I was able to finalize my rental quickly with the attendant and then went straight to the vehicle. The vehicle was great. The return process was simple and efficient.

It wasn't entirely Dollar's fault... our flight on Alaska was canceled and we came in the next day. The rebooking they offered was not satisfactory, so we ended up going with Thrifty. The personnel was also not very friendly ... the best rental we've had recently in Seattle was Fox.

Experience from check in to drop off at SEA-TAC Int’l went seamlessly. Was offered a vehicle upgrade at same rate which made the ride that much more comfortable. Will definitely look here first next time renting a vehicle

My flight was canceled by the airline just until 24hrs before the flight. I had to cancel and rebook many things because of it. Dollar/Kayak were the only part of that process that was straightforward and easy. Thank you! I have a long list now of travel service providers who were difficult and unhelpful. But you and Dollar are on the top of the awesome list. Because of how easy you made that process I will look forward to booking with you again for my next trip at the end of the month. Thank you!

I did not like anything, I did not get the car. They did not advise ahead of time that if I had a debit card and not a credit card, that they would take a $500 deposit. That tied up too much money on my card and ate into my hotel budget too much, so I found another company that would rent to me without a hitch. I will NEVER book a car through you or Dollar, EVER!

Arrived Seattle on a Saturday mid-morning and took shuttle to car rental. No one in line at Dollar, showed reservation and had keys in hand within 5 minutes. Requested a compact and was assigned a new Prius. Car was clean and everyone on the Dollar team very professional. Similar experience returning the car mid-afternoon on Monday - easy drop off and onto the shuttle to airport. Would rent from Dollar again! Dan

I rented this car over other companies because of the price I was given. Unfortunately the agent who helped me decided to sign me up for insurance through Fox without telling me even though I opted out when I made my reservation. This resulted in me being charged almost double what I originally was told I would be charged and also what the agent told me I would be charged. Unfortunately for me, I believed the agent and just signed without reading the agreement because she broke down the charges I was receiving, but instead of telling me I was paying for insurance, she told me I was paying a deposit that I would get back once the car was returned. Now, checking my bank statements, I realize that was not a deposit. I will never rent from Fox again.

I rented a specific SUV months in advance and when I get to the rental place they tell me that there was low availability. They upcharged me for an AWD (which I already opted to get).

Bait and switch. I reserved a standard SUV and was given a compact SUV. When I questioned the reservation I was given the option of paying $400 more for something else. We had 3 large suitcases plus carry on and backpack so I wasn't going to go tramping around looking for another rental at Christmas. We had to fold down the seats to barely fit our luggage. We were lucky it was just 2 of us.

Counter agent will try to add upgrades and gas tank charges without asking you if you want them. She just said "I'm going to add this" and went ahead and started doing it until I stopped her (at least 3 times on different things). Pay close attention and decline where needed. If you return it at all early, they'll add an "early return fee" (coded LOREC) that will increase your amount over what you were originally supposed to pay. I got back to the airport a few hours early to try and get on an earlier flight standby and they charged me 10% over what I was originally supposed to pay for returning it early. Had to dispute it with my card issuer.

Did not have the model that I reserved. Had no similar or better. Would not change pick-up to earlier time. Provided sub compact for short term (1 day of original 8 day) so we could get to our destination and "swap out" for our original model. Unable to find "reserved" size vehicle at final destination for original cost. Alamo "800" staff could not help. Not the start to our trip that we expected.

Rental location in Seattle was confusing to get to. Once we figure out where to go they almost gave us a car with expired tags. Check in process was very long. Second car they gave us was never inspected or walked through with us. The car play function with is what we needed would constantly go off and on (tried multiple phone cables, phone projection/Bluetooth separately with no success) which made it extremely difficult to use for our West Coast drive from Seattle to San Francisco.

Cons: I have forgotten my notebook in the rental car. Within1 hour of return I went back to rental location and car was rented back. The lady at the counter noted down car, descritipn and my phone number. It has been more than 10 days no one called back. I tried to call back but no response. There is no lost/found mechanism. Even though there is no monetary value to anyone of my notebook; it was important to me. Rental car company needs to have better mechanism

Pros: Staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful.
Cons: After we got on the road I realized that the tires were extremely worn. We were hydroplaning on the rainy freeway and it was quite scary. The car smelled like cigarettes and there was trash from the previous user in the center console.

