Pros: When she found out we were celebrating 51 year anniversary she said there might be something special in your room later, when we returned there were two glasses and a bottle of champagne. The housekeeping staff always greeted us and did an 3xcellent job with special request concerning allergy to chemical fragrances I had no allergy issues Riley, the bat tender was entertaining. We felt welcomed and cared for throughout our stay. The property is historic and beautifully restored . Melissa did a historical tour of the property. She was passionate about the history and very informative.
Cons: The amount of light that came in the room at night. With the blinds closed and the Roman shades down the room was still light from the outside lights coming in around the edges

Pros: The view from the back porch is the key to this hotel! What an amazing view of the historic town's waterline. The rooms are decked out with quality furniture and fittings.

Pros: The location is excellent, the view is fantastic. This waterfront hotel is fantastic - walk across the bridge, you are in historic St. Pete. Walk the other direction, great restaurants. This hotel is a hidden gem that I have driven past many times without knowing its value. Highly recommended.
Cons: The rooms do not have mini-safes for customer use.

Pros: very good location foe seeing the sights. The price was reasonable.
Cons: Could not get to our room because of construction in the hall and rooms on both sides of our room. Power tools and lumber laying across the hall. Dust and dirt everywhere. We asked the woman at the desk when checking in to move us to a different part of the hotel. She said that she would be "happy to cancel our reservation and we could go somewhere else" I asked to speak to a manager and was told that was not possible, the head housekeeper did come out to say that the construction on the room next to us would end at 4PM that day, It did not. Reception, dinning room and bar was closed for renovations. A nearby room was turned into the breakfast room and a temporary reception area was placed in the back, and a portable bar was set up in the evening serving beer and wine. What kind of wine, we asked the server; Red and White. This type of customers service may just keep me from going to a Hilton in the future. Management just didn't care.

Pros: Close enough to historic st Augustine but pleasantly quiet. Far enough from beach to avoid summer beach prices but less than 10 minutes away from beach. The room was super clean and updated. Will definitely be returning.

Pros: Location, upper deck to view water; breakfast was satisfactory for the start of the day. Had some hot items and few people were eating when we were so it was quiet. Was able to get the room cool for sleeping.
Cons: our room was hidden near the stairs -- room was comfortable but it was dark and hard to get light into the room. Didn't spend much time there, however. Agree with others that the coffee could be better

Pros: Our stay at Tryp was great. We only stayed one night but it was one of the best hotels we have stayed at. From check in to check out our experience was very pleasant. The front desk staff was friendly and professional, rooms clean and spacious and the hotel itself is not too far from many of the local attractions. We will definitely stay here again when we are back in the area.
Cons: Next time I will try and book a room opposite to the road. I didn't really enjoy the car noises from the balcony and a loud motorbike going by in the moring. Aside from that my experience here was 9.5/10

Pros: It's a great place, very clean, easy proximity to everything even downtown given the size of St. Augustine, that's not even a ten minute cab ride with traffic. Hotel is quiet, not very updated but it's not that kind of town. Free coffee around the clock and always someone on staff to help. Overall about a 4.5/5.
Cons: Just needs to update a few immenities - gym is pretty sad, could really take advantage of the 4th floor balcony with like a happy hour or something

Pros: My girlfriend and I had a great weekend here. The hotel is beautiful, and the room is spacious. The jacuzzi tub in the room was the selling point for us, though. Comfortable and spacious.
Cons: The only thing I didn't like was the use of harsh, daylight/cool white light bulbs throughout the room, rather than the more comfortable tungsten/warm white I would expect from an otherwise couples-oriented vibe.

Pros: Each employee we encountered was cheerful, helpful and kind. From the front desk staff, the breakfast room and housekeeping, everyone was positive. As we were packing up the van to leave, our six year old was restless and upset and one of the housekeeping staff members reached out and gave us a box of tissue. It was such a kind gesture! Pros: The complimentary breakfast provided was very nice, even had fresh fruit!
Cons: The location was a bit out of the way. We like to walk everywhere so it was a bit of a walk to get to the "old town" section of St. Augustine, maybe a two mile walk?? If you don't like walking a taxi ride is inexpensive, about $8.00 one way from the hotel to the "old town", we chose this mode of transportation at night.

Pros: Plane was delayed by 7 hours. I get a phone call from the hotel offering a refund for my first night. They didn't have to call, but they did. No other service (car rental, etc) that I had reservations wouldn't give me a refund, let alone call to ask if I wanted one. Front desk folks were nice gentlemen. They respected all my requests and were cheerful to be around.

