It's warm, inviting, smells great, well-appointed and decorated and the lounge package is excellent value for money. The staff are lovely with nothing too much trouble for them. They especially take care of my husband, a coeliac, by ensuring he has plenty to eat, and my mother in law who must adhere to fructose free. Not many hotels are so caring.

Pros: What a gorgeous place!!! The attentiveness of the staff was fantastic. the food was wonderful - I ate at the Melba and although it was exspensive it was exceptional food. The room was lovely. My primary reason for selecting the hotel was the old world charm of the hotel. I don't see value for money in modern hotels. I booked 2 rooms for myself and my husband, our older son and a family friend and would do so again. We all had a massage at the Chuan Spa which I found was outstanding. The staff there were amazing and the masseur although young was extremely talented and well trained. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. If you like comfort and extreme luxury and to be surrounded by beauty. I think it is the best in Melbourne.

For a 5 stay hotel I expected better quality. The room service meal was atrocious, our pizza was under baked and cold and the pasta was cold and very chewy, not nice at all. For the size of the room the tv was way too small and the remote very temperamental.

There had been some kind of spill at the entrance which had not been cleaned up. It was slippery and dangerous, the tv cabinet and the TV itself was very dusty, I was disappointed to say the least.

Pros: Small, historic building with beautifully decorated hallways in soft green hues. Inviting fireplace in bar next to a cool pool table (that harkened back to the building’s former history as a pool hall.) Delicious welcoming T2 tea warmed by candle at the reception. Every person who worked there was extremely warm, knowledgeable, and provided exceptional hospitality. Top notch restaurant and room service. Plunger coffee available upon request every morning and a variety of T2 teas in room. Best of all was our junior suite! With ceilings at least 12’ high, the living area included a chaise, chair with ottoman, breakfast table, flat screen TV, and ample closet and drawer space for unpacking. A cabinet containing a second TV separated the sleeping area. The upholstered headboard was surrounded by stylish light fixtures and pristine white linens and mounts of pillows invited one to snooze comfortably between winter outings in Melbourne’s CBD. This was the most comfortable bed in which I have slept in 60 countries.

Pros: The room proved to be a haven and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. It was a very unpretentious but sophisticated hotel in the perfect place for us.
Cons: Small complaint but they could do better on the coffee! I'm pretty serious about coffee and good coffee is part of the 'offer' of Melbourne. Make sure baristas are trained and skilled, please. Also reception staff, please avoid saying, "Ma'am" in every sentence. It sounds engratiating and insincere. Once is fine.

Pros: Small, historic building with beautifully decorated hallways in soft green hues. Inviting fireplace in bar next to a cool pool table (that harkened back to the building’s former history as a pool hall.) Delicious welcoming T2 tea warmed by candle at the reception. Every person who worked there was extremely warm, knowledgeable, and provided exceptional hospitality. Top notch restaurant and room service. Plunger coffee available upon request every morning and a variety of T2 teas in room. Best of all was our junior suite! With ceilings at least 12’ high, the living area included a chaise, chair with ottoman, breakfast table, flat screen TV, and ample closet and drawer space for unpacking. A cabinet containing a second TV separated the sleeping area. The upholstered headboard was surrounded by stylish light fixtures and pristine white linens and mounts of pillows invited one to snooze comfortably between winter outings in Melbourne’s CBD. This was the most comfortable bed in which I have slept in 60 countries.
Cons: Only one criticism: The entrance has 4-5 stairs which makes it difficult to haul suitcases. There is a contraption that appears to be a lift for wheelchairs—not suitcases, however.

Cons: renovating long delay for breakfast because they were renovating. Waited 25 minutes for a cup of tea. 1 coffee machine. 1 operator. No facility to make our own tea so had to wait until 20 coffees were made. Hence the delay for breakfast. no cocktails at the bar because they were renovating? Why? Noisy on lower levels. I accept that , they are renovating, but tea and cocktails? I was not told of renovations at the time of booking and feel cheated

Cons: Couldn’t get a solid sleep as the water pipes making noise. Other groups that stayed there had same problems and they haven’t fixed it. I stayed because of fatigue management and was a waste of money. Felt more tied after waking up with noise all night.

