It’s a boutique hotel and staff is attentive to every detail. Breakfast was very good. They served eggs, bacon, breads, hams, fruit and cereals. Excellent service throughout our stay. We will definitely stay here on future trips to Firenze.

Pros: For us, the Pensione Pendini was a five star experience at a three star price. Everything was perfect from the location right in the heart of the action to the incredibly comfortable beds; the elegant lounge; the English language TV channels; and the exceptionally attentive staff. Where else will you find the manager personally greeting guests for breakfast in five languages? And the breakfast was absolutely what we wanted with crisp warm bread and croissants and a range of excellent cheeses and hams along with eggs and bacon. This 45 room hotel has been open since 1876 and has all the character and charm that you might expect from a hostelry of that period along with all modern conveniences. The Pensione Pendini has our highest recommendation.

Pros: The hotel is in the heart of the city. Our balcony was literally part of the arch that’s at the center of Piazza del Repubblica. It’s centrally located to many great restaurants and historic sites. The hotel itself has an old world charm while also having most modern conveniences that one would want to find in their hotel room. The complimentary breakfast was better than could ever be expected here in the United States. As well as the staff was hospitable and very helpful.

Cons: Since the hotel is so close to the square there is often a lot of noise, even rather late at night. If you’re one to go to bed early the noise from some of the restaurants playing very loud music can make it hard to sleep. This was only a problem for us on our first night as we ended up staying up later than we usually would. The only other slight drawback (especially for my husband) was this was the only hotel we stayed at the didn’t have a coffee maker and tea kettle in the room.

Pros: The staff here and services are really very nice! All of them can speak fluent English. We accidentally drove into the ZTL zone and worried about the massive penalty, the staff who worked at 7:00pm on 11/26 helped us to register our rental car and provided very helpful information. So thankful for him! Also there’s a staff from Sri Lanka, he is excellent! Thank you all for making our journey so happy!

Pros: Everything! We moved to this hotel following a bad night stay at another hotel. We hadn’t slept on our first night at the other hotel due to bad beds and noise and this hotel was such a blessing. The staff were amazing and put us in a very quiet room at the back of the hotel. The bed and pillows were amazing.. the style of the hotel was modern and funky. Breakfast was a good selection of pastries and continental. Would recommend this hotel to all.

This is a fabulous funky friendly hotel with fabulous lounge area, great location walking distance to everything. Bus stop right outside to train station. We spent three days but should have had two more and used Florence as base. This boutique hotel completed a wonderful visit to Florence.

Cons: Under Trip advisor's "Property amenities",there is a "restaurant" which is not exactly correct. The hotel serves only breakfast. I had booked this hotel for this reason and found out later that they serve only breakfast. This is misleading but it's not the hotel's fault. It is noisy at night if you have a room facing the street.

Cons: Room was too small, particularly the bathroom. One one day the housekeeping staff didn’t make up our room until late in the day. Breakfast staff failed to advise that we could order special from the kitchen in addition to what was placed in the buffet. Bed too low.

Pros: Staying at Casa Howard was one of the most pleasant experiences and a highlight of our trip thus far. The room we stayed in, the game room, also known as the terrace room was as charming as could be! The terrace is so peaceful and quiet and is such an added bonus! The location is great, too. Not too far from the train station, yet close to shops and restaurants. The staff at Casa Howard was so welcoming and very accommodating as well. We loved our stay in Florence and Casa Howard and would recommend it to anyone. I will definitely stay here the next time I travel to Florence.

The service was very classy, polite, attentive and friendly the staff made me and my two daughters feel very special. The waiter brought my daughter a shawl when he saw that she was cold and offered us one as well. Our room had a window with a view for people watching, the maid kept our room very clean, every evening when we arrived back from a long day our beds would be turned down waiting for us. The location of the hotel was perfect every thing in walking distance. Doormen and bell hops very friendly and courtesy. The gentleman that checked us in was friendly and welcoming and accommodate us with a bigger room when we revealed to him that our room was too small for 3 girls. We were hoping to see him again next day to thank him but we never saw him again. The breakfast is wonderful and delicious! Lots of food even at 945! i love the historical story of the hotel and old pictures of the hotel in the past. The antique furniture, history, and decor can only be appreciated by historical buffs. A historical beauty!

Cons: Some of the front desk staff were snooty and not very welcoming. The first gentleman we met was friendly we saw him only once out of the six days we were there. When I did ask questions front desk staff very short and make you feel like you are troubling them. The first room #145 was way to small for a mom and two teenage girls. I had adapters for my phone and the only one it would fit in was the bathroom. The Internet is very weak (which I knew coming in seems to be # 1 complaint). When you first walk thru revolving doors there is a woman sitting at a table not sure if she is with hotel however she is not very welcoming she is first person you see and she does not smile or say hello she does not make eye contact she is setting the tone and it is not good, smile say Bon Journo!

