Xi'an hostels

Pros: Personnel was great, with good advices and a great common room to stay in. Good comfort in the room

Cons: Everything was great, maybe the place and room was a bit cold.

Pros: clean room, great location, helpful staff.

Cons: the offered organized tour with guide etc was quite pricey so i just went on my own and was happy with that. i wish the hostel advertised the option to go on your own with some directions. hot water wasn't really hot in the afternoon. morning/evening no problem though.

Pros: To objectively describe for others, the reception area is clean, spacious and peaceful. The beds were comfortable and the location is also good, but that's as good as it gets.

Cons: The rooms are cramped and get very very hot at night. They advertise air conditioning, but it doesn't work. They also advertise a kitchen, but this isn't available. The toilets were filthy and the showers dreadfully weak. There seems to be a lot of mosquitoes there as well, but maybe that's the time of the year. There are six floors, but with no elevator this may be awkward for some....just be aware. In addition to this, I arrived after traveling for a long long time and mislaid my room card. They charged me double the amount I paid for the room to replace it!! They just seemed to pull this figure out of nowhere. Now, I work in this area myself and I know these cards cost literally nothing, so to take advantage and screw their customers in this way exposes their mentality and I simply don't support places such as these anymore.

Pros: Very centrally located in a lively neighbourhood. The room is spacious and very clean. Great staff with English skills. Highly recommend.

Pros: The staff was very helpful and super nice. They even upgraded me to a better room. The room was superb for China standards, big lockers, kettle, private toilet, comfy mattress. They offer toiletries and hair dryer. The heating was OK. I had western breakfast there and it was OK. Not too expensive. The common areas are spacious. The location is great, in the heart of the Muslim district.

Cons: There is no elevator and it's a 5 floor building.

Pros: The staff is pleasant, speak good English. Rooms are very clean. The hotel is in a muslim quarter, 15 minutes away from drom tower and bell tower. There are a lot of restaurants and shop near the hotel.

Pros: Location was exciting in the heart of the old city. The staff was very helpful for me to find the the terracotta warriors and met some nice other travelers in the bar on the main floor. The room itself was very spacious and clean.

Pros: The staff was incredible helping out at any time. Got even picked up at the train station. Great coffee. Great place. Great staff!

Pros: Great place to stay in Xian. Location is the best ,near metro station ( 10 min. walk ) and eazy to walk to muslim street, wall and city center. The staff was very nice and helpfull. The atmosfere in hostel was very good, recommend.

Pros: Everything was good! All the day people were so Nice. The staff helps you with everything and arranges an activity every day. And not unimportant, breakfast was soo good

Pros: The old building was interesting

Cons: Wasn’t clean, renovated, they charged even for water or coffee at the breakfast even if you paid for breakfast included. Staff is not helpful at all and barely speaks English! I tried booking a taxi to the airport and they refuse to help unless you accept the only service they offer with a taxi company they operate (and take a commission of course for themselves) which costs more than double. I had to book it myself which is a huge struggle cause nobody speaks English in China! Also they promise security box, soap and many things in the room which they don’t have! NEVER AGAIN HERE!

Pros: The food was excellent and very good value. The hostel had the facilities we needed, such as a laundry. The buildings and surroundings are very characterful. The cafe/bar area is very nice and has a full size pool table.

Cons: It is a bit of a long walk from metro and railway stations. Some of the windows and doors are a little dilapidated, they could use either replacing or renovating with a fresh coat of paint or two. Although the compound itself is very secure, the room doors are not so secure, so I wouldn't leave anything valuable inside.

Cons: It was very cold at that season (November) and the whole house is laying in the shadow. The rooms were small and a little cold No daily cleaning. Restaurant very cold and expensive

Pros: I stayed here a total of three nights. Always welcoming! The manager is very informative and helpful with all your information you may need in your trip in Xi'an. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great hostel.

Pros: Most friendly and helpful receptionist ever, so lovely and great first impression of hostel. Really good breakfast. Close proximity to city center. The room was clean and quiet, with an excellent shower. Cozy room feels like at home. The bed was soooo soft. Best hostel in Xi'an. I'll definitely choose 7 Sages again.

Pros: Great location, really pleasant and clean rooms, but the thing that makes this such a good place to stay are the staff. All of the people are incredibly helpful and generous with their time and advice.

Pros: This hostel is simply amazing. The structure is a proper hutong with very nice arches that divide the areas where the rooms are located. There is also an area in front of the bar with tables where you can relax. The staff speaks very good English and this is not a small detail in China as well as the fact that you can pay with credit card. They organize also tours and they are very helpful If you want to visit on your own. The room itself hasn't something special a part of the movie posters behind the bed. Super recommended!

Pros: We arrived very late at night. Staff was very welcoming. We were hungry so they ordered us some traditional chinese take aways. With limited english and the help of a translator they went out of their way to help us. The room is a little bit old and run down but absolutely value for money. The bed was massive and had clean linen. The area and surroundings were not noisy at all and we had a good nights sleep. Highly recommend this hostel for budget travelers.

Cons: Toilet seat was broken.

Pros: Despite the fact that staff don't speak English, they are extremely kind and helpful.

Cons: Dormi in the cellar. No windows. Darkness. Smell of molt. Dampness. Pub next door - noice in the evening. Social room without doors - so smoke of cigarets is even in the room. No toalet paper provided.

Pros: This is our 2nd stay at the hostel in a week as we left mid week to go to Huashan overnight. We stayed in a private twin room the first time and it was fantastic. Unfortunately, not such a good experience in the dorm rooms. The shared bathroom facilities were fine, but the dorms themselves weren’t great. The staff were understanding when my boyfriend asked to switch rooms, but I’d recommend spending a bit extra and getting a private room instead of a dorm here.

Cons: My boyfriend was put into a 6 bed male dorm on the basement level. Once he went downstairs, he noticed there was a weird, damp smell to the corridor. The room also smelt that way and felt quite ‘wet’. He had hung up some clothes near his bed, and after a few hours, came back and realised they had turned damp from how moist it was in the room. He asked to change rooms and they moved him to a dorm on the top level which was much better. I was in a 4 bed female dorm on the top floor and the dorm itself was quite dirty. Because the tiles were white, it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in awhile as there was hair and rubbish everywhere. The window also didn’t have a curtain so everyone started waking up around 5:30-6am because the room would get really bright. The shared bathroom was right next to the dorm which was convenient, but also the smells of the toilet seemed to drift into the air vents in the room. I also noticed that the things I left on my bed would gather dust overnight as well, so maybe the room isn’t well ventilated.

Pros: Beds are comfy, good location.

Cons: I arrived at 2am and the receptionist asked me to fill a long, exhausting and unclear check in form. When I checked out I was asked to go down and bring my sheets from the bed. There was a hundred yuan deposit for some reason. They weren't speaking english and there was a lazy party-mood coming from the staff. The place is not clean. Planned to stay more but left after one night.

Pros: The staff were very helpful and friendly, I really felt welcomed. we were close to the Muslim quarter and loved eating there.
