The restraint is fantastic. Don't go to it if you want new fusion type food. The menu is very traditional. Each meal was prepared as if your Gran muter was in the kitchen herself. ( I don't know the German word for grand mother, I'm just guessing.)

Pros: We were enthusiastically greeted when we arrived. Two of our three rooms were ready for early check-in as we had requested. As soon as we mentioned our names the staff immediately knew the details our our reservations and that we had three rooms booked - it's like they were ready and waiting to greet us like returning family (even though it was our first stay). Everything about this hotel was first class! We've stayed at some beautiful resorts and hotels in the past, but this was our favorite! Aside from being a fabulous facility, the locations was perfect! Right in the middle of all the restaurants, shops and sightseeing!

Cons: Parking was not convenient by the hotel, but the hotel took care of it all with free valet parking, so this was not a major issue.

Cons: The hotel is located on commercial street of the city, an area with restricted car access. Consequently, I lost at least 30 minutes trying to identify the address where I could not reach by car. Finally I called the hotel and they indicate me a different address for car navigation and so I got behind the hotel. Then I realized that the hotel has no parking and I was sent to a public parking (relatively close to ~ 200 meters). A very unpleasant experience, amplified by the fact that rain in that day and walk with luggage from the public parking to the hotel it was not the favorite part of a holliday day.

The room was spacious and clean and incredibly reasonable for how great it was. The staff was super friendly and willing to help with any questions we had. The sky bar was a perfect place to retreat for a drink or 2 to recharge before going back out in to the city. Would absolutely stay here again when visiting Salzburg!

Cons: Underground parking is approx. 200 meters from the hotel and there is no place to stop the car in front of the hotel so you have to go with all the suitcases from the hotel to the garage. No help or assistance with the parking or the luggage is provided or offered. The hotel is quite big and rather impersonal.

Cons: At the end of a long day, the hotel was further than my liking from the Alstadt, but that was because we were walking close to 10 miles a day and eating a full Austrian meal for dinner. An easy and cheap cab ride easily nullified my issue.

Pros: We were delighted with the loft space (despite the lack of lift!). It was clean and very bright with lots of facilities including fridge and dishwasher. The space was well laid out and we loved the beds which were incredibly comfortable - we slept very well. Having access to the downstairs lounge area with the provision of proper coffee and breakfast supplies was a really nice touch and much appreciated. Staff were incredibly helpful and even when there was a problem it was swiftly and helpfully resolved. Location was excellent.

Cons: The bathroom for our apartment was meant to be an external private bathroom but had been used when we arrived and was used by others during our stay. The upstairs room was not particularly clean but I suspect this is due to the set up of the loft bedroom, making it more difficult to clean.

Cons: Of the 7 accommodations that we stayed in during our holiday this one was the highest rated, but also definitely the worst - so there seems to be something wrong here. Our room was noisy and uncomfortable. In my opinion the place needed to be remodeled for use as a hotel, instead of rather amateurishly adapted. Our main gripes were: - Noise: the floor is creaking and the walls are thin. You can hear people walking and talking in other rooms, till they finally go to sleep. - Room is not well appointed and uncomfortable: the bed is slightly smaller than normal Queen Size and placed in the corner - so from one side one has to climb out of bed, and there is no or bedside table or night light. Also there is no proper closet, just an improvised 'open closet' - The 'bathroom': in our room this was in fact just a toilet with a shower head and a foldable shower screen added to it. After setting up the shower screen there is a space of about 50x50 cm for showering. And when you've taken a shower, the toilet floor will be wet for a few hours. To make it even worse, the shower head is attached too close to the wall (see photo), so that it can hardly be turned or adjusted. And I almost forgot, one thing even makes it worse: the shower is time based. When you open the tap, you get 2 minutes of hot water. If you have not finished, you can get an extra 2 minutes (as often as you want), but you CANNOT CLOSE the tap. So if you just needed 15 seconds extra, you have to wait in the confined space for almost 2 more minutes (getting out with the tap running would cause the toilet area and part of the room to get really wet).

Cons: They claim to be a 4 star hotel, but don't actually meet the standards of a 3 star one. Having said that, what follows is completely independent. The concierge. He said he was the hotel manager; yet, he had the worst possible attitude. He wanted to charge me 16 Euro for losing a parking ticket he gave me. They use a third party owned parking space. He gave me a ticket (the usual ticket you get when you check in and out, and use for paying). On my way to the parking I lost that ticket so I requested a new one at the parking itself. When I came to the hotel and informed I had lost the one he gave me, he said he would charge me 16 Euros for it. However, the ticket did not state that it had any value and that it would be charged in case of loss. All this brought me to an unnecessary and unpleasant argument with this person. End of the story. I clearly stated I would not pay those 16 Euros; the following day he acted as if nothing had happened and did not apologise. It is fair to say that he then gave me a ticket with which I got 10% discount on the parking price, but the damage had been done.

