Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location perfect to visit Ghent and to be outside of the city with one way streets. Quiet location. Excellent breakfast with a big selection of food. Very nice, accommodating and flexible hosts! Big room, separate bathroom ... almost a small apartment
Cons: There is nothing that can be improved
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was just fabulous. The hosts are lovely people with great knowledge of the area, a genuine interest in their guests and a focus on local products, as well as many self made delicacies including homemade bread and yogurt. The villa is beautiful, as well as the garden. The room we stayed in was a little suite with separate sitting room and highest quality fittings. Generous size bed with very comfortable mattress and bedding. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Cons: In our room there was a very narrow and tight spiral staircase to the bathroom which was difficult for me at night.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The building and the garden are really beautiful, the quality and consistent style of decorations stands out even in the boutique hotel category. The hosts are nice, breakfast is high quality. Minibar is reasonably priced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My partner and I visited Ghent for a conference and stayed at Villa Emma for 3 nights. It was the best place ever. The couple owning the B&B was super friendly and the villa was magical. We had an awesome breakfast every morning (with freshly baked (still warm) bread!) and in the evening after a long conference day it felt like coming home. On our day of departure, the owner even dropped us off at the train station. A truly unique experience!
Cons: Everything was perfect.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location on a quiet street, yet only 10min walk away from the city centre. Very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. One of the most comfortable hotel beds I've had recently. Clean, spacious room. Historical building from the outside, yet very modern and stylish on the inside.
Cons: The only gripe was that the bar closes at midnight on a Saturday night. Couldn't even have a cup of tea with a group of friends, because the coffee machine was already switched off (I would suggest obtaining a separate tea-kettle to avoid lost business).
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb hotel with wonderful breakfast. Lovely staff, great location
Cons: Check in staff were very unprofessional and unhelpful. The rooms weren’t cleaned until late afternoon
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful interieur, very good breakfast, attentive stuff
Cons: there was some confussion when the staff decided two put two independent guests into the same taxi.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the most amazing hotels I’ve stayed at with real human capital. The staff were absolutely amazing. I had someone waiting for me while I was getting done. They offered this person a ‘waiting coffee’ and when I joined gave me a complimentary coffee and croissant to join my person. The attention to detail and friendliness was legendary for a European hotel. The room was as a great size and bathroom luxurious. I would stay at this hotel on every stay and wish more establishments could be this way. The lady that helped me and was hospitable to my guest was a Romanian national. I don’t have a name but we’ll done to u.

Pros: Style and attention to detail and quality of staff.
Cons: A king bed in 34 and 35 is tooooooo tight. Change to a queen, add a small chair/bench
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was my first visit to Ghent. Ghent has a beautiful historic town centre and the 1898 hotel is right near the centre. Upon check -in i was kindly offered an upgrade to one of the duplex king rooms from a standard double. This is an impressive hotel, they have managed to retain all of the elegance and charm of the historic building its set in but also it has been very tastefully fitted out to a very high standard of modern comforts - the lighting the bathroom, the minibar (although i didn't have anything) etc all really well done.. this is not easy to do in an old building.
Cons: I only wish I'd been able to stay for more than one night! Would have been a fantastic hotel to go to for a romantic getaway with my wife.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love everything about this place! We received a very warm welcome. The modern rooms are beautifully decorated. You can find beers, wines (at convenient prices) and tea/coffee in the room. The location is perfect, right next to the station. However, as the rooms are very well isolated, we could hardly hear the trains passing. The breakfast room has a beautiful Victorian style. It is a varied breakfast with fresh and quality products. Highly recommended!
Cons: I loved everything! I wish we could have stayed longer!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was small, but comfy, with a large bed. The hosts were very accomodating and friendly. Payment was done at checkout. The hotel was very close to the St. Pieters Station and the city was just a 10 minute tram ride away. We stayed during the Gentser Feesten, a very busy time for Gent with lots of visitors, but still payed a reasonable price for the location.

