Cons: The hotel was helpful in all ways I got stuck there during a typhoon where no boats, cars, or planes could leave the island. So i just had book something and this is what was available. The staff was helpful and full lf good smiles. They were good in giving information and checking things up regarding the typhoon. The suites were great with an exellent view . Didt really get enjoy it and check the rest of the property out since we checked in late and left early morning

Cons: The staff are pretty rude! Not the front desk but everywhere else. No bother in helping you at all and if they do they are very rude about it and just point you instead of really helping! Not so foreign friendly at all.. Please teach staff to be more courteous to guest! i don't know if that's just how they are but in Las Vegas everyone is very courteous and helpful rather than just pointing! This is what makes Las Vegas one of kind! They really make you not want to leave!!!

Cons: Macau is expensive. Food, transport and activities. Taxi drivers can't speak English so be prepared with the printout of the Chinese words, of the venue you are heading.

Our room was exceptional and the bonus of using the Lounge on floor 17 was cherry on the cake.
Literally everything about our stay was fantastic, not a single bad word to say! We barely left the hotel except a quick visit to the casino at the Venetian.
We will absolutely be coming back!

Cons: Having made the booking the hotel charged MOP 10 to my credit card - I assume to check its validity. No problem with that, but that ROP 10 was not reimbursed to me at check out. This is not a lot of money, but assuming this happens to every guest then Sofitel is making unjustifiable additional revenue for which no service is provided. A bit naughty!

Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the friendly filipino staff, they make our trip more interesting with their advices and tips about the city. Pros: Great hotel with great amenities in a great location. Pool facility is fantastic and staff was extremely accomodating. Room itself was a tad dated, but upkeep was great. Location near the main ferry terminal is fantastic.
With regards to some of the poorer reviews, the key is value. If you are showing up here and expecting a brand new five-star hotel, you are going to be a little disappointed. If that is what you want, there are plenty of options down the street that cost 5X as much. For me, I found the Grand Lapa to be a tremendous value that exceeded my expectations.

Pros: Excellent hotel with excellent location. Extremely clean and comfortable. Easy to access everywhere. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the friendly filipino staff, they make our trip more interesting with their advices and tips about the city. We were impressed by the efficiency housekeeping too. Would definitely recommend this hotel to everybody. It’s true example of hospitality. Pros: Great hotel with great amenities in a great location. Pool facility is fantastic and staff was extremely accomodating. Room itself was a tad dated, but upkeep was great. Location near the main ferry terminal is fantastic.
With regards to some of the poorer reviews, the key is value. If you are showing up here and expecting a brand new five-star hotel, you are going to be a little disappointed. If that is what you want, there are plenty of options down the street that cost 5X as much. For me, I found the Grand Lapa to be a tremendous value that exceeded my expectations.

Cons: I booked at wrong timing. It is in construction for remodeling the hotel. It is very noisy. They startet at 10am - 6pm. The hotel seems a little bit old school. That is why it needs to be remodeled and offered a low price for me.

Cons: Receptionists are very poor, no smile with zero welcome from them. Other staffs are not helpful and seems to be a culture thingy whereby staffs don't really smile for their customers. Feedback on the first day about the faulty lock, and it remains the same after 4 days later. Bad service.

Cons: After a long day in Macau, me and my friend wanted to use the spa at the hotel. After looking at the information about the spa on their website we decided to go there. When we got there, a guy at the entrance stopped me and told us rudely that the spa is for men only. I didn’t understand his poor English at first and decided to go down to the lobby to ask where the spa for women was. The guy in the lobby explained that the hotel only have a spa for men, which was not mentioned on their website. Also the people working in the reception were not really friendly during our check in experience. We got the feeling that we were not welcome there. But the guys that were standing by the entrance door were really helpful and kind. There were also no restaurants at the hotel, or we did not find any. Would not recommend this hotel.

On the second floor is the hotel restaurant. There are a few local restaurants around the square in front of the hotel, two supermarkets within a few minutes walk and loads of other options for food and drinks as you go closer to the main sightseeing area in the World Heritage area. During our recent stay, our room was the same as what we had experienced previously at Hotel S. The room included Two single beds, both comfortable. There is a small table, desk & chair, flat screen TV, fridge, kettle and a Nespresso machine (3 capsules) and a safe. There is plenty of space for luggage, fair views of the city if you are on upper level floors. The bathroom is standard size and fine.

Buses to and from Taipa village, the outer harbour and the Zhuzhai gate pass by right in front of the hotel, very convenient. most sites of the center Macau are within walking distance.

Pros: The housekeeping staff actually proposed that I allow their staff to bring my laundry home to wash as it is cheaper than the hotel's laundry services. It came back clean and folded nicely! The front desk lady who helped me call a cab actually came out of the the counter and helped me bringu luggage down to the main road to wait for the cab and she ensured that I got onto the cab before she went back. These are the little stuff that touches me and makes me want to go go back to them. Location is good too. Near eateries and the square.

Chinese restos are near the place. 7/11 is around 50 meters away. tourist spots are walking distance from this hotel. hotel service is very good especially the Chinese frontliner guy who assisted me around 3am in the morning when I arrived. he accepted my 2 bags for safekeeping while I walk around and tour the city until my check in time 3pm.

I didn't catch what he wanted to tell to me but it turns out he only needs a deposit for the reserved rooms. Front desk personnel should have good communication skills because they're the frontliners.

Pros: We decided to spend one night in Macao and quickly started looking for affordable decent accommodation. After some research, we were VERY lucky to find this super little hotel which offered a good room rate, free breakfast and a perfect location. Once we arrived at Gongbei Port in Macao, it was easy to grab a metred taxi which took us directly to our hotel door within a quick 15minute drive : 50 Hong Kong Dollars. Macao accepts Hong Kong Dollars as well as their own currency (MOP) Pataca. The hotel staff spoke English (heavily accented) but still very helpful and friendly. There is an English speaking currency exchange right next to the hotel. The room was quiet, small and clean but had everything we needed for one night including a hairdryer. There were also complimentary bottles of water in the room. The room also has some basic complimentary toiletries (soap/shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, Q tips, comb, etc) and slippers. The rate includes a basic breakfast of cereal, fabulous coffee, juice, noodles, eggs, bacon, sausage, rice porridge, salad and fried rice. The hotel is in a GREAT location with historic tourist attractions (Ruins of St Paul's, Senado Square, Forte de Macao and a lot more) within walking distance +- 12minutes walk. There are many restaurants within walking distance, mini supermarkets, and even a McDonalds close by [next to a large ParknShop Supermarket]. We would highly recommend you eat at the little eatery next to the hotel called Roomage 30 - the food and service are fantastic. Kindly note that the hotel does not offer any parking and street parking is very limited. I have included some photos of the hotel exterior, reception area, room, park opposite the hotel and currency exchange next door.

Cons: Noisy and rude mainlanders (what's new?) made would be an enjoyable experience horrible. Had to call front desk twice to get them to tell them to shut up. First time I called it didn't seem to work. Second time I got someone who couldn't speak English unlike the previous guy. Had to go downstairs and muster up my limited Chinese to tell him what is going on. He told them to be quiet but they continued afterwards.
This place needs to always have someone on duty who can speak English and Chinese!