Cons: We were given a twin room rather than a double, we didn't receive any information on airport transfers although I asked for it. At booking I asked if they could do anything special for my partner's birthday and I received an email to say they had "accepted" my request, but nothing happened. I wasn't expecting anything big - just a "happy birthday" or a free drink for my partner would be been nice, but it was disappointing that they didn't do anything after saying they would. Overall it was a lot of money to spend for the hotel.

Pros: Beautiful interior of the hotel with great friendly staff. Was upgraded to a lovely big room at no extra cost overlooking the Mirabel Gardens even though our view was blocked by huge trees. The food was amazing especially their Friday night meal which you have to experience. Our cases were stored on the last day as we had a few hours to kill after checkout.
Cons: No tea/ coffee making facilities in the room and to order this was very expensive. The towels were too small. Building work going on everywhere which ruins the ambiance of where you are. The breakfast although amazing was very expensive. We ate out whenever we could but watch out for Sundays as a lot of eateries and shops close. The Italian restaurant was closed on the days we visited which his linked to the hotel which was disappointing. We had to pay for water in our room.

Cons: Rooms were old, not really what you would expect for paying 300 euros per night. One just cannot ride with the name, you have to deliver something for that money. Breakfast: could have served vegan options in the warm dish section, like tofu, vegan sausages etc, now heavily meat based. Also vegan yogurts etc...choices of milks without specifically asking. Being a five star hotel, I would have expected the hotel and the breakfast to be better and plant based options to be a standard. Wasn't left hungry though.

Pros: High quality but pricey hotel, excellent service and breakfast, great location, onsite parking, short walk to Mirabell gardens. Some building work on the street outside our room but as we were up before it started it was no problem, though it disturbed other guests. Not the hotel's fault of course, and the soundproofing was good. Finally a hotel in Europe where the air-conditioning worked!!!

Cons: The room was dark and dingy on the basement floor. My room was off a dark hall that had a door that opened directly to the street and was insecure. The hall was very noisy with the sounds from the street. The room had a overwhelming musty smell. The staff was not helpful with my concerns about the room stating that there was nothing they could do because they were full.

Standout staff member in Liliana in Reception, who went out of her way for everyone with tourist information, public transport details, maps, help with booking restaurants, excellent recommendations. This hotel was very clean, offered a guest amenity area for coffee, gathering and a good coffee machine complimentary. The included self serve breakfast was ample in the large dining area leading onto a bright courtyard with tables. Staff were very good at replenishing all the choices for all the different tastes. Being able to open the window in our room was good and the view and quiet courtyard we looked onto was a bonus for sleep quality. We enjoyed 6 great nights. Thank you Hotel Hofwirt for a good stay at a good rate.

Cons: Perhaps the lighting on the desk area could have been improved. In fact I don't think there was any lighting over that long bench which made it a dark spot for checking maps and tourist information.

Cons: This hotel is SO NOISY. The street outside turned into party central early evening and raged until morning. That’s one thing when you can keep your Windows shut but when it’s 30+ C, you can’t lead you suffocate. This hotels solution to cooling the room in sweltering heat was a tiny desk fan (10cm, seriously). Too hot and too noisy to sleep. Never again and I honestly think they owe us some credit back for the misery and lack of notice on the situation.

That could of course be due to the fact that English is not too familiar language to them, which explains the coldness, and uneasiness in communication, but since I am comparing this hotel to others this is to be mentioned.

The hotel is a short walk from many places to eat and all the Salzburg highlights Seriously, you can't go wrong staying at this hotel. The breakfast was very good, eggs, bacon, sausage, cheeses, breads etc. I'm dairy free, and they had oat milk one morning, so I was very pleased. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant and the rooms are roomy and beautifully furnished. I highly recommend.

The other minor problem is for a King bed we were given only 2 pillows, one of which looked like a truck ran over it. When we requested another pillow we were told we were too late as there were no extra pillows available and we had to call again our second day to get an extra pillow. Other than those, it was an excellent experience at a unique hotel!

The only parking is 100m away from the hotel (so hassles with luggage) and need to pay extra on top of the expensive hotel. Then to hear that breakfast is not included and that we again have to pay extra. We ordered the room with park view, but we only saw the windows of another building

Cons: The hotel was a little bit outside the main city centre because of which it was very reasonable and away from all noise. All the attractions, railway station, super mart were just within walkable distance making this place a great place to stay !!