Pros: Charming, quaint, intimate B&B with only 4 rooms, making it feel like you're staying at someone's beautiful home. Incredibly friendly and helpful host who provided great dinner recommendations, both right around the corner and in the city centre. Best rooms in Ghent

B&B Lieven Bauwens - Ghent - Building
1
9.3 Excellent (166 reviews)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We were in a spacious room (Delphine) which was beautifully furnished with a lovely big bathroom as well. It was at the front of the house but the street was quiet so there was no problem with noise. Breakfast was excellent and there was a good choice. It is close to a bus route into the central part of Gent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Christine was a wonderful host. The breakfast was amazing.
Cons: If you are a little squeamish you might find it odd having the bathroom separated from the kitchenette only by a curtain. But we were fine with it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly owner. Exceptionally clean. Quiet room. Good breakfast.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owner went out of her way to make sure my little 11 month old girl & I were comfortable & happy. Brilliant place!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: My one night stay was very pleasant and I enjoyed hearing about the history of the house from Christine, the proud owner of the property. I decided on breakfast, which was indeed excellent with plenty of choice.
Cons: The only point of contention was the owner's policy to levy a supplement for my double room for single occupancy. I discussed this with her before I left but she maintained her justification and necessity to do so.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very comfortable. Like a small apartment and kitchen facilities also available.
Cons: We loved staying here. It was so comfortable and our room was like an apartment. There are also kitchen facilities and a garden to sit in. Breakfast was delicious - such a good variety and excellent value. It was also impeccably clean. The location was excellent too - not too far from the Railway Station and in a very peaceful lovely area with parks close by. There are regular trams into the city. Nice restaurants very close to the B& B. The history of the house and family are also fascinating too A very relaxing, enjoyable stay - thank you.
B&b De Waterzooi - Ghent - Bedroom
2
9.7 Excellent (126 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at B&B De Waterzooi in Ghent (Ghent City Centre), you'll be steps from Gravensteen Castle and 4 minutes by foot from St. Nicholas' Church. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We had the Felix suite which was fantastic. Wonderful detail, like lavender bath salts and tampons in bathroom. Lovely blend between modern and old. Location is spectacular, bed is amazing. Breakfast was intimate and personal, like having with family. Will definitely return
Cons: Car was parked 10 minutes away - having said that - for Gent parking in always a challenge, so having any option was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Beautifully decorated. Wonderful and very helpful hosts. Highly recommend!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A perfect experience overlooking the castle. Living area and bedroom, built in music system, and a wonderful breakfast.
Cons: There was nothing I didn't like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The building itself is of great interest, both historically and in terms of the architecture in developing the B&B facilities. It has a great location. The facilities were comfortable and spacious. The hosts were most welcoming and the breakfast was a feast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: B&B Waterzooi was fantastic! If you are going to travel to Ghent, it would be difficult to find a better place to stay. The owners are very good hosts. They are knowledgeable and friendly people. They can help you on your journey through Ghent. You are within walking distance to everything, in medieval Ghent. You are within walking distance to most anything else you would like to see just outside of that. They offer a reasonably priced breakfast that is as good as any hotel. They can also help you with parking if you need it, for reasonable rates. The B&B has an elevator if you need it. You have private and secure entry, to the building. There is wifi, but I never used it. I was out seeing Ghent. They share a courtyard with the Ghent Tourist Office, where you can get your Ghent CityCard, good for free or reduced admission to most attractions, and it comes with free mass transit included. The Ghent CityCard also includes a free river boat tour, of your choosing. The two hour Ghent Walking Tour, the Tourist Office offered was about eight euro. There is an excellent steak house that shares the entryway area of B&B Waterzooi. The owners will tell you about it, and guests get some discounts. I stumbled into the B&B Waterzooi. I live and work in Belgium, at this time. I randomly decided to visit without much planning. They just happened to have an opening, as they are usually booked a few months in advance. Now I am spoiled. It would be difficult to stay anywhere else, in Ghent. Of course next time I will stay longer than two days. Thank you B&B Waterzooi!
