Clean, efficient, and personable! Alamo, National, and Enterprise are all in the same building. I rented from Alamo and no one was at the counter. A very helpful man, Dawit, from another counter immediately assisted me and was so nice. All the staff I encountered were personable, helpful, and professional. The car and facilities were extremely clean. Masks and social distancing were observed. My SUV ran well and had no problems. TY to all who helped me!

The staff was friendly at te pickup, pickup was very easy!The return! Their parking garage is next to another one, and their was not well marked. There was no number or address, so initially I went to the wrong. It ierally took 20 minutes to get back to the right now. Please put your address on your entrance!!!

did not work with Alamo staff at pick up. other persons desk. Told us to go to row 3 pick a car, do not come back. what? only 3 cars there and 3+ people looking for a car. Thought we were getting a Rav4 but ending with a VW GOlf (not impressed, need wheel work).Got what we thought we were paying for.

Nothing.The rental agent was entirely off. He intended to block my credit card because I was not aware of the 300 security deposit. When I called the 1-800 number, I was informed that the security deposit would be 200, but at the counter office, it was different. Initially, I had reserved the car for two days; I let the agent know that I was only aware of the 200 security deposit because I made sure I had prepared we'll before planning on renting a car. I even asked him to show me where it says it's 300 on the website, but he couldn't. My total for the two days was 575, including the security deposit. My card didn't go through. I let him know it won't go through and that he should just rent out for a day, then he took my credit card. He swiped it four times and said it was still declining. At that point, I wanted just not to rent any further. But I said, let me call my bank to see what's happening, my banker informed me that the agent swiped my card for 575 instead of 436(for one-day rental). I went to meet the agent; he then asked me: did you top up your credit card, and is it cleared from blocks? Was that his intention when he was swiping my card severally and unnecessary. I told him exactly what the banker said, and he wasn’t embarrassed about it either. He kept on typing, and I asked, you’re just renting me a car; you’ve already imputed my personal information. What else are you typing? Why are you delaying my precious time? And so I also noticed the manager stepping out, and so did the agent probably talk about me, but that’s not my concern, I wasn’t in alamo because of those entities, and I did not care about how they rated me. I just needed to rent a car and go on my road trip vacation and return it in safe hands as I got it. My entire experience could have been much better. It is my first-time horrible experience at the alamo. And then, the car was dirty. Bear in mind we’re in a pandemic situation. What happened to protect customers? Truly a horrible experience.

Got stuck in Washington D.C. because I didn't have a credit card. After serving 4 years overseas I didn't have a local cell service and my nearest family/friend was in North Carolina, my destination. Was a lot of fun for my family of 4 being stuck in an unfamiliar location after a 9 hour flight. The workers at the rental car place just gave me a blank stare when I asked them what I was supposed to do and were zero help. Glad I wasted $100 too. These companies need to do better.

We had requested a "small SUV" envisioning maybe a Hyundai Tucson or Kona or Honda Cr-V or Kia Sportage. Instead, we get a Hyundai Venue. Both my wife and I drive Hyundais (Santa Fe for me, my 3rd, and a Genesis for her, preceded by an Azera and Santa Fe), but this was ridiculously small. Only one of our suitcases fit in the back, the other two were piled onto the back seat along with our son. Cramped, indeed. Black interior, including a black dashboard, made for a miserably hot car in the July Virginia muggy heat.

The staff was not friendly or helpful. Dollar tried to charge me an extortionist flat rate for an E ZPass of around $30 per day. I prepaid the car and they charged me extra fees when I picked up the for which they didn’t reimburse at drop off. They also charged me two hours claiming I dropped the car off two hours late which amounted to almost a full day rental. I dropped off the car within the allotted time. No where in the contract can I find that this is standard policy. No other rental car has done this to me in the past and I’ve rented hundreds of rental cars in the past. The staff didn’t respond other than to say to take up with customer service or dispute the extra charges through my credit card company. On top of high rental fees, Dollar tried to nickel and dime me for a Ford Fiesta that wasn’t immaculate. I will not rent from Dollar in the future.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Drop off was super quick and easy. Email receipt made the whole drop off process very nice.Pickup took too long because I think there were a lot of customers who showed up all at once and there was not enough staff to handle them.

