Overview Reviews

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Rooftop pool, helpful reception staff with great English
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We like how clean and modern it was. The shower in our room was amazing. Aircon worked great and bed was comfortable. Very clean room. Great location, right next door to Suria Sabah shopping mall. Bed was huge, which worked well as myself, my husband and our 2 year old were all sharing! Staff were friendly and we even got a complimentary upgrade!
Cons: Parking isn’t well explained/advertised. Some of the staff didn’t fully understand English when we tried to call down for room service. Slightly overpriced especially for breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, spacious rooms, nice view from pool
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great! Connected to a mall with a easy assess in and out. Room is spacious and pillows are comfortable. Good shower pressure.
Cons: Housekeeping did not go clean thoroughly. Found the leftover food most likely from the previous guests at the corner of the room. Private parking is charged at 10ringgit per day. One of the receptionist doesn’t make me feel welcomed, promised to call me when room available as we arrived earlier but did not. Nice rooftop bar with pool, stated there opened at 8am, however there’s no staff around until 845am.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location was good and close to the jetty
Cons: Too dirty coz I found many garbage under the sofa
6.8 Good
Pros: Rooftop swimming pool.
Cons: Room not as clean as I would expect of a 4 star hotel. Broken fixtures in the bathroom.
6.3 Good
Pros: Great sea view from our room. Room service food was excellent.
Cons: Room was functional and cheaply decorated with poor lighting. Breakfast buffet had a huge selection but most of the “hot” dishes were cold
7.5 Good
Pros: Goog location
Cons: I have found some garbage under the sofa
7.5 Good
Pros: Spacious
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location was the deciding factor that made me choose this hotel. Situated adjacent to Suria Shopping Mall, it is really convenient to eat, shop and stroll around for trinkets.
Cons: Breakfast was really not up to the standard. Food was basically tasteless, like taken out from cans. Did not refill in time and we had to wait for enough food. Banquet staff should be trained well, some just stood there to greet but didn't direct us to a vacant table. The reception was better, ever helpful and all smiles.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staffs. Spacious, clean and comfortable room. Beautiful sunset view on the rooftop
Cons: Certain guests were smoking on the non-smoking designated floor. It would have been even more pleasant if the Non-Smoking policy was properly enforced by the hotel Manager.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Food was excellent, breakfast and evening buffets. Staff were all superb, everybody we met was friendly and helpful.
Cons: Some prebooked activities cancelled with no prior warning.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was a relaxing break on a beautiful island we saw lots of fish snorkelling, beautiful sea and staff couldn't do enough for you, so friendly and helpful, also very peaceful The shuttle boat was a great service and very efficient we went over to the private beach which was beautiful definitely recommend this
Cons: We were in room 916 it was up a very steep hill and lots of other villas also, which was fine for us but may not be for everyone. The food and drinks was lovely but very expensive compared to the rest of Borneo but it should be expected as in a tourist spot!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved it! I went with an old friend and we had a perfect weekend. The service was fantastic, the resort was beautiful (and so was the beach), and there were just enough activities to keep us busy when we weren't reading by the pool. Looking forward to going back.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were great, Ramesh, Sylvester, Mary and Annie along with all the other staff really went out of their way to make our stay special. The location is great set on an island with the tropical forest surroundings, we saw monkeys, pigs, and lizards. The snorkeling off the beach was really good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is stunningly beautiful and has been designed in a thoughtful and eco-friendly way. We stayed in a Kinabalu suite which offered great views of the city. Although each room is one of four in a "unit", we barely noticed that there were other people staying in close proximity. The bath was a real treat (even if it took a long time to fill up!) complete with bath salts provided. There were many little touches which we really appreciated. The food, especially the Japanese, was very good albeit pricey. I would recommend taking the boat (and doing the jungle walk!) to the private beach, although we really loved relaxing by the pool too. A great place for a few days of rest, relaxation and catching some serious rays.
Cons: The fee for the boat over to the island (which must be paid, there is no other way of getting there) is very expensive for what is a 15-minute boat ride. The cost of food is also pretty pricey as well, but so long as you're mentally prepared for it, it's fine. The pool bar has less expensive food available until 7pm and a great happy hour from 5-7pm!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hotel of empathy and true family atmospher. Feeling home. Marvelous service and warm kindness. Protecting and preserving nature. Wonderful pice of Malaysian friendliy hostage and culture.
Cons: Some chinese guests without habbits and loud.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was very good. The food was excellent and the staff good. Location was great