Kayak sent us to the wrong location for easy rental pickup and drop-off. Kayak has terrible algorithms for their system....Enterprise was fantastic and reasonably priced, but they said Kayak messes this up frequently.

The full price was NOT clear. I did upgrade the car, but it was the fees not the charge per day which almost doubled my total charges. Even if I had stayed with the original car the price would not have been what I expected. Shame on all of you!! Figure out a way to be more transparent

I was given a vehicle with a short-range spare tire on the front. This was a front wheel drive vehicle that I had to drive 120 miles in. This tire isn’t supposed to do over 50mph and it isn’t supposed to be used for more than 30 miles. This was extremely negligent and I will be filing a formal complaint.

The budget location was closed when we arrived, even though we were on time for our pickup. When I called budget to try and get a car at another location, they said they were completely booked out. I had to scramble to get a new rental from another company. Won’t be going back to Budget.

The tyres on our Mustang were so worn as to be unsafe. We discovered this when we had a puncture. We replaced all 4 tyres and Budget reimbursed us. But the car should never have been rented out with such tyres.

My only annoyance was a "change oil required" message on the dashboard. As it turned out the car had been recently serviced but the computer not reset. Unfortunately, we couldn't find this out over the phone so had to waste half a day of our holiday going to the nearest Budget location. Otherwise, we were very happy with the car. Message to Budget: make sure the car's computer is reset after servicing!

The best part of my car rental experience was dropping off the dirty vehicle budget gave me. The worst part of my experience.... 1. The budget counter had 5 associates working, and I still had to wait over 15 minutes in line. When I rent from Enterprise, I wait less than a minute and I'm out on the road. 2. The sales rep helping me with my rental was trying to upsell me every optional package. I politely told him I'm in a rush as my wife had an appointment, and I need to get going asap. And yet, he INSISTED on explaining to me every optional package after I told him I'm in a time crunch. Awful customer service. 3. The car was DIRTY. There was dirt on the dashboard, nothing was vacuumed. There was trash in the seat pockets behind driver and passenger seats that was left over from previous customers. Budget should be ashamed of themselves for allowing dirty vehicles to get rented. 4. I should have received a discount on my rental given how dirty the inside of the car was. Just awful.

Made a reservation with a great price via Kayak for Thrifty. Then set up loyalty account so I could use dash-and-go car pickup. Had to contact Thrifty via FB messenger. After 3 hours they told me in chat that the only way they could add the loyalty number was to cancel and rebook. Doubt I could get the great price again! Another 2 hours and chat checked in to see if I needed any add'l help. No confidence with a car company that cannot manage data input better than this, no confidence my car would be adequate and/or my paperwork simple.

Car I was given was overdue for a service and having an oil light warning on for the full 2 weeks of the hire was stressful. I rang Thrifty about this issue but they said they couldn’t help me until we broke down. How ridiculous☹️

This is a terrible experience. Upon arrival to the rental station the employee found our booking started typing and presented us with multiple insurance options, which we all declined, since we use our Amex for car rentals that has a nice insurance and travel package with it. After declining every extra cost, he presented us with the rental agreement that was 160 dollars more than the quote we signed up and booked via kayak. We asked him why there is a discrepancy and showed him our original booking and rate. He looked at it and told us that he doesn't know and he doesn't care, since this is the rate that he can offer us and all these online sites are always lying about prices and offers !!!!! I told him that I have rented through other online sites multiple times and never had a discrepancy, which is when he told me that this is the best offer he has and we should either take it or go somewhere else. At this point we had no choice but to rent a car that kept going up and up upon adding a second river. From the original quote of 680 bucks we ended up having to sign a contract for 995 dollars. Horrible experience. never again/

Made a reservation for a SUV and called to confirm there would be one available. Upon arriving at the check in counter at the time of our reservation, we were told that it would be a 2-3 hour wait for a car even with a reservation. Kayak showed a list of available cars for the night and Thrifty was confirming that availability - so this was incredibly misleading and a total waste of our time

We arrived to pick up our vehicle ti find thrifty closed! We were stuck outside in a 30 degree parking garage with our children and suitcases with no car or any help to rectify the situation. We had to find another dealer to rent from and still have not received our refund. We will never rent from Thrufty again

Rates were too high for a one day rental- the return was a pain and the Avis app did not help. I had to call and basically had to figure out on my own where the return location was located. Then was asked- did you take a picture of mileage and fuel tank level.

