Fujiwara Ryokan - Nagasaki - Building
1
9.1 Excellent (263 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Fujiwara Ryokan in Nagasaki, you'll be within a 10-minute walk of Twenty-Six Martyrs Museum and Monument and Megane Bridge. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fujiwara Ryokan is about 4 minutes walking from the closest streetcar stop and 10 minutes from Nagasaki station. I booked without breakfast and had two different japanese style rooms with shared bathroom and toilet. Both rooms were in very good condition, very clean and spacious with a porch separated by sliding doors where one can hang clothes and store luggage. But most of all I cannot praise enough the hospitality and friendliness of the people that own and run that place. They have made me feel most welcome and at home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent everything. Good service and friendly. It feel likes my home.
Cons: None.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is good, not far from tram station (a bit walking uphill, though). Room is comfy, practical size for a group traveller. Mr. Fujimori san is super nice. Though he doesn't speak fluent English, he tried to explain things. When we arrived, we found him sit in front of the hotel (as if he's waiting for us). Then he led us up to the reception and managed to get our luggage upstairs (as we left for a day tour in the city). One thing to mention about him is that he wrote to me one day before the check-in date asking if I still come or not and few days after check-out he wrote again asking if I arrived home safely. This is so touching :)
Cons: No elevator. If you have big luggage, it might be a bit inconvenient. Boiled water stops at 11:30 pm. If you plan to stay up late at night, shower must be in the next morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely, quaint Japanese Ryokan run by a gracious and extremely friendly 'older' gentleman. Situated in an excellent location between the hubbub of the Nagasaki Station area and the bustling Chinatown. The traditional Japanese accommodation was both comfortable and spacious.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice place, like home, very Japanese home stay experience Host is very nice!
Cons: not very near station, but it's quiet place, so it's acceptable! if carrying luggages, be prepared for the steps to the room.

Cons: Room a little small.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: location in middle of the shopping street and near all the attrcations room is nice - massage pillow :-) breakfast is good wifi good
Cons: check-in little confusing with the machine parking is very complicate and the hotel did not provide enough data in advance
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location in a mall an easy tram ride from JR Nagasaki with lots of eating locations close by. Friendly, helpful staff, rooms good, even an (almost) westerner- sized bath. Didn’t try the breakfast.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location! There’s a mall down the hotel building and also near to Chinatown :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location steps from streetcar stop, and near coffee shops and food options. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: One of the massage pillows wires were exposed and frayed so it was not working. Wish the room had a couple of hangers near the door for convenience
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good strong shower. Our room was comfortable and quit large. Nearby streetcar and a lot places to eat breakfast/lunch/diner. Therefore we didn't order the hotels breakfast.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Well-connected by tram to major points of interest. Located in a good area with many shops and restaurants. Clean and well-equipped room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I love the location. This is the 2nd time I stayed in this hotel. The room is comfortable though it was a bit of a squeeze for the three of us. The beds are comfortable and most importantly the air con can be adjusted to the temperature we wanted. Awesome. They even have neck massagers on the beds,if we need them. The tram stop is just outside the hotel. It cost a flat rate of Yen130 for each ride. The staff is very helpful with the self check .
Cons: The size of the room but other than that, everything is good.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Shopping area just at downstairs, very convenient

