Oaxaca Cargo Van Hire

Most of the major car rental companies serving Oaxaca have a car rental counter within or just outside the Oaxaca International Airport (OAX). In fact, of the 24 rental car companies in the city, 16 have at least one location at the airport, including Europcar, Alamo, Thrifty, and Hertz. OAX is only about 6.2 miles south of the city center, making it a convenient location to pick up and drop off your vehicle.

Of course, the easiest place for travelers to park when in the city is at your hotel, as many hotels offer free parking. Just call ahead to confirm that you can park a cargo van overnight during your stay. If you’ll need to park while out and about in the city, you’ll find many options for off-street parking in paid lots or garages. For safety, be sure to select a lot or garage that offers 24/7 security. Parking areas include the lots at Cosijoza, Mayordomo and Trujano and the garage Público Epigmenio downtown. Always double check the lot’s hours, as not all of them are accessible overnight.

For Oaxaca cargo van rentals, you’re required to be at least 25 years of age and have a valid driver’s license and credit card. Your US driver’s license is recognized in Mexico, so there is no need for an international driver’s license. You’ll also be required to purchase local liability insurance (which will most likely be included in the car rental contract). The mandatory liability insurance only covers damage done to others - it doesn’t cover damage to the rental car, so you may want to buy a supplemental policy that covers any damage to the rental car in the event of an accident.
