Pros: We were very pleased with the hotel, it is a true 5 star experience. Great location, just 30 minutes walk to the Funchal city. Beautiful views, lovely garden and very nice sea access. WiFi is available throughout the hotel, even on the beach. Very good breakfast with perfect view from the terrace and winter garden. The restaurant on the beach is also really nice, I liked the seafood and their traditional garlic bread;) The SPA is also worth mentioning - friendly and professional staff, interesting treatments and a truly relaxing atmosphere. The Michelin restaurant is a must-visit place. Would recommend this hotel for those looking for a quiet, comfortable and unforgettable vacation on Madeira!

Pros: This is by far my favorite hotel in Madeira. I'm originally Madeira try to come back every couple of years and stay at different hotels. But I always like to end at the Cliff Bay. From the time you enter the hotel you get first class treatment. Everyone is so friendly.The rooms are spotless the flower decoration throughout the hotel is spectacular. The view from our room with a balcony on the 6th floor is spectacular. The entertainment is also great throughout the day and evening. But my favorite part of my stay is the. BREAKFAST! Amazing!!

Cons: Noise, even through closed window I could hear everything what was happening outside on the busy street. First night (it was friday) I didn't sleep at all. I had to ask for earplugs at the reception, which is not open during a night so I waited till the morning. Floors are wooden, so if someone walked in shoes in the hall or in the next room, I felt like there's earthquake. I heard every step and also felt like my bed is moving. Even earplugs are not helping in case like this. We also went very soon for o trip (sunrise at Pico Arieiro) and there was no possibility to prepare something for us, instead of breakfast we could get that morning. I really didn't understand why. For 1 night, it's OK, but I don't recommend to stay longer.

Cons: We have booked the 'Economic Twin room' which was facing a busy street, the noise level was so high that we could not sleep until 4 am. Next day we have decided that we will move to another hostel, we did not get any refund for the remaining nights as the receptionist said that the "City View" and "Econimic" mentioned in our booking clearly states that the room facing to the noisy street. The hostel itself is nice, just be super careful which room you book.

They have various pillows, so you may choose the one that suits you the most. The only thing is the mattress - it was rather soft. Pros: My wife and I chose the Vidamar as our hotel as we wanted to get away for a shore honeymoon after our wedding. We selected the hotel based on price, amenities, location, appearance in photos on booking website and reviews. This is the first time either of us have actually stayed in a resort style hotel and we must say we were pleased. Staff are very kind, conscientious and willing to help. Amenities are very good and everything is clean. Having just got back to work we are already missing the place and the experience. We expect to be back within the year :)

Pros: My wife and I chose the Vidamar as our hotel as we wanted to get away for a shore honeymoon after our wedding. We selected the hotel based on price, amenities, location, appearance in photos on booking website and reviews. This is the first time either of us have actually stayed in a resort style hotel and we must say we were pleased. Staff are very kind, conscientious and willing to help. Amenities are very good and everything is clean. Having just got back to work we are already missing the place and the experience. We expect to be back within the year :)

Pros: The staff were really friendly and helpful. Location was perfect. We upgraded, and the room was spectacular. All very quirky and modern. It was situated above a small shopping centre and a 10 minute stroll to the promenade. A twenty minute walk to the right of the hotel took you to the restaurants and shops "up the hill" and a fifteen minute walk to the left took you to the restaurants in the old part of the town. There was something to do every day...lots of culture and steep hills! ( But bus transport or taxis can get you around too ) We used the " Hop-On Hop Off bus " and saw so much. Definitely worth the money.

Cons: The service in general. With rare exceptions the staff was reactive and not very nice. More than once we had to grab the menu in the pool restaurant. The food. Was simply bareable. No wow factor at all. The meat in the "prego" was hard and some of the 'lapas" should never be served in any restaurant and even less so in a 5 star hotel. The parking was paid and it took forever every time we wanted to leave the hotel. Last but not the least one dress was lost by the hotel.

Pros: We throughly enjoyed being guests at the Madeira Panoramico for a week during January. We were warmly met by the charming and helpful staff. Our room was immaculate with a spacious balcony and lovely views across Madeira. It's a peaceful spot, removed from the hustle and bustle of downtown. The housekeeping was superb; it was great to return to a spotless room every day after long walks up mountains and along levadas! Breakfast was always excellent with a huge choice on offer - and we particularly enjoyed eating on the terrace during warm and sunny mornings. We were happy to walk down into the city centre (about twenty minutes) - though there is an hourly courtesy bus running during the day if required. We used a public bus to return uphill again, often in the evenings, with a very convenient bus stop right outside the hotel. This is an excellent base to explore Madeira and we appreciated the ease of car parking and the fact that it was convenient to access the main highways from the hotel. We used the indoor swimming pool and hot tub - but it wasn't quite warm enough (for us!) to trial the beautiful outdoor pool with its stunning views! We also visited the Cocktail Bar which offers entertainment in the evenings. Above all, this hotel is a very friendly place and the staff are all cheerful, happy and keen to help.

