Terrantai Lodge Hotel - San Pedro de Atacama - Building

9.3 Excellent (632 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Terrantai Lodge Hotel places you in the heart of San Pedro de Atacama, steps from San Pedro Church and Plaza de San Pedro de Atacama. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very friendly and helpful for any kind of need. The room is comfortable and nice. Breakfast with a great choice of fresh and handmade products. All in all, thanks to the attention to any needs of the guests, the feeling of our stay was better than in many 5 stars hotels.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location of the lodge is excellent. The breakfast was good to very good. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and have an excellent working relationship with Trekana for tours. There is no restaurant, but that is well compensated by the availability of complimentary tea, coffee and snacks at all times, and the early evening service of cheese and wine.
Cons: Better control of heating in the rooms would be a great improvement.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so friendly and helpful and the hotel offered lots of free extras
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the off street parking was a real bonus. (we didn't realise at the time that parking in town was such an issue). the staff were unbelievable and the place is an oasis of cleanliness and calm in the backpacker craziness of the town.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This hotel reflects local artesanal skills in both construction and decor. The staff are eager to please and the free afternoon teas, wine tasting and occasional local music are nice touches. All speak good English and for us with little or no Spanish this made life easy.
Cons: The curtains let in too much light and the rooms could benefit from black-out curtains for those guests whom are light sensitive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Staff was super friendly. The room was comfortable and very clean.
Cons: We liked it all
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice breakfast. Liked the homemade items. Pleasant patio area.
Cons: Not enough lighting at night between reception and the rooms. Very thin walls between rooms. Getting lost between reception and the room for the first two days!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location & the staff is extremely helpful
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great localization (walking distance from best restaurants in town), great breakfast, charming decoration, comfortable rooms, a pool and a library. One of the greatest hotel staff I´ve ever known, super friendly, helpful and communicative (specially Magaly, Melissa and Pablo), that makes the vibe of the hotel super relaxed and warm. Every afternoon it´s tea time, with a lot of options of local herbs. Also from 7-9p.m. they serve cheese and wine to the guests, a fantastic initiative. You can chat with people from all over the world about travel experiences and whatever comes to mind, creating something like a hostel experience in a more fancy hotel. We really felt at home at Terrantai, it was super hard to leave. Thanks!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: We liked absolutely everything about the hotel! Room was perfect, setting incredible, staff super friendly, food amazing...
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is fabulous. A stunning oasis in the middle of the desert with a focus on natural environment and sustainability without compromising style. Pool and spa amazing. Excellent food and wine. Bar staff, kitchen and wait staff and guides JP & Carolina especially) exceptional. Outdoor shower great! Loved the reading nook and minimalist room design. Barefoot luxury at its best. Genuinely excellent service and facilities (room, excursions, pool, yoga room, hot tub, gardens, reading nooks, outdoor showers and stunning views) without pretension. Would definitely stay again.
Cons: Very expensive and reception staff a bit cold compared to the warmth everywhere else in hotel (both on email and in final bill payment). It is obviously expensive to maintain such a high level of services in a desert though! It’s possible it was more confusing because we were bed and breakfast rather than all inclusive (definitely looked the way to go for longer stays!). Overall just a few moments of confusion in an otherwise outstanding stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The excursions were great. The facilities were clean and beautifully decorated. The room was spacious and the pool and spa were great. Mauro, the person in charge of the excursions, did his utmost to arrange the excursions we wanted to do, even if these were not on the program of the hotel.
Cons: The food was excellent one evening and mediocre the next. But overall good!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the activities as part of the resort. It was a little confusing as we purchased a bed & breakfast. They didn’t have prices for activities or lunch & dinner (We didn’t really eat breakfast)
Cons: Wish we had a set price list for items that we wanted to included. We loved the spas and we also did yoga outside it was amazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful staff, facilities, location, excursions, food and beverages. Great attention to detail.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel itself is beautiful and very well designed. Everything about our stay was amazing - but the highlight was the staff. Everyone was so kind and genuine, they could not do enough to help you. We went on several amazing excursions and wished we had time to do more; the guides were extremely knowledgable and full of passion. I can't wait to return some day.