Cons: There is nothing about the property itself that can be complained about. Don’t drive to B&B Waterzooi. Starting in January 2020 Ghent will enact a smog law that will limit older vehicles. Portions of Ghent’s center are already reserved for pedestrians. Come to Ghent by train. Drive to Ghent, and find paid parking outside the ring road. Then take a taxi. Don’t come to Ghent for a day or two expecting to see everything. Make your stay at B&B Waterzooi for at least three days plus travel days. That is my advice to you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and lovely B&B in the historical building right in front of the castle. It is very convenient to reach by public transport (tram stop is right in front of the building), but most probably you will need to use public transport only to get to the train station, because all main Ghent landmarks and places of interest are in walking distance, the same with the restaurants and bars. Our room was at the top floor, with both elevator and stairs leading to it. It was perfect, with living room, separate toilet and bathroom and bedroom with the balcony at the first level and masters bedroom at the second level. There are quite steep stairs leading to masters bedroom, so please keep it in mind while travelling with children or elder people. Room is equipped with air condition, refrigerator, electric kettle, hairdryer and you may take an iron with ironing board. Hosts are awesome, they are very open and welcoming and Kay has incredible sense of humor.
Cons: It may be a little bit too hot at the second level (masters bedroom) when the weather is hot, as air-conditioning may not get there, but there is fan, which can also be used.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kay & Christian are wonderful hosts & so welcoming. The premises are beautiful, very calming & comfortable. Amazing breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super facility! Super location! Super hosts! We will come back to this B&B

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location is great as everything is right there at the back of the hotel. The view from behind the hotel is spectacular day/night.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Excellent Location. Otherwise an average Marriott.
Cons: From photo I thought it was a converted historic building; it's not. Service uneven; and overall I would rate it low given how expensive this particular Marriott was. I was underwhelmed by this stay. Restaurant nothing special.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: put us on the 4th floor in the new building and room was larger than expected. Close to everything you want in Ghent. breakfast was great
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice room offered with a bath tub (thank you again to the reception staff!), comfy bed. For a quick one night getaway, this was perfect.
Cons: The layout of the second building is a bit wierd, and the signage to get to your room is not very clear. There should also be clear signage in the elevator about which rooms are on which floor. We snooped around and found the basement gym was more a spare mattress storage than a gym, but there was a sauna there which was working. Also, the €18 charge per person for breakfast seemed a bit steep. €15 would have been on the top end of our budget, that's why we didn't go for it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is perfect. Very close to the center, restaurants, bars. The room is very conformable and clean. The amenities in the bedroom, minibar are nice also. The staff was gentle and provided all necessary info, specially the parking instructions: where was the best place to park, etc. I also traveled with my dog, the hotel is totally pet friendly. I did not use the breakfast service as I preferred to have it outside.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location is excellent, very central. Our room was warm and comfy. Everything seemed clean, though once you are out of the main reception area the corridors are a bit gloomy. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: Breakfast was pretty awful. There were flies all over the fruit salad, and when we told a staff member she just wiped them off with a cloth! I found a dead fly floating in my yoghurt - disgusting. Coffee was horrible and nearly undrinkable. I felt the hygiene standards of the food and drink was probably quite bad overall.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fab room with city skyline views Central Location Great breakfast choices Strong WiFi Friendly and efficient staff
Cons: All excellent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First to say, the receptionists, for day and night, were very friendly. The room exceeded our exspectations. It was big, clean, the accomodations were great. Towels were changed, coffemachine and hairdryer worked best, same as died heating. A really big tv was there, and the wifi connection was top. Great stay. Recommended.
Cons: You can beat me for doing so. But there was nothing to complain about. I can't find a single point there. It was one of the best hotels we have ever visited.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. They assisted in finding shops, restaurants and great places to visit! If you’re traveling to Ghent you won’t be disappointed with your stay here!
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location near the castle. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Lift.
