The staff resolved these issues for us. This hotel is in a great location. It is very clean and comfortable. Book here if you are staying in Xi'an. Additional comment: If you are going to Xi'an to see the Terra Cotta Soldiers, plan to stay in Xi'an a day or two more. This is a great city with lots going on.

Pros: We visited this city to see the Terra Cotta Warriors. The hotel was located in a good and secure area close to shopping, restaurant and near the East Gate of the old town wall. Staff were nice and accommodating. Room was clean and well appointed. We did have a problem with no hot water and they moved us immediately with a room upgrade. Most staff speak some English, which is very appreciated. Didn't use the pool, but had dinner in the Italian restaurant. Good Chinese red wine we tried. Manager's drinks in the afternoon are a MUST!

Cons: Once night we returned from a local food tour and we were under the impression there was a bar upstairs. When we were met at the elevator, it was with, "there's a bar downstairs" however there were other patrons drinking there. After some conversation with one of the staff (in black) asking why we can't be here, she agreed and we sat down and they took our order. We felt very uncomfortable that we were not the type of clientele (white) they wanted in that room. We were happier at the bar downstairs with nicer staff.

Cons: Cons: - Didn’t like the upgrade approach first thing we entered the hotel (¥500+ per night per room for a connecting door...) - (this is minor but annoying) the toilet seat doesn’t fit the toilet bowl, so every time to sit on it, it will made a click sound and sunk your butt down an inch to the side... with all the toilets in the hotel), that sudden motion got me every time.

Cons: I was very disappointed as it is an international hotel and yet 99% of the staff could not speak English. I stayed in the Sofitel Legend in Hanoi and it was spectacular and that is why I chose this hotel, but it really did not live up to the level of service I got in Vietnam.

Cons: I made the mistake of not specifying a Non Smoking room and my whole floor smelled so smokey all the time. I had to keep the fan on in the small toilet room in my hotel room because the cigarette smoke from other room(s) was filtering into mine via the fan. This hotel is nothing fancy but it was safe, clean, and had a great location. The bell attendants were great at getting me a taxi when needed. As a solo female traveler it was good for my trip.

The location was excellent and central - it was about a 10 min walk to the Drum and Bell towers and the majority of our sight-seeing was done without needing to use the metro.

Cons: There was a dirty tissue in our room by the curtains on our arrival, though I threw this away without a fuss and the rest of the room appeared clean and tidy. There was also a distinct smell of smoke in our room the first evening of our stay which did dissipate by morning but was from an unknown origin given the room was non-smoking! The swimming pool was closed during our stay (although we were so busy seeing the sights this didn’t impact us much!).

Cons: We got there late at night, being the only ones at the front desk. There was a problem with the booking they could not find it. As they were trying to solve the problem, a big group of Chinese people arrived and the staff quickly focused on attending them proceeding with their check-in. I had to firmly ask them to solve our problem because we suddenly were ignored. It took us more than 30 minutes to get our room.

Cons: The beds were very firm for my standards, but I've found that to be common in China. Also, the air conditioning did not appear to cool as well as I had wished, however, I have also found this to be true in China, so I don't believe it was an issue with the hotel.

Cons: The staff were trying to be accommodating, but their limited English did not really work with me. They were also a bit shy to speak more than necessary. If they spoke better English and were more eager to communicate I would have taken their transport to the Terracotta Army, but in the end I was tired of speaking with hands and feet and force the answers about the tours, so googled alternatives and took bus 915 from the station myself. Although the hotel was fine, it had a flair of.... how to explain it, a bit of 'Soviet Union' style in it, and the design cannot be called modern.

Cons: The hotel did not really meet our expectations. The 7th floor is supposed to be non smoking but unfortunately our room, and the hotel in general, smelt badly of smoke. When we asked reception for a non smoking room they sent the house keeping staff to spray some air freshener in our room and did not offer to move us. The hotel was always cold and the AC in our room would cool but not heat. The area breakfast was served in was so cold that the food was cold when eaten. Unfortunately the hotel has seen better days and needs a general refresh and upgrade.

Pros: the hotel is a bit old and in need of renovation but the rooms are really clean even if a bit worn (especially the dodgy bath/shower switch. breakfast looked good but i skipped it (too much food on the trip as it was) and the restaurants in the area are good (behind the shopping center next door are a few coffee/breakfast places for light breakfasts). We had a view of the wall which was worth the noise in the evening (atmosphere) but if you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back instead and skip the view. the gym on the top floor is very basic (running machine weights etc) but it does reduce the after dinner guilt. Staff are very helpful even if English is not very well understood (be patient)

Pros: the hotel is a bit old and in need of renovation but the rooms are really clean even if a bit worn (especially the dodgy bath/shower switch. breakfast looked good but i skipped it (too much food on the trip as it was) and the restaurants in the area are good (behind the shopping center next door are a few coffee/breakfast places for light breakfasts). We had a view of the wall which was worth the noise in the evening (atmosphere) but if you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back instead and skip the view. the gym on the top floor is very basic (running machine weights etc) but it does reduce the after dinner guilt. Staff are very helpful even if English is not very well understood (be patient)
Cons: real chinese beds. nice comfy pillows and duvet (bed is big) but the springs sure are stiff. So if you want a soft bed maybe go to a more modern place - having said that after 2 nights i started to sleep really well.

Pros: Helpful staff, genuine kindness. View on the city wall is just great. Perfect location, close to the city wall, the subway.. A spa/massage service is available inside the hotel.

Pros: The location was just opposite the bell tower and from the reception area was expecting a nice room. Unfortunately we didn't get a room with a decent view, but it was clean. The staff were helpful and when we called with a couple of minor issues, there were no problems.

Cons: Smoking was allowed in most areas of the hotel which meant stinking hallways. They had the most disgusting breakfast room with filthy chairs and sticky tables, the only thing that saved it was the omelette made by the chef which was nice.

Cons: It's a shame that a hotel at this perfect location doesn't take care about their rooms. Whilst the entrance to the hotel looks still shiny the rooms are dark and completely broken. Breakfast I took only once - it is just miserable in a canteen style hall. I definitely recommend not to book this hotel, there are others not far away.

Cons: The breakfast was okay... but not great.
There wasn't much English spoken so it was hard to get information/advice about where to go (or to get a towel brought to my room. I tried 3 times and then ended up going down with a bath mat to act out what I needed!).
The showerhead was leaking over the edges so it was more like a bucket being poured than the 'rain water' as advertised - I didn't really mind but some people might.
