Cons: Due to the extremely positive feedbacks we expected something special, in our case the balcony was definitely a great surprise. Without that you get a normal 4* room without special comfort, cupboard or minibar (in our case). One negative aspect is certainly the breakfast room which is VERY small and narrow, luckily we had not booked any breakfast before.

I was afraid to take a shower, because it was ssooo dirty! it is not 30star hotel. I will not even give 1 star to it! The lamp in the toilet was blinking like at the discoteque and the staff did nothing to help us. Staff was not aatentive, not smily, they just didn't care about anything. The door of the toilet didn't close. Wallpapers were 3 cm from the walls. It is a peppergrass for 100 euro per night!!!

Pros: A fresh buffet breakfast is served each morning at the ' La Rotonde restaurant' but its a shame they have refurbished it recently, i was so badly wanting to see the Carousel in its glory which would have added to the quirkiness of the hotel. We sat on most days on the terrace, outside the restaurant to be able to enjoy the views, our table overlooking the Mediterranean sea. The food and the views were worth it !! The few best things about this hotel are its excellent location , its also beautifully decorated inside with art and antiques everywhere and has a beautiful period fully functioning lift from a by gone era of quality. They also have a relationship with the beach across the street so you are able to just walk a few steps and be on your sunbed in no time. From Grace Kelly and Micheal Jackson, from the Beatles to Liz Taylor, the list of internationally known stars that have graced the Negresco is impressive. This has been listed by the government of France as a National Historic Building and you can see it on most postcards of Nice .Your always in awe, thinking whether this is a Hotel or a Museum.

Unfortunately the bath tub drain cover was not working so it required a nail file to remove the cover to drain the tub.This was repeated every day of our stay without the staff fixing it! The room was not cleaned on returning in the afternoon and we were told by reception that we had to call for cleaning !The wall tiles had black mould which Is really unacceptable in a hotel of this class.also,our room had chipped paint around doors and peeling wallpaper trim.All in all,This hotel needs revamping.On the plus side, the location is the best in Nice.

Cons: Our Rivoli rooms were the nicely refurbished one albeit the air con was difficult to operate and the room was very warm. Also the staff at the check in was a tad bit grumpy maybe she had a bad day other that that , but other than that , it was great!!

Cons: The staff were very poor in responding to complaints - no apologies ever.My room smelled of mould ,to discover next day that there was a furnace type room opening into my closet,which did not have a door.On complaining ,I was given an excuse instead of an apology. Also,after staying 3 days,I was stopped by a security doorman on entering the lobby ,to question me if I was staying at the hotel. Very very upsetting and again ,after telling him yes ,no apology. Good staff should know the guests and be carful before causing an embarrassing moment. The service at breakfast was very poor and the buffet layout difficult to manage due to the tightness of the restaurant.

Cons: Had an incident where the staff told us our breakfast came with the room, then they later charged us for breakfast. Staff member said he never told us that, even though he gave us a tour of the breakfast room. We paid, but were surprised that the hotel basically accused of lying. A 4 star hotel at that price has clients like us who can afford breakfast, so it was strange that they made us feel as if we were trying to skip out on our bill. Other than that, we had a nice stay and the staff was very accommodating.

Pros: We have stayed here before - in fact last year. After long flight from Australia we find it convenient with good restaurants close by, easy walk along Promenade des Anglais and easy to pick up a rental car at the Nice train station. Breakfast was good and the staff pleasant.
Cons: We booked a Superior Room again but it was no where near as nice as the room we had last year. It was very shabby with chipped paint, skirting boards coming away at the wall and noticeable damp on the wall near the bathroom. It was smaller also.

The sliding door to the cupboard was stuck and didn’t move at all. The carpet was unclean with stain marks clearly visible. The bathroom had a hissing noise all the time. The water didn’t clear in the bathtub and just stayed there for half an hour. There were no amenities provided. No bathrobes. No slippers. And the towels had stinking smell. Overall just a horrible place. More like a motel than a hotel.

Asked to move rooms they said they were full but there were rooms available on their website and yours. Very expensive 5 star hotel, not happy , if we had been told we would have chosen a different hotel. This reflects in booking.com not just the hotel.

