Cons: I was facing the train station so it didn't feel very private if I wanted natural light. I'd suggest putting some of those diffusing curtains up as an option - in addition to the blackout ones.

Not really ethical for us to have to ask them. The hostel put papers on our beds reserving the lower bunks for us. Sinks and mirrors in room to brush teeth or comb hair. Lockers in rooms to secure gear. I didn't notice much secure storage in other hostels. table and chairs to eat or write at in room. No door slamming as in other hostels. Small washer and dryer but took 3 hours to do our laundry because we had to dry it twice. Euros 5.09 breakfast was scrambled eggs in a hot tray, cold cuts, toast, jam, Nutella, fruit, cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice, water. My American stomached brother loved it. Bar downstairs but we weren't interested.

Cons: - Evening staff were nowhere near as hospitable as the daytime staff. We asked for more tea and we were told “there is tea in your room”. They provide one English breakfast teabag per day for a room of 2 people. I do not see the problem in asking for more tea but we had to ask numerous times to be given more teabags. I did not understand why this was such a problem. - In the room they only provide cardboard cups rather than proper mugs. Im unsure as to why this is and not what I would expect from a 4* hotel. - Every-time I put the air-con on I heard a dripping sound. - The location of the hotel is close to the main station but the actual road it is located on is a bit seedy. There is a lap dancing club next door.

We felt completely comfortable walking to and from the hotel, even at night. The hotel is very clean, up to date and in tip-top condition. Our room had two twin beds and was fairly spacious by European standards, including a refrigerator, desk and two chairs. I especially liked that everything was included in the quoted price, even the items in the minibar. The included breakfast was by far the best I’ve had at a hotel.... and better than most restaurants. The dining area was spacious with many tables for guests. The food quality was not only excellent, but there was a wide variety of items to choose including eggs, bacon, several types of sausages, salmon, hams, cold-cuts, yogurts, fresh fruit, several types of rolls and pastries. I will definitely stay at the Mercure Hotel Altstadt my next visit to Munich.

Pros: The reception staff were friendly and welcoming and the bed was comfortable.
Cons: The pictures advertised for this hotel was not the room we got. We booked a double deluxe but there was nothing deluxe about the room. It was tiny, claustrophobic and it's view was of a cement courtyard with a lion figure it in, not one you could access or would want to. There was insurmountable amount of collated dust under the bed that triggered my asthma. The air conditioner couldn't be adjusted to below 19 degrees so we slept with the covers off. Also, the lighting in the bathroom was insufficient. Then to top it off, despite checkout being by 11am, we arrived back at the room at 10.45 to find we had been locked out. Would never stay again and need others to know that the pictures on booking.com are not a true representation of the rooms.

The plumbing was very modern, really high tech, and worked beautifully. The full breakfast was lavish, but pricey at 25€. We had the continental breakfast for 9€, which was very pleasant and quite adequate.

Cons: The only way to describe the room I got was "shoebox". I have stayed in small hotel rooms before bit this was on another level. The bathroom was so small that the sink was in the main part of the room. This of course took up a lot of space in a room that was already very small. I had no room to open my case wide or to place clothes, toiletries etc. Luckily we only stayed for the 1 night otherwise I would have gone mad. Also, as a side note, there seems to be some kind of bottle bank or rubbish centre around the side of the hotel. I'm guessing this as the noise of smashed glasses echoed through the room from 5a.m. onwards which wasn't ideal!

It didn’t make the room very cool so we had to sleep with the windows open and that seemed to cool it down but because it was cool when we arrived it was possible but if it was hot I don’t think we could have slept. Rooms are small but everything you need for a room to sleep in. Bathroom water pressure great but caused some flooding on the floors.

The rooms are just ok, its quite dark, and as you take shower the water lickes all over the toillet and goes into the room, which is quite inconvenient speacially when you are sharing room with others. I would not recommend this place unless its for the valeu for money and location, which is quite central.

Cons: I love the hotel location and the staff seemed nice enough. However, our room had no AC or Fan so we had to sleep with the windows open and oh my God, it's just by a busy street so cars pass by, loud motor bikes too and lots of drunks, druggies and gamblers kept passing by talking and making loud noises downstairs. I tried closing the windows but we were suffocating. Sleeping with so much noise was impossible. The early hours of the morning had gabbage trucks making so much ruckus with bottles etc. The street sweeper too was like it was inside the room.

Cons: Because the night was warm and the room had no air-conditioning, we needed to keep the windows open. Also, the late check-in time (3 PM) is inconvenient for travellers, forcing us to leave the luggage in a generic lockup with minimal security.

Cons: Very stuffy rooms. No air conditioning or fans in the room. We were able to get a tiny personal fan from reception, but it didn’t do a whole lot. Our room was able to be seen from the neighbouring bar/restaurant, which didn’t feel very private. The pillows were old and worn. We asked reception for extra pillows, but were later told they had none spare to provide us with. We booked a double room. Our bed was two single beds pushed together - which isn’t uncommon. Generally the beds are made together as one ‘double bed’ but it was just two single beds pushed together, with two seperate blankets. It wasn’t horrible, but wasn’t what I was expecting.

Cons: staff is not listening, properly, poor English, bed bugs (!!!), carpet is so dirty, it is so loud even with closed windows, they don't change the towels, they don't give everyday a new shampoo/bodywash liquid (other hotels do)., it is smelling awful (fungus)

Cons: The place was dirty the carpets were torn shower was so dirty my wife wouldn't use it . Basically horrible. Car park was 600m away and very expensive
