Pros:The carCons:That the price given by Kayak was actually the final price. Which was fairly close, around 5 or 6% different. But fair enough.Reviewed 17 Feb 2021

Not very much regarding customer service, but when using a kiosk...Pros:You do need some when the kiosk is running very slowly, especially when the terminal asked questions the rental agents never do because they pick up on the "I don't want more than just a rental car" vibe. Still the reservation was easily found, the rental process, slow, was easy, and the return was fine.Cons:Choosing the For Escape was a considerable mistake on my part. Alamo allowing for the MyActive system to be enabled in a rental vehicle is idiotic. For those that do not know, MyActive does a lot of driver safety/responsibility things like mute sound system if the seatbelt is not fastened, limits the volume of the sound system during normal operation, and sets an electronic governor (a max speed limit) on the driver. When you're not aware of this technology and you get confronted by it on a long highway based road trip it can be frustrating to understand what's going on. Silly me, I listen to guitar rock and Zeppelin at a "reasonable volume" is silly. Also when an 18wheeler is barreling down upon you and the message pops up "Max speed reached" it can cause a lesser driver to panic. In short, DON'T RENT A FORD ESCAPE... btw, it's 2 days later and my butt's still sore from the seatReviewed 25 Apr 2017

Pros:Nothing.Cons:The rental agent was entirely off. He intended to block my credit card because I was not aware of the 300 security deposit. When I called the 1-800 number, I was informed that the security deposit would be 200, but at the counter office, it was different. Initially, I had reserved the car for two days; I let the agent know that I was only aware of the 200 security deposit because I made sure I had prepared we'll before planning on renting a car. I even asked him to show me where it says it's 300 on the website, but he couldn't. My total for the two days was 575, including the security deposit. My card didn't go through. I let him know it won't go through and that he should just rent out for a day, then he took my credit card. He swiped it four times and said it was still declining. At that point, I wanted just not to rent any further. But I said, let me call my bank to see what's happening, my banker informed me that the agent swiped my card for 575 instead of 436(for one-day rental). I went to meet the agent; he then asked me: did you top up your credit card, and is it cleared from blocks? Was that his intention when he was swiping my card severally and unnecessary. I told him exactly what the banker said, and he wasn’t embarrassed about it either. He kept on typing, and I asked, you’re just renting me a car; you’ve already imputed my personal information. What else are you typing? Why are you delaying my precious time? And so I also noticed the manager stepping out, and so did the agent probably talk about me, but that’s not my concern, I wasn’t in alamo because of those entities, and I did not care about how they rated me. I just needed to rent a car and go on my road trip vacation and return it in safe hands as I got it. My entire experience could have been much better. It is my first-time horrible experience at the alamo. And then, the car was dirty. Bear in mind we’re in a pandemic situation. What happened to protect customers? Truly a horrible experience.Reviewed 27 Dec 2020

Can i charge Alamo for ***MY**** time cleaning thiPros:I liked the vehicle (Ford Excursion) and the fuel mileage.Cons:I set the rental up about a week in advance. I called 1 time prior to pickup to make sure the rental was available. However, when I got there, no vehicle was ready. The vehicle I did get had some sort of white stain/drip/splash etc across the second row of seats and on the floor. The attendant explained that it wasn't "dirty" rather just some splashed paint. He assured me it was all clean. Due to the now late time (since they had to find a vehicle for me) I agreed and had him note it on my rental. When preparing the vehicle for my passengers, I discovered more spills. Something oily / greasy on both the second row of seats and a lot in the 3rd row. So, I took approximately 1 hour and cleaned the inside of the vehicle. the white spill wiped off easily, telling me that the vehicle had NOT been cleaned at all. the other spills appeared to be some sort of food residue and I also cleaned that up. Once I had invested my own time in this vehicle, it was fit for the use I had intended. Prior to my effort, I wouldn't have allowed my children to sit in it. I will not allow that to happen again.Reviewed 15 Aug 2016
