I realize that car rental companies make most of their money from selling insurance and "add ons," but the amount of upselling pressure we got from the agent at Green Motion was a huge turn off. It felt like they get you in the door with relatively low on-line prices, but stick it to you upon arrival. We did spring for the extra fee to have automatic transmission, which we were happy to do. (I know automatic transmission is much more in Europe) However not having this option when I booked on line made them seem less expensive that all the other places I looked at, when in fact, they were the same or more expensive. More disturbingly, even though we are covered by our regular auto insurance for rental cars, we purchased the insurance offered when we made our rental reservation, only to be told by person at the counter that the policy was bought wasn't THEIRS and was basically no good. She then tried to sell us their insurance, which would have nearly doubled the cost of our six-day rental, which was already over $1000 for a Toyota Yaris. After we rejected all of the other "options," we were offered an upgrade to a BMW for just an additional $420. I can't imagine that she thought we'd be interested, but this must have been part of her script. Yikes.

Hidden fees. Cost a lot more than what was advertised. Waited over an hour to sign papers and actually get vehicle.

Kayak didn’t disclose that there was a mileage cap at approximately 100 miles per day, which this artificially understated the total cost. The rental agency is very off-site at the airports and does not offer adequate shuttle service. The actual cost of excess mileage is 70% higher than stated. Agents spend excess time in fear tactics based upsell, making the checkin process arduous. (I waited 1 hour for 6 people ahead of me to be processed and in the end STILL had my rental start at the scheduled pick up time rather than the actual pick up time.) The agency charges a deposit equivalent to $1400 USD, which I’ve never encountered before and which is outrageous. I received a lower class (micro) car than what I reserved (compact). The car, worth about 10,000 usd, had 60 horsepower (sixty).

Well you get what you pay for. Unless you get there and need to pay extra fees higher than the rental itself if you know what I mean. The other rental car companies were grouped up in a central area of the airport. Green motion had their office in barracks on a gravel parking lot quite far from the terminals. I was waiting in line for over an hour to collect my car and I am not kidding when I say that everyone accept one of the customers before me had complaints or where angry over the added fees, the lack of cars with their booked specifications and so on. All in all. Next time I rent a car it will be Hertz or Avis.

I felt like I was being scammed. They charged me £277 for a 4cm scratch on the underside of the bumper. Upon both pick up and drop off, a customer at the window was in an intense argument with the staff. I will never rent from this company again.

Of course they didn’t have the kind of car I reserved. The pick up was slow, understaffed, they kept trying to up-sell me. Return was same, slow, mean petty employees, almost missed my flight.

Absolutely awful. It appeared to be the cheapest option for our trip to Scotland, but once we arrived a different story unfolded. The location was a mess; employees seemed over-worked and angry. We were never greeted or even helped while we waited in line for roughly an hour. During that wait we witnessed a customer being charged 300 pounds for a scuffed tire, and long lines of people just trying to return their vehicle. There was a lot of sighing and yelling. We had to make it to a ferry, so we were forced to leave and rent from another company. When I tried to cancel my rental with Green Motion, I was told they were too busy to process my refund. Once everything was said and done with our rental from a competitor, the competitor turned out to be significantly cheaper. Avoid Green Motion at all costs.