Cons: A tiny grip, but the steam room could have worked a lot better as door doesn't close properly. If you are having problems with the dry climate though I believe they have humidifiers if you ask at reception.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place, great staff
Cons: Lack of activities when it rains
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and ambience
Cons: Need to stay at least five days to acclimatise for the wonderful volcano hikes
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Above all else, the management and the staff went out of their way to make it an experience and not just a place to stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel. Not cheap but all inclusive. Staff (hotel, restaurant and guides) always very helpful. Trips organized very well. Normally 9am in the morning until 1pm. And then from 4pm to 7:30pm. Leaving a good time for lunch and resting in the hotel. I liked all the trips and on arrival there is a good planning with recommendations which trips to do. My trips were always in very small groups (max. 3) with several times 2 guides and only me! I am not sure whether this is always guaranteed (I was there in low season), but made it very helpful as everyone has different speed to walk or time to spend for taking photos. Often food (lunch or small picnic is provided) which I found sometimes a bit exaggerated if 2 groups from our hotel went to the same place (with different guides) and then having separately 2 tables with large amount of food. Guides are very helpful, knowledgeable, speaking different languages (I had German, English and Portuguese) and also – I prefer this – taking food together with the guests (I really do not like trips where the guides need to eat on a different place which I experienced in several place in the world). Only weak excursion was star gazing. The guide did not seem overly motivated and seemed more to try to get the excursion done. For example, he used the same eyepiece/ocular for watching deep sky objects (e.g. galaxies and nebulas) and for planets. Lunch and Dinner excellent. Very large variety changing every day with 3 options. When I did not like one of them, they provided me something else which was not on the menu. Breakfast was ok (but good for South American standards). I was in the Atacama mid of August which in my opinion was an excellent time. A bit chilly in the evening and even more in the morning; however, during the daytime excursions the temperature was very good (18 – 20 / 64 – 68 degrees) as the sun was still very strong.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kate was absolutely brilliant, the view of the mountains and stars, breakfast, the lodge itself was beautiful too
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The views from the room are the best, the room is comfortable and they prepared the crib for our son with no extra charge. Great staff
Cons: the only thing was that they offer free wifi but we were never able to make it work on our devices. We tried at different locations and never worked
10.0 Excellent
Pros: amazing place with stunning view, and an awesome lovely crew
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for 6 nights and found this to be a great choice outside the hussle, noise and light pollution of the town. A very safe 20 minute walk is all it takes to be in the centre for meals and drinks. Katia was an amazing hostess and gave us great ideas for things to do based on the attitude. Hotel is authentic and rustic with great charmade from the traditional adobe process. Lovely breakfast served daily with fresh produce and eggs cooked to order. The outdoor seating area is lovely for an afternoon rest and watch thr sun go down. Bed was comfortable and room clean with a few small touches to make your stay better. For something less touristy this is the place to stay. Love to come back again one day.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a wonderful experience. It is a little outside of the town, but not an issue at all if you have a car. There is very little light pollution and the sky at night is amazing. The rooms have large windows with a great view of the volcanoes without any houses / poles etc. cluttering the view. Depending on traffic, it is a 5-10 min drive to the town center. San Pedro is more a village than a town, with just a few paved roads. Be prepared for a lot of dust when driving. Also, it gets very dark - carry a flashlight with you. There are only five cottages in this lodge, and they are made of indigenous material, but are very clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast (included) is quite good and they will even cook your eggs to order! Juan, the owner, is very knowledgeable (he used to be a guide) and helpful.
Cons: Can't think of anything that we did not like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff hospitality was excellent, as was the breakfast and variety of tea/coffee offered for guests to help themselves to in the kitchen. The beds were turned down every day.
Cons: Nothing! If I had to pick then the shower could have been hotter.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Super kind staff, great breakfast, specially the bread. And most importantly, an amazing view of the mountains
Cons: Only that the bathroom in the dining room was out of service
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was nice with fresh juice, coffee and egg. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the staff was nice and warm. Staring at the stars through the window in our warm bed was the most enjoyable thing during our stay
Cons: Nothing really, if I really have to say something that I didn't like will be the shampoo that was provided.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything was excelent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing and helpful staff. Katia is so kind! Lovely breakfast with an unbeatable view.
