Top tips for hiring a car at Norfolk Airport

  • The Norfolk International Airport is to the northeast in a section of town near the outskirts of the city. It is not very accessible using public transit. If you need to get into town in a timely manner, consider renting a vehicle by booking through KAYAK. You will be a short drive from downtown Norfolk once you have your rental.
  • When thinking about a car rental at Norfolk International Airport, always plan ahead. Norfolk is on the water so summertime will be busier than other times of the year, making planning ahead all the more necessary when renting a car during that time of year. A Norfolk Airport car rental is convenient when you book ahead through KAYAK.
  • The city of Norfolk has a lot of lovely sites to see. There is no better way for a visitor to see them at their own pace than with your own rental car. Once you rent your car, check out nearby Norfolk Botanical Gardens if you have some free time. There are also numerous other things to do in Norfolk, including restaurants, shopping, golf, the zoo, and more. Renting a car at Norfolk International Airport opens up the whole city for you to explore.
  • A Norfolk Airport car rental offers many options to find the car you need. Summers are hot and rainy in Norfolk so think about the time of year before you rent that convertible. It doesn't get too cold but heated seats could be just the thing one needs after a swim. Consider all of the options you're looking for when renting and book through KAYAK so you can size up your options before committing.
  • Book your car hire at Norfolk Airport at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price

I was expecting a "Nissan Versa or similar" , but Dollar put me in a manager's choice vehicle ( despite my protests) - a massive pickup truck that got less than 18 miles a gallon, would not fit in many parking garages, or even in some of the surface Lots. This would have been a great vehicle for towing a fifth wheel, or moving all of your friends in a single trip. But for my business trip, it was ridiculous and I won't be repeating.

Over an hour wait to get your car from the time you checked in. Extremely frustrating as this was for a one way reservation to drive to another airport and catch a flight; so we could not wait. Caused me to have to cancel my reservation because of the extreme delay and rent a car from another vendor last minute for a much higher price.

My pickup was smooth but I had to request another car because my car was dirty on the outside as if somebody ran into mud but I was cleaned in the front. But I was given another vehicle. Drop off was very smooth. When I put gas back in the vehicle, I filled it up and upon realizing that I advised Ms Tamika operations manager and she assisted me because with a credit. Ms. Jackie checked me in and that’s was very good…it took her 5 mins. I will be using kayak and budget again 🙂

Got there, they had no cars, Budget lied that more cars would be coming in just a few minutes, so I should wait; no more cars were or did come. Awful experience. It was like the Seinfeld episode; they know how to take the reservation, they don't know how to fill the reservation.

The car was banged up and smelled like smoke when I picked it up and then as I was driving north to DC at night, had to turn back and drive about 20-30 miles to return the car for a new replacement because BOTH back tail lights were out. It would have never known except someone on the highway honked and flashed lights to get my attention to tell my my lights were out... which is very dangerous. When I went to replace the car, they were very kind and made it easy - which was appreciated since I had to backtrack to return the other car. However, the car the replaced it with ended up having some emergency warning signs about the automatic rear breaking system malfunctioning. I had to pull over to read the vehicle manual - but because I was in the middle of no where had to continue on until I got into DC and could return it. Not a good experience at all.
