1
9.2 Excellent (1,346 reviews)

8.0 Excellent
Cons: A bit disappointed with the food. I had been dining at several of the city’s best restaurants and had an equally high expectation of the hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The setting, in a restored convent, is incredibly beautifully. There are numerous courtyards filled with citrus stores and flowers. We could always find a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the cool interior. The location is central to everything. We could walk everywhere..to museums, churches, the Zocalo, great restaurants. Very convenient! The staff was incredibly kind and courteous. Everyone we spoke to solved any problem that arose, and we were very content with all the people who work at this hotel. The staff seemed to be very proud of their establish, ent and everything ran smoothly.
Cons: There is no need for the extravagance we witnessed! Changing toilet paper rolls daily, changing bed linens daily, replacing shower curtains and bath rubber mats daily....the property and hotel are exquisite but the amount of water consumed, in a desert climate, is incredibly wasteful! While there are signs everywhere to remind the housekeeper to not change the linens daily, we were shocked by all,the extravagance!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel with so much history. Great service; professional and personable staff.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast (served in three locations) surpassed my expectations. The variety did as well. We travelled from the United States, and the food we had at Quinta Real really opened our eyes.
Cons: Until we opened our window, the room was a little dark. When we opened our window, the room was a little loud considering the local goings on. However, the location is charming, the service is first rate, and we had the choice to keep the window closed. All considered, a first rate experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly located, beautiful grounds and pool, large clean room, attentive service- what more could you ask for? My 22 year old daughter didn't want to leave. Neither did I, will certainly return.
Cons: Nada! Great place on quiet street so close to everything

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is filled with beautiful Oaxaca art
Cons: The street outside is unfortunately quite noisy
5.0 Okay
Pros: Cleaning staff were very nice and very helpful and the location was very convenient. It was way overpriced for what you got!
Cons: The front desk staff could have been a bit more helpful, I think. We had a room with no window and no view and no fresh air but was very expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Oerfectly quiet! Lovely room. Birds during the day.
Cons: The rather large glass topped table in room 206, is clumsy and easy to bump into because you cant see it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When you first enter the heavy wrought iron gates off the street, you are greeted by a serene courtyard that is as immaculate as it is colorful. Located a block from the main square (zocalo), you are never far away from stores, restaurants and bars of this charming city. Many streets are closed to traffic, and they are always filled with tourists and families. Every day, all day, I saw workers cleaning walls, railings. The place is spotless. The staff is friendly and always greets you. They have some shared terraces with loungers where we had siestas in the afternoon while listening to the many caged birds’ songs. I was surprised that they had turn down service. Also, more amenities that some of the higher star places we’ve stayed. Beds were comfy with plenty of extra pillows. Shower was spacious. We booked some great trips through the front desk. I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Not the fault of the property, but we could hear the pounding disco on the other block, but only Saturday night. The water pressure was weak, also not sure if this is a town-wide problem.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property was very clean and the staff was super helpful. Location is nice - 3 blocks from the Zocalo
Cons: The rooms could be bigger
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful small hotel with lovely features. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Location is excellent, just a few minutes from the Central Square and many attractions. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to our friends.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a wonderful place to land our first night in Oaxaca – central location, clean, beyond kind staff. Our plane was repeatedly delayed getting us in well passed midnight. The team stayed in touch with us and let me add a last minute airport pick-up. They were truly generous. The bright colors and birds chirping and flying in the common areas were a joy, and the restaurant staff at breakfast were super welcoming. Three cheers and thanks!
Cons: Some traditional elements - a tile floor room off a central atrium - meant the room was dark and a bit loud. We definitely got sound coming in right off the hall and ricocheting from other places. It's 100% what we expected from the pictures and nature of this architecture so no complaints here but good for potential guests to consider.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location, the friendly atmosphere of the hotel, the open air feeling. The breakfast was lovely.
Cons: The bed was hard and the pillows very full. Would've have preferred a slightly less hard bed and one of the pillows to be more feather and not polyfill.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, lovely rooftop terrace. Lots of character. I have a real objection to plastic one use water bottles and they provided me with a jug that was refilled daily with drinking water. Pleasant staff.
Cons: Nothing really
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the hotel was great. Location was perfect, only a couple blocks from the Zocalo, Very clean and quiet. Bathroom was huge.