Cons: The snorkelling trip wasnt very well explained and was overpriced for what some of our team did.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were fantastic especially Mr.Ramesh.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: There is so much to do and see here. We saw wild hornbills, macaques, bearded pigs, water monitors, a tree viper, and many types of birds, lizards, and, yes, bugs. The staff is delightful. The resort is integrated into the landscape so you only see a bit of it at a time, lending to a relaxed jungle feeling. The snorkeling is great is you ask where to go. The food is delicious and abundant. Just looking at the water, and the view of KK and Mt Kinabalu is incredibly soothing.
Cons: Very buggy - lots of bites even with the insect repellent they provide.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved this place. The food was amazing, everything was perfect. Scott the marine biologist is great. All the staff were lovely and helpful. We loved it and would definitely come back.
7.5 Good
Pros: Some members of staff really nice. The Cook, Justin and Mr Ramesh for example.
Cons: Felt a bit crowded by the pool.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were fabulous. They were always helpful, friendly and accommodating. The grounds of the resort are beautiful. The view and sunset from our room was spectacular! The Sunset bar was a great experience aswell. What I didn’t like was that the breakfast situation in the mornings. The breakfast was served in a large area called Cafe Tatu. My husband, myself and our five year old son arrived for breakfast the first morning of our stay. The place was that loud and crowded. When we were provided a table, we sat down and realised that we were in the middle of what I describe as Chinese/Korean hunger games! Seriously, we have never witnessed anything like this. The amount of people, the jossling for food, the loudness, the rudeness of the other people waiting, crowding around food stations. Honestly, we were so turned off that we complained. We accepted an offer to have a breakfast in the club lounge which was so much better. The club lounge was far more civilised and intimate for breakfast. We were looking for peace and tranquility at this resort and you don’t get that. Even in the pool, there were large numbers of Chinese/ Korean people that were in the pools with life jackets on. So in turn, the life guards were blowing whistles every minute and calling out to them regarding safety breeches in the pool. There was no peace or tranquility at this resort. It’s a huge resort and next time we will know better and opt for a smaller resort.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I like the location, very beautiful, breakfast was delicious with various food.
Cons: It is time to replace the carpet in the room, it's very filthy and the room smells bad because of it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Thanks Cameron,He is very nice and help us to upgrade seaside view. An excellent living experience in KK. And we love the beautiful sunset at the bar. :)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Well-equipped rooms Nice fitness room Friendly staff
Cons: Too expensive to eat at restaurants. Common areas, hallways, elevators worn out and had scuff marks. Too crowded with families with noisy children, no quiet areas or sofistication. Too many selfies being taken and selfie sticks everywhere! Breakfast area is chaos and crowded and not a nice and relaxing start of the morning. One morning there were no cups to be found anywhere. We had booked a room with ocean view but we faced the golf putting area, not much ocean in sight (Tanjung wing).
6.8 Good
Pros: Not much of choice to eat No ventilation in bath room
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It's a great family resort especially we came with young kids. swimming pools are fun and we can stay whole day in the pool area! Food are ok, staff are quiet friendly and helpful. Room are spacious and comfortable, big bath and nice shower. check in and check out was quick and easy. Breakfast spread was awesome!
Cons: a little bit out of city center but it was not a major problem.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location.amenities .swimming pool
Cons: staff on the beach prices of tours The club lounge lizards at the balcony
5.0 Okay
Cons: The rooms in the Kinabalu wing are very dated and scruffy. Not what you expect from 5 star hotel at all. More like 3 star
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The setting is beautiful and although there are plenty of tourists, the compound is vast with wonderful views.
Cons: It was a little too busy for our liking eg the pools were full of people, making it less relaxing in atmosphere.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything exceeded my expectations.
Cons: Property had too many mosquitoes at dusk.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place in the perfect location. The common area is large, bright, airy and comfortable, and the staff really helpful and friendly. Our room was good, with excellent air con, and the bathrooms really clean and well kept (as is the whole place). Help yourself to free tea and coffee all day, and a good breakfast is included. I really can't fault this hostel. Highly recommended.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful in organising tours and 24 reception was ideal.
Cons: Breakfast was basic, only toast with a sweet jam and some fruit.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location, nice room ! Tea coffee and water available for free
Cons: The breakfast is really basic.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Localization is perrfect on Gaya street. Friday to sunday there are markets with food Street, local products. Nearby there are many restaurants and shops. Room was better than I expected, there was everything I needed, and AC. But no window. Bathroom is ok, hot water. There is a spacious lobby space with some plants, I liked it very much. Drinking water available for free. Fridge available. Staff was very helpfull, specially Alexa, thank You for your advices and care. Hostel is very close to local bus station (ex. small buses to Mt Kinabalu Park, direction Ranau, in the morning every half an hour).
Cons: There is poor information on a building. You have to look carefully. Entrance is from both sides, both streets. Hostel is on a first and upper floor, no lift. A bit loud while weekends due to market and concerts. Same with thin walls. Very poor breakfast, all days the same 4 things and coffee only instant :(