Overview Reviews
With a stay at ROUTE in Nagasaki, you'll be just steps from Twenty-Six Martyrs Museum and Monument and 13 minutes by foot from Megane Bridge. Featured amenities include a computer station, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very nice. We had the family room which sleeps 6. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was nice. We really enjoyed the hand ground coffee in the morning. We ate breakfast in the cafe, sandwich and soup. Food was great and filled us up for our day.
Cons: Toilet was in a separate room just outside the sleeping room, a little chilly at night. The heated toilet seat was much appreciated.
7.5 Good
Cons: steep uphill road to hotel. narrow staircase to rooms, inconvenient with heavy luggages. single lavatory.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great little hostel on the hill opposite to the train station. The best thing about this place is the staff members who show so much love and care, which makes you feel very welcome. The beds are separated with walls, meaning everyone gets a lot of privacy. Common space is small but you can’t really ask for more from a hostel. They also run a lovely cafe downstairs. There is a church, a monument and a museum, all for the 26 Christian Martyrs of Nagasaki, right next to the hostel. You can see the church (which has a unique design) from you room. A great view!
Cons: People who hate climbing the hill and narrow stairs between the floors will not like this place. I’m fine with it, but I can imagine if I’m older I might have problems.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: A warm welcome awaited us in this cozy hostel. Located only minutes from the Nagasaki railway station, and trams, we found it well positioned for our short stay. The staff were lovely and helpful, offering suggestions as to how to see the city in a short time and also recommending restaurants, including where to try the famous Nagasaki Champon noodle soup dish. Yum! Our room was located below ground level. It was basic but clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. The space was apartment size with two bedrooms, each with beds to sleep three. There was a kitchenette, dining table, couch and the shower room had a washing machine, The toilet was located outside the room, which was a bit weird but fine.
Cons: The toilet being located at bottom of stairs from hostel's front entrance.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The place is clean, comfortable, and modern/chic. The staff were very friendly as well. The breakfast that they serve for 500 yen is quite good.
Cons: Usually I don't mind carrying luggage up stairs, but the stairs to the entrance to the hostel are pretty narrow and somewhat steep, so beware for anyone traveling with big or numerous luggage. It also doesn't help that they're located on a hill as well, though the incline is not that bad. The space is also kinda space altogether, so you won't get much personal space, though there is a rooftop where you can chill.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's listed as a family room, but it also works for groups of friends. The location was perfect, located a few mins walk from the station. It's located in the basement, so there's a private entrance. The beds were comfortable, and the divider in between gives a decent amount of privacy for both sides. The staff was very nice and there's a whole cafe on the second floor. The kitchen was fully stocked for cooking and there's a big dining room table which was really nice.
Cons: You have to climb a bit of a hill to get there, so be prepared when carrying heavy luggage. The toilet is located across the hall from the main room, which is only a minor inconvenience. Also, the shower has a kind of rustic feel, but overall it was a nice place to stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really friendly staff. Really close to JR Nagasaki station so an easy walk with my luggage. Opposite the 26 Martyrs Display. Great breakfast and comfy bed/cabin/capsule. Would stay again.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location, friendly owner and staff Nana and Aya.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: The kindness of the staff, even though few spoke English, every single member of staff I met made sure I was having a nice stay. The amazing view. The big room. The onsens. 9.2 Excellent
Pros: Architecture of the resort (Kengo Kuma) very elegant. Swimming pool is nice asset and view of the bay by night really nice. Breakfast in typical Japanese room is unique (but small portions).
Cons: Structure is isolated from everything so for dinner either you stay at the (rather expensive) hotel restaurants or better dine in town. Some devices are not working properly (radio amplifier doesn't connect by Bluetooth) and for others like TV instructions should be added. Staff are friendly but bit cold and inpersonal. The resort is big but didn't seem full so it appeared spooky at night.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Cozy house located next to a shrine in a beautiful area. Offers simple breakfast and tea/coffee. When in weekends, the house is filled with Japanese chatting in the living room and it’s almost like you’re living with a big family. Very nice hosts.
Cons: Bunk bed making a bit of noise. No hot water on 2F.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I think the host is just amazing. They go extra mile to help you and make you comfortable. The hotel is in a suburb area, very quiet and serene. 3 of the 4 tram lines actually have it as the last stop. I liked it that there were no bunk beds (at least in my room). Just 3 mattresses placed on floor, with curtain partitions. A lounge with various material is there. And the host also suggested some nearby restaurants. I would def stay again here.
Cons: It may be difficult to find the place first time but you don’t mind it once you reach the place. The owner did send detailed instructions anyway beforehand. And google maps did the 90% job. Just had to look up their instructions in the last part.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very family-like accommodation. Owner and his wife shared one evening with us talking about customs/culture and it was very lovely and most informative. Surrounding of property is very nice. Both owners have good English (especially for japan). Its less than 20mins from train station of foot (lil bit over 30mins with loaded backpacks).
Cons: Its kind of harder to find (check mail/messages - owner sends good guide that we have missed until next day).

6.0 Good
Pros: The staff was really nice and helpfull !
Cons: Waoh I don't get how this hostel is so well rated ...! The confort in the twin room was ridiculous: the higher bed is hardly more than a wood board with a matress like a paper sheet, and the bottom bed was the juxtaposition of smaller matresses in which we cool feel every spring. I know the staff is great and clearly that's what we are buying, because for the same price we can have a way better business hotel in term of confort.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome, the staff was really friendly. The rooms were perfectly clean, bed with plug and enough space for the luggage. Excellent location in the City. It was one the best hostel I have ever been in.

Pros: well located for the nagasaki train station, and many city sights... very good room facilities, and coffee machine at reception was a nice refresher! well received at reception by matsumoto, and our in-room requests were looked into by in-person visits all the way up our room... :)
7.1 Good
Pros: Close to Nagasaki station (a bit confusing to locate at first when we encountered the pedestrian overpass outside the station, but only takes 5 mins to walk). This is more of a value hotel, so don’t set your expectations too high and you’ll be fine. A good selection of izakaya on the main street outside the hotel.
Cons: We endured a night of second hand smoke inhalation, and it was hard to determine whether it originated from the air conditioning unit or from outside.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location, reasonable size, clean and with everything you need
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good

7.0 Good
Pros: Great location - close to Nagasaki Station. The facilities were pretty good. Would happily recommend this hotel to others.
Cons: The pillows are relatively hard and the bed (double) is smaller than what we're used to but this seems pretty standard in Japan (at least the places we've been to).

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location The room was really comfortable. The breakfast is small but ok.
Cons: The front desk agents could be a bit more gentle and kind. They could try to engage and meet their customers, they just go to the check in and finish with a "that's it" dont try to guide you or get to be friendly. I am not asking for a concierge service but they are part of hotel industry and their interest in the customer could make a great difference.

Pros: The hotel may is in a central location for eating, shopping, and sightseeing on foot. It is a bit of a walk from the train station so I would not recommend it for travelers with heavy or large suitcases unless you are catching a taxi to the hotel. Great for travelers who plan to do a lot of exploring on foot. Also, great for travelers looking to take tours to Gunkanjima.
Cons: The laundry is in the lobby area and there is no place to comfortably sit down and wait.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff spoke perfect English and was attentive all the time, guided through the process with the information. Our room had been clean, the bathroom was clean, full with amenities like shampoo and razor.
Cons: Beside that the bed was a bit small for 2 but that’s an issue anywhere in Japan. The pillows could been a bit softer.
