Pros: Breakfast was very good, I had bircher muesli and coffee. Both were excellent. I chose the location for its convenience to Bourke Street Mall, as I was travelling with my elderly mother. It was perfect. The beds were very cosy and comfortable. Great shower pressure. Excellent toiletries.

The free happy hour was fantastic and the included drinks and nibbles all day for guests was very unique and a great bonus. Cons: The room service is a bit slow. I asked for a duvet around 2am and I waited for more than 30mins to get that. Mattress is too soft but the sofa is very comfortable. I ended up sleeping on sofa in the 3rd night because the mattress was not my type. LOL.

Pros: My friend and I stayed for two nights in a delux twin room. Despite receiving confirmation my request for two beds had been received we were initially offered a room with a queen bed. The staff quickly arrange to change the beds and when I asked to change rooms as the one offered was dark they moved us to a lovely room looking out on Bourke St. The room was well equipped (toaster) and had a good shower. The beds were comfortable. We would stay again and recommend to friends.

Pros: The location would be the biggest plus. Very central to everything and having the tram at your door step is an absolute plus. The front desk staff were particularly welcoming and efficient, and always had a smile.
Cons: The room, on the 9th floor and end of the corridor, must have been close to the car park or an external vent. It was noisy throughout the day, and still quite noisy up to midnight fri-sunday. I also got a room with windows that faced a cement wall; so all in all I had a pretty bad room. Something that is more modifiable is the cleanliness of the room - the carpet was dusty, dated and stained (needed a serious steam clean), the shower and multiple areas of the room (e.g. study table, sink, couch) still had hair from previous customers. The room service was also so late in the day for my room around 1-2pm (which is the time I got back from meetings and wanted to have a nap or follow up on some work). So I either had to miss room service, or call them to come most days. There was also variability with room service standards (some helped load the dishwasher, some didn't; some tidied up the room a little and did some basic vacuum, while somedays they only changed towels and emptied the bin). Also, many toiletries and basics like toothbrush, comb, slippers, shouldn't need to be a special front desk request. These should be in the room for a 4 star hotel.

Pros: We had gone to Melbourne to see the new Harry Potter play. We had booked a normal Junior Suite room but the hotel gave us the Harry Potter themed Junior Suite as a free upgrade. Not sure if it was just the last suite they had available or it was done as a nice surprise. Either way it made out stay in Melbourne much more... magical. We ordered room service for two dinners and one lunch because the food was fantastic and well priced compared to restaurants in Melbourne. Thank you to all the staff at Hotel Windsor Melbourne who made our stay so fun and memorable.

Cons: Although I did have a room with window, I was unable to open it for fresh air. Hot selection I chose as part of $25 breakfast deal was bland; also no fruit included other than glass of fruit juice.

Cons: The bed was old and saggy, the room was not really clean, found empty bottle in a corner, a hand print on the ceiling and the arm on the chain was oddly sticky ( I don’t wanna know) just to name a few. The city view room looked at a giant tree if you could see over the balustrade. The rooftop bar was old and in need of updating or repair with the powder coating coming off some furnishings.

Pros: Doubletree at Flinders has all the makings of a being lovely hotel -- warm service, well-maintained rooms and in a very accessible location right next to the tram stops and Flinders Station.
Cons: 3 major drawbacks -- a city centre hotel without free in-room wifi access [there is access at a prohibitive price] is really unacceptable in this digital age, and shows a shortsightedness one does not expect from a Hilton brand. Whether you're travelling on business or leisure in Melbourne, wifi access is a must as this is a city firmly in the digital age, and Doubletree shows it lack of vision by not being up to speed.
The pillows were terribly poor quality -- flat, with all the fluffiness gone out of them. Made for a very uncomfortable sleep. Surprising as one would think Hilton would get this fundamental right.
The area immediately around the hotel is dodgy -- with vagrants, drunks, homeless and the general underbelly of a city you hope not to see. Not much Doubletree can do about this, though, as it's a sacrifice you make for train access.
But if you're a single traveller, and have to move about early morning or late at night, be careful. It may not be the best spot to be in.

Cons: The room we was changed to was smaller and even felt it. The bathroom light turned off while I was in the shower leaving me in pitch black darkness. This also happened to my friend. The little hallway light came on at 6:40am, no idea why or what may have set it off??

One night when I was back, the entrance of grand mercure was closed, I have to go back to welcome mercure to know that it's changed again. I chose grand mercure swanston because its on the main street, end up it was so inconvenient. The renovating information should have been more clear on the booking site.

Cons: The room charge included free WiFi which was not available - it kept saying 'connected/no Internet' - we raised it with staff; however, they offered no solution so we were without internet for the duration of our stay (would have been nice to access it to search for attractions, etc.). Also, there was no air-con and so we were forced to sleep with our windows open, wouldn't be too bad if not for the fact that the place is right in the CBD and so extremely noisy at night.

We found people on the street in Melbourne to be extremely helpful, but we would have been spared a lot of stress & nervousness if the hotel staff would have known these exact details, before we left to venture out on our own.

Cons: The bathroom sink was blocked. I reported this the night we arrived and again on the second day but nothing was done about it. There was no plug for the sink, no power point in the bathroom and only a mirror in the bathroom which made drying hair very difficult as there was no PowerPoint to plug the dryer into. The cost of the room was very expensive, working out to be $ 192 a night at a total of $577 for the three nights we stayed. Obviously there were events on in Melbourne that made accommodation very expensive. Supply and demand! Not such a budget hotel as the name suggests. I have stayed at Ibis hotels before and probably will need to again in the future however this one will not be my first choice.

Pros: The bed was comfy
Cons: Everywhere was very shabby, carpet stained in the room. Room was very small and there was nowhere to put your clothes. This was due to despite there being a wardrobe it contained a full size fridge with kettle and tea making facilities on top, leaving a tiny amount of hanging space, which was unusable as it was a safety risk to hang things next to an electric kettle, plus there were no drawers at all in the room so we had no choice but to live out of our suitcases for four days,

Cons: The bathroom was tiny, like on an economy level cruise ship. I specifically requested an accessible room, by telephone to the property. The receptionist denied that request had been made. She arranged for a shower chair, which unfortunately was extremely difficult to use. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable for both of us. We arrived mid-afternoon and asked if we could have a drink in the hotel as there was no decaf coffee in the room.. The answer was that we could go to their Soul cafe round the corner. Two milkshakes at $8.50 each and a view of the attached quite busy casino was not what we imagined a hotel cafe would be like. After our theatre show, we went looking in the hotel for hot chocolates. My husband finally appeared with a Subway hot chocolate and two bonus choc chip biscuits, as again no such drinks available in the hotel., not even in Room Service..

Cons: Our view was a concrete wall, full stop. I realise this cannot be helped but it was not very inspiring. We have stayed at the Welcome before and we will be staying there again in spite of the restricted views.

Pros: We needed to book future travel plans, but their wifi was terrible. Also, we were over a bumpin' nightclub which meant no sleep. Staff did cordially bring a wifi booster since we PAID for the crummy wifi, but it was still crummy. Location was near enough to theater district, the lovely Bank pub, and a nlocknor two from the free team. Great, efficient staff.

Cons: - bed and room was dirty - hotel appear run down - no provision of simple essential like mineral water, (chargeable), toothbrush, bathroom slipper, etc - club directly below the hotel was simply unbeatable as the loud music was on-going from 10pm to 3am for both Fri & Sat during our stay