Pros: We loved our stay at the Cavour. The location made it so easy to get to all the sights and we enjoyed having a drink watching the sun go down from the rooftop. Cons: the water pressure in the shower in our room was weak to the extent we couldn't take a descent shower. When discussing with the hotel they first tried to convince us that this is the case in all rooms, we knew it wasn't true b/c our friends stayed in a different room and had a normal shower. then they agreed to move us to a different room.

Cons: I did not like the noise this time. I have stayed at this hotel before, but on upper floors. This time I was on the second floor and the street noise of the vendors setting up at 5 am, and people stumbling and singing back from the bars late into the night was more than I'd experienced previously. The two things that were upsetting this time, were 1) a fellow patron across the hall woke me up at 2 am on my first night there as he spoke loudly into his cell phone for 20 solid minutes, then again at 2:30 another call and again at 3 am a third. he apparently didn't want to bother the woman who was staying with him, who complained loudly, so he stepped into the hallway to take his calls right in front of my door, and proceeded to literally yell into his phone like there was a bad NASA connection to Mars. The second thing that was pretty bad this time was it seemed that the cleaning staff arrived at 5- 5:30 am every morning and proceeded to walk around directly above, sorting out their carts for the day. We really like this hotel, but if we have to endure this kind of noise, we will find another favorite place.

The chef, Dominique, was cheerful and efficient. The breakfast was plentiful with many excellent choices - the croissants were the best! We ate dinner at the restaurant one night and our burgers were cooked to perfection - thank you Dominique! Our room was always clean; slippers put by our bed. The bathroom had a towel warmer with large fluffy towels. We would highly recommend this hotel without reservation to anyone traveling to Florence. Another bonus, it’s location is an easy walk to the train station.

The staff was very very friendly and helpful, especially the young woman with the short black hair and glasses, and the porter named Miko. Breakfast was great with a lot of options such as croissants, pancakes, eggs, cereal, meat, etc. Breakfast staff was also very friendly :) We loved the hotel, the room, the staff, the services. Short 5 minute walk to the station, 10 minute walk to the Duomo, about 30 minutes to the river/Uffizi/Piazza di Signoria area, and 45 minutes to Piazza di Michelangelo. I would stay here again!

Cons: To be honest, we were really pleased with the place considering price, location, and friendliness of staff. The one thing I would say is that the bed - while not uncomfortable and completely adequate - was not an incredibly comfortable bed. But it worked - we slept great.

Cons: The actual hotel was fantastic. However, the hotel’s location got a bit dicey after sunset. On the left is the station which can be a little sketch, and on the right is the leather market that I felt very uncomfortable walking through because of the vendors calling me names like “honey” or asking me to “come here”. If you don’t give them attention, they won’t insist but it still shouldn’t be the case regardless. Once they knew we had no interest in their wares (because we walked through the market multiple times as it was the best way to get to the main town), they stopped trying to get our attention.

I stayed there only two nights, so didn't want to leave. Bed and pillows and everything was super comfortable and clean. Overall exceeded my low expectations, for 70 euros a day it's a HIT, also including very nice breakfast. Didn't rate it exceptional as there were some hot water issues which seemed to have been at least partially fixed after I complained... I would go back and stay there again, and I almost never say that. (they also have a small pool and jacuzzi for the summer)....

This hotel is truly a trip back in time with its elegance yet modern amenities. Location is great, right near many shops and restaurants. I felt safe coming home alone after a late dinner. Ensure that you book the room for your needs, and there are different rooms with/without pool access for more budget flexibility. I loved that I had a view of the pedestrian friendly narrow street.

I would give a higher score if not for the noise.

Cons: Room was dark like a cave and didn’t live up to the expectations from the pictures. The room was tired and need a coat of paint lots of dirty scuffs on the wall and messy edges I think it was over priced and is a 30 minute walk to the main area around the bridge

Pros: Great service and nice rooms. Located slightly away from the noisy city centre but its a walking city and within 15-20min walk you're anywhere you want to be. Concierge recommended excellent restaurants for us and took care of reservations.

The Arno River is only steps away from the hotel and you can also walk to the Santa Maria Novella railway station for connections all over Tuscany. The hotel is housed within in a former convent which gives it an antique charm, especially with the old Florentine paintings and traditional furniture.