Alto Atacama Desert Lodge & Spa - San Pedro de Atacama - Building
4
9.3 Excellent (167 reviews)
$2,136+
Overview Reviews
The luxurious Alto Atacama is blessed with a most spectacular and private location, tucked away in a valley of serene beauty, in the shadow of the Pukar de Quitor ruins and with the San Pedro River winding its way discreetly alongside. The perfect base for exploring the desert, cultural encounters, or simply absorbing the breathtaking landscape.Guests can choose from a unique range of cultural and active excursions, or perhaps pamper themselves in our magnificent pool and spa area. Our Chef combines classic Mediterranean and Chilean recipes with a dash of native flavor to create an original range of culinary delights. The Atacama Desert is a land of unique diversity. It is an eerie lunar landscape in places, cool, lush river canyons in others. In some parts rain has not touched this parched land for the past three hundred years while summer can bring rainstorms in the surrounding mountains. It can be vast empty stretches of rock, salt, and sand, and an explosion of life at the same time. Alto Atacamas 32 rooms are spacious, comfortable, and conducive to a good nights sleep after an action-packed day. The decoration is rustic yet elegant, with local crafts adding warmth and character. Each room has a private terrace; the perfect spot to absorb the colors and silence of the valley. Our superb outdoor pool area includes six private and individual pools, a whirlpool bath, and a bar. Alto Atacama is a stunning work of architecture. Its seamless incorporation into the valley was achieved thanks to the architects recognition that set against a backdrop of such unique topography, breathtaking natural beauty, and rich cultural heritage, a building must be humble and pay homage to its surroundings. Atacama is blessed with the worlds clearest skies, and Alto Atacamas unique location away from the hustle and bustle and bright lights of the village of San Pedro means there is zero light pollution, providing the most incredible setting for an evenings stargazing. We invite you to come and experience one of the most pristine and fascinating places on Earth.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything about the Lodge: friendly, helpful staff, great hospitality, beautiful surroundings and my room/suite was excellent. Great food choice and a wide variety of excursions on offer. All my needs and wants were catered for, and I felt looked after as soon as I had left the airport's arrivals halls to the end of my stay and return to the airport for my departure flight. It was an ultimate and amazing trip and destination for me - a most memorable and enjoyable one.
Cons: That my stay was so brief ( three nights) meant that I was not able to enjoy the facilities or my room/suite to its maximum, because I was taking advantage of as many day excursions as possible. The lighting in the room was a bit low for my liking, but their reason for this was to let your eyes relax from the desert's harsh sunlight, which made a lot of sense and consideration.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff is amazing, all very friendly, helpful and attentive. The included tours are really great, with excellent guides and very exclusive, with few people. The facilities of the hotel are very good, with a pleasent atmosphere. It was a great experience and I recommend for sure.
Cons: The gastronomy could be better: The breakfast is not bad at all, but is not as great as I would expect and the menu of the restaurant is not very diversified.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was absolutely perfect. The room was very spacious and comfortable, the pools are really good, the restaurant is fine, there are many areas for relaxing and enjoying the stay and it's all decorated with such good taste. But, mostly, I've never seen a better staff in a hotel. Some of the best people I've ever met work at Alto Atacama. Truly. I wish I could mention the name of everyone here, but I'd certainly forget somebody, so it wouldn't be fair. You're the best. The guides were brilliant (gracias, David, Esteban, Michael, Fernandinho, Dayane and Arturo). They were fun, nice, caring and really knowledgeable. More than seeing those amazing out-of-this-world landscapes, each excursion was like a lesson in botany, geology, history, biology, astronomy, local culture and general science. It's really impressive how much information the guides have. If you pay attention to them, it can make your experience in Atacama be even richer. Thanks everyone. I look forward to coming back.
Cons: There was nothing I didn't love about this hotel.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic food and service. Friendly staff. Everything included.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely stay at Alto. The hotel is stunning. Very comfortable and brilliantly located right in the heart of the desert. The excursions were great and our guides fantastic. We were amazed at how varied the landscape is and how much there is to see and do. Very friendly staff too. Would hugely recommend. A very memorable stay.
Cons: The food in the restaurant is good but the choices don't change. Got a bit boring eating the same food.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Is the typical adobe construction, finished with a nice touch and details The staff were very friendly and helpful
Cons: For us it was a bit cold during the night (winter) but it was ok with a gas heater A swimming pool will make this a paradise resort
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This accomodation was fantastic. Will certainly return. Thank you for such a great stay. Over friendly staff, super comfortable beds with a delicious breakfast.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The serving personal were friendly, there was free coffee, water, and fruit.
