Pros: It was very easy picking up and dropping off the car. The car was in good condition and clean.Cons: I feel like I got tricked into purchasing insurance twice. Since I purchased my rental through Kayak, I opted to buy their insurance since it was fairly priced. When I was picking up my car, the attendant asked for my CC and I thought it was to run it for the rest of the rental payment. Instead I was asked about basic, full, or premium insurance, in which I said I had the basic and was charged an additional $77. I didn't realize at the time that this was a separate item... I'm hoping to get a refund but wanted to make people aware of this so they don't fall for it too.

Pros: Staff fine, Staff helped with the issue, car performed very nice.Cons: First car was stickered as cleaned, but smelled like a lit cigarette, there was even ash on the center console. terrible. 2nd car - performance was fine, also stickered as cleaned but the door had mud on the top, dust most everywhere and the inside windshield was dirty

Pros: I wanted to change my drop off time I called Thrifty who told me I needed to go through priceline. I called priceline who told me it was thrifty. I could do it at pick up. When I picked up he said no it's all priceline!

Pros: The staff at mid-night was mediocre at best. He tried to give us a 'toy', a Chevy Trax. I ordered up a mid-size, not a little piece of junk. It took some convincing to get a mid-size SUV. His lack of customer service skills were telling. He was not impressive.Cons: When ordering a car, it needs to be more specific. There's no way, and I mean no way, I'm ever reserving a Chevy Trax. There is no way I will ever walk into a Thrifty, or reserve online with Kayak without exactly knowing what I'm getting. Your reservation process which includes the language 'or equivalent' is a joke and needs to be better managed. At this point it is likely I will bypass Kayak and go direct to car rental websites.

Pros: The drop off was simple and the customer service when dropping off was outstanding! They offered to drop us off at the airport in the rental car rather than unload the baggage with the 2 kids and hop on the shuttle, which made it EXTREMELY easy on our end and VERY convenient.Cons: The first impression and the "customer service" when checking in to pick up the vehicle was below sub-par (to the point where I almost went to another car-rental company). The representative was not very friendly, very monotone, and didn't want to help us at all. After reserving online a few weeks prior to pick up, I called Dollar customer service phone number to verify/add a child car seat, at which point the rep advised that being a AAA member, the child car seat would be FREE, just present the card at check in. Well, that wasn't the case at check in. It wasn't ADDED to the online reservation, so it would not be free. I explained to the check in rep the conversation I had with their company and he was in disbelief and kept saying it's not free. Did not offer to help what-so-ever and kept advising that it WON'T be free. Pretty much, if it's not on the reservation, it's not going to happen. He didn't offer the phone number to call or a manager to help out, so I had to find the customer service # to call to ADD to the reservation. 25 minutes later on the phone, ALL day travel from West Coast to East coast, and 2 crying/hungry toddler/infant, since the AAA membership is under my wife's name but the reservation is under my name, we'll have to pay for the car seat (or add my wife for $16.99/day, when car seat is $13.99/day). None of which was told to me by the customer service rep on the phone WEEKS prior to pick up. I proceeded to rent the car without the car seat and my wife was looking for the closest Target so we can buy a booster, rather than pay $100+ to RENT. The rep then proceeded to tell me I can't rent the car without the car seat!!! WHAT?!?!? Mind you, my wife and I were discussing in front of him that it would be better to go purchase a booster at Target rather than pay the Dollar rental company $100 to rent, so he knew and heard what we were proceeding to do. He said we needed the car seat to rent. I told him to mind his business and I would never put my children in danger like that. I advised I would buy a car seat at Target and then come pick up my family. (bought a booster for $42 and free check-in on flight home). He was STILL hesitant to rent the car to me! Definitely will not be renting at Dollar car rental again due to the first impression and the initial "customer service". Too many other companies to choose from that I know will be able to exceed this sub-par experience.

Pros: The car interior seemed very clean.Cons: My final bill was twice the amount I was quoted when booking via Kayak. I asked questions about this with the in-person Budget employee at the counter when picking up my vehicle, and I didn’t receive any acceptable justification. I was told the insurance I purchased on Kayak was invalid, and that I was required to purchase the insurance Budget offered. I was offered a more fuel efficient vehicle, different from the one I’d booked in advance. I asked if there was a price difference and was told no. Turns out, there was a price difference, and the new insurance I was “required” to have was listed as optional on the rental agreement receipt that was printed out and given to me at the counter. This cost me an additional $150. Perhaps this was all due to Budget’s deceptive business practices and dishonest employees and nothing bad by Kayak, but what could have been better was more transparency of information that might have not cost me an extra couple hundred dollars.

Pros: Fairly prompt shuttle pick-up.Cons: We were told there would be a 10 minute wait “for the car to be serviced”. Waited 15 minutes and the car was filthy inside and hadn’t been washed outside. It did have gas - I guess that was the”service”.

Pros: The ease with which its set up to pick up the car but with what appears to be a significant understaffing in both locations - it’s still takes the process longer than it should be.Cons: The price!. I made the reverse trek the week before with another company and found them to be far less expensive. After a 24 hour return flight, 2 hr drive home and a stomach bug on top of having to return to work the next day - I returned the car an hour past due and was charged an extra $40!

Also all the warning beepings (i.e. seatbelt) were the worst I’ve ever heard: loud and obnoxious. It was a long road trip-will make sure not to get a Camry next time. And this was an upgrade!

Pros: Friendly staff.Cons: The vehicle REEKED of cigarette smoke. It also made some sort of odd sound when accelerating or slowing down. Finally, when picking up, I waited five minutes in line, at 10pm, just for a counter person to arrive.

Cons: The car I was assigned was filthy inside and out. It didn’t look as if it had ever been cleaned, with stains old and new on the seats, and the door handles were all crusty. The windshield washer alarm was saying the fluid was low. I definitely expect a rental car to be clean and ‘topped off’.

Not your usual national rental.Pros: Car comfort was good with good features.Cons: Car was not thoughourily cleaned inside. Some misc wrappers,trash and someone's iPad case was left in my car rental. My biggest beaf with all national rental in Dulles is their car wash leave the car looking unclean. Either it uses way too much soap or the rinse doesn't work. must say this my first tainted experience with national.
