Pros:
Cons: Pictures are misleading. Lobby is extremely small and awkward. I had to wait an hour for my room. The noise is awful and the lobby bathroom needs urgent attention. Ceptic water was leaking from the side of the toilet. While washing my hands a centreped came up from the faucet drain. I couldn't believe it, so I recorded it. I left right after checking in, and was charged $65. That was because I opened my mouth and raised my voice. Else they would have stayed with my week charged value. The place looks like a motel for a quicky, not to spend the night. Had me paranoid while looking for a next hotel. Honestly speaking.

Pros: Casa Sanchez is located close to El Conde Street which is in the center of Santo Domingo (Zona Colonial). From here, you can reach nearly every historic monument that’s worth to be seen and more. The staff is very helpful and friendly which made my stay so comfortable and chilled. Carmen is the Girl who runs all with the help of the Casa Sanchez’s staff. Hospitality became ingrained with them. They help you with taxis or recommended restaurants or give you directions. I stayed here 5 nights and I was very satisfied. Everything was so clean. Breakfast was good and they offer much more. Just ask them! They even organize transfer from airports which was really good for me because I arrived in the nighttime. Highly recommended

Pros: Casas del XVI is a stylishly decadent experience. You enter through a secure foyer and are directed towards a uniquely sophisticated lounge area. At this point, your vacation has already begun. You will sip fresh juices on a luscious sofa as they check you in and inform you about their services., You will then be given an iPhone pre-programmed with the numbers of the concierge and your butler. Your butler takes you to your room to show you how to access it's features. You notice the airiness of the room, the attention to detail, and all of the bathroom amenities one comes to expect. Meanwhile, the staff has already set up your lounge chairs by the pool, complete with water, two towels, and leather-bound menus. Breakfast may be served poolside or at an elegantly-set table in the courtyard. if you happen to order a few bottles of Champagne (as we did,) they will be attended to quite expertly to protect against the Caribbean heat. Quick to anticipate needs, our amazing butler Agusto knew exactly when to offer to reset our chairs in a shadier spot, provide menus, or bring more of our favorite bubbles. He was the absolute best! Lastly, the beds are one of the most comfortable I've slept in.

Pros: The hotel was absolutely stunning and the property was divided into various houses, each with their own character and charm. Every item was hand selected with great attention for care with from local artists and designers. It was a magical place with the feeling of being outside the city. All the casas had their own pool and onsite butler. The staff were extremely hospitable and friendly. I would definitely return, and if I were traveling with a family, or a group of people, I would highly recommend renting one of the casas. I learned that Oscar de La Renta lived in one of the houses before it became a hotel. Owner by Small Luxury Hotels of the world. Thankt you for a wonderful stay!

Pros: gorgeous building, interior, and courtyard design. it really is unique and mazelike; i was smitten. (i'm from california so i'm floored by anything > 100 years old.)
décor is like a regal columbus-fanboy/conquistador-chic, the zealotry of which i found somehow both zinn-esquely uncomfortable and museum-patron aesthetically pleasing.
our room had tons of space, an antechamber with a few couches, a great bathroom (jet tub!, separate shower, separate toilet, bidet), an adorable relic of a pc with a 3.5" floppy drive, decent wifi (got dropped a few times but it was reasonably fast compared to what i'd seen in other cafés... just don't plan on playing an fps, etc.).
we had the 5-crown room which i wouldn't normally spring for; there just wasn't vacancy in other rooms: it was the perfect hideaway to recharge and relax after walking around all day. so comfy :3

my bf appreciated the a/c, which was very effective.
Cons: nothing too bad, but staff was just okay, not super attentive and not particularly helpful when i had issues, i wouldn't consider them outright rude or anything though.
e.g.
-- i asked for a first aid kit or a bandage etc (in spanish) when my bf cut his foot and they just kinda shrugged and stared, so i just had to go outside and look for a pharmacy.
-- i asked for the balcony door to be unlocked and they just never got around to it for the entire duration of my stay, etc.
the free/not-free breakfast debacle: like another reviewer, i also was kind of confused when at checkin they said i had to pay for breakfast (the description said it was included). i chalked this up to an inaccurate description sent to the various hotelerie sites, and just assumed i'd pay for it a subset of the days, but then at checkout they didn't charge me for any of my breakfasts... so eh? if i had known it was actually included instead of hearing conflicting information i would have eaten breakfast there 100% of the time and saved some money : \
a lot of these might just be cultural differences, which is why i wanna reiterate that it wasn't too bad... i just wouldn't call it amazing service as i'd heard described in other reviews.

Cons: Lack of water and towels. Toilet would not flush easily and shower leaked into the bathroom floor.

Pros: Only the room The bed was very comfortable.
Cons: The Hotel absolutely doesn't deserve the 4 star rating.Probably the rating was based on the facilities that hotel provides. Appart from the room which was very confortable all the rest was of substandard more like a 2 star Hotel. The communal areas are very run down in urgent need of refurbishment very 70's look, especially the breakfast room. Its more like a canteen and food is of the lowest quality standards. Al in all very depressing feel wouldn't recommend it at all lt kills the joy of holiday with shabby and depressing interior . Latst time i stayed in Boutique Palacio in zona colonial .This time wanted a bit off change and proved to be mistake.Palacio is lower start rating but much better option..as its got the charm of Spanish colonial architecture and very good feel factor.

