Pros: Drop off was fine.
Cons: I have used Avis Preferred for convenience and service in the past. The car had two very noticeable dents in the side and there was no notation of this anywhere. I had to flag down an Avis garage person to get information on how to document this. I then had to tell the person at the exit gate and she gave me a hand written note. I could have saved over $35 if I had used Fox Rental, but I chose Avis for their usual reliability and service which they did not provide. The car was not very clean - lots of water spots on the glass and exterior mirrors.
Cons: They didn't have a small-sized car that I originally requested, and first gave me a large Ford sedan that was very loud (the moment you turn it on, it makes a VROOM noise without accelerating), and when I requested a different car they said they only had a large SUV, so I ended up taking that which was very uncomfortable to drive.
Pros: Staff was friendly
Cons: The car interior didn't seem clean
Pros: Staff was great
Cons: I tried to change my reservation via the phone, but was unable to reach anyone. I ended up just dropping the car off a full day early, but was charged the full amount.
Pros: Pick up staff were nice. Drop off staff were not very friendly and seemed understaffed. I had to wait to check out and get my receipt.
Pros: Jay from the Bay was awesome.
Cons: Nothing! I got a hybrid and it was sweet. Put more of these into your fleet!
Cons: The car was old, the cost was high, and the check-in was the WORST!! They had five people standing around and it took me an hour to get a car!
Cons: The two hour wait at pick up was RIDICULOUS. Avis has TERRIBLE customer service.
Pros: Poorly trained staff, tried to upsell insurance even though I’d already purchased some insurance on kayak site (agent told me that was worthless). At checkout they tried to charge me $660 for $330 quoted charge. Took a half hour to get “preferred customer” counter to reinstate quoted price.
Cons: CHECK YOUR FINAL RECEIPT BEFORE LEAVING LOT. Poorly trained staff on front and back end (at SFO and PDX), rude manager, and worst of all they double-charged me when I brought the car back. Took half hour at “preferred customer” counter to get them to take double charge off and charge quoted price
Cons: SFO is an expensive airport to rent a one way vehicle
Cons: Clarity around terms “preferred”
Good car to value ratio
Pros: Car was a good brand and good quality.
