I had got what I thought was a fair deal for the price. I purposely requested a Ford Edge or equivalent. My brother had to pick the car up because we had flight delays. He was told that a ‘similar’ car would be a Toyota Corolla, etc. No go. We have four adults and luggage. The only vehicle he could get that was ‘similar’ was a Jeep Wrangler. Not a direct comparison. It did fit our luggage, but that vehicle is designed for off-road and a little highway: Seats are uncomfortable (my wife has bruises on her thigh trying to get out of back seat ), poor visibility (huge sensor on center of windsheild), poor gas mileage (18mpg at best). I reserved a full sized car and was given a giant raised truck. They said this was the only option. So for my 500 mile trip I had to drive something that gave 12 miles to the gallon. What's the point of a reservation if it's not reserved...Reviewed 22 Jun 2026

Confusion between French side and Swiss side; originally got told to go through Swiss part regardless but they had no record of the res even. Car smelled ferociously like cat pee. All good - having never rented a car in Europe I chose Hertz over the other options as am a Gold member and have used Hertz for many years. The pickup/dropoff processes were seamless and the staff went above and beyond helping with an infant car seat.Reviewed 17 Jun 2026