Cons: We have stayed at the AC hotel nice a few times now and after a 3 years away decided to stay again. The first thing that I noticed was the breakfast was not included I asked as I am a silver member would I get a discount on the breakfast and was told “no not at all” as the cost of the breakfast was so high we left each morning walked to a nearby café and had breakfast there. The first room we was given was very smelly, it smelt old and musty. The reception was very good and changed the room right away, the problem we had with this room was the bathroom roof was covered in black mould from the condensation when showering, we put up with this as we were only staying for 3 days. The biggest problem was by the pool, there is not enough sun beds on the roof and some of the beds have been changed to chairs or small sofas therefore if you did not get on the roof early enough we could do get a bed (maybe one bed here and one there but not two together). We had to get up early to make sure we could claim a bed before they were all taken. Finally one of the main reasons we have chosen this hotel was the roof was very quiet and relaxing but this time (I know children are existed and or also on holiday but the parents and the bar staff should respect other people are on holiday and are there to relax) a lot of children screaming, running around large inflatable toys in the pool. We could not swim without some kids jumping in on top of us or rubber toys in the way. Twice I had to ask the barman to turn the music down on the speakers round the pool as it was so loud I couldn’t concentrate on reading my book.

Cons: Our “king” bed was two twins pushed together, which I fell in between. Breakfast had a lot of choices, but many were gross. The scrambled eggs had a strange chemical aftertaste that I couldn’t tolerate. The airport shuttle we ordered was late, and when it arrived it wasn’t the right vehicle, which was too small to meet our needs. We had to wait for another shuttle to arrive, and when it finally did, we were told it would cost €20 more than we were quoted. Wow.

But nice is still a beautiful city.

Not at all suitable for light sleepers - Lamps, handles etc. were loose - Elevator ridiculously small - Not all of the standard 4 star hotel requirements are fulfilled (no upholstered chair/couch with side table, Hotelbar was only a very small fridge in the lobby, no cosmetic products like nail file and heating facility in the bathroom) - Breakfast in a small room with only a small variety of food and drinks (eggs must be boiled by oneself for example) - Corridors small and dark - Noises in other rooms are clearly noticeable - Chipping colour at many spots inside the room and the corridors - Broken lightbulbs weren’t replaced in the bathroom which made it even darker - On request only one out of two towels could be provided cause of lack of clean towels - One time use place mats at the breakfast room (not sustainable) - Minibar at the rooms = one little fridge on the floor with one free bottle of water All in all we stayed at 3 different rooms because of problems that couldn’t be fixed right away. No matter on what floor we stayed it was loud from the outside.

Cons: the doors were EXTREMELY loud even when you tried to close them carefully (which the cleaning staff did not). there were two signs for the door, one saying you wanted room cleaning and one saying you did not. we put the sign saying we did not want room cleaning and the cleaning staff opened our door anyways as we were saying we were in the room. the next night we tried putting no sign and they opened our door 3 separate times (the first at 10am) before calling our room to ask if we wanted room cleaning. the cleaning staff was extremely noisy and woke us up early every morning. the do not want cleaning sign said that if you refuse cleaning the hotel will provide drinks but instead they gave us one granola bar. the elevator also seemed a little rickety and was leery of using it

We paid extra for a deluxe room with patio and while the room was basically ok we were disappointed that there was a very high and wide step to climb over every time you wanted to go out onto your patio. Lovely to have a nespresso machine provided, however the allowance for two of us for a four night stay was 1.5 capsules each. After that you had to buy them from reception at a Euro each. Rather stingy to give you a machine but sell you the capsules at such a profit - we bought a pack locally at 4 Euros for 10.

Cons: 1) The room we had smelled like the sewer, literally, and it was damp. That meant every piece of fabric and linen smelled like the sewer. 2) The room was damp because the air conditioner did not work properly. It was kind of like a regular ventilator which does nothing against the heat and humidity. 3) When we explained the situation about the sewer smell and humidity to the admin we were told to wait until the next morning because cleaners had already left and our room could not be cleaned for other guests to take it - like what??? How could you give that room to someone? She didn’t bother to come and check out the situation, nor sent anyone, which confirms that this was not the first time they heard it. 4) During our stay we heard other guests complain regarding dripping taps and not being able to sleep because of that. 5) Breakfast choices were quite small but it was all edible of course - apart from the bacon one morning. Someone took a flamethrower to those slices and made sure that whoever felt cold in their hotel could use them as charcoal to light a fire in their rooms. 6) Everyone had to fry and/or boil their own eggs as well. There was a small pan for frying and boiling water - not sure what the hell that is about, never seen it before in other hotels. I didn’t know i had signed up to Gordon Ramsay’s Masterchef where i need to prove i know what to do with an egg. 7) Staff at breakfast were nice and polite, always smiling. 8) Towels were clean. 9) The room was worn out, you could see yellow in the bathrooms and there stripes, holes etc in the furniture and walls. 10) Last but not least as my 4G Roaming budget cannot take the full length of all the points on how this hotel could improve - it is way too expensive for what you get, even the cheapest rooms.