Pros: The location and value are excellent. Plus the grounds are very beautiful.
Cons: There were mosquitos in our room, but then a gecko snuck in our room and ate the mosquitos.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful find in a great location. Every staff member I encountered went above and beyond to help. I don’t speak Spanish and they took their time to understand and make sure I had what I needed. The young woman (I wish I had her name) at the front desk saved me when my phone completely died. Breakfast was simple and delicious. Don’t miss the tamale lady! Not fancy but you have everything you need. Beyond the front gates is a beautiful oasis.
Cons: I did not find anything I didn’t like!
8.8 Excellent

Cons: shower not draing well but that easy to solve
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and clean !! The staff is very welcoming !
6.3 Good
Pros: Nice hotel, nice room with great attached bath room.
Cons: 1. Paying more than 200 USD a night, having breakfast included and needing to decide either fruits or orange juice does not match together. Stingy guys are not good hosts 2. On top are included children not provided with breakfast! Children are only allowed to sleep for free, but not to eat anything! Would not imagine that I ever make such an experience. And making this experience in the generally very family-friendly Mexico disappoints me even more. 2. People are arrogant, not respectful and missing basic bahavior skills 3. Noicy Parties till 4 AM in the morning in the night club of the hotel is good if you are a single guy. But it is definitely not family friendly. Good beds and room can only be enjoyed with a silent atmosphere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting, peaceful. Delicious food, including extensive breakfast buffet. Outstanding staff in every department. Clean rooms and property.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was over all, excellent! The staff was very helpful, location was central and convenient no matter what direction we needed to go for our destination. It was clean, safe, and comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything wonderful. This was only one night. We have another reservation here extending our stay another couple weeks. High ceilings, A/C, lovelywalk-in shower. My room is on frouns floor and quiet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great service, food and location
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast that came with the room consisted of coffee, a variety of bread types, and fruit. You could pay for a more extensive breakfast from the menu, but the room was not cheap, and they could have provided a real breakfast. Also, remarkably, enough, the fruit was not very sweet or ripe.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, within walking distance of everything I wanted. Good food; helpful staff.
Cons: No outside windows.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful, the location was perfect, and the room was comfortable:)

Featured amenities include a computer station, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The position Is perfect to walk in Oaxaca
Cons: The service was terrible, the manager is a rude person, a liar and in bad faith. The room was different from the room that I booked.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The beds were fine. Once we got a room off the main courtyard we were quite pleased. The room with two beds in tucked away behind the courtyard was lovely, private, and spacious. Breakfast was good and nicely presented in the courtyard.
Cons: The rooms around the courtyard are on the main floor only. Your room opens onto the public area directly. These rooms have few or no windows and less privacy. Lacked a dresser in our room. We were able to move after the first night.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location Clean room
Cons: Room was small and dark, the only windows gave on a public path, no privacy unless you close the blinds completely, very noisy both during the day (they were remodelling a room next to ours, with jackhammers... impossible to rest) and at night (noise from room above), service was haphazard (we didn’t get the breakfast vouchers on the first day as announced by receptionist, and on the last day, we ordered a taxi for 9 o’clock, except the receptionist has forgotten to do it). When we did receive the breakfast vouchers, we found out we could not choose between Mexican or continental, Mexican was chosen for us... Hot water took several minutes to arrive (at least 5) and didn’t last long. Extremely poor value for money, more than 250 EUR/night for this is clearly not worth it. Will not visit again.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The courtyard was nice and the wait staff was friendly, especially Juan Carlos. The room was immaculate. The hotel is only 2 blocks from the Zocalo.
Cons: THE SIZE OF THE BED IS MISREPRESENTED! My print out says the bed is extra large. The hotel desk clerk says that it is a Queen Size. IT IS NOT. It´s a Mexican queen size which is much smaller than a US queen size. Their bed was like my parents bed from the 1950´s. I am 6´2" and 230 lbs., not enough room for me and my wife. If you're two big people, don't stay here. There was also only one sitting chair in the room, would have loved two of them. No good reading light at night for ONE person.
5.7 Okay
Cons: shower had very little to now water at some point; water pressure was minimal, if any; hot water takes a good 5 minutes to start working, and then it is impossible to regulate. either you get burnt or freeze.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was good, efficiently and promptly served but my one negative is that the coffee was very weak and watery - barely a taste of coffee at all! Not made for those who wanted a real cup of coffee.... Apart from that everything was excellent.
Cons: Everything was excellent.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfiest beds this travel writer's ever slept in. Beautiful courtyard and terrace — loved the private one too.
Cons: Major thing was it was yet another hotel with a WC door that didn't go up (or down) all the way — 12-inch+ gaps at top and bottom made this somewhere I'd never stay with a friend or if I had a family. As it was, my partner and I had to ask each other to step out onto the terrace, where we'd be bitten by mosquitos (Maybe some citronella plants on the terrace for mosquitos). I just don't understand why hotels do this (there's not many couples into hearing each other's bodily functions...). Lobby area very small, nowhere to sit while waiting to check in (courtyard right there but then you might lose your spot in the queue).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved how the property looked, from th front desk to its courtyards... my fave is the cactus plants outside the rooms. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. It was nice to have the toilet and shower separate.
Cons: I can’t really think of any thing terrible about the property.
Azul Cielo Hostel - Oaxaca - Bedroom