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice location directly in the city.helpful staff
Cons: Next to a busy road
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hostel was clean and the staff were very friendly. It was close to the city centre and had a comfortable, spacious room to hang out in. It was very accommodating for a hostel for both food, help with the local area and problems that may arise.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean room, toilet and surroundings. Friendly receptionist. Water and breakfast provided.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff are so friendly, welcoming and happy to help with anything. The room was clean and the bed was comfy.
Cons: The only issue we came across (and this is not the fault of the hostel itself!) was that the night market was very loud outside on a Saturday night when we needed an early night for a 2am start on that’s Sunday morning!!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The address is perfect
Cons: The quilt is too thin to cover. If you open the air conditioner .it will be too cold.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff. They let me be lazy in the hostel. Especially Alexa is so intelligent that I enjoyed conversation with her. Cleanliness is impeccable. Spacious airy lobby to chill out. Spacious airy dormitory room with 3 fans. I like fanned room without air conditioning. Papaya for breakfast is nice. It's on walking distance from a big market for fruits and vegetables, waterfront, sunset view point, Jesselton ferry jetty and bus stops for airport shuttle.
Cons: Noise from the street and roads, especially on Saturday evening. Loud music from the reception. A shelf for ornaments is too close to the table for breakfast. Buddha statue in front of a toilet. It could offend Buddhists.
The Magellan Sutera Resort - Kota Kinabalu - Building
6
8.7 Excellent (4,694 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at The Magellan Sutera Resort in Kota Kinabalu (Downtown Kota Kinabalu), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Sabah State Mosque and Sutera Harbour. Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the equipment, the service of the staff
Cons: It will be better if there are more city-hotel shuttle bus
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pure luxury! A lovely base to explore KK from. I accidentally left my phone in a Grab taxi just before we checked out. The staff at reception together with the Help desk at Grab, and the driver herself combined to get my phone back to me. This was over and above expectations and much appreciated.
Cons: The only minus of our stay was the music blasting of an afternoon from the outdoor bar area by the pool...no-one seemed to be enjoying it except perhaps a few bar staff. It spoiled the lovely setting a little bit.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It has everything you need, restaurants, bar, swimming pools and close to the country club where you can find gym & activities such as bowling. Rooms are a little dated but very spacious and Black our curtains at night.
Cons: Very noisy in common areas, bustling with people and kids all the time.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We stayed 8 nights & overall I could not complain one bit about the Magellan. We did have a problem with the air conditioner in our room so they upgraded us for 5 nights in one of the best rooms. The original room was fantastic but the upgraded room was out of this world. Large bedroom & living area (separate) with an ensuite & a powder room. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
Cons: Only the A/C problem in the initial room. Otherwise it was sensational
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Reasonable price.
Cons: There were some ants.
6.3 Good
Pros: Nice beachfront resort, rooms were spacious with a nice view, they also had a beautiful pool.
Cons: Extremely disappointed with the service upon check-in. Arrived during a terrible downpour and was told by the staff that i had to park my car and walk from the car park in the rain. After checking in, eventhough many staff were around us, we had to carry our own luggage to the to room. Disappointing that a 5 star resort would treat their clients as such.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The pool and public areas were great but the room was run down - broken toilet seat, fraying and stained furniture, one towel per guest and rotten wood surrounding the basin- and not what one would expect of a 5 star hotel. Very disappointing
Cons: The bedroom we had urgently needs renovating, repairing and upgrading. A second (small) towel per guest is not unreasonable for a five star hotel and a functioning toilet seat is also expected by guests
7.0 Good
Pros: Lovely breakfast spread although the crowds were a bit daunting. We however always got a table quite quickly and ate to our fill. a good selection of facilities and activitieson site. Staff were very friendly and courteous. All the meals we ordered for room service were excellent. Housekeeping were excellent.
Cons: Cocktails and drinks at Nariks bar were terrible. Live band was great although could start earlier. Food at the bar was a bit disappointing. Property could do with a face lift as our room seemed to have seen better days. When we first enquired about tourist attractions and activities in the area, the receptionist told us there was no information about this...we later found a desk where we could book activities..was a bit surprising that the receptionist would not have know this. When we checked in,past midnight the day we arrived,we were just directed to where our room was and not escorted...the hotel is big so we go a bit lost initially.could have been helped. I think given the cost, the hotel can afford to polish up.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: -the breakfast is good, they have a menu of local delights for your to choose. Of course , you have to wait a bit long if they are many people. - the high tea is worth to try, you also can enjoy the beautiful sunset ! -the location is quite good, near airport and the shopping centre Imago