Pros: This is the 3rd time I have stayed at the Casa Monica. It is a great property in an excellent location. The hotel is getting a bit on the rundown side. Our sink faucet sprayed water all over the counter which was a little messy. But the charm and ambiance will make Casa Monica a hotel choice in the future. The hotel bar is very good and well staffed. The food there is great after a long day walking. The rooms are charming and the beds are very comfortable. We were on the 4th floor and the high ceiling and western view over the pool deck was very nice. Staff is first rate and the cleanliness is too notch. I know there are some renovations underway and I think some of the older features are being brought current. Just not a 5 star this time.

Pros: Great location, parking available
Cons: No safe, breakfast, fitness center or elevator. Very poor construction of the building. Doors were not sealed and the walls were thin. So being on the first floor you could hear people at the bars right behind the hotel clear as day until 2 am. And the phones in the room didn't work (which they didn't mention) so you couldn't complain. Rooms were very humid, so bathing suits & towels stayed damp. And the floors were so dirty they turned your feet black.

Pros: The waterfront view as well as the price. There is a trolley stop right out front and a delicious cafe in the corner.
Cons: There is a bar behind the hotel that bumps their music until 2:30am on a week night that makes the room vibrate and makes sleeping unattainable. Front desk said it would stop before midnight, but it did not. The street behind the hotel is filled with loud drunks because of the bar, and the bathroom window opens to the street. We will not stay here ever again because of this. The music was so loud we could sing along with it.

Pros: Perfect location on the bay and within walking to all historic areas. Staff was wonderful. Even though it is on a busy road, near bars and restaurants, it was very quiet and relaxing in the room. I would definitely stay here again.

Pros: The layout of the room is exactly like every other motel. But this is the only similarity the Jay Bird has with others. The entire motel has been renovated and it feels like it has been recent but I think they simply do a fantastic job at maintaining what they've done. The room was nicely tiled throughout with what looks like upscale tile and the decor or the wall which the beds sits at, helps make the room look very upscale. Just like something you'd find in New York or California. The bathroom is just as nicely renovated. A walk in shower the size of a tub with a "rain shower" type shower head placed nice and high for tall guests. I'm surprised they don't charge more than they do for these rooms. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this motel to anyone!
Cons: The younger staff referring to me and other guests as "Buddy", instead of "Sir". I thought this as very unprofessional and not fitting to the standard the rest of the motel.

Pros: Wow! What a great place I found and so last minute. This place is so cute and so clean! My boyfriend and I just wanted to get out of our town for a little get-a-way and this was the perfect spot for it! We are in our mid-to-late 20's and can appreciate a nice hotel and great service. Our room was perfect, nice and upgraded. I didn't show my boyfriend the hotel when I booked it, he was a little skeptical when we arrived but when I opened the door and he saw it, he dropped his bags and looked at me with the biggest smile on his face and said "Wow, this is awesome, look at the floors and countertops" Having a man who does high end home renovations can be quiet hard to satisfy, but I did just that when I found the Jaybird. The place was clean and had everything we needed and just a 2 minute drive to the city center. And the price, you can't beat it! We will definitely be coming back to stay at the Jaybird!

Pros: The rooms are very clean, can park right outside your room. It takes about 45 mins to walk the approx mile and half to downtown, but you get to see so many of the sites. It was nice and quiet and the free breakfast was basic but good for what you pay for. There is an option to go to their restaurant but have to pay extra for this.
Cons: To start with, the welcome wasn't what we expected, but after a while, all of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a pleasant one.

Pros: We were truly and pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Not only was it well priced but also well situated, clean (spotless), cool (new a/c unit) and very comfortable (large rooms, shower/toilet and beds). All the little extras, at no extra cost, included: free wi-fi, a fridge, a microwave, a coffee maker (with normal and decaf coffee), a large TV, shampoo/soap/conditioner, extra towels, etc. which added value to our stay. Also included was the use of a pool, a gym, access to a desktop computer & printing facilities and a sitting/resting/waiting lounge area. The staff were very friendly, pleasant to talk to and informative. A separate eating area (another building approx. 75 feet away), included a bar, a pizza restaurant a conference room and a delightful and shady outdoor patio/garden sitting area. The food was simple, not expensive (plus 15% off for residents) and tasty. As it's a motel, we parked a few feet away from our room (free parking) and noticed a Walgreens and a CVS across the road for those last minute nibblies/munchies. Ten out of ten in our opinion.
Cons: There's not much here except that there is a train that runs every hour from early to late and as it approaches the crossing (approx. 75 yards away from the motel) blows it's horn several times. For overseas visitors, there are no plug adaptors, so bring your own.

Cons: My only complaint was housekeeping waiting at the door at 10am. While I understand that most people check out early, the hovering around the door was rude. Check out is listed as 12. The cleaning crew was at the door and then left the cart sitting there for 2 hours. My whole purpose in staying was to get some things done on the internet. I felt rushed and a little aggravated.