I wait 30 minutes in line to get to the Avis counter to pick up my rental; that I had booked online and performed my pre-pickup registration to allegedly make the process easier. Then it is 10 minutes at the counter. My card is in the machine and the worker is down the way calling the garage for my car. Then she returns (after another 5 minutes) with the manager to tell me there are no cars for my destsination, and that allegedly, there haven't been any for 24 hours. And that the online system should not have allowed me to make a reservation. Maybe true, maybe not. Because while I was waiting on the salesperson to call the garage the salesperson to my left is selling a rental (one-way to the same location that I'm headed) but at 1.5x the price that I booked online. So, you tell me. I don't know if they guys next to me got a car or not because I was rushing to the next car rental locations but since it was 1 AM, they were all shutdown. Avis wasted my time, screwed up my plans, and made it almost impossible to find an alternate plan, resulting in me having to get a hotel room.

I had to get a rental car at last minute after my flight was canceled. I tried rental car counters at random trying to find a decent deal. Avis was by far the best! And their staff was super friendly and helpful!

Reservation was for a convertible (a special occasion splurge for us). None was available on arrival. Despite our reservation even having a picture of a convertible, they tried to charge us the same rate for a non convertible saying it was a similar car. Lynn at the counter did not even try to be helpful about the situation; simply talked over me repeatedly insisting they were providing the car we reserved.

Pros: Staff was nice.
Cons: The cars weren’t spotless, but that wasn’t a problem for me. We did get have to exchange cars due to a tire issue. We called ahead and discussed it with E-Z Rent-a-Car. They said they made a note on our profile and there would be no problem coming back and exchanging the car. When we got there, they didn’t seem to know what we were talking about and we spend a little longer than necessary due to some confusion about the exchange. Worked out in the end.

Cons: Car smelled terribly of smoke, super long wait at pickup while the only staff st the desk was chatting with the only customer in front of me, stating “I’m taking my time to see if a car comes in for you”. I had already reserved and paid online, to “save time” the website said.

Cons: I chose EZ particularly because they showed and offered a Toyota RAV4 which is the car i use at home and it accommodates my injured hip and knee. Instead, i was given a Subaru something which is a brand well suited to littler people but which will not let get the seat back far enough to drive safely

The staff in Seattle (pick up location) didn’t honor the reservation. We book a bmw suv, but he was going to give me a 4 doors sedan, a much smaller car. His excuse was that they didn’t have the suv I booked. He said I either get a smaller car or he would cancel my reservation. I asked him if I could talk to his manager but he was rude and waked away. He walked back 5 minutes later and said he checked but there was still no suv. He sternly said if I didn’t like the smaller car, he would cancel my reservation and stated I had no other options. I once again said if he didn’t give me the suv I booked I would report him to kayak since he wouldn’t let me talk to his manager. He then realized I wouldn’t give in so he finally gave me the suv I booked. His excuse was that the car wasn’t available earlier. However, he also gave me the option earlier if I wanted the suv, I would have to pay more. The car was obviously there the entire time but he didn’t want to honor my reservation. It was the worse experience I ever had with a rental car company. I couldn’t pick up the car until 45 minutes later than my reservation

My pick up was made for Sea Tac but when I got there with 2 children and 6 bags, I was told that my reservation was for downtown Seattle, and I would have to take the train, that was not an option, the young lady at the counter took her time to help me and got the reservation transferred to sea tac, was so very grateful. I will never go through Kyack again. During the process of my reservation the location of the rental was changed by the system. When I called Kayak k to get this resolved, I was told to contact Sixt. Sixt told me there was nothing I could do and to contact Kayak.