Cons: Water pressure no strong, aircon temperature is fixed, could not adjust, kinda hot
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful surroundings, comfortable rooms and EXCELLENT staff
Cons: Outside is filthy! You can hardly see through the grime on the windows and window ledges are covered in debris. Very limited wardrobe and drawer space for longer stays.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Upgrade. Ocean view. Staff. Food service.
Cons: Definitely do not like not having a chest of drawers. Every other hotel around the world provides drawers for their guests clothes. A big let down.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a beautiful property and the staff were superbly helpful.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Quick efficient staff, good restaurants, clean rooms, adequate space in the room, central location
Cons: 2 of 4 elevators not functioning but didn’t have to wait too long though

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The service staffs were all very helpful, very warmth & welcoming. Will definitely return & recommend le Meridien to friends .
Cons: Should provide welcome drink.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff and management extremely helpful, and made the stay a real treat. Whilst the pool area was being renovated, an offer to use a sister hotels facilities was provided without hesitation - really appreciated.
Cons: Rooms are a bit tired and need a refresh. Limited light in the room, made reading in the evening near impossible.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The dine in dinner. I was order a local food mee goreng mamak. The taste was very nice. With a fresh of big prawn. Suitable with the location which is in front of the fresh market of seafood.
Cons: During my 2nd day. At the shower room it was an insect came out from the water hole. Not very bad but need to take some action about it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast spread was awesome. The location is also very good, walking distance to the market and night market.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean and spacious room and toilet with comfortable bed Breakfast spread was superb
Cons: The tap at the sink is so low and close to the floor of the sink that its hard to clean baby bottles and fill the kettle I requested for the hotel to keep my container of milk at the hotel freezer and when it was returned to me, the container smells of rotten fish. Hopefully the hotel could consider investing in new freezer to keep milk only
6.5 Good
Cons: I wanted to change my itinerary and bring my hotel stay a day forward, from the 21st to the 20th. I offerred to pay the difference in rate if any. Hotel staff told me they cannot do that for me as booking was made via a third party. It was actually made via a fourth party as Kayak outsorced it to getaroom.com. The actual helpline indicated in the booking email (469-675-5368) was possibly run by a fifth party. They were utterly unhelpful with my request to change the booking date by a day, even though I did offer to pay any difference in price. Rigidly cited some sort of policy. I went back to the hotel staff in person and tey also continued to refuse to help. The consequence was that I had to book another hotel for the 20th, did not stay at Le Meridien on the 21st and my money was wasted. I will not be booking via Getaroom ever again and I will be avoiding Le Meridien.

