Cons: The way in which the hotel is new and cutting edge feels like it was put together very quickly, and in a few years time won't be that nice. Showers seem to leak water all over the bathroom.
Service at the restaurant/bar on the rooftop is mediocre.

Cons: The rooftop restaurant is terrible! The view is incredible. The food there is as bad as it gets. Take in the view during the free breakfast; the meals they serve there at all other times is not worth paying for (it is disgusting, masquerading as "haute cuisine"
The spa is nice but lacks any written guidelines to ensure guest tranquility. Letting children use the spa and having no rules relating to that can ruin the experience for other guests. Kids shouldn't be in the hot tub/heated pool area unsupervised. Nor should they be learning how to swim or doing water tricks. It's supposed to be peaceful. Children shouldn't ruin experience for other guests. We couldn't use sauna or steam room because it was overrun with young kids. I have no problem with children but the lack of any rules or restrictions as it pertains to the spa is really problematic at Electra Metropolis. as a result my enjoyment of facilities was extremely limited.

Pros: Due to extensive flight delays we missed the first night of our reservation at St. George and did not arrive in Athens until 6AM. However, we forgot all about our troubles almost immediately after checking into this superb hotel.
1. Without even telling us they upgraded our room to the front side of the hotel which had absolutely incredible views of the Acropolis from our balcony. While it wasn't a large room (they never are in Europe!), it was clean, the bed was great, and the bathroom was perfectly OK.
2. Despite our exhaustion, we dragged ourselves out of bed just in time to catch breakfast. Went up to the 6th floor and was blown away by the 360 views of Athens. We asked if we could just grab a plate of food from the buffet (delicious selection) and take it back down to our room. Not only did they say yes, but they had someone carry our food down to the room ON A SILVER PLATTER. No jokes. Also, without even asking for it they sent with a hot carafe of coffee with STEAMED MILK.
3. On the last leg of our trip, coming back from an island, we had 12 hours to kill in Athens before heading to the airport. Despite no longer being guests for over 7 days they graciously stored our bags and let us hang out at the roof pool until we had to leave. WHAT.
4. Oh, and the pool is like a dream. Gorgeous pool with gorgeous Athens view with lounge chairs and great music. Happy hour is from 7-9 offering 6 euro cocktails.
The neighborhood this hotel is in is really great and completely safe as it is where all the embassies are located. Since it's on a hill be prepared to climb! It is worth it as there are very charming buildings, great cafes, shops, and restaurants. You can be in Kolonaki (walking) in 15-20 minutes. There is a metro stop 7 blocks away that goes directly to the airport.
WHY WOULD YOU STAY ANYWHERE ELSE? I know I won't be....

Cons: The spa wasn't open for all of my four day stay except for one day. The one day they were open they only had massage capabilities available (ie no facials or nail treatments etc) so I went ahead and booked a massage with the only therapist available. I found the male massage therapist to be a bit unprofessional and the massage was oddly touchy. For example it seemed like he was trying to rub his body on the sides of mine while giving my massage.

The power in the hotel failed in the middle of the night & we had no AC, emergency lighting came on, which is what we woke to at 3am. The house phone was ignored when I attempted to call the front desk to clarify the situation. I called from my mobile & was told 'this happens all the time'. An appalling 'hotel'.

Cons: 1. We chose this hotel ONLY because the Kayak info said a "hotel shuttle" is available. We wanted to be close to the airport to fly out the next morning. We thought we would save the expense of a taxi to and from the airport. There was no shuttle. When we call the hotel, they told us no such thing as a shuttle. They would only arrange to send me a taxi @ €45.00. And this could only be arranged via email...not over the ph. We simply took a cab to the hotel # €43.00. To the airport the next morning...no shuttle. We took a taxi @ €44.00. If you people do no have a shuttle like we are use to in the US...do not mislead innocent pepole like us. That is false advertising. The availability of a shuttle in the ONLY reason why we picked this hotel.
2. At the front desk I changed out some US$ for € after checking in. We plan to do some last minute shopping before we fly out the next day. What we did not know was that, that very day was a national holiday (the Verging Mary Holiday ) all the stores were closed. On checking out the next morning they would not take back the € currency. I told them that we did not know that there was a holiday. They said they can't take it back. That was just not right. These 2 things has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I am not a happy camper...especially with the shuttle issue. That was flat out wrong. You can't say that there is a shuttle when there is none. People from the US is use to taking a free shuttle ride to and from the airport to hotels and rent a car locstions.

Cons: I ordered the Athenaeum Grand Hotel, but they gave me their next hotel, the Athenaeum SMART Hotel. His level seemed lower to me and room was smaller than the pictures on the Internet. Breakfast was great, but dinner was not very attractive for a 4 star hotel. We'd better enjoy it in a Greek tavern.

