Pros:The staff was professional.Cons:If i got my refund because I never got to rent the car. That would be nice. They should somehow utilize there software to know if there are any cars for rent. Great price. Ok service.Pros:The women at the pick up counter in Syracuse was great.Cons:The instructions in the email had you first call a number that no one answers. I called the national number as opposed to the local one and the customer service representative did not think the Syracuse airport existed nor did he know about the instructions in the email to call the local number Car trunk had trash in it from a previous renter and the car smelled of smoke. Perhaps you have to pay extra for a non-smoking car but I was not aware. No one was at the counter for the return nor answered the phone.Reviewed 22 Mar 2018

Dirty car and smelled like stale smokePros:Pick up and delivery was easyCons:INitially the clerk tried to charge an extra 20$ and then when questioned, he made the adjustment to the original quote. INitially I thought the car smelled like stale smoke, but out the window down and it wasn't bad. The next day, when I drove further it smelled so bad it was nauseating, but I didn't have time to return the car. When night came, I realized the inside of the windshield was filthy and smeared causing considerable headlight glare. There was also a map from the previous renter and a bag of trash in the trunk. When I reported this politely to the clerk, she put a note in my reservation. I don't think she really cared. I will not use this company again.Reviewed 19 Sep 2017

No staff at counterCons:Payless apparently has staffing problems at this site. There was no one on duty at 4 PM. Fortunately, someone from the adjacent Avis counter was able to rent me the car. Otherwise it was fine but it's not OK to have no staff on duty.Reviewed 30 Jan 2017

Pick up and drop off was not funPros:People were very niceCons:Computers down so pick up was very slow. At drop off, the signs weren't clear as to where I was supposed to park. The Hertz people had to explain where to park and that I had to take the keys to the counter. This is at 11am on a Wednesday.Reviewed 28 Sep 2016

Unhappy with insurance arrangementPros:Payless knew nothing of the independent company from whom I purchased insurance, and tried to sell me their own.Cons:Did not understand that I was not purchasing insurance from Payless. Uncomfortable with the dis-connect with Payless. I know you make money on insurance but I felt LESS secure because of the arrangement.
