Pros: It took less than 10 minutes to pick up the car, and drop off was really simple and quick, as well. The agent was friendly and helpful. The car was clean and as described.

Pros: Good quality car.
Cons: Won't book with Avis again as their excess of 11,000 euro is criminal and pushes you into a corner forcing you to sign up to their insurance while our travel insurance should have covered it all the other car companies have a excess of about 2,000 euros smells a bit like a scam on Avis part to me.

Cons: Agent said she would set GPS for our first destination, but it did not work. Got totally lost. So late for first appt that it was cancelled

Very helpful Staff in both Bordeaux and Barcelona
Pros: I made a mistake in the date of pick up and had to rent for one day prior to my official pick up time and the staff did everything possible to help make the impact of that as minimal as possible and retain the integretily of my American reservation rate saving me what could have been a thousand dollars in added costs.

Pros: In Bordeaux the 1st Lady with whom we discussed the deal seemed to be tricky and manipulative but the 2nd one who gave us the key and guided through a concrete car leease related details was excellent and very very helpful.
In Bordeaux we received amazing service: quick, efficient and very courtous.
Cons: When taking the car in Barcelona and discussing what is available things were not very clear in the beginning and seemed to be a bit tricky and overwhelming.

Cons: We were threatened with a 1,000 Euro fee for returning the car two hours late. Each representative we spoke with gave a different story. Then no such fee was charged, again without explanation. Never again!
Cons: When we arrived, the car was not ready, so the person attending had to clean it up and prepare it.
The worst part however was the return. The same guy was on the phone when I arrived and completely ignored me and another person for 10 minutes. When I gestured if it easy Ok to leave the keys, he pretty much insulted me. I travel around the world every month and always rent from different companies, but my last three Hertz experiences this year have been utter nonsense. I won't be renting from Hertz ever again.

Did exactly what was needed
Pros: Liked the car, no issues, efficient drop off.
Cons: Pick up could have had less queue if they had more staff.

Cons: Car not clean outside ...and goof be better inside
The queue at the desk very long. Not very friendly when receiving the car at the parking.
Very nice at the dropoff.

Hertz Bordeaux airport
Pros: Courteous employees at the desk and in the l to (they missed damage on the vehicle and corrected that and apologized)
Cons: Kayak stated $15/day for GPS, but Hertz charged Euro 30 (= $36); never received a receipt from Hertz
Pros: Long queue at Bordeaux airport with a time consuming check in process. Even then the car was not available despite reserved time so had to wait. However they did finally give another car which was a grade up.

Good carvhire experience
Pros: New Renault Captur. Good price. Car checked with me present when i was returnong it. Charming salesmam in airport persuaded me to upgrade! But only a few extra euros
Pros: We made a last minute reservation for an automatic transmission car and they were great, specifically Aurielle who helped us was amazing. Despite not reserving it as such, we were able to pickup the car in the city and drop off at the airport for no additional fee, and got to add a GPS (which was a lifesaver). It made our last day a great one!