8.9 Excellent (610 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Azul Cielo Hostel is centrally located in Oaxaca, a 4-minute walk from Pochote Organic Market and 10 minutes by foot from Oaxaca Textile Museum. Featured amenities include a computer station, multilingual staff, and luggage storage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love this hostel!!! It is a little bit off the beating path. It is super clean, the beds are comfortable, great social vibe, great staff and the breakfast is amazing.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the breakfast, the kitchen, the ambiance and the staff.
Cons: I really liked Azul Cielo. I had originally booked for 2 nights and was happy with rate for a room with bathroom. When I needed yo cancel one night, however it wouldn't let me rebook the same room so I had to book the most expensive room which was a suite which cost $20 more per night. That's why I didn't check high on "good value" above.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was really super nice! The breakfast was good and eating it in the beautiful yard was even better.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Many people here in the reviews complaint about the hostel’s location. I loved the location! It’s a little outside the noisy and touristy streets of the center but everything is walkable and there are some small and lovely shops and restaurants very nearby. Moreover, every detail at this hostel is made with love and the breakfast is really good!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay at this little hostel, and I would not hesitate to come back. Everything was just perfect: the delicious breakfast, the spotless clean room with a super comfortable bed, and the character of the place and communal areas. I must also mention staff - I can't thank them enough for all their help and care. A special thank you to Marty and Fatima for the warm welcome and support throughout our stay!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice welcome after a night bus. Female dorm beds were really comfortable, nice to have privacy curtains and plug/light. Wifi was good in the dorm, pretty quiet at night. I only stayed one night but seemed to be a nice vibe in the hostel. I will stay here again.
Cons: No secure area to store luggage prior to check in. Staff a bit hit and miss, some were friendlier than others.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Provided filtered water, a delicious brekkie and dorm was fresh and airy. The rooftop was great and the general vibe of the hostel was really nice.
Cons: Only two toilets and showers although I rarely waited and never for long. The fourth bunk in the room makes it a little cramped, but not too bad.
Palacio Borghese - Oaxaca - Restaurant

Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. A shuttle from the airport to the hotel is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location is Great!! Clean Facilities!! Spacious room. (We stayed at Roma) Friendly staff (Specially Javier)
Cons: The shower in our bathroom did not work properly so we had it changed! We had some issues with the room lighting but it was also fixed. The safety box is very old so we couldn’t open it. We had it open with a key!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast in charming inner courtyard. Prompt and courtesy service. A very pleasant concierge visited our breakfast table each day to tell us about local events. He was available to make reservations and fix anything we needed right away. Upon our return each afternoon, we were offered complimentary refreshing drinks in the courtyard. We so appreciated the kindness of everyone at the Palacio Borghese
Cons: Not enough drawer space for clothes.
7.0 Good
Pros: Fantastic service - friendly, attentive, personalised. The terrace is good
Cons: The decor is a little dated - and not to everyone's taste
9.6 Excellent
Pros: My favorite hotel in Oaxaca centrally located on a quiet street with a helpful staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great comfort and an oasis of tranquility in the rapidly moving city Breakfast was wonderful as were their ever changing fruit becerages
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is enthusiastic, always offering help, with good recommendations for restaurants & activities. Every morning at breakfast, we were told of events of that day, such as a concert. Our "junior suite" - actually a large room, was bright, with views from the shared terrace of rooftops, mountains, and sunset. The included breakfast was ample & wonderful, and more options were available at extra cost. Location is great, close to museums, shopping, & restaurants, but not adjacent to the noisy zocalo.
Cons: There's weekend noise until very late, from bars, but that may be true of most places in the center. Weekday nights in January were quiet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous hotel with a nostalgic flair. Super friendly staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was unbelievable--nothing was too much trouble. We felt like pampered royalty. The breakfast was delightful--freshly baked breads, fabulous Oaxaca hot chocolate (or coffee of course) , fresh squeezed orange, or green, or carrot juice), and a gorgeous fruit plate. It felt like staying in a mansion with your own staff. HIGHLY recommend.

