Top tips for finding Pittsburgh hotel deals

  • If you’re looking for a cheap hotel in Pittsburgh, you should consider visiting during the low season. You'll find cheaper accommodations in Pittsburgh in February and January.
  • Hotel room prices vary depending on many factors but you’ll most likely find the best hotel deals in Pittsburgh if you stay on a Sunday. The opposite is true for, Thursday, which is usually the most expensive day.
  • Book at least 90 days before your stay begins to get the best price for your Pittsburgh accommodation.
  • How long should you stay? KAYAK users usually book their accommodation in Pittsburgh for 2 days.
  • If you’re traveling to Pittsburgh to see the Pittsburgh Riverhounds play, or if you’re simply a sports fan, consider staying in a hotel in the North Shore neighborhood. It’s the home of Pittsburgh’s two largest sports stadiums, Avaya Stadium and Spartan Stadium. One hotel you might consider is the Hyatt Place Pittsburgh-North Shore, within walking distance of PNC Park.
  • Hoping to get some shopping done during your trip? Book a hotel near the shopping mall known as the Waterfront. The Waterfront has more than 50 stores, as well as numerous restaurants and entertainment options. The Courtyard by Marriott at the West Homestead location is a great choice that will place you directly in proximity to the shopping center.
  • For those who would like to stay in the urban center of Pittsburgh, consider booking a hotel in downtown, such as the Fairmont Pittsburgh. Downtown Pittsburgh is full of boutiques, restaurants like McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks and parks like the Point State Park.
  • If you’re planning on visiting Pittsburgh with your family, look at hotels in the Allegheny West neighborhood, near the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. The Comfort Inn is an affordable choice that provides standard amenities and a location near the Carnegie Science Center, another good option for children.
  • Interested in experiencing Pittsburgh’s extensive nightlife? Book a hotel in the South Side, such as the Distrikt Hotel. The South Side offers a high concentration of both bars and well-known restaurants, and it’s home to the City Theatre Company.

Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh, An IHG Hotel9/10 ratingout of 63 reviewsDowntown · $164 avg price/ night
Beautiful hotel. The common areas and rooms are beautifully decorated. Front desk staff were clueless. Manager was super nice, smart and helpful but she can only do so much. I hope/speculate this is maybe a product of having challenges hiring new employees as the two problematic front desk folks who had "challenges" in short (two different times) seemed either very new and while professional, simply not helpful or smart. The manager was super smart, nice and professional. No laundry bags (the usual plastic bags in a closet) in the rooms - odd - and the gym could have been tended to better; e.g., water cooler stopped working so I let them know at the front desk and said the towels were gone as well - they later fixed the water cooler but did not leave a lot of towels so they were short again the next day; also, the wipes dispenser kept getting jammed and I had to clear it on two separate days. Nevertheless, the gym appeared to be quite clean so I am guessing they cleaned it regularly but just didn't check to restock stuff at least on busy weekends. The complimentary coffee (and tea) on the first floor was delicious; however, it's not around for early risers (and no coffee in rooms so starting an hour or two earlier would be better. The valet is responsive but be aware that it shuts down from 11 pm through 7 am - they never told us this so when a daughter's flight got switched to early am, I texted for the car and received an auto text reply saying give them 10 to 15 minutes (understandable) but 20 minutes passed and no word and then received a text saying no valet available -- the front desk clerk merely said "you should have been told". Fortunately, the actual valet guy was great and had gone anyway unbeknownst to front desk clerk (no communication) and arrived a few minutes later so all is well ... just not a well oiled machine. Again, very happy with super professional manager at the front desk - she was great - and the cleanliness, comfort and look of the rooms and common areas (adult daughters really liked it.)

When I arrived the staff rushed me and check in. She spoke so fast I did not understand what she said. I felt like I was bothering some of the staff when asking questions about our 3 days stay, however; some of the staff at the breakfast area was excellent.