Cons: The staff was perfectly nice and they were helpful changing money and taking letters to mail. Perhaps they could have been slightly more engaging and enthusiastic when we checked in maybe asking if we wanted city recommendations but overall they were good and helpful when we wanted to leave our bags for a few hours before we left.

Cons: The pool was closed for maintenance when it is advertised as still open. The shower in the room had some serious mould in the floor.

Cons: The staff, except for the technician, were unfriendly and did not seem to be motivated by their work. The room was awful, carpet and all furniture very nagged. Did not look clean. The drain in the bath was clogged. The whole room (207) had not been renovated for at least 10 years (probably more).

Pros: The breakfast was good as was the setting - on the rooftop. The rooftop pool and bar was very cool and service was good. The location was excellent.
Cons: The air conditioning wasn't cold enough in the room. We did complain and an engineer was sent to fix the problem. It improved a little but not enough. It was very hot in Nice when we stayed and we wanted a nice cold room to cool off in. The shower was tiny and had no door. We would stay here again but would specifically request a cold room!

Pros: Unfortunately the WiFi was horrible while we stayed at this hotel. We called 3 times and they stated the WiFi was being rebooted, however the only reception was in the lobby and it was still was not working well. We had to resign on every time to even attempt to log in, however >90 % of the time it did not work. One of us had work to be done as well and had to leave to find a cafe with WiFi in order to complete the work. Overall, great location, staff friendly, fine rooms. We were woken up one morning by the cleaning staff before 9 am and they opened the door while we were sleeping.

Cons: Service is very bad, specially the receptionist Stefano, who demonstrate offensive behavior, was not polite, was aggressive and not professional at all! The manager tried to compensate negatives, but is is not possible. There was not any WiFi in the rooms, only at the lobby and close to elevators. Air condition was not working, telephone as well, so for everything we need to go down to the reception :(

Cons: We lost our parking pass and were told that we would have to pay a fine of $100 if we couldn't find it in 3-4 days. This seems unfair because we were not infromed that there would be a big penalty like that when we were given the pass.

Cons: We arrived slightly early c1.30pm and couldn't check in until 3pm. Initially staff weren't that welcoming considering we had just paid over 450 Euros for one night for a family room, albeit probably because we booked two days before arrival. Defintely not a 450 Euro per night hotel! Also found it quite noisey from road noise in the early hours, not helped by all the road works currently being undertaken directly outside the hotel. We arrived down to breakfast at 9.55am and were then told quite abruptly by the waitress that breakfast was closing and that we were too late. Despite this we grabbed a couple of croissants and fruit to take away and were confronted quite rudely by the waitress! She obviously was not experienced or trained to be customer facing and front of house!

My father FORGOT the shoes on the hotel, and my sister left on purpose 2 dresses because she didn’t want them anymore.. 1st of all no one call us to tell that we left our stuffs in the room, and 2nd, we called and talked about the shoes and the girl tell us that we didn’t left nothing on the room! But WE LEFT! 2 on purpose, and 1 shoes we forgot! The worst hotel in France... actually, in the whole world! I’ve never been treat so badly like in this hotel! My note for this hotel is 0! NOT RECOMENDED

Cons: Hmmm where to start? The room was so dated and old, and I mean everything from design to every single piece of furniture. the bed was extremely uncomfortable as if I was sleeping on the floor. Some pieces of the furniture seemed to be forced into the room! there are just not enough room for some pieces! I will upload a picture of the room door from the inside just to give you a taste of how old this place is. I just can't believe how this hotel is considered a five star hotel! I'm honestly very disappointed in Le Meridien. Staff was a bit busy and kept me waiting for quite some time, especially at the reception, they were all acting busy and they made me feel that I should be thankful that one of them attended to my need. That being said, the hotel is extremely overpriced. The value you get for your buck just does not match in any way, shape, or form. Never thought I would write such a negative review about a big brand name in hotels such as Le Meridien.