6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast is nice and plentyful. Rooms are big and nice and very clean. The outdoor are with the pool is very nice and the view from up there is very nice.
Cons: We booked a room for three people. The room had two beds which were very small for two people to share. Breakfast is supposed to be starting at 7 o’clock. One day we had a tour planned and really needed to have breakfast on time but the staff was not even at the hotel at 7 o’clock. The rooms are located around a patio where also the breakfast is served. If you stay at the ground floor it is pretty noisy in the mornings.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooftop was nice, though I didn't get a chance to dip in the pool. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional. Can't stress how enough how helpful they were with arranging transportation and holding our luggage before check-in. The rooftop and pool are definitely the highlight, so please make use of it!
Cons: I was spoiled by really great stays earlier in Oaxaca and at the beach in Zipolite. This place wasn't bad, but the stay just didn't live up to the two others. There was a cockroach in the room when we first arrived, but we were too tired to complain. Though the location is extremely central, it was almost too busy, too right in the thick of it, for my liking. The rooms are a little dreary, not quite as nice as the pictures suggest. I wouldn't stay here again, when there are so many other options in the city.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great room with high ceiling. Breakfast was awesome. Staff were fantastic and the best location in the city!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was great, staff excellent, breakfast amazing, the best location close to everything historic sites, restaurants etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable, quiet, cool and calm, despite being in the centre of the old town. Lovely pool area with bar and decent snack lunch options. Highly recommended.
Cons: Nothing not too like.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Pleasant helpful staff Good choice of hot dishes at breakfast. Roof top pool. Central location
Cons: Repeated key card system failure if card placed near mobile phone.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. Staff was extremely helpful.
Cons: My only tiny suggestion is to get new toilet paper holders. The rolls kept sliding out of the holders.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was everything. Two blocks to El Zocalo. We walked everywhere. Hotel was nice, rooms were modern, bathroom was clean and breakfast was great.
Cons: Bed was really hard! A person in our group cancelled, tried modifying our reservation to 1 room instead of 2 but they wouldn't allow it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything well great. Excellent location Excellent customer service
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great, as was the daily breakfast. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Cons: The rooms were a little loud and not too dark at night.
1.0 Poor
Pros: The entertainment in the evening was 3 amazing opera singers.
Cons: The rooms were covered in mold dripped from the ceiling and were unhealthy to stay in. When I pointed at the fridge that was covered in rust and leaking all over the floor, I was told that they would mop it up and if we did not plug it in then it would not happen again. The espresso machine at the coffee bar leaked so badly that the coffee was full of grounds and and very weak. The restaurants were unappealing, the steak advertised as filet mignon was a tough piece of stewing steak and the sauce on my friends pasta tasted like ketchup. In fact it was so bad after one night we left and went somewhere else even though we could not get our money back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I thought the staff at the hotel was lovely and helpful. After a long travel day we arrived a little before standard check-in time. The staff was able to accommodate letting us into our room early which was so appreciated! There is a cute little courtyard in the middle of the hotel which is very peaceful. The room was perfect, modern, clean, and bright. The bathroom was also the same. The hotel uses solar power, and the shower was always hot after a couple minutes which was a real treat. The staff mentioned if the water wasn't hot to call down - which I never needed to. They also have water coolers on each floor so you can refill your water bottle which was fantastic. The Benito Juarez market is right outside the door and the zocalo is a couple streets up - as is the Mercado 20 de Noviembre. I would definitely recommend Hotel Trebol to anyone visiting Oaxaca City.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, breakfast included, spacious rooms.
3.7 Mediocre
Pros: The location was good...... Close to Centro. Coffee, yogurt, granola and papaya were nice for breakfast.
Cons: We had NO hot water. This hotel claims to be pet-friendly on this website but we were surprised on check-in with Terri's flippant comment that dogs weren't allowed. I showed her the reservation sites which state that they allowed pets. She said the info was a mistake! I offered to leave for a refund but she permitted us to stay....As it was raining...We were grateful but cannot recommend this hotel since we couldn't even shower, the water was ice cold. I've since read that this is typical.

