Eastbourne hotels near Redoubt Fortress and Military Museum

Pros: Very friendly ans helpful staff, great location, amazing breakfast and breakfast services.

Pros: The breakfast, bar food and Sunday Carvery were outstanding. Friendly, cheerful staff.

Cons: Reserved parking

Pros: Friendly, helpful staff, lovely atmosphere, modern, stylish interior, great food, comfy rooms and beds. Great views. Had a superb fillet of hake in The Artisan restaurant one evening. Beautifully cooked and presented. Attentive service. Couldn't fault it.

Cons: A really, really minor point: mushrooms and tomatoes at breakfast were tasteless and looked unappetizing. Otherwise, the food was excellent.

Pros: staff were amazing especially the reception team especially Laura Tiramani . Nothing was too much trouble for anyone . Absolutely first class service.

Cons: The drinks are over priced

Cons: Everything was more or less OK - I would have rated it higher but my view was clouded by being vastly too expensive for what it was.

Cons: The bedroom was basic the bed was 2 single push together and the pillows not good

Cons: Soft sided matress comfortable but not really suitable for two 80 plus people with some mobility issues. If you were not careful you found yourself in danger of falling off the edge when turning over. The room was immediately above the vent from presumably the kitchen and there was a persistent 24 hour hum. a grab handle would be useful to help with getting into the bath to shower. There was nowhere on the booking site to indicate there were a small number of rooms available with walk in showers.

Pros: Pool nice, clean. Bed comfortable, dinner excellent

Pros: The staff we are exemplary. Friendly extremely helpful and charming. The location has a old world charm and is quaint.

Cons: The radiator made a strange banging sound at night . But this was minor

Pros: "Grand" Hotel on the seafront. Warm welcome by doorman and reception. Shown to the room and made to feel very welcome. Nice inland room with a lovely bed. All the normal extras you would expect. Due to work took dinner in the room and again good choice and excellent (quick) service. Used the gym (small and a bit old) but not the pool. Breakfast in the morning was excellent, service impeccable and very good choice of hot and cold food. Held meetings in the lounge for the day and staff were attentive throughout .

Cons: Gym was looking and feeling old (squeaky exercise bike and for some reason heart love songs playing). Wifi was hit and miss throughout the hotel

Pros: The staff from reception to bar and restaurant were 1st class. Our room was so very comfortable and so well presented.

Cons: Was a birthday suprise for my partner and all i can say is it exceeded our expectations, so much so we stayed an extra night. Staff were very welcoming and polite and always willing to help & the facilities were spot on

Pros: I cannot commend the staff enough as they were polite, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Now we had to pay a little extra for the sea view as you would expect, but the room had a panoramic view and was was well worth it. It was a very good size and the large bed was extremely comfortable. I will certainly be back and would rate The Grand higher that the "luxury" 5 star hotels in the big cities.

Pros: Always a pleasure to visit Eastbourne and stay at the Berkeley. The staff were as welcoming and helpful as usual. I am already thinking of booking my next trip here.

Cons: Our friends had the same room down the hall but there's had a refurbished bathroom and décor very disappointing with our bathroom, dinner in the restaurant was painful lack of options and atmosphere and breakfast was poor you really need to learn from others like Premier inn

Cons: Rather tired rooms with worn furniture, carpets and third rate shower facilities.

Pros: Everything! The room was just perfect, large, spacious, clean, tidy, the bathroom was amazing! It was more like a mini flat than a hotel room. To sit on the veranda and have a few drinks in the evening and the morning was just glorious. Oh and the sea view was to die for!

Cons: Not so much what we didn't like, but w head to walk through the restaurant to get to our room.... not a problem for us but maybe for the people eating. This wasn't a major thing though!

Cons: Couldn't park car nearer hotel ,Bar wasn't very good, could have been a little more lively in the evening, hotel would have made more money as weather wasn't very good and alot of people were stuck in rooms.

Pros: The first member of staff to great us was lovely, young guy with short, light coloured hair, think he was local. Very friendly and helpful, excellent. We were given a room away from main part on third floor as the place was packed with very loud international students, so our room was quieter. Had breakfast twice the staff cooked us vegetarian sausages to order. Plenty of food, pastries, toast, fruit, yoghurt, cooked items for English breakfast. Lady who cleaned our room was very polite. Parking permit was given to us for £1 a day, just put it on each evening to cover next day, worked well. You just have to find a space on the seafront as close as you can.

Cons: Unfortunately the day we arrived a pair of men's pants were under the beds which had been pushed together to make a king sized bed. I was with my daughter and we wanted a twin room. The room was incredibly hot with a very small window which barely opened. View was lovely but hard to see round netting/ close stonework.They separated beds the next night, but the pants which we left by the bin weren't taken as they must have thought they were ours (despite us both being women! I guess they couldn't make the assumption though) When I raised what had happened the day we left, the guy on the desk, who was dark haired kind of Spanish looking/sounding, argued with me that I should have reported it on the first day. I said it was kind of embarrassing. He just kept telling me that "next time something like this happens in a hotel you should report it so we can deal with the cleaners'. It was like he was telling me what to do in a hotel. We are well-travelled! He was pretty much shouting at me as I left which made me feel horrible and put a damper on the day. What bothered me was it was extremely hot and the cleaners had a lot to do, I felt he was just going to fire someone over it. Breakfast was cleared away at 10 very promptly, despite the fact we'd had to wait 20 minutes for our vegetarian sausages. Lots of people who appeared to be staff seemed to wander around a lot not doing much. Often no one on the front desk and no security to the building as you didn't need a key to get to the lifts/stairs/room areas. Trying to cross the road outside is like dicing with death! Traffic is crazy but beach is opposite only a few yards away. Eastbourne- hmm bit dodgy not great! Pier is lovely though.