7.0 Good
Pros: Though in the day, they are lot's of island hopper coming and leaving the island. It's actually still very private for hotel guest. Love the nature and layout of the resort.
Cons: AC piping along the ceiling leak throughout our stay. Lots of sandflies and got bitten all over the body. Lot's of rubbish washed to the shore.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location with beautiful view over the sea. Private beach area with sunbeds and beach towels included. Great restaurant with good seafood. Dive center available with excellent service and the diving was great too.
Cons: Internet was not available in the rooms and very slow in reception and in the restaurant. Be prepared for a big number of day-guests on the public beach area between 10am to 4 pm.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location and friendly staff
Cons: Wifi needs some upgrade
4.5 Okay
Cons: Personally I worked in various resorts, so I know how they allocate rooms based on their nationalities or guest types. I never expected to have had a family connecting room with a couple upstairs from the same country, which could arise a lot of inconvenience. Let me clear this problem. First, the beach house is made of wood and I could hear every step from the upstairs. Although the kind couple who stayed upstairs were super careful, still we had to endure the consistent noise until the late night. A family connecting room is NOT FOR a couple and other guests from the same country. As I traveled with my mum who had retired recently, I even emailed them to be a bit more considerate for her to have a good sleep and stay. But the result? The family connecting room with the guests who you NEVER met in your life but arranged as they were from the same country. (I double checked the room availability for the same room type and some rooms were vacant during my entire stay, so please don’t say that the hotel was fully booked) Second, the boat didn’t leave on time to wait for other guests staying at a luxury beach house (the most expensive one). Please don’t simply lie or make an excuse filling the fuel or whatsoever, everyone got there on time without even finishing drinks and you just had to make us wait without any clear explanation. Obviously, we had to carry our languages and left behind unattended while the staff went out of their way to help the expensive room guests. In this case, you could have arranged a private boat for them. Everyone felt quite unpleasant and teated extremely differently. Last but not the least, no one replied on the boat arrangement. Every F.I.T guests comes all they way from their country being a bit worried about the booking. When no one replies regarding the boat arrangement, they are frustrated as thinking something goes wrong.
7.5 Good
Pros: Overall, especially live band
Cons: Nil
9.5 Excellent
Pros: My family and i had a very good time at manukan island, and thanks to einstem‘s team. It's a wonderful experience when we open our door and just walk a few pace towards the beach, and we enjoy snorkeling and food in BBQ restaurant.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bed was so comfy & it was a wonderful experience at the sunset point!
Cons: The beach is a bit dirty.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Mandarin Hotel in Kota Kinabalu (Downtown Kota Kinabalu), you'll be steps from Gaya Street Sunday Market and 8 minutes by foot from Suria Sabah Shopping Mall. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, multilingual staff, and an elevator (lift).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Nice n Clean rooms
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good location, just at the entrance of the night market. And contrary to some other hotels in the area we were not bothered by the noise !(but we did not have any window)
Cons: There is no restaurant in the hotel, but being located in Gaya street, there are plenty of restaurants/eateries around, so it's not really a problem.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: (*) Friendly and helpful staff. Due to unforeseen circumstances on my way to KK, I had to ask for an upgrade to a room with fridge (deluxe queen) as the standard single room I'd originally booked didn't have one. Although the room was only available the day after, great coordination among front desk staff made the room change went smoothly. (*) Excellent location. Could walk around the block without worrying about rain. Eateries, souvenir shops aplenty; convenience store around the corner, supermarket just a block away. (*) Free airport drop-off service was very much appreciated. (*) Comfortable beds, both in standard & deluxe rooms. (*) I really liked it that the hotel provided Sabah Tea for the in-room complimentary tea. It gave a very local touch.
Cons: (*) Not all rooms had mini fridge. In the deluxe room where it was available, the fridge would also turn off when the key card was removed from the power slot. (*) The window in the standard single room seriously needs fixing. It didn't even close properly. (*) Shower was only half-partitioned, both in the standard & deluxe rooms. (*) Both rooms were a bit too dark. Another lamp should be installed over the luggage rack. (*) Corridors were narrow.

