Pros: Nothing spécial

Cons: Wifi is very poor. Extra blanket is too expensive. Toilet accessories are not very attractive. Pool is very small

Pros: The breakfasts were amazing and the staff were extremely helpful. The beds were very comfortable and the rooftop pool was great.

Cons: We would not pay extra for a balcony room again because it was so small.

Pros: Great location, great staff, great hotel to stay for business travel.

Pros: The staff were very thorough and hospitable. They did a great job in representing U Nimman, above helpful and always attentive. The rooms were immaculate; clean, great value for money, and luxurious, and most importantly a very comfortable bed. We only had breakfast at their restaurant, but absolutely loved the quality and diversity on offer. Not to mention, the market style theme in which it is possible to watch the chefs prepare a fresh dish on the spot. Not only would I return to U Nimman, I highly reccomend this hotel, and would happily stay for longer in the future.

Cons: Cannot really list many negatives. Would prefer if the rooms were a little more soundproof, could hear sounds from corridor.

Pros: Hotel was very modern with a really nice rooftop pool. Location was great, opposite the shopping mall, restaurants in walking distance and not far from the old town. Breakfast buffet had everything you could possibly want and eggs were cooked fresh to order.

Cons: Bathroom layout is very odd. Not suitable for friends sharing as there’s no dividing wall between the bedroom and bathroom. Certainly no privacy!

Pros: Breakfast was amazing! Pool was great! Loved the relaxing nook in the room. Staff was first rate.

Pros: The staff were generally friendly. If your looking for a hotel next to a big shopping mall this is the place for you. The breakfast was good.

Cons: We booked a king size room and they tried to put us in a room with two twin beds. Not great when your celebrating your anniversary. After much negotiation they found us a room (~45 min). Once we were settled in the new room it was much better. The room was small and dark. There wasn’t a fan in the washroom. It also needed a good deep cleaning but was clean on the surface.

Pros: Everything! Wonderful hotel, staff, facilities and breakfast. I fully intend to stay again!

Pros: The architecture, antiques, artifacts beautiful gardens and serene solitude. Great pool and close enough to walking street. Loved all the old wooden doors to your room and bathroom too.

Pros: Loved the hotel's landscaping and the deign of the facility. I've never seen a landscaping crew work as hard, and their efforts showed. Liked the pool a lot as well.

Cons: The staff's professionalism can really be improved. They weren't rude but They need to work on the little things. My wife asked the front desk for a list of the costs associated with the hotel's laundry service. The guy at the front desk says "it's found in the closet near the tv" (which it wasn't). This is supposed to be a five star hotel. Other places would apologize and quickly go find a list for their guests, instead of fault the blame on their guests. Additionally, there is no hair conditioner in the hotel's bathroom. I understand that some may not require this, but I'd be willing to bet a good portion of the hotel's guests do. You have to personally request conditioner from the hotel's maid service. Weird. And finally, their drink pool service has a lot to improve upon. I had to go to the hotel's other bar on the other side of the hotel to get drinks by the pool. On the last day of my stay, the hotel staff told me I could call that bar and they would deliver drinks over to the pool, but when I called, no one answered.

Pros: Everything. Fine design facilities and a sea of calm in the center of Chiang Mai. Marvelous hotel. Very nice food at the restaurant with reasonable prices. No kids policy.

Cons: WiFi was a disaster. No fitness center.

Cons: Rooms are a bit dark.air con blows in your face at night.this type of air on system is very outdated.

Pros: I like it is so quiet and low key luxury in this hotel. The garden is elegant and very neat.

Cons: The breakfast is more westernized than I thought, not many tasty Thai options available. The room price is much higher than most hotels in ChiangMai.

Pros: The property is magnificent, peaceful. A wonderful outdoor library to chill with a glass and a book. The staff is adorable and the food excellent. One of the best places done so far. Congrats!

Cons: Our driver took us for 2 days. He was really nice but not sure he had « guiding » experience as we did not get explanations or felt we stopped in very touristy shops. It would have been nice if I compare to previous travel experiences :) but again, really nice person.

Pros: Relaxing atmosphere. Chill out time. Pool was lovely and warm. Food could not be better. Staff were outstanding.

Cons: Found the ongoing renovations were rather noisy at times close to the pool. The angle grinder and hammering were rather off putting. You had to pick your times at the pool for this reason.

Pros: Fabulously peaceful hotel right in the centre of town. Beautifully fitted out, helpful staff, lovely pool and gorgeous grounds. Child-free policy a huge benefit. Would definitely stay again.

Cons: Rooms are a little dark, with small windows and wide balconies; would be nice if the bar stayed open a little later, and breakfast finished a little later.

Pros: Such kind helpful people in a quiet yet very convenient location. Great breakfast .

Pros: Spacious room with amazing window view, big, clean swimming pool with sunbeds and bar, and the sauna - good for relax after long day working in Chiang Mai. Also nice breakfast, attentive and polite staff. Also hotel is really welcoming customers: I received nice welcome drink, and later, before sleep, have found on my bed fresh rose and a whole big pack of local souvenirs: cookies, chocolates and so on. This is a small thing, but it really enhances impression from stay and gives that little feeling of luxury, which makes the stay perfect.

Cons: I would recommend to install "movable" shower in the bathroom, because right now it only has shower which is installed on the wall and not movable, it is not very convenient. Also I have some questions to the lighing in the room: even if you turn on everything it still fells dark, reading in the evening is almost impossible. However, this things are very small and overall stay at Empress Hotel is still an amazing experience and I would definitely return again, whenever I have possibility to do so.