Pros: I admire the untouched charm of nature of Madeira and comfort of this hotel. Madeira Panoramico is fantastical hotel! It is nice, cosy and very clean. Its situation in the nature is ideally. It has beautiful views on ocean, mountains and Funchal. My room ( on the third floor) was spacious, comfortable, with all conveniences, big balcony and wonderful views on ocean. I could see the unforgettable sunrises and sunsets! The breakfast is excellent! I like the friendly, highly skilled staff of the hotel. I thank Rita, Monica, Carolina, Pedro, Paula, Nuno and other specialists of reception, Emanuel (excellent driver!) and Sonja(clean room is her merit) for attention, care, understanding and help. I recommend this beautiful, hospitable hotel for the rest on Madeira.

Pros: I admire the untouched charm of nature of Madeira and comfort of this hotel. Madeira Panoramico is fantastical hotel! It is nice, cosy and very clean. Its situation in the nature is ideally. It has beautiful views on ocean, mountains and Funchal. My room ( on the third floor) was spacious, comfortable, with all conveniences, big balcony and wonderful views on ocean. I could see the unforgettable sunrises and sunsets! The breakfast is excellent! I like the friendly, highly skilled staff of the hotel. I thank Rita, Monica, Carolina, Pedro, Paula, Nuno and other specialists of reception, Emanuel (excellent driver!) and Sonja(clean room is her merit) for attention, care, understanding and help. I recommend this beautiful, hospitable hotel for the rest on Madeira.

Cons: We arrived on a late flight from Porto. We checked in around 1 AM. The night clerk was not the friendliest person we met in Portugal. He ushered us to our room number 21. The room was the size of cell meant for two inmates. One of the windows opened up on a drab street. However, the next morning, I went to the front desk and asked a very helpful and affable lady to move us. She saved our vacation by moving us to room 31 and the rest is history. This bump in the road should not impact our whole experience. We did enjoy the rest of our stay.

Cons: Anyway, the pool is not that deep so I hit my head at the bottom of the pool when I jumped into it, eventually it happened on my last day so yeah, it did hurt! The jacuzzi and the sauna apparently are not working all day long, from 10:00 am until 6:00pm, I’ve found out only after I asked at the reception. There is an elevator but you can use it only if you want to get down in the lobby. By the way, last 2 times when I used the elevator there was an unpleasant smell of some sort of chews I reckon, can’t say exactly. The hotels in situated next to the port so whenever a big ‘bad ass’ boat comes, you will hear the noise all night long unless you are drunk or tired as f#ck.

Cons: The location is one of the best and worst thing. It is close to everything important in Funchal but it's located in the port which can be noisy during night and early in the evening. Also there is non-hotel restaurant which was a bit noisy every day at least until 1am. This would not be such a problem it the balkony doors seal properly. If they solve this then the hotel would be much better experience.

Smoking on the room's balcony is allowed so if Your neighbor is smoking than You have a smoke smell in the room. We've got this problem and it was solved by transferring us (not smoker) to another room. Unfortunately, the new one was from the street, not pool side so noise in the early morning was quite big. Swimming pool chairs uncomfortable.

The breakfast options were unexciting, if you are staying longer than a few days you will want to seek options elsewhere. There needed to be more staff on the omelette/pancake station too as the queues were lengthy at times. I also think it is a bit cheeky to charge for use of the in room safe!

Cons: The air conditioning in the room was not working, even after we told the staff. The room was super hot. The parking was small. In the breakfast was alwayd th food every day.

Pros: The breakfast was great - a lot of options available, including full English breakfast, surprisingly. Nice friendly staff at the reception desk and at the restaurant. Sitting in the balcony and looking at the sea beats everything. Microwave oven in the room!
Cons: The hotel location was not as described - central Funchal is 15 minutes away by bus (definitely not a 10-minute walk) and Formosa beach is on the other side of the town. There's another beach within the walking distance, though. There was no minibar in the room, just an empty fridge that had not been defrosted for ages. If you want to use the safe in the room, you have to pay for it. The plates in the cupboard were greasy. It would be nice to provide a small bottle of washing up liquid, as the cleaning personnel obviously don't bother washing dishes before a new guest arrives. The shower took a long time to warm up, and at first I thought there was no hot water at all. The TV remote had a thick layer of dirt on it. Weird noises coming out of the ventilation duct, even with the AC turned off. Overall, the hotel is in desperate need of a good clean-up and possibly renovation.

Pros: The pool bar and location was great
Cons: Parking was a nightmare, after about 8pm all parking spaces were taken meaning you had to either block people in and leave the key at reception or park on the street. This affected our plans as we would rather leave the car to not lose our space. The lifts are old and can take up to 10 minutes to arrive in the morning and only fit 4 people. They will also stop multiple floors on the way down. Breakfast buffet was nothing special and did not look appetising.