Pros: all
Cons: nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Its' strategic location - it's at the city centre and in the middle of all the tourists attraction.
Cons: Parking - it's so so difficult to find a parking around this area. We had to wait until late in the evening to check in at the hotel. The hotel is much more suitable for guests who are not driving.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff friendliness, every time when you walk in, they will greet you..The rooms are all fine and clean....no other issues
Cons: The Manager did not take any effort in communicating with the guests, they just say hello. I have been staying for the past three visits, also my last visit when they send me to the airport, no communication was created, i think maybe due to language barrier.. they only say thank you at the airport and no ' hope to see you again' Cheers..
8.8 Excellent

Cons: A bit noisy

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and helpful staff
Cons: WiFi didn’t work in the room, only reception. Poor connection
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and clean. The staff are friendly and would always greet you. We liked the hotel’s initiative of reducing plastic bottles by providing drinking water in glass bottles in the room. The location is quite convenient being close to Gaya St, Suria Mall, Jesselton Point and the KK waterfront. Endless food options nearby but Woo! Cafe was our favourite cafe within the vicinity. There are lots of banks nearby too so never have to worry about looking for an ATM.
Cons: The view from our room isn’t the most inspiring. Mattress is quite firm (Asian style) and laundry is expensive (ended up going to a nearby laundromat) but that’s about it.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is good for local food hunting.
Cons: All our cards, totally 3 rooms, are deactivated at 11 something before we check out. We stay at room 116 for 5 nights. Room 116 has regular noise at 06:30 every morning. Sounds like engine noise.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Big room, good value for money, great location for bars and restaurants for backpackers
Cons: Bed was a little uncomfortable
7.5 Good
Pros: What impressed me most about the hotel is its environmental friendliness....using glass water bottles and bins made of recycled paper The front desk team were welcoming face whenever we walked into the lobby Good location with key attractions within walking distance

Pros: The check in receptionist is very friendly and they allowed us to check in before the check in time. I managed to check in as early as 10am as they were available room. The room and the toilet is big. The swimming pool is ok considering a pool in a CBD. The breakfast spread was up to expectation, quite a good spread. The surrounding is all within walking distance. Gaya Street Sunday market is just opposite the hotel building. Getting a grab car to move around is convenient and cheap if you are lazy to walk.
Cons: The hotel is a little worn out and some renovation needed to be done. Room cleaning is slow. Some guest left the room widely open after they check out, its not the guest problem, but the staff need to be alert and check all times. Room Service not cleared immediately. Hotel reputation on these matters might affect its rating.

