Overview of XiamenAir

Xiamen Airlines operates services out of its primary hub in the southwest corner of China. Additional hubs located in Fuzhou and Hangzhou assist the airline reach more than 10 countries across Asia, North America, Australia and Europe. The Philippines, Japan and South Korea are some of the countries with multiple destination options.

Owned by a combination of companies, the largest share of the airline is held by China Southern Airlines. Hebei Airlines functions as a domestic-focused subsidiary of Xiamen Airlines, while it also owns the majority of low-cost carrier Jiangxi Air. It is part of the SkyTeam alliance and has codeshare agreements in place with Philippine Airlines, Mandarin Airlines and Japan Airlines.

An all-Boeing fleet of aircraft is used. The 737-800 model is the most commonly flown, with the fuel-efficient twin jet ideal for short flights within Asia. Some of the fleet have gray SkyTeam paint jobs. If you are traveling on a long-haul service, you may fly on a specially designed United Nations 787-9 jet celebrating sustainable development goals.

Passengers flying with Xiamen Airlines can choose between Economy and Business Class. A water bottle and pair of socks are provided upon boarding in Economy, while Business Class customers have the luxury of reclining the seat to a flatbed. First Class is also available on selected aircraft, such as the Boeing 787-8, with cocooned seats that offer better privacy. Dining is also considerably upgraded in First Class as all meals are served on conventional plates. If you are flying on your birthday, make sure you mention it to the cabin staff as you’ll receive a special gift and wishes.