Pros: We weren't sure about Jaybirds when we pulled up. I had booked the room based on reviews and was surprised to find an old school motel. Boy, were our expectations exceeded!!! Helpful desk manager, nice clean room with local art photography on the walls and one of the best diners I've ever eaten at is attached! The bartender is very knowledgeable about the area. We continues our road trip up into the Carolinas and stayed at a variety of places, but jaybirds was my family's favorite!

Pros: The staff were accommodating, and we were treated to a complimentary dessert and sparkling wine as a treat for the last day of our honeymoon. The room was nearly perfect excepting a broken.smoke detector. The fitness facility was amazing.
Cons: The resort clientele appeared below the standards to which the hotel aspires. In addition, the check-in process was slow. The contemporary or "virtual" terminals were not sufficient. Cons: At the rates we were paying we were not expecting much beyond a good location, but this hotel managed to disappoint nonetheless. My daughter was playing with some toys on the floor for about 10 minutes when we realized that her feet and pajamas were stained black by the dirt and soil on the carpet. Our bare feet were also black. The shower was equally stained with black streaks and the shower fixtures were held in place, barely, by caulking. One of our rooms, which were posted as non-smoking rooms, also wreaked of cigarette smoke upon arrival. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Staff seemed annoyed you were there at check in. Wife killed a roach in the bathroom... lucky she was wearing flip flop due to the sticky floor. They also don't tell you about the $8 room fee you have to pay at check in.... surprise!! Best part was the rodent trying to get the bag of gummy bears on the chair while we were sleeping. Aw the memories.

Cons: Entrance off of SR16 off of I-95 requires a u-turn which can be tricky at night, or you can simply go through Denny' parking lot. Our room apparently had a bad exhaust vent motor that cycled on and off about every 15 minutes. It made a humming sound as if the fan was trying to start. This would last about 1 1/2 minutes and then stop. I suspect that the fan motor simply overheated and shut down to allow it to cool. I informed the main desk when we left and they said that they would look into it.

Pros: The room was updated with new flooring, a new, comfortable bed and flat screen tv with Direct TV. They had a pool and fitness room, and a hot breakfast with bacon and eggs was included. For the money we paid, this hotel was a great value.
Cons: There were only a few cons, and all things considered, we would certainly return. Most notably, the hotel was somewhat removed from downtown Saint Augustine, which was the reason for our trip. There was no mini fridge in the room. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but it was noticeable when we could not cool food and drinks we bought other than in the ice bucket. Lastly, we had some ants on the floor in the sink and bathroom area. Not a big deal, but they did offer to move us if needed.

Pros: Dennys part of the complex... Great turkey bacon on the side with an egg white scramble
Cons: Complained to management that the guest room floor made our (bare and stockinged) feet filthy and the (smelly) sink was very slow to drain. Was told that the (tile) floors are cleaned every day and the dirt was probably tracked in by us! I said that was highly unlikely and told her that floors are not cleaned by merely pushing around dirty water with a wet mop. Sink drain was cleared and floors were "cleaned" the next day while we were exploring St. Augustine. We came back to the room only to find once again the the floors made our feet filthy. For the second time I brought my (tan colored) socks to the front desk, complained and asked to see the manager / was told she was not on site. That night, from the room that was above us... There was all kinds kinds of noise and actually sounded like someone was being tossed around hitting the walls and floor. I called the front desk and they said they would check into it. It stopped for a while and then started again, so I called again to complain and was told the police should be there shortly. They came / situation seemed resolved and I went out to my vehicle to get something and noticed a seedy looking couple hanging over the railing smoking. Decided to make like I was leaving and drove out of the front of the motel / back in on the other side and parked there... 'Just in case'. Next morning... I went to the grocery store and bought a 'Swiffer' mop and used 4 pads that ended up BLACK with dirt, hair and who knows what else. Brought the pads in a plastic bag to the same woman at the front desk and said I would like to leave them for the manager... She told me that was not necessary to have the (evidence) bag which I left with her anyway. I asked when the manager would be back on site... The reply: "I don't know when". I do know... I won't be visiting a Days Inn again, anytime soon! P.s. My wife just reminded me there was a discarded hypodermic needle syringe in the parking lot that she noticed the morning we left... Really?

Cons: It was definitely an older motel and I wouldn't say dirty, nothing a new carpet and paint couldn't fix but it looked like they were working on that.