Pros: Highly recommend a room with window or balcony! Staff is very friendly. I feel safe here as a visitor that doesn't speak Spanish.
Cons: The breakfast was extremely limited; more options if you just go to restaurant as a patron and not a hotel guest. Would cost a few more dollars, but would have been worth it. I understand the renovations are to make more modern, but I really miss the nostalgia that I experienced with previous stays. Very small bathrooms.

Pros: The hotel is cute and quaint.. located in the heart of zona colonial was a plus
Cons: The AC was extremely noisy, we asked about laundry, they told us they charge 1.50 per item. We gave them 42 items, then got a bill for $113.00!!!! To find out later that they charge 3.50for shirts and pants, and 1.50 for socks and undies.. they were not honest with us. Breakfast at the hotel was about 35.00 for four people, simply juice and a small omlet. No elavators! We were on the 4th floor..

Cons: In the room there are no facilities at all: no glasses, no teapot, no coffee machine, no slippers and no bathrobe. The room with balcony and Palacio Consistorial view costs twice as much but this is not highlighted in the description. Breakfast for 7 USD is just a wasting of money - there are no buffet. In general this hotel draws excellent 3 stars, but not 4, I guess.

Pros: Location was great. It’s a modern cheerful hotel but somewhat overpriced. I did not like that the website said there’s a coffee maker in the room which was not true and that I planed to eat cup noodle in the room for dinner. The staff was nice enough to get me one but that took about an hour and I was so tired and hungry by then. They were out of the most basic things for breakfast. These things were not replenished until I told the staff and then it took almost 10 minutes!!!!! No butter, jam or coffee????????? Are you joking!!!!! Then there were no napkins and when I cam in was the last speck of runny eggs! These things should be replenished before the guests need to ask for them. Breakfast was served from 7 to 10:30 and I got there at 8:15 !!!! Someone needs to supervise the staff. I also did not like that in the middle of answering my question the front desk answered phone calls numerous times and continued to keep me waiting each time. This seems really rude. Staff should ask the person on the phone to wait. There was a leak in my bathroom from the ceiling. I had to wait very long to get some towels to wipe it up. I was told there was ice but I wasn’t allowed to get it and had to wait overly long for them to bring it. Maybe I had to ask at least four times. I was confused why the website gave very large dimensions for the room but it was actually much smaller. I really wanted to like this hotel but it fell short. For the same price I stayed in a gorgeous all inclusive in punta cana!!!!!! Was not worth the money.

Pros: The staff was superb! Everyone was friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: The shower was small, small, small. Walls were very thin and the room was very noisy. You could hear people talking all the way down the hall. Breakfast was “ok”. Not meant for vegetarians at all.
5.7 Okay
Pros: For the price, nothing about this hotel was really worth it.
Cons: I didn't like anything. The shower was very small, the way they set up the minibar was deceitful. I figured the stuff was free to make up for such low quality. Literally over $60 for snacks you could get at a store for $10 or less. There's a little booklet that had prices but it's basically hidden. They did that on purpose. The room had nothing special in it. Felt kind of gross too but it was pretty expensive. I can't recommend this place.

Pros: Absolutely nothing , not even the location beats how disgusting it was was there in every sense . Cleanliness wise and the treatment I got .
Cons: We read the reviews on booking and thought this would be a decent place to spend two nights in . First of all they’re blankly lying in the features they said the room we booked had . In my booking it said that breakfast was included and that the room had a city view, that was all A TOTAL LIE . The first thing they did as soon as we got there was charge us the dollar exchange rate at 53 Dominican Pesos when it was 52.35 Dominican pesos on the day we checked in . We weren’t given much instruction or WiFi password , the guy in the front desk told us breakfast wasn’t included and that there would be a charge if we wanted to have breakfast there . I thought that would be the worse part until they took us to the room , the room was absolutely filthy as you can see in some of the pictures we uploaded ( and that’s only a few) , there was dust everywhere , the ceiling was moldy from filtration , I went and talked to them in a nice way to no avail, they couldn’t care less . The only window in the room pointed to the hallway and you could hear everything in there . There was no phone in the room and no one had the courtesy to say to let them know if we needed anything. The next morning a girl in a really bad mood brought us the breakfast that I had paid for on check in . It was a sandwich, COLD black coffee and a juice in a cup that had dish soap residue . They were rude until the end of our stay . I’ve used booking many times and had never had such experience , I am floored that this hotel is allowed to basically lie to people . I hope no one falls on this trap again . I was with my boyfriend from Denmark who is visiting Dom. Rep. For the first time . Please DO NOT ruin your trip by staying here there are other more decent places for the same price .
6.7 Good
Pros: Good location near the Zona Colonial and excellent parking facilities in a locked garage. Help with loading and unloading luggage
Cons: Only one room key and it required resetting every time we came back to the hotel

Cons: The mattress needs upgrade. Also dividing glass wall in shower should be longer, because the water is splashing infront of toilet. Or add curtain. We also did have noisy guests on Friday night.
