6.0 Good
Pros: Hot Spring
Cons: Food
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The place is on top of the hill, you would need transport. Walkng around the town was nice. The golden water was really superb and everything was clean and it was expensive for the price because it only included breakfast. But for the privacy of the private onsen and room 311 is really nice, its worth an indulgence. There were free drinks at the lobby and selection was v good
Cons: because of its size, it lost a bit of its Japanese boutique feel.
7.1 Good
Pros: the dinner and breakfast were good. Staffs were friendly.
Cons: The room is smaller than I expected and experienced in other Onsen Ryokans. The staffs were very busy with too many guests. Actually comparing with other Onsen places, with the money we spent, it could be more. Arima is not so nice, as it sounds like.

Pros: Everything. The staff was outstanding. I’ve never felt so pampered.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great Ryokan with charming onsen and amazing food. Very Highly recommended.
Cons: evening life is a bit dead

Cons: Overall experience is great, I have nothing that I dislike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room and bath facilities were excellent. Staff were very courteous and attentive. The service was impeccable.
Cons: There was nothing to not like.
7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent location. Within walking distance of rail/bus stations and main shopping streets. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was neat, tidy and very spacious.
Cons: Food was OK but not remarkable compared to other onsen ryokans we’ve stayed with. There was not much of a view nor too much privacy at the open air baths (whether public or in-room), as there were many buildings around the hotel. Layout of the room was a bit odd as the private bath and the shower area were located at opposite ends of the room.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our stay in tocen goshoboh very much. We are indeed very grateful to Hashismoto-San for his outstanding services given to us during our stay 3 nights stay. I have to specially mentioned Hashismoto-San for his extreme genuine assistance and help he had provided us. He even went extra miles to help and direct us the various locations during our trip in Arima.
Cons: elevator would be a plus.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything else. :) Especially the hospitality of moving luggages to rooms and proper guidance to all facilities and manners.
Cons: No option for nakai-san in the Chikyu room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Onsen is so nice. The service is so good. Dinner and breakfast are so delicious.
Cons: This hotel doesn’t have elevator. so you have to walk up to the stair. No worried about the lugguage they can pick up for you.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a famous place, so there's not much I will add to it - stay here for a touch of history, it's truly spectacular and with a gorgeously unique onsen. The rooms are super spacious for ryokan, and the futons are very comfortable.
Cons: A couple of members of the staff were a little rude. An old guy at the front desk in particular, and especially at check-in. Ruined the overall first impression, but nothing major!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff and good response from them when we need the shuttle service from bus station. Overall excellent service
Cons: None
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent dinner and breakfast. My traveling companion has a little difficulty eating cooked fish, but the staff substituted the fish dishes for beef, which made my companion very happy.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staffs are very nice
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything else. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Free shuttle to and fro town was very convenient for us. Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Good to have the small basin in the room so we can wash up without going to the shared bathroom outside. Food was DELICIOUS and served in very hearty portions. Overall, wonderful experience!
Cons: Shared bathroom was rather inconvenient for the elderly, and the onsen (shared shower) could be a little dangerous as it can get slippery.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food and service at dinner and breakfast were not only beautiful, but delicious, too. Room was comfortable, clean and spacious. Lighting inside the room was well planned.
Cons: The only drawback, which was a minor one, was not having a private toilet or shower inside the room, or close by. It was a short walk down a hall.
7.1 Good
Pros: The friendliness of the owner
Cons: The onsen facilities. To get a bath in iron water one hes to walk uphill, in the cold. When getting there the baths is disappointedly small . The iron bath can only fit comfortably 2 persons. Besides, I disgustingly experienced a Chenise man with his 6-7 yrs old son dipping into the clear water pool without pre-washing and a group of 3 Chenise men doing the same. I was in the the iron pool so they could not fit in and they they headed dor the clear water pool. i had to leave the complex, and going baxk to Notori for the clear water pool. The hote owner has to teach Chinese tourists how to take a bath in onsens, otherwiise we would end up bathing in Chinese pissess. Gone was the day when only Japanese gentlemen visit onsens.
7.5 Good
Cons: no washroom inside the guestroom

Pros: It was the second time I stayed at this hotel in Arima Onsen and it's as good as the previous time! I'm not sure the staff can speak English though, we always talked in Japanese with them. It's the typical ryokan that most tourists are dreaming of, the private bathroom is especially amazing! I recommend staying at this place if you want to experience the traditional japanese way of living.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Private hot spring area at no extra charge.