Pros: No breakfast served, didn’t have any?
Cons: Very dirty room with a lot of roaches, very big ones. Skip this place next time

Cons: The pool had GREEN algae in it and it burned my grandson's throat. The a/c unit had so much lint I used an entire towel to clean the filter. The floor/carpet felt damp all the time. The first room they gave me the frig was not cooling and the sink area looked like it had not been cleaned. Within the hour of them changing me from that room they put another family in it and the maid service was not available at the time. The second room had what looked like blood stains on the sheets and when I asked for them to be changed I was told the maid service was unavailable, so I said I would change them if they would give me the sheets, but was told the office did not have access to more sheet. Also the spreads had burns on them. I would not recommend this place to any one. Had I not already paid I would not have stayed there, but I'm retired and could not afford to lose my money.

Pros: The location was convenient to the Outlet Malls, Dunkin' Donuts and a wide array of restaurants.
Cons: The lobby, room, bathroom, and landscaping all were in dire need of a complete renovation. The carpet was absolutely filthy, the bathroom was disgusting and the place simply needs to be shut down and given a complete renovation. In addition, an inspector needs to come in a couple of times (on a weekend and during a slow period) to see that the current management "team" is an embarrassment to the Howard Johnson name and should be fired immediately. The overall condition of this hotel is a direct reflection of the incompetence and laziness of the management. There should be a zero tolerance for allowing this hotel to be so filthy.

Pros: Ease of getting on and off the main highway.
Cons: 1. We booked the hotel closer to the beach and were given the one on I-95. 2. We arrived and waited 30 minutes to check in. While waiting we noticed the staff arguing among themselves about who is doing what and where etc. 3. The first room we checked into was already being used by someone else. 4. The second room they gave us, was suppose to be non-smoking as well. It reeked of smoke. Someone pulled the non-smoking plaque off the wall. 5. After walking to the lobby the third time, I had enough of the attitude of these three men working the counter. 6. Finally I got the keys to room 104. It was so small! It also only had one queen bed. We were told there were no other rooms, so we had to take it. 7. The hot breakfast looked pitiful so we ended up walking across the street to Denny's. 8. The doorway walking into the lobby makes for a great place to smoke for the employees. It was always full of them when we walked through. 9. The mattress and box spring needs to be replaced. Sleeping in a hole. Very hard to sleep on this! I travel for my job on a weekly basis and this my friends was a very poor reflection on the Howard Johnson's we know.

Cons: For someone who has lived in Florida for 21 years, I have never heard of a Howard Johnson hotel. While doing some research for a trip to st Augustine, I thought I had booked for the one on San Marco near the historical district. Turns out it was the one about 30 minutes away after traffic. Between discussing with the front desk reps at both hotels, it was against policy to wither issue a refund or to transfer the reservation ( even after I offered to pay any up charge) and would have to talk to a manager, however there wasn't on the grounds and wouldn't be until tomorrow morning ( after my reservation) so, my two options were to either stay at this hotel or pay for another room and lose the 72 dollars. The lady at the front desk at the hotel location I wanted to be near said this happens all the time and they can never do anything about it. Hotel was garbage. My room was non-smoking and it smelled like the inside of a pool hall, the door barely closed and had cracks all around it. The bathroom was barely half painted along with the fact that I had to spend 15 minutes in the morning trying to get the hair dryer working so my wife could blow dry her hair. A dozen showers later and I still feel dirty and lied too. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST

Pros: It was affordable...
Cons: ... but still not worth the price. There were bugs in the sheets, the sink was leaking, the Wi-Fi signal is weak, there's a $20 early check in fee if you arrive early, the bed does not have a comforter, and the TV doesn't get much channels and/or the audio is screwed up in channels. I plan on complaining to corporate tomorrow.

Cons: We paid $125 for our room because of short notice v-day shopping and lack of available rooms in the rest of town. They had a sign out front stating "$49 and up" which is the quality of hotel this was. Nothing wrong about that, I typically stay at places like that anyways, but a room like this shouldn't cost more than $75 after taxes/fees.

Pros: Cheap
Cons: The overall feeling of the place was creepy and uncomfortable. It had a very unkept appeal and wall was peeling as well as a hole in the back of the bathroom door. I couldn't stay here. I didn't feel comfortable in the room given to me. Never would stay there and don't recommend it to anyone.

Pros: Good location with a comfortable bed.

Pros: The night shift front desk lady was very nice and did help us out a lot with trying to figure things out to see and do. She recommended some very cool things and our daughter loved them all. Atleast the A/C worked.
Cons: Well to start off. The rooms were very dirty, you can not walk on the floor without shoes. The tv gets 16 channels, 3 have an annoying screeching sound, 2 are HBO and the rest are news also the tvs were made back in the early 90's. There was apparent water damage to all of the furniture and the fan doesn't work in the bathroom. All around I would give this hotel a 3 out of ten.

Pros: Staff was nice and helpful. Location was good.