Car had over 55k miles, dented all over, smelled like cigarette smoke with burn marks in the rear seats. The car had no device connectivity for navigation which was frustrating and at times dangerous. The car did not support USB C so I had to purchase an additional cable just for basic audio connection and charging. Terrible experience overall and will not use this provider again.

I live in the Seattle WA where I rented the car. Even though the staff at the local rental office were helpful overall the experience was a nightmare. The pickup location is listed as a street address but it is actually embedded in a multi level parking garage near the airport. It took about 20 minutes for a friend to drive me from my home to the pickup location and about another 30 minutes plus to try to determine where to pickup the car as I was extremely lost inside the parking garage. That being said both myself and my friend were beyond frustrated. I actually called the phone number on the rental confirmation telling them that I was hopelessly lost and disoriented in their parking garage asking for assistance and directions where to pickup the car. It was only at this time when the rental agent had asked me what city I was calling from that I quickly realized that I was speaking to someone somewhere else in the country and not to someone at the local rental office. That apparently did not happen as I was apparently transfer to someone in Oklahoma. After speaking with two different attendants,in the garage I finally located the rental office which was located on the top floor ( 5th floor ) of the garage which only seems to be accessible by a driveway ramp from the airport and accessible to airport shuttle buses only. UNFORTUNATELY THIS LOCATION SEEMS NOT TO BE ACCESSIBLE TO SOMEONE JUST WALKING OFF THE STREET TO RENT A CAR. Due to this seemingly inaccessibility I now am even confused how to return the vehicle whIch had cost me an additional 2 days of car rental, Saturday and Sunday ( which I did not use the car at all because I only needed the car to get to work Monday thru Friday) I initially rented the car for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday but extended the rental through the following Tuesday as my own personal car is being repaired and not available till then. Even though I did not need or use the car over the Saturday and Sunday I just extended the rental because it was much more less traumatic to do so rather than return the car as,originally intended and then come back the following Monday and rent another car for Monday and Tuesday exposing myself and my friend to this hellish experience all over again. In addition after I had picked up the rental car my friend who was driving his personal car ( 1 years old ) out of the garage was asked for the car rental agreement and when he told the attendant that it was his own personal car he was yelled at by the attendent why he had driven his personal car into the garage . This was all over the confusion how to access the rental location and the fact that at the entrance of the garage it is not posted," RENTAL CARS ONLY" IF KAYAK VALUES THERE RELATIONSHIP WITH PAYLESS CAR RENTAL I STRONGLY REQUEST THAT KAYAK REQUST PAYLESS CAR RENTAL TO CONTACT ME AND THAT KAYAK FOLLOW UP THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. I AM ALSO REQUESTING THAT PAYLESS CAR RENTAL STRONGLY CONSIDER REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE 2 ADDITIONAL DAYS INCURRED [ SATURDAY AND SUNDAY ] THAT I HAD THE CAR BUT DID NOT NEED OR USE DUE TO THE HELLISH EXPERIENCE OF PICKING UP AND DROPPING OFF THE CAR. Don’t ever rent from Payless. I pre paid and there was no one there when I arrived at 7:30 at night. They had to call the guy in. It took an hour for him to get there. After 30 min standing at the counter he admitted he did not know how to complete my reservation and get me keys. They were literally physically and technically unable to fulfill our contract even once an employee showed up. Davis wasted a lot of my time and I never got the car. Went next door and had a car in 5 min. They said they get a lot of angry customers from Payless since they are next door to them.

A tad difficult finding the Hertz location inside the parking structure in downtown Seattle. Pick-up once getting to the window was a breeze. Drop off proved to be difficult as this same parking structure suddenly had issues with the gates and wouldn’t let me drop off the car. I called hertz to confirm I could drop it off at an alternate location. I was told I’d have to speak to the manager at the drop off location to determine - ultimately turned out ok but a bit of a hassle.

Good: When our flight time was moved up unexpectedly, National was flexible in allowing us to return the car at another location. We appreciated this so much! Bad: Pick up was tedious as the location we originally rented from was small and seemingly understaffed. One guy had to take care of everyone in line - it took well over an hour.