Pros: Location was good, central and an easy walk to the waterfront and into town. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Cons: Nothing

Pros: I was in a club room with access to the club lounge on the 11th floor. Facilities and food were excellent. Nice views of the harbour from the room and a very modern fit out.
Cons: One morning the club lounge was flooded and we were diverted to the main breakfast restaurant. This was very unpleasant, crowded with rude aggressive tour groups. Almost all food options were not available.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location and the room
Cons: Too many people. The breakfast area looks like a school canteen. The swimming pool area is not very relaxing (close to the streets with the cars noises)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - GREAT: WiFi, staff, room, view, facilities! - Pool was nice and not crowded! Staff was GREAT. Could see ocean from room window (10th floor). Waters and room cleaning given EVERY day. 24 hr laundromat nearby!
Cons: The breakfast was REALLY bad. The food is such low quality, often not refilled, completely random selections that do not go together (I'm American and wife is Chinese. We both agree.) Got food sickness on day 2! BEWARE the neighborhood!!! My wife's phone was stolen by a pick-pocket from the local mall (Centre Point). We caught them on security camera and filed a police report. Security at the mall could identify the thieves. Police officer assigned did NOTHING! Do not rely on the local police! Our officer is worse than the thieves, taking tax money to do NOTHING even though we gave all arresting information necessary + evidence!
5.0 Okay
Cons: Staff attitiude was not up to mark compared to the rate and the status of the hotel, Counter staff very tired and they shd not sit,,,

Pros: Location Very clean Beautiful pool and beach Many options for food - restaurants/cafes/bar
Cons: Long wait time at cafes/ bars for service Many of the staff were very slow and got overwhelmed easily
6.3 Good
Pros: Rooms and the view from balcony is outstanding. It is a huge hotel. There are lots of swimming pools ( but they are only 1,5m deep each). I dont like golf but if you do so there is a huge golf field.
Cons: There is no beach at this hotel. There are 2 men made `beach like` places but they are 10m wide each. Maximum 10 people can use it in the same time. If you want beach do not stay in this hotel . Go to Nexus or some other hotel with a proper beach.. If you insist to stay here then there are boats to islands hourly. I suggest you to go to islands to swim. Also foods are expensive. Water sports staff on the boats are unkind. ( the ones in the marina was very kind) .
6.7 Good

7.0 Good
Pros: The room is really nice and clean, they also provide shuttle bus to city, really thoughtful. At night, there is a live singing show in the lobby lounge, it was also good.
Cons: The time of checking in was too long and the staff of front desk was a bit careless. However, it was not a big deal, for the staff, overall, I would say, they are quite good and professional.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had a deluxe room so plenty of space, two comfortable armchairs, roomy bathroom and view out over the street. The room was quiet and we had a sound sleep each night. The staff are super friendly and very professional. The Jesselton Hotel had an interesting history and is the oldest hotel in town, circa 1954. All but 2 buildings in town were destroyed during WW2. Its perfectly situated near to some great cafes, tasty local restaurants and huge Malay and foreigner shopping centres. Both are exceptional. We enjoyed our stay here and are returning in two weeks. Highly recommended.
Cons: All good.
7.5 Good
Pros: Its very convenient because the hotel is surrounded by banks, convenience stores that opens 24 hours, food and all. Nothing particularly fantastic however the room is clean enough, but small and tight as well for the price paid. It kinda feels claustrophobic a little. The restaurant opposite do have some nice good non halal food though.
Cons: Convenient in the heart of the city. Don't expect too much.
10.0 Excellent

Asked for a deposit which was 300 MYR more than the total price. Overall extremely disappointing and very worrying. Took up a lot of time to sort out. I would make a point of NOT staying at this Hotel again. An unpleasant experience and really felt like these people are determined to rip you off unashamedly. The nice little pool area is newly renovated (finished in June) and a very nice hang out. They have a gym. Spacious rooms with good working AC. Overall a great value for money and we would go back if visit KK again.
Cons: Four out of approximately twelve machines in the gym were "temporarily" out of order. There was a hole in our ceiling (room 813) from which water was dripping onto the floor. We arrived at 2 pm and did not get our towels until 6.30 pm. We had to ask THREE times. Wifi not in the rooms, only in the common areas like the lobby, restaurant, gym and pool area.
