We had until 1 am to pick up our car and we were infront of the car office at 12:30 am and they were closed,my wife and I had to take a cab and rent a hotel, come back the next day in a cab and pick up the car, I want to know who is going to credit us for the screw-up?

Alamo could start by telling customers up front that they charge a $300 deposit on top of what they charge for the rental. They could also actually cancel the reservation when requested instead of saying “It will cancel itself.” I paid up front for extra insurance that they also did not bother to address refunding.

At vehicle drop off, the staff was very helpful and friendly. They were able to fix our credit card issue and get it back in my name and charge my card.Arriving at the Richmond Alamo, I was told my credit card could not be read by the machine, it did not take chip read and supposedly my card strip wasn't working correctly. She attempted a few times then I was told she was not able to manually input my number. I was told to provide another card. I presented my debit card which I was told she could not use that as a form of payment. So now being very worries I am in Richmond with no rental car, my gf used her card to hold the car during the trip and upon returning to Nashville, the gentleman was able to slide and read my card and make it work just fine. My gripe is had it not been for my gf being there with a credit card I would have flown 3000 miles to not have a car. I had two forms of payment on me including several forms of ID and military ID, and I also used my credit card online to hold the car. So why I needed to rescan my card at Alamo to get my car in the first place is odd but then to have my card in person, with ID and still be denied really frustrated me. Was not satisfied with that experience at all. Noone wants to feel like they may not have a rental car being on the complete other end of the country.

Nothing, we got in at midnight and just wanted to go to our hotel but all the staff at the airport had already left and locked us in the parking garage. We were left stranded in a town we didn't know well and had to scramble for a late-night uber (of which there were almost none).Someone could've been there to let us out so we could go safely to our hotel

Nothing.Alamo cancelled my reservation. I received a voice message on my phone when I was making my connection at O'Hare. When I arrived at Richmond they did nothing to help. I called the Alamo Customer Service number - would be on hold waiting for over 20 minutes each time I called. The only way you could get someone to answer a call was to choose the "Make a Reservation" option. Appears like the only time they would answer the phone is when they think they were going to get money. I had 4 different times when someone said they would call me back with some information. No one ever called me back. The manager at the Richmond Alamo counter provided me with no options. I had to press them to get information about being compensated for my Uber charges. I tried to get a car the next day and they still didn't have any available. With today's technology there is no excuses on why they could not have contingency plans in place to ensure they have enough cars based on the number of reservations they have booked. I will never rent another car from Alamo or Enterprise again. In Richmond they had 15 to 20 SUV's in the garage, when I asked about them then said that they were reserved. If my reservations got cancelled because I booked through Kayak and had a lower rate I will need to rethink about using Kayak. Having no car for the 3 days made it very difficult doing business and also on my client you had to chauffer me around the entire time. Alamo definitely demonstrated to me that they don't care about my business.

I arrived from my flight at midnight with tired children while waiting out in the cold, first telling me they didn’t have my vehicle, then finally something came up which wasn’t the vehicle class i had picked and to top it off gave it to me with a huge mess and had to wait 30 minutes for them to bring it. Horrible experience. Don’t get how they allow you to make a reservation then not have it when you arrive to another state on vacation

When I picked up car at airport they simplified my checkin, and made the changes I was unable to make online or on the phone (couldn’t find a support contact person). Friendly, efficient, helpful. Great mileage on a Prius!

I waited in line for pick up only to be told to go back to the terminal check in. At the terminal check in the guy was not clear and if I hadn’t rented a car before I would have thought I had to say yes to everything he was trying to sell. When I returned, a day early, I was told just to leave the keys in the car after standing in line again for 15 mins. I was still charged for the full time I rented even though I returned the car a day early. I reached out and still no one has contacted me. Won’t use budget again.

The car seen dirty and there was broken pieces inside. No employee came to inspect and document the damages on the car before renting it to me. I had to take pictures of the damages just in case. Other than that my reservation was available and on time. Drop off was easy

They gave me a car that had broken down the day before, without properly fixing it. So I experienced transmission problems while on a bridge with no where to pull over, which put us in danger. The only reason I know that the car had previous transmission problems because we somehow got assigned the same tow truck driver who recognized the vehicle from the day before. Dollar was seriously negligent. I will never be renting from Dollar or their parent company Hertz ever again because I cannot support a company who willfully puts their customers in danger.

