Siracusa hotels near Museo Regionale di Arte Medioevale e Moderna

Pros: Good solid hotel, great location. This is an excellent four-star level hotel, great rooms, great service, incredible breakfast, in a perfect location next to the most incredible church in Siracusa, the only building which has continually served as a place of religious observation of one sort or the other for over three thousand years.

Cons: I did not dislike anything, in fact there is one feature of staying at this hotel which amazed me. Guests are allowed to make phone calls anywhere in the world gratis. This is wonderful. Also, another good thing: the staff were very accommodating regarding a few minor difficulties we had regarding my rental car and my need to extend my stay.

Pros: Located in the centre of Ortygia, easy access to historical landmarks and hop-on hop-off bus stop at Archimede. Many restaurants nearby serve good Italian dishes.

Cons: Floor in shower room was a bit slippery. Area is located at crowded path causing a bit noisy until mid night.

Pros: Fabulous location, very informative and helpful staff, especially Enzo. Breakfast was very good, with lots of variety for all tastes. Nothing was too much trouble for staff to deal with, excellent eating recommendations.

Cons: Noise from street—bottles being trashed nor recycled at 6:00 am.

Cons: Our room turned out to be on the ground floor and there was noise of garbage trucks and bottles dumping in the night. I think that's par for the course in a tiny city center, but we did not think we had booked a ground floor room.

Pros: The location was fabulous and the staff were very helpful.

Cons: Our “sea view” room, number 103 was on the first floor and just outside was a bustling cafe and the sea walk. It was incredibly noisy and felt as if we were in the middle of every conversation. Very diasappointing, especially for the price.

Pros: This boutique hotel is well located on Ortygia, The room and decks have fabulous ocean views. The island is easy to walk around and has very impressive buildings and public spaces. The hotel staff are wonderful and fluent English speakers. The breakfast buffet was the best I experienced while in Sicily. The rroms are quirky reflecting the age of the building, but very comfortable.

Pros: This hotel is very cozy, even though we could not fully enjoy the out door areas of the property due to weather conditions. The staff is very hospitable and helpful. The breakfast was one of the best we encountered during our 3 week trip in Sicily. The property is at one end of Ortigia, away from the tourist throngs. Hop on hop off bus is nearby, so getting to the archeology sites and museum was easy. We would stay here again.

Cons: There was nothing not to like.

Pros: Beautiful setting and such fantastic charm and style . After a disastrous booking experience with another hotel at the very beginning of our holiday we were almost put off returning to Siracusa at the end as planned. Happily the Henry’s House has availability and am so glad as they helped enormously restore my faith both in local hoteliers and the city itself . They have put so much care and thought into creating a really unique small hotel which really reflects the whole beauty, historical character and warmth of Ortigia island . The breakfast was nothing short of superb as an example of delicious homemade buffet and excellent coffee. Sitting on that terrace overlooking the water - just sublime .

Cons: Cannot think of a single thing .

Pros: The location of Henry’s House is great and the morning breakfast was wonderful (though by this point in our trip, we weren’t looking for the richest Italian breakfast). The staff was also super helpful and friendly, and our room had an awesome view of the sea, and the complimentary mini bar was very charming.

Cons: The hotel was fairly noisy. Our room was near the lobby and sitting area, but it felt like we were in the lobby and sitting area as the walls seemed paper thin and you could hear nearly everything. You could also hear things from other rooms, which made the night pretty restless. The beds are super old and uncomfortable. And the overall cleanliness felt a bit iffy, especially upon seeing a baby cockroach in the bathroom.

Pros: Position in the town. Local restaurants, ie ARCHE

Cons: Room not available until 4 pm Limited prepared fresh fruit, and no low fat yogurt. Although the hotel had very few guests and we were in a superior room swimming in the pool was extra, WHY? Very pushy welcoming manager, who always had to 'refresh her memory' opening times etc. Not helpful reception staff re paying for parking on the space in front of the hotel, annoyed we did not use your underground parking.

Pros: Beautiful place with friendly staff, great breakfast buffet and comfortable beds

Cons: Wish they would clean up the garbage on the outside of the property, particularly at the back. Seems to be an issue in Sicily in many places

Cons: Bathroom had bath with hand held shower. Would have preferred walk in shower - personal choice.

Pros: The bed was exceptional and so were the pillows and sheets. The view was great, ac worked.

Cons: The LED lighting in the room was bad, the small shower unbearable, and the overall decor not to my liking.

Pros: Superb location right in the heart of Ortigia, housed in a grand old building. Room was of a loft style, with a large bed on the mezzanine floor. Comfortable bed, bright room, and has two toilets (very useful). Breakfast was generally of good quality. Ample parking in front of the property (for travellers with cars).

