Not budget friendlyPros:Clean car, quick drop-off, car in good conditionCons:Just before pickup, I checked the Budget website and saw that the price had dropped on the economy car class. At the counter, I asked the staffer if he could give me the current price, which was $7/day less than when I made the reservation. He said I would need to step out of line, go online and cancel my existing reservation, and then make a new one. That is ridiculous. Also he then tried to outsell me to a midsize car for more money by saying it was not only larger but also had cruise control(so did the economy car).Reviewed 2 Apr 2016

Cons:The final cost was not the confirmed price of the reservation. Counter person attitude was not one would except for customer service. The person did not go over the details of added items and did not want to say why charges were different. It would be nice if someone went over the car with you instead of pointing out were in the lot its located. Finally, it bothers me that there is an hourly charge for each hour not returned on the exact time of pickup. I was charged $21 dollars for forty minutes of being so-called late in return even though the return time was printed on the paper work which turned out was the time I thought I would have had the car back.Reviewed 9 Jun 2016

Exactly what we neededPros:The vehicle provided plenty of space for my visiting daughter and family of 4 plus my husband and me. It was easy to pick up and drop off after hours. It was clean and had no issues.Reviewed 18 Jul 2016

Cons:I think the problem was with Kayak and then Budget made it worse. I went online with kayak and put in to rent a car at St. Louis Airport and not just ST. Louis in general. (STL) All car rentals at STL are off site on a nearby road. Being an out of towner I did not know the address of the car rental. I just got on the shuttle at the airport as I always do in St. Louis and it dropped me off at Budget. I was halfway through my processing when the agent tells me that Kayak had the car at a Budget rental in a hotel on the other side of down and not the airport. I was annoyed but I needed the car so I asked if someone could take me there or would I have to take a cab. She told me that it was closed and they were not open on Sundays. I double checked and she was right. THEY ARE NEVER OPEN ON SUNDAYS so why would Kayak book a rental that would be impossible to pick up? Please tell me! Budget told me they would have to start a whole new reservation and I would have to pay $350 more which was just shy of double the price I had procured. I refused to be "robbed" like that and told them I would make other arrangements even if I had to pay that amount I would not pay Kayak or Budget. I quickly got a car with Enterprise who treated me wonderfully and I paid the same price that I was suppose to pay originally. Unfortunately, Enterprise was located 1/2 mile away on the same road and Budget made me carry all my luggage back to the airport to get the Enterprise Shuttle. Did I mention that they passed by the Enterprise Agency on the way back to the airport? Did I mention I was not a raving customer but a quiet but firm one? Did I mention that I was also a 66 year old woman traveling alone to teach a college course and had 4 pieces of very heavy luggage with books that I need for the course? I will mention that I will never rent from Budget or Avis who happens to own Budget.Reviewed 25 Jul 2016

The vehicle was fine, Budget’s service was terrible!Pros:Car was clean, late model, ran well, no issues with the vehicle.Cons:The employee morale at the St Louis Airport Budget is terrible! Not one “hello” or smiling face during the entire car rental experience - both renting and returning. Things started at the airport with the Budget shuttle driver yelling at an elderly customer who was having difficulty boarding the shuttle. When we arrived at the service counter(shared with Avis rental car), we were met with a long line, we have no issues waiting in line, but since the counter is shared with Avis rentals it was confusing to figure out which side to go...as it turned out, there’s only one line, but a simple sign or a door greeter would have been nice as many other customers were just as confused as we were. When we finally made it through the line and approached the service counter, I was checked in by a “Manager” who already looked annoyed, he mumbled every word he spoke and got visabily angry with me as I kept asking him to repeat himself. He didn’t have a speech impediment, I just couldn’t hear him speaking to me over the other customers and representatives. He whispered something to the representative sitting next to him while he could not find my reservation, at one point he handed me back my Govt. CC and ID and told me someone else whould finish helping me as he was going to take his break. I finally got the rental vehicle which ended being $110 more than the quoted price, I called the 1-800 number to try to figure out the price difference but gave up after being transferred several times, I had already taken possession of the vehicle, so I had my doubts they would be able to do anything about the price anyway. On return of the vehicle, we were once again met with a confusing experience, there was a rental return sign pointing to several lanes already full of returned vehicles, I had to weave my way through several lanes until I thought I found the right space, I stepped out of the vehicle and waited for an attendant to check the vehicle back in. After not being acknowledged for several minutes, I walked across the lot to ask another attendant what to do, he suggested that I just leave the vehicle and I would get my receipt emailed to me. I’m familiar with the car rental process at airports, I travel frequently for both work and pleasure. I’ve never had such a poor rental experience previously. This appears to be an employee morale problem much larger than a few disgruntled workers.Reviewed 15 May 2018