Cons: While the bathroom looks like it has been updated, the room was a little worn and could do with a coat of paint.

Pros: Breakfast selection very good, rooms very clean staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: Perfect location, location, location!
Cons: Lack of foyer/bar/restaurant atmosphere and sociability
7.4 Good
Pros: Nice location, comfortable, clean room and facilities. Good and generous breakfast although we missed it a couple days due to poor communication at the front desk.
Cons: We arrived in Ghent very late 11 PM. Reception desk was confused and sent us to the wrong room. It was occupied by naked people who were busy on the bed when we walked in. Amusing for us but very embarrassing for the hotel clerk. He compensated with free beer and apologies. In the excitement he forgot to tell us the breakfast area was located on the 3rd floor. We missed breakfast the first 2 mornings. Another minor irritation was the same dirty coffee cup was left in the room for 3 days, while the bed and everything else was cleaned up. Despite the small gaffes the staff were mostly friendly and helpful and the hotel was nice. We would stay here again.
7.7 Good
Pros: Fantastic Breakfast in a pleasant room.
Cons: room was a bit cramped
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Cool rustic room in a hotel with more modern rooms too. Good sized bathroom. Nearby all the things I wanted to see but not on a main road so it was quiet.
Cons: My room as pretty cool but a bit dark.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: relaxing hotel with friendly staff. Room was clean and very comfortable. Short walk from underground 24/7 car park and close to tourist sites. Enjoyed a lovely local beer at the reception bar.
Cons: Our room was on the ground floor next to the lift which was rather noisy at times.
Hotel de Flandre - Ghent - Bedroom

7.7 Good (2,675 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Hotel de Flandre places you in the heart of Ghent, within a 10-minute walk of Gravensteen Castle and St. Michael's Church. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect for me because it was close to the places where I had meetings and in the morning it was fairly easy to get out of Ghent. The room was clean and everything other than the light in the bathroom worked as intended.
Cons: The room was in another building for which the instructions were confusing. Could've made it clear if the receptionist would just walk to the exit and show me which way the other building is. No parking meant that I had to leave the car in a nearby parking garage and pay extra. The light in the bathroom was kinda broken, the switch didn't function properly and one of the light bulbs was exposed which is a bit risky in a bathroom.
7.5 Good
Pros: I loved that they serve proper coffee for breakfast, which is rich and diverse. The location is excellent, the room is okay: neat and clean.
Cons: The basic room temperature was 17C, which I find rather low in November. I could heat it up in about an hour till 21.5C. But once you remove the electronic card (because you’re leaving the room) heating stops working.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is situated right in the city centre. The breakfast was great, the staff was excellent. We were placed in an annexe building across the street from the main hotel site, which had its own little garden and benches to sit on - great for smokers.
Cons: The bathrooms within our rooms had walls that went only about halfway up to the ceiling. This means that inside the room you can hear (and smell) everything that is going on within the bathroom - be it the other person taking a shower, be it something else. Apparently this is a thing: the open bathroom concept. I had no idea that something like that even existed, and I wouldn't recommend such a room to anyone.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Great location and staff were friendly and professional
Cons: We had to stay in a "2nd" property over the road from the hotel which had a domentary feel to it with no comforts or facilities - very dissapointed at this. Many basic amenities missing for a 4* hotel
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The room was beautiful and very modern. Very quiet--the new part of the hotel is in a building about a block away from the original building and is set back from the street.
Cons: The 15:00 check in time is very strict and the place to leave your bags is out in the open and not very well supervised. Anyone could walk in from the street and take a bag, the front desk wasn't always staffed. This is tough on travelers relying on public transportation. Breakfast was quite expensive (€21 per person for a buffet) so we opted to find food on our own. Unfortunately, very little is open before 11:00, so finding your own breakfast is difficult.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I got a great deal on the booking website, and was very happy with the service and breakfast and room, all very good, and a good location in old town Gent.
Cons: receptionist did not smile once when booking us in or asking questions.