Cons: Falls short, even for a budget hotel. A good, low-price hotel should still have a fresh modern feel, and have working/available amenities. Unfortunately, Atlantis doesn't currently offer this.
The air con in our room was "working", but ultimately useless. Lowered the temperature in the room by 1 degree after 10 hours of use, even on maximum cooling setting. Most of the rooms in the hotel face west, so the hot afternoon sun in Melbourne is a killer without good air con.
Grout in the bathroom needs re-doing. Nowhere to hang your towel so that it dries overnight.
Ironing board, but no iron?
Mattress fine, although certainly nothing to write home about. Pillows bad - only one per person. At least a couple of spare pillows in the wardrobe really not that hard to do.

Pros: Ridiculously central and convenient - I walked a few minutes to the hotel after alighting from the airport shuttle bus at Spencer Street station. Plenty of shops and food eateries/ cafes, etc on my doorstep. An extremely comfortable bed (firm; just how I like it!) and a quiet room. The staff members were very helpful and good-natured. Checking in and out was a quick and easy process.

Pros: Despite the central location, noise was not an issue. Room was clean and had enough space to work at the desk as well as ample storage.
Cons: Getting out from the hotel on the last morning was difficult - all the lifts were very busy and it was about a ten minute wait (the first lift that came had no space in t because a staff member was transporting a large laundry cart despite how busy it was). But this was the only gripe in a five night stay.

Cons: Pillows in rooms need updating - not comfortable at all. Fire alarm went off and the way it was handled was extremely poor- very little instruction or information given to guests and even wrong information being sent over the PA system...

Cons: The first room was extremely noisey with air con system going off and on all night, no sleep the first night, spoke with reception and they changed us to a quiet room 118 (said they had a full house) with comfy beds .....but the room itself was AWFUL, it had squeaking floor boards as in 2/3 of the floor, we kept wondering if we were going to fall thru it was that bad, and awful when getting up in the night to go to the bathroom and not wanting to wake my colleague the carpet was dangerously well worn at the bathroom entrance, the furniture had big marks and the varnish was coming off on all the surfaces and the bathroom had mould in the grout in the shower and on the floor, really disappointed with the decor of the room - housekeeping forgot to top up milk and teas

And putting a slice of bread into the toaster 3 times to get even a small amount of crunch was ridiculous. Room Service menu lacks selection. What I ordered and received was lovely, however no salt or pepper were provided and 4 packs of tomato sauce was a bit of an overkill for one chicken burger.

Cons: The lift could be faster but minor complaint for the price.

Pros: Great Location. Just nearby to Southern Cross Terminal -after getting off the Bus from the airport it's just a few minutes walking distance and easy to find. Facility was fine , clean and comfortable. Nearby to tourist places and very accessible. Fair enough rate during your stay.

Pros: location location location ..... my 5th or 6th stay here, just love the place, so close to everything, and just across from the train station is so handy. Marvel is only a 5 min walk, and the casino isnt much further.. highly recommended.
Cons: not much really, a little ageing, a few imperfections, flaking door, some less than professional repairs, but absolutley nothing that would stop me staying here again, my hotel of choice with every trip.

Pros: Location close to Sky Bus at Southern Cross. It was a very hot day but my room was cold on arrival, thank you to the cleaning crew had left the AC . Well priced and perfectly cooked steak dinner in hotel lobby restaurant.
Cons: TV did not have international news stations.

Pros: The hotel is central located to the city and public transport. The hotel has a nice restaurant which is well priced.
Cons: The room was very noisy from the outside traffic. The room was also cold and it was not possible to run the air conditioner during the night as it was extremely noisy.

Cons: Bright light from outside shining through cracks of door and windows made it hard for me to sleep both nights. But I am sensitive to light.

Cons: Admittedly on arrival I approached the incorrect counter. The lady went of on a tangent and wouldn't listen to me and played a guessing game, trying to find my name. I asked her to look at me so that she could understand what I was saying. She had NO interest in obliging. When she offered that I might be Steven Moriarty, I questioned to myself, was she the right person for front of house.After a short difficulty with the second person I bounced her and she came good and was then very pleasant and helpful.