I had family Covid and tried to rebook for May. Nonfundable. Not reschedule-able. Won’t be back. I am trying to reschedule for May but that was not an option. I tried to cancel to give you a head’s up and the lady said it will just show us as a no show. What kind of business is that?

Got in to Richmond about 9:00 pm. Dollar was closed, went to Hertz affiliate. Three ahead of us, one guy working. Took 20 minutes to get the LAST car they had. Car was OK but no one told us it had an EX Pass transponder for the toll roads. We had no change , blew through a toll gate. Dtilll waiting for the bill.

Three rental agencies jammed into one small booth in the parking garage with a grumpy mumbling agent and long lines. Somehow ended up with a downgraded car at an increased price. Hertz/Dollar, never again. I’ll Uber everywhere first.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The gentleman helped me with my phone getting linked to the car. I had a bad experience with a local Enterprise rental at home...the manager had given me an e-mail that on my next rental I could have a discount or upgrade. On this trip, the manager graciously gave me a nice upgrade for free. GREAT SERVICE!!!

Staff not unfriendly, but not friendly either.Seems like I ALWAYS have to wait to pick up my rental - an opportunity for improvement. Another suggestion is for staff to go over basic functions of the vehicle before turning it over to driver (e.g., all audio functions, locations of 12V/USB/Bluetooth ports, gear shift function, adjustment for lights, wipers, mirrors, sun roof/shade, etc . New vehicles have so many new features and moved/redesigned standard features that it is overwhelming for a lot of older drivers.

NothingI wasn't even able to get a rental from enterprise because they told me last minute that they needed a credit card instead of a debit card even if it could be run as a credit card which left me carless. I wish they would have told me that from the beginning. I will never book with them again. It is unreasonable especially since they are more likely to get their money through a debit card. They weren't even willing to work with me at all and told me to go somewhere else so I got additional insurance coverage for no reason.

All went well -- pickup / drop-off were painless, car ran very well mechanically (tires were way over-pressured), and was an excellent value for the money.Only minor complaints: on cleanliness (some stains on the rear seat and on the rear window deck that looked like toothpaste), and had to go back to get a prior damage descriptide sheet to document same and other previous small cosmetic damages.

Car was not rentableI like that I safely made it to my destination.Half way thru my drive I heard a noise drivers side front. When I arrived i noticed that there was broken plastic pieces behind the tire. The rental tech said that the previous renter must have popped a tire and hastily put on a new one. He then said my car was un-rentable. I am Not happy about this.

The staff was extremely professional while we were checking in. He made sure we knew where our car was, and even helped with directions to our destination that night. I would definitely go back!He could have asked the person that had checked in before us to wait until we were finished to have his questions answered.

The experience was the worst I've ever had. There was no attendant at the Thrifty counter. There was a sign that said go to the Thrifty attendant in the parking garage. There was no attendant there, either, and a sign that said go to the Hertz counter. There were 10 people in front of me in line and I waited 45 minutes in line, making me late for my appointment. The attendant didn't have any envelopes for my sales contract and because he talked to a person in front of me about video games for several minutes caused the wait to be linger than it should have. When I returned my car there were no attendants in the garage I had to drop off my key in the after hours box, and I still have not received an email receipt. The entire experience was a fail and in 25 years of renting vehicles this is the first time I've ever complained.

No one was at the kiosk for pickup. The sign inside the airport said go to the garage. We get to the garage and there’s another sign that said to go to the lower level but no one was downstairs. An agent from another rental service said go to Hertz, the parent company. Nobody was there. So we call a number and no one answered. Eventually, after 20 minutes someone shows up. However, my online reservation wasn’t in the system. They had my name but not my info or payment. We stood there for another 30 minutes. In the end, I had to complete paperwork by hand. It took about an hour to get a car. It was ridiculous.Now that we’re in the pandemic, have a better system for customer service. Other rental agencies had people working at their booths. Nobody was waiting for a car. If someone is going to be away from the rental desk, have a bell, phone number or something to alert an agent.