Budget removed the floor mats due to an earlier incident with the fleet. There was a hole in the drivers side carpet that was noted during pickup. The car ran great. Great gas mileage. The only issue was on the last day I was not able to get apple play through the USB port. The high beams would not stay on so I had to hold the leaver back manually to use the high beams on unlit low traffic roads during the night. Drop off at BWI was a bit confusing. I had to drop off the vehicle at 4:00 am. I called the help number provided in the rental agreement and there was little help. They just were not keen on the actual procedures for the airport I was dropping off to. There was no Budget office open at 4:00 am but there was a small sign telling me to drop off with Avis. That went really smoothly. I would rent from Budget again. The only real issue I had a problem with was the cost. Yet Budget offered to best price.

Staff was friendly and apologetic, and did attempt to remedy the situation by offering other vehicles that were available.I made a reservation several hours in advance, only to drive an hour to the pick up location and find there were not actually any vehicles (pick up truck) available. Unfortunately, I really needed that specific type of vehicle so I was forced to leave empty handed.

I think they charged way too much. Point in fact: I rented the car for 13 days with two drivers, but the second driver was only going to drive the car for five days and they charged us for the full 13 days.

The Thrifty experience was abysmal. The shuttle driver was rude. The store clerk was rude and slow. They gave me the wrong car twice. They overcharged me. They were rude at drop-off. Just a terrible all-around experience, and I have a pretty thick skin for this sort of thing...

Received a car with 57,259 miles which would not restart once I reached my hotel. I had to spend 2 hours and 18 minutes on the phone (3 calls) to Thrifty roadside assistance, on hold mostly. When Thrifty's AAA contractor showed up after 2 missed appointments it was 12:15 am. Car was not charging adequately so problem would repeat. Received permission to have car towed but I had to hire Uber to go back to Dulles for a new car. Attitude of all Thrifty personell was car was my problem. I have submitted request for cost of Uber, but doubt I will hear from Thrifty or see a credit. Worst rental car experience ever.

The price was outrageous, the car had too many miles, was roaring, smells, had cat or dog hair all over the place , gas was less than full when I was told needs to be returned full. really disappointing and I felt I was ripped off. Staff was good, pick up and drop off was smooth

Friendly staff.The vehicle REEKED of cigarette smoke. It also made some sort of odd sound when accelerating or slowing down. Finally, when picking up, I waited five minutes in line, at 10pm, just for a counter person to arrive.

How does it make sense that a credit card is better than a debit card? I did not have a credit card on me and had to book a flight on the spot just to be able to get my rental

We missed our connection in DC and were stranded with no flights to our destination. AVIS was a God-send. They went out of their way to find a car for my family of 4 so we could get to our destination...something United Airlines obviously didn't consider important!

Pick-up with an Avis Preferred reservation took 1 hour and 45 minutes. Cars were available. Only one counter agent working. A second agent abruptly left.Will never rent Avis at this location again. No excuse for a nearly 2 hour wait when they had cars available. Understaffed and antiquated computer system for rental agreements. Horrible customer service.

NothingThe van was a Chevy feel like a cargo van, not Ford Transit like the passenger van. Mechanically, it was not safe to drive; shaking badly when braking, wiper blades were bad and noisy, steering wheel was not centered like it needed an alignment.

The car I was assigned was filthy inside and out. It didn’t look as if it had ever been cleaned, with stains old and new on the seats, and the door handles were all crusty. The windshield washer alarm was saying the fluid was low. I definitely expect a rental car to be clean and ‘topped off’.

Not your usual national rental.Car comfort was good with good features.Car was not thoughourily cleaned inside. Some misc wrappers,trash and someone's iPad case was left in my car rental. My biggest beaf with all national rental in Dulles is their car wash leave the car looking unclean. Either it uses way too much soap or the rinse doesn't work. must say this my first tainted experience with national.

I am not booking from Kayak ever againIn my receipt i was specifically told i will not have to pay anything other than the amount i already paid however later i was charged 13+ extra $. I called their Customer care and they said these are some taxes.