Cons: Service attitude of some of the staff was unacceptably poor, for a "luxury" property. Two examples - (i) there is ample public parking next door, convenient for drivers. When we checked in, we were told that we could opt to pay for valet (at 30 euro for 24 hours), or park at the public lots (one euro per hour; payment either via parking machine or the EasyPark phone app). We opted for valet the first day, but on the second day we parked at the public lots. We received an inexplicable parking fine the next morning, although valid payment had been made. We approached the reception staff for assistance when we returned, and they told us they would email the local police (with a screenshot of our payment) and keep us informed the next morning. When we checked the next morning a different receptionist (female, with dark shoulder length curly hair) immediately told us with a defensive tone that the hotel could do nothing, as we were at fault for not using the hotel valet service. This attitude was poor and offensive, and beside the point. The fact is her colleagues made a very simple offer of contacting the police, and we were not at fault if the instructions were not clearly passed on. Also, the male manager present, whilst the conversation was getting heated right next to the breakfast guests, did not make any gesture to calm the situation down, and only offered to check when the receptionist left us without a word of apology, and we had to protest to another female receptionist present. When we returned later in the afternoon, this same receptionist was the one who had to appease us (whilst the manager and the first receptionist were nowhere to be seen) (ii) room cleaning was poor - we had left a cup of tea from the morning on the table in the room, this was not cleared away when we returned, and neither was bottled water refilled. We had to complain at the reception before they sent room service up to remedy. Bed was poorly made as well.

Pros: I like the location, the clean room and comfortable contemporary design. Breakfast is good. The fitness gym center is below 5 start expectation.

Cons: Generally speaking, The staff are green ( sophistication level not match 5 star nor luxury expectation . Lack of warm welcome smile from a five start hotel host. The breakfast staff should volunteer to offer manue to customer since this is included in the breakfast, not wait till customer ask.

Pros: Breakfast cereals limited but other aspects of breakfast buffet excellent. Room 105 outstanding and very comfortable. Views over harbour delightful and easy parking for cars just outside hotel.

Cons: Room cleaning could be better, there is no carpet in the room and no mats in the gym so stretching is not easy to do unless you bring your own mat.

Pros: Location was great although parking was rare without paying highly for it

Pros: Location and staff. Very easy to really explore the island on foot. Staff very helpful and spoke wonderful English. As well- views to the water were nice.

Cons: I must fave missed the detail indicating it had been a convent. LOTS of religious pictures, etc. Furniture and window treatments were dated, dark and heavy. All was clean but it just wasn’t an uplifting place.

Pros: Breakfast was very unpredictable, if you arrived before too many others had arrived then there was a reasonable choice. However it would have been nice to have ripe fruit and not just bananas. There was small plate of bruschetta which if you were lucky you could get one!

Cons: The room we had the air conditioning did not work and despite trying twice to get it fixed it never was. Also the safe did not work in the room as the battery was flat. We were told it would be replaced but never happened. The Hotel is in a great position but it could be fantastic with a little more attention to detail.

Pros: Very good hotel and overall experience in Ortigia. This hotel is perfectly located on the island and offers high level standards.

Cons: The room was cold, small, furniture broken, nowhere to put vital items needed, housekeeping moved my items, hanging items were too high couldn't reach ( I am 5,3) , only one person could pass at a time, and the bathroom door butted up against the toilet, and the towel holder was across the room over the bathtub. Extremely inconvenient ! Was not worth 314.10 Euros per night.

Pros: We booked one of the junior suites. These rooms have an in built mezzanine floor in a standard bedroom. We chose to move to a standard double room , which was more suitable. The Manager kindly offered to refund us the difference in price and also provided us with breakfast. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a great bathroom. The best thing about the hotel was sitting on the terrace to have breakfast with a view out to the harbour. We had a very good stay and Siracusa is a stunning city.

Cons: The breakfast choices could be improved- a better range of breads, soya milk, fresher scrambled egg,

Pros: Great location with views across the bay and a hotel full of character and efficient, friendly and charming staff who are ready to help at every moment. The hotel has a great style and feeling when walking around and small touches - like the calendar made from stones in the central garden that is visible when using the lift and which some staff member must change manually each day. The third floor restaurant is great and breakfast is very extensive and varied. We ate only once in the evening there - is expensive but very good quality. I am full of praise for several particular members of staff who were constantly welcoming, friendly and super helpful in meeting every one of our requirments

Cons: There were a few things that need some attention and modernization. Lots of light switches in the rooms and strange air conditioning controls that were hard to figure out. (Some lights in my room actually switched themselves on and off once or twice in a random way during the night). TV seems to have only Italian channels. Also, during a couple of rainstorms there was some rain coming in the window panes and a leak developed in one of the corridor ceilings that led to towels being spread out on the floor to soak up water.

Pros: Did not have breakfast. Had to leave early.

Cons: Coffee could be improved.