Pros: The rooms were very clean, modern and very comfortable. The rooms also had a kitchenette if anyone wanted to use it. However, I personally didn’t use it. The metro was only a short 5-10minutes from the hotel which is really handy and we were on the right line for most of the attractions. There is a supermarket near the metro and 2 corner shops near the hotel which is good.

Cons: Nothing. Basically the holel has low quality of mattress and pillows. They do not provide complimentary beverages of any kind. The location is on a busy street and is surrounded by narrow streets and apartments. The hallways are dark and lights are too dim to see the door number or the side of key to put into the electronic lock. I am not sure it is a 4-star hotel.

Cons: The room is much smaller than the pictures and is a little bit strange in its set up - for instance there is no description on the website stating that the panoramic room does not have a king bed as pictured. They are two twin beds pushed together.

Cons: The beds are rock hard, and the staff can be a bit grouchy. While the staff who work mornings at breakfast seem quite helpful and attentive, the bar staff seemed annoyed that we were there. Key cards failed a couple times during a week-long stay, so I had to bring mine to the front desk twice to have it reprogrammed. Others seemed to have this issue too.

Pros: Decently large rooms by European standards, nice view from the rooftop pool. Decent price, and comfortable bed.
Cons: Pool hours are very limited, I figured I could go for a swim after being out for the day only to be told the pool closes around 1830. Presumably, they don't want to sacrifice the bar ambiance around the pool by people actually using the pool. And it didn't reopen until 9am in the morning, too late to be useful before needing to run out for the day. Typical terrible Greek hours. Very disappointed that the pool, one of the main reasons I booked the hotel, was 100% useless. You should consider it for show only.
The hotel isn't in a bad area (by comparison to the rest of Athens), but the walk to the metro is not the most enjoyable and I kept an eye out for unsavory people. I was surprised to find a Novotel in such a residential area - nothing close by that you'd want to walk to (except the metro to head to a more interesting area). The view from the roof could be Lebanon or the Gaza Strip if you didn't see the Acropolis way off in the distance.

Pros: The staff were lovely. The terrace at the top is absolutely beautiful! Really nice inside. The gyros were outstanding in the restaurant. The people were lovely.

Cons: It could have been a little closer to all the sites, or closer to the metro station. Next time we will probably stay in a hotel near the heart of Athens, so we wont have to use the subway as much.

There is no kettle in the room, so I organised for a kettle and tea coffee provisions for an extra euro 3, which is a bit steep, considering you use 2 sachets of coffee and milk but its worth the price if you want to have that early morning or late night cup of tea or hot water.

Cons: Location of the hotel isn't great, it's in run down neighbourhood and you do feel like you need to be looking over your shoulder. Attention to detail with cleaning is needed around the taps, under the bed and sink and around buffet for breakfast

Cons: The neighborhood wasn’t so good and made me feel unsafe. There was fruit and antique markets. A lot of beggars around, but when I checked out in the middle of the night I thought the road till the metro station is unsafe but it was safe. The hotel is old, and the facilities are old. There were a smell out of the bathroom but when you open the shower it’s gone.

Cons: Though the location was great in being a 8 minute walk from the railway station, I was taken aback at the locality. The night we arrived, it was raining and the walk to the hotel and the lane it was situated in made me apprehensive. There was hardly any lighting outside, and the streets were full of graffiti, which I found later on was quite rampant in this part of Athens. Once I entered though it felt safe. If you approach the lately daytime there are hawkers and vendors set up just outside and it feels more lively though very noisy. Sleeping at night was difficult as I had a road facing room.

Pros: The idea of the hotel should have been very good at the beginning when it was built - the entrance, the reception area and the lobby are very nice, there's a comfy sitting area and even a fountain. The rooms are equipped with everything that a 4-star hotel should have - a tea/coffee set, a minibar, all toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, etc. There're 3 extra pillows and 2 blankets. The beds are very convenient. The heating in the bathroom is good. There's really a hydromassage shower as stated in the description. But...everything requires maintenance. Urgently!

Cons: 1. Breakfast was so poor! There were no boiled eggs even, no porrige, no nuts. The vegetable corner was limited with several pieces of tomato, cucumber, olives and feta cheese - all enough for one person to make a salad, but not for a whole hotel. It is definitely not worth paying for. In 2-star hotels breakfasts are better. 2. Very very old appliances in the room - the electric kettle was broken, it had a crack along the side and the lead was not attached, it was falling down so that one can get burnt when pouring hot water. The hydromassage shower had a broken switch, in addition the hydromassage is aimed for a person not less than 180 cm high (for a shorter one the upper streams will be directed right into the eyes). The furniture is very old and needs maintenance. 3. The cleaning is very strange. There were just a few rooms, but the maid was absent somewhere when we were at breakfast, and thereafter when we left the hotel, but when after 2 p.m. we returned, she appeared to clean, so that we had to leave the room again. As a result we returned and found our dirty cups in the corridor near the window. She has just forgotten about them!