Cons: wifi signal was pretty weak
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Able to have then Onsen to yourself was nice.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is beautiful, staff nice and helpful, fantastic dinner.
Cons: Our beds in the Japanese style room were incredibly uncomfortable. They are not futon beds but something more towards hospital beds to help people with physical impairments or the elderly, which would be ok, if the mattresses were not the worst I have tried in years.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: individual small house which is quiet and provides good privacy.
Cons: interior is too small that you do not even have enough space to move when a medium sized suitcase is opened.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is very close to the train station, but it is uphill, so be sure to call the shuttle to pick you up. Bringing luggage up the hill is very difficult.
Cons: Everything was as expected.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel looks nice from the outside and inside. They provide pickup service from and to the bus stop and they are really responsive, which is really helpful. The staff are generally kind. The food was nice. We have our meals inside the room. It's convenient but at the same time the food smell is in the room where we sleep.
Cons: I'm surprised that they don't have their own wifi but use the Kobe free wifi. It's quite inconvenient since you have to keep logging in.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good onsen. The room that we stayed was spacious, comes with outdoor jacuzzi and garden view. The hotel is a bit uphill but they offer shuttle service to go to the town.
7.0 Good
Pros: Food are very good, both Dinner and Breakfast. the hot spring are fantastic, and place are amazing as well.
Cons: I been waked by the noise from the neighborhood at 1am check in time should be 3pm instead of 2pm as shown on booking.com the welcome staff is not very polite btw, quite disappointed.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic resort and with 2 Onsen facilities at that. Great place with not too many tourists, you can see that its frequented a lot by locals as well. Their set meals are simply amazing, we had things at breakfast and dinner that we had never heard of in Japanese cuisine. Onsen timings are super nice, they run from early morning all the way till 11 at night.
Cons: The free shuttle service they have from hotel to station etc can be advertised a bit more clearly. We did not know about this till we checked-in, having walked the whole way from the bus station.
5.4 Okay
Pros: +a girl who showed us the rooms was very nice, the onsen was good too - very authentic with two spaces and cute design. the view in lobby and in some rooms is nice too.
Cons: - stains on walls and floor in room, a bit shabby furniture - I expected it to be a new hotel as they say it's opened in 2018 but it's pretty old. Also we've almost got late for the train as the stuff didn't get that we asked them in English (using google translate to Japanese) that we need our luggage to be downstairs by certain time we didn't want to take it ourselves as there were stairs and no elevator on our floor level) and the shuttle bus should be there too. That seemed to get it but it turned out in the end they didn't. As we were a big group of people it was quite hectic. And, finally, I stayed in two other ryokan hotels in Arimaonsen and for the same price I got a nicer meal and a newer room as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel itself was so beautiful with an old historical bath-house feel. The grounds were lovely, the Japanese-style rooms were spacious and stylish, and the hot springs on the basement level were relaxing, clean and well-stocked with towels, lockers and amenities. The staff were also wonderfully accommodating to our needs and were unfailingly friendly and polite.
Cons: It was an uphill walk to get to the hotel from the train station, but it turns out they do have a free pick-up service from the village if you are able to call them via phone.