Pros: The attention given to customers was excellent would recommend staying there.

Pros: The staff are amazing, having travelled extensively and stayed in some amazing 5 star hotels, this one sets the standard for service , it was amazing, loved it and we will be going back again next year and staying here for a full month.

Cons: Nothing to complain about. A little irritating was the constant whistling of the traffic man at the foyer of the hotel. The shrill whistle is never ending and if your in one of the higher rooms, especially with the windows open it can be distracting if your having a snooze.

Cons: The only downside is the very standard breakfast buffet offering. More exciting local food options would be better.

Cons: The pool area is small and not particularly attractive. In the pool bar, half a liter sparkling water has been invoiced more than 250 baht, which i find really expensive.

Cons: The shower was a bit funky. It was a huge step up to get into the shower. For some reason the shower is separated by the rest of the room by glass walls, making it viewable from any point in the room. Even more oddly, the privacy for the shower is a set of horizontal blinds located on the outside of the shower. Meaning, someone in the room can walk up and open the blinds and see you using the shower or bathroom. Not that this would happen, but I find that to be very odd, and I've never seen that in my entire life.

Pros: Excellent place: near temples, cafes and restos; walking distance or free shuttle to the night market; clean pool to cool down on a humid and hot day; spacious, clean and well-stocked room; highly professional staff; and wide variety of breakfast items. We found our home in Chiang Mai.

Pros: SERVICE : 7/10 the people in reception (especially) were all friendly and helpful but those int he dining room and breakfast area didn’t give the feeling that they really cared for the customer, as we’ve experienced in other hotels on this trip to both Thailand and Cambodia, more perfunctory. HOUSEKEEPING : 7/10 Little to say here as the room was cleaned to our satisfaction each day, though maybe not promptly if, like us, you prevented them cleaning before we went out but then a couple of times returned after a few hours to find the room still not cleaned despite hanging the 'green' tag on the door. ROOM (what we liked) : 7/10 Spacious enough. It has dark flooring and decor which do make the room feel dark despite light coloured walls. The room doesn’t have any sort of ‘exclusive’ feel to it though. Just another ‘nice’ hotel room though not exceptional in any way. Nice balcony. Lots of electric sockets too, big thumbs up. BATHROOM 7/10 is spacious enough too however it feels as though 50% of that goes to a huge tub which looks good but obviously nowadays most people don't use it. FRIDGE was good = very cold and very spacious for stocking up your own drinks from the supermarket located just 20m away from the entrance to the hotel. BED: 7/10 We both found the bed comfortable and slept well on it though I felt I was sliding off the side (mattress issue)? CLEANLINESS (hotel common areas) : Excellent. 9/10 BREAKFAST : 8/10 Very good without being exceptional for Asian hotels of this standard. REAL fruit juices. A small choice of cereals (3 or 4) included muesli and the milk was kept cold next to them. Fresh fruit every day (the kitchen staff were great and prepared mango for me when there wasn't any on display). The coffee is standard hotel coffee, you know what I mean, and the tea just passable. Both standing in glass pots, not freshly made.

Cons: SHOWER 6/10 was adequate as was the power stream but the whole shower area, bathroom in fact, clearly showing it’s age with discoloured grouting (see photo attached) and one old-fashioned shower head, with just one setting, positioned at around 2m high, making it difficult to adjust for anyone not able to stretch that high. I did like the shampoo/bath gel dispensers on the wall - reduces waste and packaging. TOILET 6/10 lacks a modern ‘hydraulic’ lid closing system so if you forget (in the night when taking a pee whilst still half asleep) then it clatters down and wakes up your partner ! ROOM (what we didn't like) : We were disappointed in that the room felt a little plain by Thai hotels of this standard. It is also quite dark. TV was OK. Had a few Euro - American TV channels. WIFI : 6/10. Speed and signal just about adequate but could never be considered fast. I often used the SIM card I’d bought for 79 baht that gives unlimited internet access for a week and is better. Hotel Car : Uncompetitive pricing. We ordered a taxi to the airport for 250 baht (50 of which was the agency fee) from a travel agents just 50m away to the left outside the entrance to the hotel and paid 200 baht from the airport to the hotel. OVERALL : 7/10 Hotel is in need of a refurbishment of at the very least the bathrooms and personally I’d prefer brighter bedrooms too and also upgrade the common areas. The reception especially didn’t come anywhere close to feeling anything like a 4 star hotel (never mind 5 star). Common areas nice but felt tired and without being exceptional. We didn’t feel the hotel was value for money, 100m in either direction were another two hotels at the asme price level or cheaper, but that on walk-in inspection (so of course we didn’t experience the service/food/amenities) looked far better value for money offering at least the same level of amenities and higher quality rooms and looked far newer.

Pros: We were amazed at how lovely this hotel was. Everything was outside with covered walkways. A perfect place to stay in Chiang Mai. This hotel also has an amazing pool that is open until 10pm every night, perfect for cooling down after a day exploring the beautiful city. The staff were polite and helpful at all times and we had a fantastic stay here. The room was very big and exceeded our expectations.

Cons: The room itself was a little dark and could have done with a few more lamps. The shower took a while to heat up. Apart from this, everything was perfect.

Cons: Check out - if room needs to be checked during checkout need to know in advance. We were in hurry for airport and 15 min checkout is far too long. Need to know in advance room needs to be checked. And really automated checkout should be the way to go
