When we picked up the car the attendant was very short with us and we could hardly follow what she was saying. This was the first time me and my new wife have ever rented a car and when she asked for us to pay we just used a debit card. We were than charged and extra 28 or so dollars a day because we didn't use a credit card, which wasn't mentioned until after she charged the card, and we weren't fully aware of this beforehand. We than asked her if we could switch our payment method to a credit card, which we had with us, to avoid the extra fee. She quickly and rudely respond that she couldn't do that for us since she already ran our card. Like I mentioned this was the first time we have ever rented a car and will likely be the last time we rent with Hertz unless we can somehow get this sorted out.Reviewed 1 Nov 2021

Cons:I was never informed that the car couldn’t be taken to St John, where I was staying. That’s part of the Virgin Islands and a short ferry ride away. So I was denied rental upon arrival and then forced to find a very last minute rental from Another agency. Terrible service!Reviewed 27 Jan 2020

Pros:We prepaid for the car in St Thomas for a minivan that we were going to take to St John and have done this for years. The counter help said we couldn't take the car to St John and wouldn't offer us another car or refund our money. Had to go to Budget and get a 7 passenger vehicle at about $250 more.Cons:Hertz could have offered us a car, could have told us we can't take if off the island of St Thomas, or maybe offer to find a car from another company. Hertz also said since we made the reservation through Kayak it is not their problem. Any help Kayak?Reviewed 5 Mar 2019

Cons:I paid for a Jeep months before this trip and when we arrived they didn’t have any Jeeps at all. They said it’s either a Huyandi Sonata or nothing. They didn’t even offer to make up the price difference.Reviewed 14 Feb 2019

Pros:The staff at pick up was super slow, almost rude. and of course extra charges. Always extra charges! Super annoying. I'm sure everyone has a bad day but after 13 hr flight I don't really want to be first in line and still take over an hour to pick up the dang car.Cons:It ended up costing me more then I thought I was paying. And it should be told when signing up that a second driver is way more money. I reserved it as it was a gift but then had to pay more for my husband to drive. Service was good.Pros:The car was well maintained.Cons:They need to post a sign where the Hertz drop off area. I went to the airport and went to check out. I was directed to exit the airport and followed directions. A clearly marked sign would have saved me time and energy.Reviewed 11 Dec 2017

Need my money returnedCons:Plane arrived at 5:00 p.m. We arrived at Hertz desk at 5:15. The girl behind the desk would not rent the car to us because she said they closed at 5:00 p.m. "Come back tomorrow." Luckily Avis had one car available for us to rent or we would have had to spend the night in the airport. We never got to rent the Hertz vehicle. I'll be expecting my money back. The girl behind the Hertz desk should be fired!!!Reviewed 10 Dec 2017
