There were 2 people waiting to rent cars when I got there. It took a very long time. Only one employee was out front. He was working hard but had to keep going outside trying to arrange vehicles. Finally, he got a little help from another employee. At one point a guy came in to return his car and said even though he had a car reserved, it took him 2 days to actually get a car. No employees was available when I called for two days. Never returned voicemail. Car description was incorrect in multiple ways making it difficult to find the car. No employee onsite in garage to assist. Car was thick with cigarette smoke and could not be driven for 2/3 of the rental time because it needed to air out. The weather was 30 degrees so driving with windows all down was not an option. I would appreciate a refund and if possible a future credit to have a different experience with Hertz as I could never say anything good about them or this entire experience.Reviewed 12 Feb 2025

The system allowed a booking for a pickup after-hours. In the 21st century with all the hi-tech?! It was a mess to cancel, had to call multiple times! Had to rebook last minute at premium rate! Will never again book thru Expedia / Kayak!Reviewed 22 Oct 2024

They hide the fine print when you select the manger special deal and then try to give you an electric car I didn’t reserve a car days in advance for them to tell me all they had was electric vehicles for that reservation and I had to upgrade to get a gas car which I was charged and upgrade fee just found it ridiculous that I made a reservation and was pawned off with this electric car forcing me to upgrade as my trip was not drivable with a electric car.Reviewed 24 Sept 2024

The care was banged up with dents and damage on all sides. The tire pressure warning was persistent no matter how much air I put in.. only to the recommended PSI. The car smelled like cigarettes and had burn holes in the driver seat. The rims were scrapped up very badly as well and tires had big chunks of rubber missing and or flapping around. We had a reservation for a company car which showed a price under $250. Once we arrived, Hertz attempted to raise the price of that rental to 600+. In addition, the companies choice was only an electric vehicle (which is cool but that should be made known). After going back and forth, and disputing a in city fee which was just an. upcharge we were able to get the rental for around 350ish. After making the reservation I immediately realized the dates were wrong and that I did not specify returning the car to a different city. I took immediate action to try to modify the reservation. I found It was impossible to use kayak to modify the rental. So I’m dissatisfied with the basic service of Kayan. Next, I tried contacting Hertz directly, only to be told to use their web site over and over again. The web site was zero help, and getting a real live person to assist me was next to impossible. I decided to cancel the original booking and to try to make a new one with corrected dates and drop off point. Hertz then tripled the daily rental rate. So I went with directly booking with Avis and got a better rate, and upgrade than what Hertz was offering. Neither Kayak or Hertz have been helpful, or cost effective in this matter, and I will advise as many people as I can to not use either of your services. Since I attempted to modify my initial rental within one hour of making the reservation, but was driven to total frustration by the lack of customer service, I feel that I should not be charged for the rental cancellation. Pick up was a nightmare, got sent back and forth up and down to 2 different floors, eventually got sent to a pick up area and was told 'go to area 3'. We go and there's nobody there...we come back...'which car is ours'...and are told 'just take any car'. So we take a car that is the size we wanted, are told it's fine then as we leave the parking lot, a woman scans the car and tells us it's not driveable, so we have to go back in and find another car and rinse and repeat. It was a pretty poor experience, par for the course with hertz.Reviewed 21 Oct 2022