It is not an upgrade, the room we were change to where older. For 700 over dollars a night ...this is not worth it. The rooms need a refurnished. The front desk speaks very little english. Pros: Incredible buffet breakfast, with so many choices! it would be nice to have the items labelled in English as well as Japanese, since we did not recognize many of them. Baths on first floor (open to public) were charming; baths on top floor had a great view. Room was lovely and our balcony overlooked the harbor.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wow! Where do I start? The staff are very accomodating and proactive, delivering 5-star customer service. The views from the room were spectacular. We asked to have rooms close by to one another & they certainly delivered! We were able to drop our bags off before check in and they carried it up to our rooms. The rooftop onsen is a must.
Cons: The onsen ren is located far from the station. It's in a quiet area by the bay, we wish we knew that there was a shuttle bus operating from the train to the hotel.
7.9 Good
Pros: nice view, clean and spacious bath.
Cons: room slightly small for 4
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful onsen (hot springs) (one of the best onsen in Japan), good location, comfortable room
Cons: Only few vegetarian dishes in the restaurant (dinner and breakfast buffet)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are very large and clean. The have many hot spring baths, which are well maintained and monitored. The buffet staff is amazingly friendly and efficient.
Cons: The location is out of the way. The nearest train station is approx. 15-20 minutes away on foot. There Is nothing to do or see right around the hotel. Meriden Park is a 15 minute walk. While the restaurant staff is amazing (among the best we’ve ever experienced), the front desk staff needs training. As an example, we asked two simple questions about the Shin-Kobe station. After conferring with each other in Japanese, one said, “sorry we don’t know.” There was no offer to check or to try to assist. The lobby was entirely empty, and so it was not like they were so busy helping others that they couldn’t help us. I was surprised by this experience because at other hotels in Japan, the hotel front desk staff bent over backwards to help and find answers for us. The same staff also stood by and watched my wife and me lug 4 suitcases to the cab.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We love everything about the hotel. The view is superb. The staff are great and helpful. A plus point for the shuttle service to Sannomiya station. Otherwise a 7min easy and pleasant walk to Motomachi station. Location is awesome. Room is comfortable and big, spacious. Will definitely be my choice of stay in Kobe.
8.8 Excellent

Cons: Bed is not comfortable. Very hard.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Walking distance to shopping and leisure places.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Big room. Comfortable bed. Great water pressure in the shower. Exceptional service. Free shuttle to and from station. Lovely view of the bay.
Cons: The room had a slight lingering scent of stale tobacco. Probably it has been a smoking room in years gone by, as most hotels in Japan were.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Very little
Cons: Very few staff could speak English The room was very tired, furniture worn and in desperate need of refurbishment The carpets and bed linen were stained The bed was hard and very uncomfortable Needed fresh air and despite the windows having the ability to be opened it required special direction from management which they eventually agreed which l understand their security concerns but my wife and l are not emotionally unstable. Reception staff refused to send me a copy of my invoice as well as a hard copy and the young inexperienced gentleman insisted that it was hotel policy not to do both, why l asked? On my departure l read the 30 year anniversary promotion poster in the lobby of the Okura family’s ingredients for their success and l could not reflect how they would be equally disappointed if they visited the hotel today as guests today!!!
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The shuttle bus really helps! And we are amazed with the kindness of reception staff who helped us to make a reservation to Ishida restaurant. Overall the hotel is just nice.

Pros: we spend four fabulous days in a great location right in the middle of the most coveted area.
Cons: especially the huge balcony and the comfy bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location! Amazing staff! Room was spotless and we had an awesome view of the harbor!!
7.0 Good
Pros: View from top bar
Cons: I find it strange that as a guest you have to pay to visit the view bar, we ordered 6 drinks in total and had to pay an additional €20 to just sit there.. you also have to pay €10 to go in a super tiny pool. Not so guest friendly. This hotel is not 5* btw 3,5* would be a more realistic rating
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great view is everything!
Cons: Equipment is elderly.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Super harbour view with balcony. Spacious room. Swish public spaces. A bit out on a limb but not too long a walk to Chinatown etc.
Cons: Access on foot was poor as outside escalator was not working. Directions to the lift from the car park were poor. Loads of staff inside but outside help would have been more useful.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room, the bed was comfy. The room has balcony so you can enjoy the view. The hotel offers shuttle bus to and from Sannomiya.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: The shower over the bath is difficult for older guys and the bed was a bit hard for our taste. However would not stop us from coming again.

Cons: No free shuttles from the airport or the ferry boat pier.
