Jerusalem hotels near Church of the Holy Sepulchre

Pros: Each time we come to stay at the Leonardo Plaza it feels like we are coming home. Staff are - without exception - well-groomed, polite, friendly and happy to help. Breakfast is fabulous. A real diet-buster... Rooms are extremely comfortable and well-lit. Views on the Old-City side are breathtaking. Generous with towels, toiletries, bath-robes, water etc. Gym is spotless and well-equipped.

Cons: Free parking for guests would be helpful. AC in rooms is noisy

Pros: Good location and easy to see from a distance when locating the hotel. Pool area is ok with good towels provided. Friendly reception and waiting staff at breakfast. Good cotton bedding.

Cons: The whole hotel needs freshening up and modernising. Was pretty expensive considering the style and furnishings.

Cons: We requested a room update which was supposed to include a large double/queen size bed; a sofa, a balcony; and a mini bar. Only the balcony was attached to the room....the other upgrades were absent. A lot of extra money for a balcony

Cons: Free faltered water was not available in the lobby 24/7 as it is in most other hotels in a hot country.

Pros: Staff was very friendly. Ronit, guest relations manager wasn’t lovely. They had a nice cocktail hour.

Cons: Hotel Is dated. It was hard to access from the street - you had to walk down a ramp way and there was no indication where the entrance was. There was a lot of construction going on nearby. I’m general it was ok but certainly not 5 star hotel as indicated.

Pros: The location was close enough to the old city to walk to. That’s the only plus point.

Cons: Being made to wait until 7pm to check in on arrival. Dirty and torn sheets which were not changed even after 3 separate requests. We had to speak with the manager for them to be changed. Our entire group was given twin rooms despite booking - and paying extra for - doubles. Safes broken in two of the rooms, one was never fixed. Doors access cards did not work and we had to be let into our rooms by security each night which took up to 30 mins. Each night! Bathrooms were dirty and toiletries not replenished. Water was not replenished in two rooms but it was in one room. When we asked for water the receptionist said she would charge for it! Staff made zero efforts to address any of the issues despite repeated requests - only speaking with the duty manager got us clean bed linens. Mattress springs poking out on the the side of the bed and I cut myself on it. Receptionist, Tehila, actually sneered and shrugged when we said we were disappointed and unhappy that things were not being fixed in our room. And said: ‘it’s not for me to do’ Stale sandwich for 12gbp when we had to wait for almost 2 hours to be checked in. Rooms were dated, bathrooms were dated and dirty. Nothing like the photos online. Terrible value for money and if this is a 5-star hotel then I’m Donald Duck.

Pros: The breakfast spread is one of the best in the world! Top top quality food. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Super location!

Pros: The property exudes its history, which is absolutely fascinating. Location is good, walking distance to both the Old Town and restaurants of the City Centre.

Cons: To my mind it does not merit its 5 star rating, at least when compared to the “average” 5 star hotel elsewhere (in particular the elite international brands). While undeniably an important fixture in Jerusalem’s modern history, as a place to stay the hotel appears to be sitting on its laurels and living on past glories (those “glories” being evidenced for all to see by the copies of signatures of famous past guests which pave the reception area). The room was perfectly nice, but dated and the air conditioning could do with a thorough clean, as use gave us all allergies. While some staff (notably the doormen and breakfast restaurant staff) were very friendly (especially to our young daughter), the concierge was borderline inept and several of the staff were indifferent at best and rude at worst. I appreciate that these are all first world problems in the greater scheme of things, but when you are paying 5 star prices, a 5 star experience should be received.

Pros: A beautiful hotel in full view of the walls of the old city of Jerusalem, and with a magnificient garden, pool and terrace. We had a room with a view of the garden and a terrace, it was fantastic; the terrace was huge. Looking at the sunset on Jerusalem, from our terrace, overlooking the gardens, was just superb.

Cons: Staff was nice but some surprising (repeated) mistakes. - We ordered a drink in the room, the person on the phone wasn't understanding english too well, and the staff had to come 3 times before we got the right drink. - We asked for a room with twin beds, confirmed it at check in, and when we got in the room, we had king beds. - The person who brought us to our room told us he would fix it immediately; 2 hours later, we had to call to get it fixed. - Etc. Nothing serious, staff was very nice, but the repeated nature of the mistakes suggests some organizational issues.

Pros: Great location, great view from the sundeck and restaurant. Free entry to Israel Museum. Concierge is helpful.

Cons: Staff is trained but except for reception most employees, you can feel that they don't care and don't want to be here. There are supervisers, hosts, managers, but too few waiters. Also a waiter should be assigned to the specific table, not that every time guest is being asked if they ordered something. Food is decent, but not a 5 star hotel standard. Do not cook european dishes if you do not know how. I can give you free lessons how to cook sauce for pasta or take it out of the menu. That goes to both restaurants. I was expecting more local/cozy design. You are trying to be too modern and too western. Overpriced 4 star hotel. Oh and there is no wifi on sundeck and it doesn't look inviting..

Cons: Room is very small and uncomfortable. Bed uncomfortable. Bathroom so small it's complicated to put toiletries.

Pros: Location is excellent with shopping and restaurants nearby. It is an easy stroll to Jerusalem old Town. There is a panoramic view of the Old Town from the roof terrace.

Cons: The bathrooms are of a poor design and impractical. The room service prices and restaurant meal prices are astronomical and not justifiable.

Cons: The pool is indoors and closed at 7:00. Would have been nice after a long hot day of touring to be able to go into it a little later.

Pros: My wife was thrilled finding soap, shampoo etc from Bulgari in the bathroom. The hotel is very spacious. A nice touch is the glass wall dividing the bathroom from the room, which turns opaque with the touch of a button.

Cons: In the executive room I stayed in, I expected the minibar to be free accessible.

Cons: Not to the standards of Leading Hotel of the World Rooftoop privatized 2 nights in a row, no outside bar. Very noisy rooms ( rooms interconnection doors not to standart, room door ) , breakfast terrasse dirty, no proper shading, lots of staff but very few engaged toward customers

Pros: Location and staff are really good ! The Conciergerie is really helpful: we asked for a transportation from Eilat to their hotel and they reply immediately with a quotation and some alternative by bus. And it was really easy and much cheaper. So thanks to the staff !

Cons: The value for money is really bad when you stay in the hotel. It’s really noisy if you stay in a room with the Patio view : breakfast and dinner served in the terrace under your window ! And unfortunately the sound proof is really bad. We said it was our honeymoon and we wanted a quiet room but the man in reception didn’t evaluate the quietness the same way ! No misunderstanding: it’s a really nice hotel ! But a bit expensive if you want a 5 stars service !

Cons: The carpet in the room was dirty - full of hairs etc. We complained and someone came with a machine to clean. After this the carpet was still not clean. After we decided to have breakfast we found a great bureaucratic process to add this to our account. Some of the staff in the dining room were not welcoming.