Pros: Clean
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: General positive attitude of service staff
Cons: Low water pressure, no daily towel change, simple amenities like towel cap + tissue box not provided, room layout at door front makes it imposdible to walk in straight....
5.0 Okay
Pros: Very clean
Cons: The walls are so thin, you can hear everything next door. It was so loud.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was lovely. The rooms were basic but we expected that, they were clean and perfectly functional. Location was great for walking to central Oaxaca.
Cons: Only complaint is that the walls were very thin so we heard everything (and I mean everything) from our neighbours of both sides.
6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast tea and coffee at night.
Cons: Noise from adjoining room. Walls very thin. Could here everything. Laughing, talking, snoring.

7.0 Good
Cons: Room was clean, comfortable, but opposite the garage ramp. It was noisy until nearly midnight.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location is superb, and that's what you pay for.
Cons: Really loud, you could hear the slightest noise from rooms close by and the corridor felt like being inside the room itself. We stayed during the weekend and the noise from bars/roof-terraces where clearly audible, like if the party was in the hotel. For the price the rooms where not that nice and it seemed old and a bit run down. There are no power outlets bin the room, only in the bathroom directly over the sink, which is terrible for charging your smartphone.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Only the location of the hotel was really good
Cons: 1. The shower flooded half the room only after 5 minutes (yes, we took the lit off of the drainage) 2. Not enough power outlets in the room (only 2, in the bathroom...) 3. The rooms are really noisy, we could literally hear what people were saying to each other in rooms next to us and arriving at the their room and leaving again with slamming doors. 4. The bed was very small, so if you are a tall person, you will hardly fit in. So, no, I cannot recommend this hotel
6.8 Good
Pros: The Breakfast and the Location
Cons: They ran out of water, then the water was cold, The personal no so friendly
5.1 Okay
Pros: Great staff and clean facilities
Cons: TERRIBLE wifi that doesn't reach rooms, the most hard uncomfortable beds ever, and hardly any outlets to charge devices
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, comfy bed ,excellent location and a very clean room.
Cons: Nothing.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location of the hotel is what you are paying for since its really central. breakfast was good but i think is not worth paying for it since you can just walk around and find something cheaper and better.
Cons: the rooms are kinda small the restrooms are super uncomfortable and there was only one power outlet in the restroom and the one where the tv was plugged that is really inconvenient.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient to tourist attractions, galleries, museums, street fairs. Tall young woman on the morning staff was bi-lingual, very friendly and gave the best hints about finding items (ibuprofen, coffee) in the neighborhood. The restaurant was quite good (especially the shrimp pasta) and in the mid-range price-wise (as is the hotel). The bed was firm (as I like it) and overall it made a budget-conscious trip very affordable. There is a programmable safe in the room which can easily fit a camera, a laptop, lenses, and valuable documents without issue.
Cons: The windows on interior rooms are arranged around small shafts that carry sound -- other guests, showers, etc. This was an issue after 1 a.m. Additionally, there was renovation being done on hotel rooms from very early in the day, most days of the week (including weekends). The pool is relatively small and in a courtyard surrounding by the building so that hours of poolside sunlight are limited. Since I was there for more than a week, these items came in to play. I don't offer this as criticism, just for awareness when booking. Also, there is an envelope for tips on the nightstand -- when I had no small bills to put inside, service declined. I preferred less service, but even when I left the do not disturb sign on the door, I found my room cleaned. I am a very private person, so this felt a little bit like a violation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The style of the building, the location, the breakfast
Cons: The forniture is a bit old, but it’s a very good value for money overall!