Cons: The hotel manager Pia. We were with 6 persons and we had bought excursions for 3 days through the hotel. The first day , a full day excursion, costed Clp. 50.000 per person, and should have taken us far away to the red rock mountains and high altitude lagoons, and on our way back to the lower salt lagoons with flamingos. However the road to the mountains was closed, so we only made it to the flamingos, and stopped as an alternative in a small village on our way back. Later in our hotel, and after a (too) long discussion, we agreed with manager Pia that, as a compensation, the last day excursion (Clp. 25.000 per person) should not be charged to us. However, when arriving back home, we noticed that the money was unrightfully taken from our credit card account. We find this way of doing totally unacceptable and want our money back.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful comfortable rustic place. Great staff who made us feel at home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great experience. Everything was laid out and organized perfectly. It was walking distance to the city center where all the restaurants and tours are located. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. They made us breakfast to go on two occasions as we had to be up and out early for tours. They even allowed us to use their computer when we were having booking issues for the rest of our trip. I believe they went above and beyond and we are already planning our return.
Cons: We had a little trouble with hot water in the shower the first night but it was quickly resolved and we had wonderful warm showers the rest of our stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were amazing. A friendly and comfortable environment.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast and options on menu. Easy access and silent rooms. Friendly environment and outdoor relaxing areas. Good WIFI system. Organic architecture embraced by nature.
Cons: Nothing at the moment.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at this hotel was really great: clean rooms, very very very welcoming staff, they have explained us everything, gave us hints on where to go and what to eat. On top the structure has Llamas , Lulan (the Male Llama) was so cute. Position perfect, close to the town center.
Cons: Only if have to be very critical the only thing missing was the internet connection in the room. It was available from the common areas.
6.7 Good
Pros: Very friendly and very cute the place
Cons: The bathroom and the bathtub with the tend is very uncomfortable and it is not hygienic. The windows are semi open and all the cold get inside
Explora Atacama - San Pedro de Atacama - Bedroom
6
9.1 Excellent (224 reviews)
$1,940+
Overview Reviews
Situated in San Pedro de Atacama, this luxury property is within a 15-minute walk of Plaza de San Pedro de Atacama, San Pedro Church, and Meteorite Museum. R.P. Gustavo Le Paige Archaeological Museum and Pukara de Quitor Archaeological Site are also within 3 mi (5 km).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great rooms, awesome staff (cleaning, guides, restaurant, bar). They have many expedition, all types.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location, beautiful and elegant hotel, where you can feel the beauty of the desert. The activities organised by the hotel are outstanding and they take great care to details, very friendly and helpful people in general, Max is a particularly caring manager and he is always paying attention to your requests and wellbeing. Food is good
Cons: The head of excursions, Consuelo, is a clear downside to this place, she is always patronising clients and is quite unfriendly and arrogant. The fact that they accepted a large group of noisy people that where invading the common areas talking on free hands phone and dressing swimming suits at dining in complete freedom, changed completely the ambiance of the place. With such prices the hotel should prevent this
8.8 Excellent
Pros: All is good, service and guides even great... but for the level of expense the personalisation of the experience isn't quite there. Despite the efforts to accomodate everyone's needs they still try to maximise groups and so you don't always get the excursion you'd like the day you want it. I'll definitely go back to Atacama, just not sure if to Explora, there are other options which are equally high level and offer a more personal experience.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived at Calama airport all our needs were met for the next 5 days.To reach the best sites to see in the area takes lots of planning and time and this was arranged each day with consultations with guides. All staff went out of their way to help and clearly loved their jobs and loved Chile!I had an upset stomach one morning maybe caused by the altitude and staff made an infusion for me which did help. The meals were all excellent and wine choices good.
Cons: Beer choices very limited- IPA or Lager only( minor criticism). We knew that wi fi would not be available in our rooms but it was still a little annoying to only have it in common area. When family are on the other side of the world they are usually only contactable at odd hours in the night.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, very attentive staff. Nothing was too much for them. The guides were very well trained, helpful and friendly and were well prepared for our many questions on flora, fauna, geology and many other subjects. The food was much better than we had expected and the restaurant staff very good.
