My only issue was that there was a leak in the tire, which was not explained to me at check in. There was a note around the car keys that said "slow leak," but the issue was never discussed with me so I overlooked the note. After driving the car for a few hours I received a low pressure warning which remained on throughout my rental time. I think explaining an issue like a slow leak during check in is ideal, so that the customer has the option of requesting a new car if they plan to drive a long distance.

Pros: Th car worked. The people there were nice enough and meant well.
Cons: The car had a seatbelt that sticks, no fuel cap, and the gas prepay was significantly more than gas in the surrounding area. It took a long time to get the car too.

Cons: The rate that i was charged when I got to the counter was nearly double what I was given online.
The car was not clean. someone water bottle was in the cup holder. Front windows were greasy like they haven't been cleaned in months.
The drop off was not staffed and disorganized, car lined up and no one checking them in. I waited and no one showed up and I walked away and dropped the keys at the counter.

Pros: We were late and the line was long, but they had us on the road pretty quickly. So glad for their late hours at Atlanta Hartsfield and for convenient after-hours drop off at Birmingham Shuttlesworth. Very nice car, too.

Cons: had to wait 3 hrs for my rental car reservation. all the other companies at the airport seemed much more organized. Thrifty was the only company having problems with the busy weekend.
Cons: when I called to discuss pickup, I was told "oh, I was going to call you! We have your reservation, but we don't have any cars. This caused me considerable inconvenience.

Cons: When we took the vehicle back to Norfolk Airport there was a few issues. I called they said on the recording they were open till 11:30 pm. Door said 10:00pm. Got there before 9:00pm not a soul in site.

Pros: While out of town for business in Tuscaloosa, my car had a starter go out. I was able to rent a vehicle from Birmingham, use it for the remainder of the day and return it the next morning in Tuscaloosa when my car’s repairs were done. Thank you so much for that option!! It saved me so much time and logistical nightmare!

Cons: The Maintenance Required light came on during my trip likely indicating that it is time for an oil change.
Cons: Would not rent me the car. I refused to use a credit card and my credit rating through whatever soft check they conducted prevented me from obtaining a car. I had plenty of money to rent a vehicle and was extremely embarrassed. None the less, Hertz had no problem helping me out and I obtained a vehicle in ten minutes. I will NEVER try and rent from Payless again and for the rest of my life I will willingly discourage anyone from renting with this company.

Good vehicle; counter personnel was lackluster
Pros: The vehicle met my needs at a very good price.
Cons: The counter agent looked disheveled and disinterested I was interested in purchasing the fuel and insurance options, but handed me the paperwork with everything marked declined (without asking). When I asked what the fuel option cost, he responded that he wasn't sure but he believed it was around $2.49/gallon. While it's possible that he was right, the price at the pump ranged between $1.85 and $1.99, so I believe he materially overestimated the cost so that I would not have him change the already printed paperwork. Further, he handed me keys with a form tapped to them noting that if I saw any damage larger than a quarter to mark it on the sheet and bring it back to him. I found several dents and scratches on the car (though non that likely exceeded the quarter-size threshold he specified), so I marked them and took the sheet inside. He took the sheet from me and I left. I later realized that I probably should have kept that sheet and have him initial it so that I kept the documentation that the car was received in that condition. All said -- my experience at the counter was below par, and I believe this staff would benefit from some additional training and a reminder that he plays a significant role in shaping the customer experience! Great with 1 exception
Pros: Renting a car from Payless was an overal great experience. Customer service was great, the car was clean, in great shape and comfortable.
Cons: I asked to drop off in a different location and if there was a cost. I was told I have to bring the car back to that location only. Even though renting a car from Payless was an overal great experience, I might not be able to rent from Payless in the future due to this doesn't meet my overal needs if I need to drop the car in a different location but can't.

Pros: The staff was so friendly. I already had my reservation but wanted an upgrade. The car wasn’t ready but they worked as quickly as they could to get me a new contract while they got the car ready. In a short 15 minutes I had a beautiful Cadillac CTS and I was on my way. Thank you Hertz.

Somehow my pickup was scheduled an hour before the pick up office was to close. I had no idea
Our flight got in late.
The combination meant that I would not be able to get a car without a second booking, outside of Kayak.
I called Kayak customer support to fix this. Kayak was "closed for the holidays"

Pickup Was not at the Airport
Cons: Despite the fact that I searched for rentals from the Birmingham airport what I actually got was something miles away from the airport. Since I didn't notice the discrepancy in address this reservation was completely useless to me.
What's more as I was standing at the Hertz counter the next person to come up had the same issue. This is clearly a scam and I hope you go down in legal flames.