Drop off was easyThrifty service agent was unpleasant like she hated every minute of dealing with customers and I could have done without that. Was directed to another car rental place in the rental car area (I can't remember which kiosk, Avis maybe?) but then the envelope they used was Dollar, very confusing. No car was ready even though it didn't seem busy. We stood around for 30 minutes!!! Finally they brought us the car, which I found out was a 7 passenger SUV "recreational style" while I thought I had rented a full size SUV. I was told you can't rent a full size SUV on Thrifty.com. Such a bummer but we made due. There was melted candy below the window in the 3rd row seat on the left. Disgusting. How did they not see it? Never again with Thrifty!!

It was difficult to find in the airport, I was lied to about the deposit and given the run around when it was time for my refund. I wouldnt suggest going there and if you do make sure you have about $300 extra dollars more than the cost of your rental even though I was told it was $200 for the deposit. Good luck!

Really bad experience. The check in line at the Payless desk at Richmond Airport took close to 45 minutes as there was only one agent working most of the time despite having 20+ people on line. Once I finally got my car the interiors smelled of stale cigarette smoke and my car seat was still wet as it wasn't properly dried after the last cleaning. The agents working on the premise were extremely polite and friendly but they are under staffed and put in a very difficult situation. Senior management is setting them up for failure and it's not fair.

It was easy to pick the car up and the staff was very friendly. I wasn’t, however, crazy about the fact that they gave me a Prius (I wanted a compact not a hybrid). Drop off was a little tough to figure, I think you just need better signage. All in all, a pretty good experience.

the car was nice once we finally got to itit took us about an hour and 15 minutes to get into our car with a pre-existing reservation. the first desk lady put us on a "Waiting list". we then checked out with her only to get sent to another slow line for that desk person to give us a car. little communication or apologize for what was delaying us. all this and my price for the rental was super high. not happy at all

Car was very dirty when I picked it up. Had to pull into a gas station to clean the windows and mirrors. Then a few miles down the road the windshield wiper fluid light and buzzer came on every time I came to a stop. Had to buy a bottle of water at a grocery store to add to the reservoir to stop the buzzing. Very dissappointed with the car given the high rental price

Staff was great! I've rented cars in several locations recently and they were the best. Car was nice, but there was some stuff (hair clips, a lighter and a bottle of clear fluid) left in the car.The Easy Pass could have stuck to the windscreen better. It feel off while driving several times and left me feeling around for it because I needed it.

Car Not AvailableGot "upgraded" for freeI reserved a small car because I was going to drive 3 hours from Richmond, VA to Raleigh, NC. When I picked up the car all they had left was a Suburban. Not the end of the world, I can still drive the big truck, but made parking next to impossible, and cost me at least double to pay for the gas used on my 3 hour drive.

Staff was friendlyI ordered and paid for a full size car and received a compact car, staff insisted it was full size. a nissan kick is a compact car. pickup at the airport was a little confusing. When I went to return the car at 8:45 the office was closed and when i called the company number no one answered the phone. after 45 minutes someone finally showed up to take us to the airport to check the car in and give us a ride to the airport.

The staff was amazing! When we learned it was not at the airport we were concerned, however, we should not have been. A quick call (when we landed early) and moments later someone was there to pick us up. The driver was incredibly personable and professional. Arrived at the office and our car was "spiffed" up and ready to go. The staff could not have been better or more efficient. I would definitely use this service in Richmond again!We had an excellent experience. When we returned the car, someone drove us to the airport in the same car that was packed up. Super happy!

Will never use this company again. And the fact that you allow them to post on your site is reprehensible. I had nothing but issues to start with they moved during the night (their words) before I picked up and they had not left a forwarding address until I called. It appears they are at the airport but they are not which adds to issues. I blew a tire on the way to my destination and they were no help. I called the car manufacturer to get a tow and paid for the tire replacement myself. There is also large scratch on vehicle which I am sure will be an issue. I have already turned over to my insurance company to handle. Clearly something hit the car and caused tire to blow. ABSOLUTELY NO HELP WHATSOEVER. SHADY COMPANY. DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.NO SUPPORT. SOMETHING ISN'T RIGHT WITH THIS PLACE. NOT SURE WHAT IT IS BUT IT'S NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY OR TIME. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. NEVER AGAIN. CAR WAS ACTUALLY NICE AND NISSAN WAS WAY BIGGER HELP WITH TIRE ISSUE THAN ACTUAL RENTAL COMPANY. INEPT AT BEST.