Cons: the room was very comfortable but the bathroom was a bit dated. It could be modernised.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Their amazing service. We asked and they delivered.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was great, the rooms were clean, good location 2min walk to main street but in a quiet area important when having to get up early for all those excursions into the desert. The staff were personable and helpful and free filtered water onsite, perfect for those hot dry days in the desert. Would definitely recommend.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay at Mamatierra! The rooms are comfortable, there are enough bathrooms, which are always clean and the kitchen is well equipped. Further there is a good place where you can wash your clothes.
Cons: The kitchen is sometimes a bit busy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice place, hammock is great, super clean, great breakfast with eggs and pancakes, and super friendly staff!!
Cons: Room is a little small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Shared social was always clean with properties (shampoo, toilet paper, towel). The kitchen we could use was very nice, fully equipped, so we could cook our own dinners (as San Pedro is very expensive for low budget tourists) or you could do a tea there during cold evenings. Breakfasts were really rich. The beds were really comfortable with thick blankets and there were extra blankets in case of cold nights (which is almost every night in San Pedro:D).
Cons: The girl on reception was unpleasant, she didnt show us what is in the accomodation and that we can use a kitchen (which both boys on reception did with every host), which we found out from another host two days later.

Cons: The breakfast starts later but they prepared box.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location was great. The employees were awesome. They helped us get to the good tours.
Cons: The guests leaving all hours of the night were very loud. The long hallway created echoes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfi room. Good breakfast . Great kitchen facilities. Super friendly staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved this hostal! It is a little further away from town, only a 15 minute walk, but after being hassled by tour companies all the time, you really appreciate a quieter part of town. The kitchen was so well stocked (blender, wine opener, toaster, oven!) and we were able to make all of our picnic lunches and dinner. The room was clean, but we had a maid clean our room daily, which I've never had before in a hostel. Everything was so well maintained and the staff were incredibly resourceful and helpful - calling the tourism office to confirm times, locations, etc.
Cons: nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The airline left our bags behind at the last airport, Robert and Hugo went well out of their way to help us get the bags. We had scheduled a visit to El Tatio the next morning, -15C temps, and our clothes were in the missing bags. Can't speak more highly of the staff. Helpful, friendly and courteous.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. Just 10 min walk from main street. Helped us with all the info and more. Super clean. Good kitchen facilities and best breakfast. Really recommend this place.

Pros: Excellent staff, nice and very helpful. I was travelling with my 10-month old baby and they did everything to accommodate us (crib in the room, high chair, etc).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The restaurant is outstanding. The staff so pleasant. I strongly recommend.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel with spacious grounds to relax in. Room was very comfortable and restaurant was lovely. Best of all were the staff - they were amazing when I had a medical emergency, helping me to access medical care and working with my travel insurers to help me be medically evacuated. All were very caring and kind, and went above and beyond - I was so appreciative of all their help and kindness.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Incredible relaxing hotel slightly further away from the main plaza than most of the other hotels and hostels in the town. The staff and facilities were great. Would definitely recommend!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, new and clean. With probably the best food in the restaurant in San Pedro de Atacama.
Cons: I liked it all
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This the best hotel we have stayed at in Chile in terms of value, service and cleanliness (and we live in Santiago). The restaurant TAIPAN is amazing and we ate there 3/5 nights- best value and excellent food. Our rooms were spotless and the reception staff were always so helpful and smiling! The grounds are so well kept and the pool was clean and refreshing after a long day of sightseeing. The rooms are spacious and have the most comfortable beds. No tv or fridge but we didn't miss those at all. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for a stay in San Pedro. We will most certainly be back!!
Cons: Housekeeping took our towels each day to replace, even though we left tham hanging (to save water!) A small issue though...
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really comfortable, incredible staff, there is a very good restaurant inside the hotel, which is a really good option considering that some days you are going to be exhausted after your tours. Besides that, they can provide you a kind of breakfast at early hours.
Cons: I was alone and during the night, coming back from dinner near Caracoles St, made me feel uncomfortable sometimes. It’s not far, but the Tocopilla St, were the hotel is located, is a little bit dark and empty street in some parts.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very easy walk into the main street. Rooms were very comfortable & staff very helpful.
