Hidden costsCons:Renting a car from Dollar on the French side (instead of Swiss) was a HUGE mistake. We thought the cost was lower but the reason is because they do not include the essentials that you get with a Swiss rental: vignette for the autobahns (+45CHF) nor winter tires (+80euro) in February! The garage to pick-up and drop-off does not have any Dollar rental personnel so when there is a problem with the car no one is there to help. All around poor service and hidden costs/inconvenience that makes it far easier and cheaper to rent from the Swiss side.Reviewed 26 Feb 2018

Great rental through Dollar on the French Side of Geneva AirportPros:Excellent service. The car was a Skoda and very comfortable for three of us with lots of luggage including a bike in a large cardboard box.Cons:I was a little difficult to find the rental counter on the French side. Also we had to stop at the border on the way to Geneva to buy a vignette for 40 CHF. Apparently this is a toll sticker that is required if you plan to drive on the major Swiss highways. Cars rented on the French side of the airport do not come with this sticker. I am not sure why they don't leave the stickers on the car after the customer purchases it but they seem to scrape them off each time you return the car. Also, cars on the French side do not come with winter tires, so beware if you plan on traveling into the mountains where snow tires or chains might be required.Reviewed 27 Mar 2018

Refused Service/ Could not rent carCons:Hello, the Dollar Car representative refused us service as she believed we did not have the appropriate identification. My boyfriend was visiting me from the US and he had a valid US driver's license. Yet she refused to rent him the car as he didn't have a Swiss license (because he had a Swiss residence permit even though he was just visiting me and currently not living in Switzerland). It was very unfortunate as we have never had a problem to rent a car in Switzerland, ever. I understand that the Swiss are conservative people, overall, but she could have been a bit more polite to us. Fortunately, we were able to rent a car from another provider in town, but we were extremely delayed and paid a lot more money than we expected to rent a car. Terrible dropoffCons:My return flight was at 6:00 am on the Swiss side. In the order I specified the car's return time 3-00 am (French side). The invoice issued to me also indicated 3-00 am. As it turned out, you can return the car only by one single road, which starts far from the terminal and nowhere in any sign "car rental returning" is indicated. Moreover, if you found a road (for example, remembered it when you took the car), you can not get in there from 24-00 to 4-30 am. At this time the road is closed with a gate. Thus, you can get in there only at 4-30 am. Next you have to unload all the things and together with them go up to the second floor, leave the keys in the drawer. Next, you have go through narrow labyrinths with things to the first floor in the baggage claim area and go to the arrival hall. Next, you have go up to the second floor to check in for a flight and hand over your luggage, including an oversized one. Next you have to pass the inspection and passport control. Next, you have find the correct gate to your flight. And yes, your plane can already was flew to this moment, because the flight is at 6 am. The fact that the road opens only at 4-30 am, despite the fact that everywhere in the documents indicated the time of delivery of the car at 3-00 am, no one warned. No one offered a return map to return the car and it does not exist on the site. I with my family and a lot of ski baggage were in time to my flight only because, after understanding all this carelessness, I took the only right decision in this situation. I first checked in for the flight and drop off the luggage (registration starts at 4-00 am) and additional paid for parking at the airport, and then went to return the car. I do not advise anyone to rent a car on the French side!Reviewed 1 Apr 2018

Pros:Picking up and dropping off went well.Cons:When I picked up the car, I inspected it and took pictures of various defects/dents which had not been recorded on the report that I received. I informed the company of the above to avoid charges. On the last day, one of the tires was completely flat from losing air; I had to stop at a gas station to inflate the tire; not convenient when you are trying to catch an airplane. I purchased an insurance online at the time I reserved the car. But when I picked up the car, I was told that I was not insured and I had to purchase an additional insurance. Somewhere along the way I was misled and I still don't fully understand the distinction between the two different insurances.Reviewed 6 Nov 2019

I receive not what I bookedCons:I booked car for 7 person +3 bags, but I got car for 5+2 person, so it was almost no bags when we use it for 7 person. I booked for $428 but I paid more than $800!!!! Pros:Location at Geneva airport easy to find (once you found the shuttle to the garage). Guy at the desk was super friendly! Car functioned fine, was nice and clean. Had to do a long drive, so I got a very good value out of the rental.Cons:I didn't like the surprise additional $30 fee for dropping the vehicle off after hours >_< Not sure if this was Dollar, or this was Geneva airport.Reviewed 18 Aug 2016

Never returnPros:Don't rememberCons:Very unpleasant experience on pickup. We had a late flight and came at 18.00 instead of 12.00. The extremely impolite and rude guy in the reception actually scoldef us and said he has no car for us. But don't worry, he had plenty, just wanted us to beg. Gave us a downgraded car, good only for one suitcase. I will NEVER return. There are so many other companies which are really customer oriented.Reviewed 2 Jul 2018

Unclear Pick up locationCons:Prior to booking I was fully aware about the differences between booking a car on the Swiss side of Geneva airport and the French side. I specifically filtered only for locations on the Swiss side and selected Dollar as they were the cheapest. The confirmation gave the address as Geneva Airport, Switzerland with a Swiss (+41) contact phone number. However upon arrival at the desk and waiting in line for about 25 mins I was informed that my reservation was at the French side. I feel that Dollar were deliberately vague in their booking and I was duped into making this reservation. I then crossed the airport and waited at the Dollar desk on the French side. Because of the delay in getting to the desk the staff did not hold my car. They were able to offer a higher category car but insisted on a premium. Not at all happy about the service and particularly aggrieved at the misrepresentation about the desk location.Reviewed 19 Mar 2018
