When I arrived to pick up my reserved car I was told it was canceled and wascalled and left voice message. But I didn't get any voice messages or any cancelation emails. Because of this all my plans changed, I had to pay almost double price to rent car from different place.Reviewed 15 Mar 2023

Requested pick up at STL airport @5:00 PM. Kayak made the reservation at an "off site" Hertz location (not at airport)... that closed at 5PM. There was no "heads up" that the reservation was at a different location than I requested... you would have had to look up the address. When I took the Hertz shuttle to the airport rental office, I was told that the airport lot was out of cars and that the offsite location was closed until the following morning. I was stuck in the airport with no car! Since I was meeting customers and staying out of town.... this was a major issue! Kayak should have highlighted that the rental location they selected was different than I requested... and NEVER should have booked the pick up at the time the office closed!Reviewed 3 Mar 2023

Got into airport at Midnight, only to find out all the rental places close at 8. Why couldn’t my email mention that. Because my email stated my arrival time. Luckily Hertz gave me a full refund.Reviewed 3 Dec 2022

It was really easy to get to the Hertz off-airport site via rideshare. The office was easy to find and the price I paid to be able to pick up and drop off at different airports was outstanding! The turn in experience was horrible. The store closed a few minutes early and then when we called hertz they said we couldn’t control when the store closes and when I asked if I could drop off at a different location they told me it would be $500 and if I turned it into the store it would be $300…because they closed early !?!?!? If this is not resolved I will never rent from hertz again. Probably the worst possible customer service from any car company ever.Reviewed 9 Oct 2022

I was expecting my car to be at the airport because that's what I put in the search criteria. When I got there they informed me the Hertz location was actually 20+ miles away so I had to spend an additional $100 in cab fares. The airport Hertz said I could tell them I wanted to return the car at the airport and that they would reimburse my cab expenses. When I got to the other Hertz location I was told I had to return it there and they couldn't adjust my bill because it was pre-paid. The Hertz guy said the car had 5/8th of a tank of gas (which it did) and to return it with the same amount of gas. I was returning the car with 3/4th tank of gas until I got out the rental contract from the glove compartment to put it and keys in drop box (location was closed on Sunday) and I noticed that they indicated it was full when I got it. Rather than have them charge me $9.99/gallon I went ahead and spent another $15 to fill it up. I wrote a note on the paperwork saying I would dispute the rental charge with my credit card company if they don't refund me $15 to my MasterCard.Reviewed 3 Oct 2022

Everything was perfect until I got phone calls saying I was overdue on returning my rental. I had dropped the car off in a local lot and put the key in the drop box prior to the due time on Monday, 9/5/22, the phone calls started on Wednesday. Still no emailed receipt from Hertz. Will never rent from them again. Saw online this has happened hundreds of times. Kayak should reconsider partnering with Hertz.Reviewed 8 Sep 2022