Cons: One of the reasons we booked this property was because the add said that the hotel had a tourist desk. We felt this would be very helpful for our stay, however there isn't a desk & the staff were unable to book anything for us. The restaurant was very good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was extraordinary. Location was excellent - walking distance from centre of the town, but distant enough to avoid noise and crowds; staff was extremely kind and unimposing; the restaurant is the best in town: gourmet food, at excellent prices. Fresh, creative, delicious! Would recommend - or keep as a personal secret to be able to return!
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast. Bed. Livingroom. Restaurant. Free water all day. Free coffee all day. Free tea all day.
Cons: Only heat machine at the room, can’t control the temperature as we want. No TV at room. No TV at living room or restaurant.
Siete Colores Hostel - San Pedro de Atacama - Building

8.7 Excellent (694 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Siete Colores Hostel in San Pedro de Atacama, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of San Pedro Church and Plaza de San Pedro de Atacama. Featured amenities include luggage storage and a safe deposit box at the front desk.
7.5 Good
Pros: The host is very helpful and welcoming. The rooms was basic, about what you'd expect from a hostel, but clean. The hotel is just a few minutes away from the main road in town where the tour companies are situated.
Cons: One of the bed's springs had given out and wasn't comfortable.
7.5 Good
Pros: - staff is very friendly - very clean (and from what we saw, the clean the rooms very thoroughly) - nice outdoor area - WiFi is very fast (it was available the most time, but not always) - very good breakfast choice, although fruits would improve it further
Cons: Note: in the end, spent there 3 nights - shower was almost not usable: 1min brewing hot, 5min ice cold. On two or the three mornings, there was no water at all when you opened the hot water tap (we reported it the first time, to the resulta mentioned above). - room was very cold the whole day. There is a heater which the friendly staff turns on for you even if you come back late, but during the night the room cools down anyway. Opening windows and door during day doesn't help much. - only cash payment (but not really and issue) For us not worth the 50US$ per night for what we got (during the last 3 months Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia, we usually had better experiences for around 25US$ per night). And not what we hoped for after 3 Days in the freezing Uyuni Salt Flat (although the warm weather compensates).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location, comfortable bed, good breakfast. Great value for money. Plus, our host was very helpful and friendly. He helped us get in touch with our transfer service to Calama and organised breakfast earlier than scheduled. He is the host you want to have when in the desert :)))
Cons: We had hard time getting in touch with the place before getting there. The hostel personnel did not reply to emails and took us a while to try Whats up, which they replied very proprly.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It’s a nice place. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was nice. Close to bus station and a short walk to town.
Cons: Shower was either boiling hot or freezing cold.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were warmly welcomed by Gustavo who helped us during and after our stay in Siete Colores. The hostel was very clean and tidy and the decoration is truly pleasant! Our bedroom was very comfortable and the bathroom had all the necessary utilities. But, above all, what we truly liked was our host Gustavo: he helped us a lot during our stay in San Pedro de Atacama and was always ready to give us further support! Gustavo es genial!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We chose the place for it's proximity to the bus station as we had an early trip to Salta, and it worked well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Easy short walk into center of town.
Cons: Tiny bathroom but adequate. As we left around 6:30 a.m. they left us a basic ham n' cheese sandwich and instant coffee powder for breakfast, but I think it would have been the same even at regular hours. Lighting and ventilation was barely adequate in the room...but then who stays in the room in SPA?
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Extremely friendly owner who made us feel very welcome from the start. Spacious room and beautiful hot shower.
Cons: A little further into the centre of the town than some hostels but only 10-15 minutes walk and very handy for the bus station.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Gustavo is the highlight of this hostel: warm, friendly and smiley! The rooms and the whole place is super clean. The hostel is 5-10 min on foot from the center. The breakfast is served every morning ! Thank you Gustavo, you were by far the most precious thing that we saw in San Pedro de Atacama and you made our staying a beautiful experience to remember.
Cons: Please put heating in the rooms!
7.5 Good
Pros: Gustavo is a nice guy, ready to help with anything. Nice atmosphere, clean room.
Cons: Little bit further (7min walk) from the center but at least you walk a little before you go to bed:) On the other hand you have bus station on the half way to the center.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location is good, not on the main street but 5 min from “center” which is actually a good thing! Gustavo is a really nice host and helpful. You can ask him anything. It was no problem to book an additional night. Breakfast was great!

Cons: My Spanish!
7.9 Good
Pros: Very well located, 10min max walking distance from the center. The room was clean and convenient. The bed really confortable, which comes handy after a day trip in the desert! The breakfast is good and you have choice between salty and sweet food. They can make scrambled eggs upon request. The owner is really welcoming and here to help you during your stay. He organized for me the tours, recommended me places to eat and rent bike, and booked for me everything. This was really a pleasant stay. I recommend the place.
Cons: Honestly don’t know what to write here!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very kind and helpful, especially Luis. He helped me and my friends several times since we arrived. As he had rooms available, we were able to do early check in! Also, we had trouble with our tour company and he very quickly arranged an amazing guide which I strongly recommend you talking to him before closing any tour. The room is clean, there is hot water, breakfast is great! This was a lovely experience. If I come back, I would say there again!!

Cons: Sometimes the shower was cold but that only happened once.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Shower was really nice and the bed was comfortable
Cons: The wifi didn't work at my room because the biggest rooms are in the other side of the street
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room and the rest of the facilities were very clean and neat. The inn keeper was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good typical of more expensive hotels in Chile. We were even given a "to go" breakfast when we had to leave early for a tour.
Cons: The room we had was not air conditioned, and that was probably noted in the write up bu I did not see it. The room was warm when the sun was up cooled down during the night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, good food adorable people working there. Totally recommended
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I don’t have one single complaint about this Hostal, we absolutely loved it! The staff and facility are great. I travelled with a friend(female) and felt completely safe. Please be advised that when visiting San Pedro, excursions are very early in the morning (4:30am-6:30am) and in regards to the evening ones, you may be returning late (after 9:00-11:00). For this reason, I simply loved the fact that they have a side door so that other guests are not disturbed and gives you the freedom to leave/return early or late. If you’re looking to book excursions, they use a very good company but we decided to go into town to explore all of our options. This hostal is about a 10-15 minute walk from town, but we didn’t mind. This hostal offers transfers from and to the airport ($20000.00 pesos/pp) you pay when you arrive at the airport. I highly recommend having the hostal do your booking, as it is the same price you would pay at the airport when choosing any other company and you may have to wait until they can find you a spot in a transfer. There is no extra charge from the Hostal for the booking, simply provide your flight information and you are good to go! We arrived earlier than the check-in time but they received us at the Hostal and gave us our room right away(subject to availability, of course.) We booked a double room, it is small but very accommodating and enough for the both of us since we spent our days out exploring. Yes, the room was warm during the chilly nights. The washroom is right across the room; very clean and completely functional (hot shower, toilet paper, liquid soap and toilet flushed very well). They maintained this washroom spotless and odourless. There is a pool table, communal kitchen, outdoor dining area and a terrace that has a view of the mountains! The staff is amazing!!!! They took care of every single need we had. YES, I would stay here again. Muchas gracias chicos! Karla
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were fantastic, I had no Spanish and they little English but we worked it out easily. It was as advertised and good for the price payed
Cons: Nik
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The super friendly staff, that they had touristic information and the cleanliness of the place
Cons: Breakfast was not bad but I think could be better and and the location was some blocks from the Main Street - great if you want to be away from the noise but it was necessary the walk since everything is in that street.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good location, the room was big and clean, the staff is super friendly and helpful.
Cons: Breakfast is really basic, not too much to eat. Room doesn‘t get warm enough in winter and we didn‘t have hot shower for 2 days. The wifi connection is not very good.

Pros: Staff friendly and helpful, coffee and tea 24/7.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice large rooms, friendly staff and well organized daily trips
Cons: - wifi connection very bad - too expensive - swimmingpool has nothing to do with the pictures on the Internet
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and helpful staff. Breakfast was average, but one has to remember that Atacama is a desert city. The hotel is nicely located and rooms are spacious and quiet. Ask for extra heating if you feel cold at night and you will get it.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The rooms were very nice including a large shower and bathroom area
Cons: The pool area facilities were not at all as expected from the pictures on the website. The pool is very small with cracks in the bottom and was often full of bugs. We found setting up the excursions was also difficult and please note that they really only offer the private tours as they’ll tell you there aren’t enough people interested to have a group tour.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff how polite they were
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, not super central but close enough to the Main Street. Staff very friendly and nice, giving good suggestions and willing to help always. Rooms clean
Cons: We went in full winter (end of July) and the bedroom was quite cold during the day with the heaters off (even if we went out for excursions every day so we did not really feel it, it would have been nice to have a warmer room).
6.3 Good
Pros: Location is good.
Cons: Servicie was poor for a Hotel that aspire for this category. Breakfast was particularly bad. Grounds poorly kept. Music clearly chosen by the staff and completely inadequate for the ambiance of the Hotel. To sum up: full of good intentions but few deeds....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff friendly, welcoming and helpful. They brought me a cake and candles at breakfast on my birthday! Facilities were good, I had a lovely massage. The tour organiser, Cristobal, was excellent in sorting out our trips. We liked having a tea and coffee station available all the time. Very close to the Main Street. It had a very nice feel about it.
Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like.

Pros: Very comfortable beds and friendly owner. Speaks english sufficiently too

Pros: Location : Close to bus terminal. it takes a few minutes by walk. Staff : Really helpful. In addition, there is a cute and friendly cat.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfy beds, big lockers The owner was very helpful and caring. Nice terrace to stay outdoor when warm.
Cons: The bathroom, toilet walls with no privacy Not having a close common area to stay at night when it's cold
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room had a shared kitchen, which was really convenient. Tambo norte is located a little out of town, so it was very quiet, yet being just 5-10min walking distance to downtown. The bus terminal is just around the corner, as well as a cheap and delicious restaurant.
Cons: Unfortunately our room was in between other two and open towards the common areas. Otherwise good value for price in expensive San Pedro.
7.5 Good
Pros: Close to the bus station, clean, good wifi and usable kitchen.
Cons: People talk very loud and smoke by the windows, it’s very annoying.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I visited to ALMA observatory, and this hotel is very near for the meeting point that 1 minute by walk.
Cons: Hotel signboard could not see easy in the night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beds and pillows are so comfortable and the owner herself is so helpful and loving
Cons: NADA!!! Go here is cheap compared to the general price level in San Pedro
7.4 Good
Pros: The host, who is originally from Bolivia, was super nice and her Spanish was very clear, so I was able to understand everything she said, unlike most Chileans who speak lightning fast and have arguably the worst Spanish in Latin America. She was also very attentive, accommodating, and caring. She waited outside with me at 7:30am in the morning for a tour bus to come pick me up, because I wasn't sure if they were going to come. She's very sweet. Probably the best part of this hostel/hostal. Another plus was that the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean and they always had hot water. In San Pedro you can't always expect this.
Cons: I know it's San Pedro, and installations are lacking, but there was no heat in the hostal. So beware if you come in the winter. At night and in the morning it gets below zero degrees celsius. In bed I was fine because I had enough covers and she even offered extra blankets, but walking around the hostal at night and in the morning is freezing. Another downside is that you can't pay with credit card. ONLY CASH. They also don't give you a VAT refund. I already knew this beforehand. The walls are also paper thin so you hear everything outside in the shared areas and hear people in the other rooms. Luckily I always travel with earplugs so this wasn't a huge deal for me. In the end, San Pedro is really expensive and very rustic. Don't expect the comforts that you have at home in North America, Europe, and NE Asia. All in all, the landscape is amazing and it's worth spending the cash to see all the beauty and wonders that Atacama has to offer.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice host, comfortable bed.
Cons: Everything was ok.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean and tidy with nice hot showers. Next to town.
Cons: I really wanted to like this place it just had a hostile vibe. There were notes everywhere telling you what you can't do and the fines you'll get if you do something wrong, it really wasn't inviting. I changed hostels.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was super nice, she gave us a lot of recommendations for places to visit, where to eat, etc. We felt like home :) Everything was clean, there was hot water, it was quiet and warm during the night :)

Pros: We got this room at a good rate.
Cons: About as far away from the centre as can be. The woman who ran the place was very rude and dismissive. After constantly asking for cash payment she finally got the card machine out. Common kitchen area was locked.

The stress comunication with the staff is really more than any could like during his holiday.
